In an engaging interview, Debois delved into the motivations behind Pointerpro, how it assists professional service providers, his entrepreneurial experience, and the company's commitment to social responsibility.Key Takeaways:Networking and Collaboration in Content Marketing: Debois emphasized the importance of collaboration in content marketing, illustrated by the B Two B Blogger Boost Group, a community where content marketers share and mention each other's content to boost visibility and relevance. This approach cultivates relationships, boosts authority, and enriches content.Pointerpro's Role in Automating Advisory Processes: Pointerpro helps professional services companies digitize their advisory processes by creating custom online assessments that generate personalized reports. This process significantly reduces manual work, decreases the time-to-business impact, and enhances the ability to scale without extra headcount.Strategic Steps to Digitization: Debois advises businesses to specialize, switch from time and material billing to fixed pricing, and model their expertise into a maturity framework before digitizing their processes. This structured approach ensures the successful implementation of automation.Debois' Entrepreneurial Mindset: Rather than identifying as a serial entrepreneur, Debois expresses satisfaction in growing and scaling a single business, deriving joy from overcoming challenges and witnessing the progress of Pointerpro.A Balance Between Professional and Personal Life: Debois underscores the importance of sports, like kitesurfing and biking, and family as essential elements of maintaining balance and coping with the pressures of entrepreneurship.Social Responsibility Commitment: Despite being a small company, Pointerpro sponsors Habercuts, a Belgian organization that supports children from disadvantaged backgrounds. This initiative aligns with Debois' belief in the value of social responsibility.Learn more about Stefan Debois and how Pointerpro can help you digitize your professional services to optimize your advisory process, reduce time to business impact, and increase scalability. It's time to turn the tides in your favour, just as Debois does when mastering the waves in his favourite pastime, kitesurfing.
Todd Moran joins the show to talk about the social aspect of assessment including peer assessment, handling pushback from learning designers and other stakeholders, and some more effective methods of online assessments that quizzes.About Todd MoranTodd's professional career has spanned start-ups to non-profits and large multinationals, and his current role at NovoEd as the Chief Learning Strategist. From the megatrends in learning and enterprise collaboration to technology evaluation and implementation, to the ‘people' side of organisational change and talent development, he covers the gamut of understanding what it takes to enable a successful digital workplace and deep employee engagement.Todd holds a B.A. in Organisational Psychology from Middlebury College, and an M.A. in Information & Learning Technology from the University of Colorado. Key takeaways:Assessment needs to be completely relevant and incorporates socialisation. Firstly, we often miss the nature of embedding some of those assessments in the specificity of the context they should reside within. Secondly, the social aspect gives a more holistic view of assessment, that is not just individual knowledge.Consider the gradient of effort when scaling assessment across an organisation. Think about lower points of entry that still return big value when it comes to casting a net wider socially, e.g. about who could assess one's work, products, tasks, etc.Learning about work should be a team activity and we need to shift the perspective of learning designers and other stakeholders who think it's just for individuals. Ask them questions such as “how applicable is the scenario or the experience or the intervention you're designing?“, and tie in the alignment to how that individual can then perform in a work setting.Segmented time stamps:[01:54] More effective ways of online assessments[04:41] Considering the social aspect of learning[08:14] What we mean by ‘assessment'[10:46] Working with learning designers and other key stakeholders to shift their perspective[14:52] Having an education mindset[18:33] Making assessment more socialLinks from the podcast Connect with Todd on LinkedInLearn more about NovoEdListen to NovaEd's Wildly Capable podcast Join NovodEd's free Learning Experience Design: From Ideas to Impact course
Caitlin MacGregor, the Co-Founder and CEO of Plum, joins the High Volume Hiring Podcast to talk assessments. With host Steven Rothberg of College Recruiter, Caitlin distinguishes between old-style assessments like DISC and Myers-Briggs and modern assessments that use science to accurately predict the productivity of a candidate if hired into a specific role with a specific organization. Organizations large and small, including those hiring at scale, are discovering that scientifically valid assessments allow them to efficiently and effectively broaden their applicant pool to include candidates they and their competitors may never have considered if all they had to go on was a resume. The result is increased time-to-hire, increased diversity, increased productivity, and reduced cost. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
Episode 96 with Diana Heldfond. “No child shows up to school wanting to be the anxious kid in class or the disorganized one. There's something else going on that's inhibiting that child from succeeding.” Diana is the founder and CEO of Parallel Learning. As early as 7 years old, Diana realized she was not progressing at the pace of her fellow classmates. Soon thereafter, she was diagnosed with dyslexia and ADHD. Diana was fortunate enough to have the support to get the help she needed in order to thrive. As an adult, she realized that while 1 in every 5 students has a cognitive difference, support is confusing, expensive, and inefficient. Diana is now on a mission to make psycho-educational services widely available across the nation. As founder and CEO of Parallel, Diana is building the first tech-enabled, integrated care model for children with learning and thinking differences. Diana & I talk all about the online assessment process for kids, which is a relatively new option for families and schools. We also talk about empowered learning and the importance of positive framing and teaching kids about the strengths of ADHD at an early age rather than simply diagnosing a disorder. I loved getting the chance to sit down with Diana and hear her personal story and chat all about this incredible business she started and how much it has benefited my family's journey. ** If you are interested in learning more about how Parallel can help your child, please call 914.377.5655 or visit www.parallellearning.com. Parental burnout is described as an exhaustion syndrome, both physical and emotional. This overwhelming exhaustion leads to emotional distancing from our children and increases our feelings of inadequacy and ineffective parenting. The tricky thing about parent burnout is that was are not supposed to be able to burnout. Parenting is "wonderful" and "fulfilling" and the "greatest joy" we can ever hope for. With those expectations, how do we deal with the reality of parent burnout? How do we undo the damage of COVID lockdowns, no school, home school, working from home, fear and frustrations. Using online assessments is not new. Using a LMS might be new for some schools. Integrating the two into the daily classroom environment can seem complicated to some staff, and it really isn't. This shot video/podcast shows one way to integrate your LMS, and online assessments, into your daily class. Once you do, online assessments become a normal part of your class, and help guide your instructional path. I do apologize for going slightly over 10 minutes!

[25:02] “Look at assessments and always favor reliability. Choose markers of progress that you know can be reliable from step to step. You can be reasonably confident that whatever you're being reported is accurate.” – Jonathan Goodman The Reality with Assessments It’s only a document that shows if you might hurt a person, what your clients are susceptible to, and ensuring that they get better with as little risk as possible. The Best Assessment is the Mental Assessment Figure out the “why” of your clients, how ready they are, and what you could impact in their life through your training. It’s never just getting a six-pack, but something more emotional. Reliability over Validity Most of the tests out there aren’t valid anyway. Online Assessments are basically computer and internet based technology to deliver and score tests.
