This week on On Story we're joined by director Ric Roman Waugh for a post-screening deep dive into his newest action thriller, Kandahar. Formerly an actor and stuntman who appeared in countless films, including Universal Soldier, The Last of the Mohicans, and Lethal Weapon 2, Waugh is certainly no stranger to action. Now known for his work as a writer, producer, and director, Waugh utilizes his background in stunt work to create many of today's leading thrillers, such as Felon, Snitch, Shot Caller, and Angel Has Fallen, serving on all as writer and director. Recently in 2020, Waugh directed Greenland, a disaster thriller starring Waugh's frequent collaborator, Gerard Butler, which follows the story of John Garrity, who must save the United States from imminent destruction by a comet. Waugh's newest action thriller, Kandahar, was written by former U.S. Military Intelligence Officer Mitchell La Fortune, and follows the journey of undercover CIA operative Tom Harris, who along with his translator must flee hostile territory in Afghanistan after their covert mission is exposed. Both starring and produced by Gerard Butler, the film is based on LaFortune's own experience serving in Afghanistan during the 2013 Snowden leaks. Never short on suspense or excitement, Kandahar is a high-stakes race against time, set against the complex political background of the War on Terror. So sit back - or, well more likely on the edge of your seat - as Barbara Morgan sits down with director Ric Roman Waugh to talk all things Kandahar. Clips of Kandahar courtesy of Open Road Films.
Hello everyone! Welcome to The ITfactor Show! I'm so honored to have as my guest today, one of comedy's biggest stars, Rob Riggle. We're going to talk about his life and career, as well as some of his greatest moments. Rob has been a staple in comedic films and television for over 15 years. He is known for his memorable characters in comedy hits like “The Hangover and “Step Brothers”, as well as his stints on “Saturday Night Live”, and as a correspondent on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. He also recently appeared in Warner Bros.' war drama, “12 Strong” and Open Road Films' “Midnight Sun”, the latter of which he received critical acclaim for his performance. While Rob has made audiences around the world laugh, he also has served as a member of the United States Marine Corps. Initially joining the Marine Corps in 1990 at the age of 19, Rob rose through the ranks and has served in various countries, including Albania, Liberia and Afghanistan. He recently retired from the Marine Corps Reserve after 23 years of total service — nine years of active duty and 14 years in the reserves – with more than 21 medals and ribbons. Rob's story is so inspiring because he was able to turn his life around and create a new purpose for himself. He's a great example of how anyone can find their calling in life. In this episode, he shares some great advice about how you can live your life by design and not just by default. It's true that there are many paths that lead to success – some are harder than others – but if you're willing to work hard and follow your heart, you will find your way! Let's dive in! In this episode, you will learn: The defining moments of Rob Riggle's life — from marine officer to legendary comedian Why there is no finish line if you truly want success. Why you should never quit learning and growing. How immediate gratification is keeping you from happiness and success. Choosing your friends wisely. Mindsets for discipline and showing up. The secret to designing your life. The real definition of “going for it.” Links and Resources: Unlimited Power: The New Science Of Personal Achievement by Tony Robbins | https://a.co/d/dJ0EbHf Connect with Rob: On Website | https://robriggle.com/ On Instagram | https://www.instagram.com/robriggle On Facebook | https://www.facebook.com/RobRiggle/ On Twitter | https://twitter.com/RobRiggle Connect with Emily On Website | https://www.itsemily.com On Instagram | https://www.instagram.com/itsemily On Facebook | https://www.facebook.com/itsemilymethod On Twitter | https://www.twitter.com/itsemilyford On YouTube | https://www.youtube.com/c/itsemilyford

Studio 666 is an upcoming supernatural horror comedy film directed by B. J. McDonnell, with a screenplay by Jeff Buhler and Rebecca Hughes, based on a story from Dave Grohl. Grohl stars in the film alongside his Foo Fighters bandmates Taylor Hawkins, Nate Mendel, Pat Smear, Chris Shiflett, and Rami Jaffee, while Whitney Cummings, Leslie Grossman, Will Forte, Jenna Ortega and Jeff Garlin co-star. The film is scheduled to be released in the United States on February 25, 2022, by Open Road Films. Today I had the chance to speak with producers John Ramsey and James A. Kirsty is back and she's bought us a sumptuous feast in the shape of 2014's love letter to selling food from a van. We learn about Cuban Sarnies, US Seatbelt Laws, Pigs heads and Sofia Vergara's West Yorkshire Heritage. Chef is a 2014 American comedy-drama film written, co-produced, directed by, and starring Jon Favreau. Favreau plays a chef who, after a public altercation with a food critic, loses his job at a popular Los Angeles restaurant and begins to operate a food truck with his young son. It co-stars Sofía Vergara, John Leguizamo, Scarlett Johansson, Oliver Platt, Bobby Cannavale, and Dustin Hoffman, along with Robert Downey Jr. in a cameo role.Favreau wrote the script after directing several big-budget films, wanting to go "back to basics" and to create a film about cooking. Food truck owner and chef Roy Choi served as a co-producer and oversaw the menus and food prepared for the film. Principal photography took place in July 2013 in Los Angeles, Miami, Austin and New Orleans.Chef premiered at South by Southwest on March 7, 2014 and was released theatrically on May 9, 2014 by Open Road Films. It was well-received by critics, who praised the direction, music, writing, story, and performances, and grossed $46 million against a production budget of $11 million.Feast on the socials at:Twitterhttps://twitter.com/100thingspodInstagramhttps://www.instagram.com/100thingsfilm/Facebookhttps://www.facebook.com/100thingsfilmSupport the show (https://www.buymeacoffee.com/100things)

Episode 23 of One Week Only! This week, our key film is the documentary “Gleason” by Clay Tweel. Steve Gleason was a successful NFL player who retired to start a family, but was struck by a sudden diagnosis of ALS, or Lou Gehrig’s disease. The film follows his struggle to fight the diagnosis & be an inspiring figure for this disability, while also being a good husband and father, despite his condition. A powerful, tear-jerking story, the film comes to LA & NY this weekend, courtesy of Open Road Films. We also cover Hollywood documentary “Women He’s Undressed” about Oscar-Winning Costumer Orry-Kelly, by Gillian Armstrong; Wall Street thriller “Equity” starring Anna Gunn (Breaking Bad), from Meera Menon; documentary “Hollywood Beauty Salon” about a Philadelphia Recovery Community, by Glenn Holsten; science fiction end-of-the-world drama “Into the Forest” starring Ellen Page & Evan Rachel Wood, by Patricia Rozema; and “Heironymus Bosch: Touched by the Devil,” a documentary about celebrating the 500th anniversary of the famed Medieval painter, by Pieter van Huystee. Hosted by Carlos Aguilar & Conor Holt. Music by Kevin MacLeod at www.incompetech.com
In our 38th podcast, I am joined by three Gold Rush Gang members - Júlia, Evan and Kenneth - to first discuss the name change of the Amy Adams space drama and if the film needs more or less Jeremy Renner (hint: it's the latter). Then, onto predictions for the Cannes Film Festival announcement next week. Everything from what's confirmed, what's definitely not showing up to what we have a good idea will be. Much conversation revolves around the Jeff Nichols film Loving starring Ruth Negga and Joel Edgerton and how Focus Features is positioning the film early (it doesn't do Cannes that often) and will likely hit all of the major festivals before its theatrical release. This leads to a lengthy Best Actress conversation (no, really?) that focuses mainly on Negga and Viola Davis in Fences but also on the challenge of a studio to decide which of its films to push the most, when to release it and when it's good to be seen early. Much debate about if the Academy will take Amazon Studios and Netflix seriously this year after no nominations for a feature film happened at this year's nominations takes place, including thoughts on how the old indies (Sony Pictures Classics, Focus Features, Fox Searchlight) fell to the new indies this year (A24, Open Road Films) and where Amazon and Netflix fit, if they do at all and how those two streaming services are becoming the new home for old school indie directors. I also give a plea and shoutout to director Karyn Kusama whose film The Invitation debuted this weekend to rave reviews and deserves a major career redemption. Evan and Kenneth discuss a wealth of films they've recently seen that could end up being awards contenders come fall (as Spring movies often do) including the ever-awarded Helen Mirren in Eye in the Sky and Sally Field in Hello, My Name is Doris. Júlia shares her thoughts on the upcoming film Moonlight, starring Mahershala Ali, Andre Holland and Naomie Harris. We also highlight something we're very proud of; an AwardsWatch forum member who has a film playing the Cannes Film Festival. Our own Aaron Salazar's film gas_n_go032416 will play the Short Film Corner of the festival. Huge congratulations to him. Also, Nicole Kidman. Because, of course.
