Our topic for today is hidden foster care: a process wherein children are sent to live with relatives or friends in order to prevent foster care with strangers. Considered a “voluntary” placement, in reality it often involves coercion or threats. In one such instance, Su'Leya Williams was a baby girl taken from her mother's care and placed with a woman who claimed to be a relative, but wasn't. Baby Su'Leya died in her care. Today, we welcome Sarah Katz, a Professor of Law at the Temple University Beasley School of Law and Director of Temple Law's Family Justice Clinic, and April Lee, the Founder of Philly Voice for Change. Sarah and April discuss the requirements DHS is legally bound to in this process, how they are often skirted or ignored completely, and the resulting impact on parents and children. The EPPiC Broadcast is hosted by Michael Ramey, president of the Parental Rights Foundation. This week on CURE America, Jonathan Alexandre is back as guest host with a ton of new guests to discuss the current state of parental rights in America. Through the confines of COVID, more and more parents are becoming aware of just what that means, as the Left continues its assault of a woke ideology on our society, and perhaps most importantly, in our classrooms. Jamison Coppola with the Parental Rights Foundation, as well as Janae Stracke with Heritage Action for America, take us through the growing fight taking place at school board meetings and the grassroots movement to equip parents to fight for their right and role in their child's education. Jamison Coppola with the American Association of Christian Schools takes us through some of the legislation making its way, on both sides of the fight, across the states, as well as the increasing intrusion by government into the religious liberty of Christian schools. Who should be in charge of making decisions on behalf of that child? If these seem like simple questions to answer, you're not alone. An overwhelming percentage of Americans believe parents should have a constitutional right to raise and make decisions for their child without undue government interference and yet, the basic concept of “parental rights” are consistently under attack from all levels of government. William Estrada, president of the Parental Rights Foundation and ParentalRights.org, joined the program to discuss the crucial concept of empowering families by putting parents back in charge.

Parental rights. It's a term that burst into the public consciousness in recent years. This year alone, 82 bills have been introduced in 26 states under the banner of parental rights. On issues such as masking, vaccine mandates, critical race theory and book bans, parents are showing up at school board meetings to demand a greater say in their children's education and lives. And it has coalesced into a powerful political force on the right.Long before parents' rights took center stage during the Covid pandemic, it was a cause championed overwhelmingly by the Christian home-schooling community. Will Estrada grew up in rural Pennsylvania in a family of eight home-schooled kids. Today he's the president of the Parental Rights Foundation. In this episode, Estrada talks about the movement's roots and why he believes the Democratic Party is missing an opportunity, and he answers Lulu Garcia-Navarro's biggest question: Are parents' rights truly rights for all parents, no matter their politics?(A full transcript of the episode will be available midday on the Times website.)
