This time, also featuring the graphic novel Tim gifted Marty: The Sword of Glass! First, here's the article from Comics XF that Marty mentioned, written by Ritesh Babu. Okay to Work With, But Mouthy It’s a pseudo anniversary episode: 1 year since Patrick’s TMNT injury and 2 weeks since Patrick and Dal received their 2nd vaccinations. How Bad Idea’s Whalesville button when terribly wrong this week. All the effort it will take to sell $1 copies of Bad Idea’s Hank Howard for 8 hours. Danhausen is very nice, very evil, and on an Image cover. If only it were easier to answer Pullbox questions. Dal envisions a world where there are NO standing orders for subscribers, only special orders placed every month. Don’t blame Diamond for your mistakes. Venting on the podcast as opposed to venting in-store.
This week, Tim, Nick and Marty continue their deep dive into the world of Astro City with Family Album! We explore the themes and stories behind these collected issues, which focus on the idea of super-hero family. Now, the only drawback in spending so much time digging into Astro City is we don't have a lot of time left to talk about what we're reading IN ADDITION to Busik's wonderful world. We plan on returning to our Pullbox soon
This week, Marty, Tim and Nick do a deep dive into what we've been reading comics wise. This week, Nick goes into why he is not happy with how the Dawn of X titles have been spinning out -- even if he likes specific books. Like Marauders. You're reading Mauraders, right?Tim does a deep dive into Dark Nights Metal, following his dive into Bendis' Superman run. We try to make a little sense of The Batman who Laughs, but you're going to have to listen to find out of if this is our Jam.Marty talks about Ironman 2020. It's certainly the end of a series!
Hey there ACCtion heroes, want to hear about one of the most influential and iconic comics? Of course you do, you're a rabid listener of ACC! Going BRZRK(R) A dog walks into the store… stop me if you’ve heard this one. (EDIT: He walked back in on Saturday! His name is Ollie, not Oscar.) The hassles of last week’s Lunar shipment (we got another store’s books instead of ours). Here’s how ComicSuite and Pullbox are messing with us THIS week! The tensions of this past Wednesday in the store. BOOM! Studios turns to Kickstarter for their new Keanu Reeves project. You get 50% more podcast this week for free!
“You’ve Got This?” Yes, we have this. More issues with Diamond’s Pullbox and with their Replenishment shipments. Patrick’s 30 Years interview with David Harper. Patrick celebrates said 30 years with a Jack Kirby Captain America tattoo.
Margaritas at work really help Patrick’s mood. 30 Years of Retailing. More ideas for Episode #500. An unexpected benefit of using Pullbox. An unexpected problem with using Pullbox. When did the outside of a comic start mattering more than the inside? A genuinely positive customer interaction (there are MANY during the week; we just don’t usually call them out). Sales expectations with school resuming.
11 years of this Podcast! SO many projects to get done at the store. ‘Caution Codes’ as part of an items name. Even MORE Alex Ross ‘Timeless’ variant covers are coming. Not seeing the joy of comics in our work. An update on using Pullbox. Thanks, Patrons!

We got a Google review that says we don’t look people in the eyes… We did not receive our copies of Batman #95 this week, mere days after we talked about things going fairly well with the new DC Comics distribution set-up. The uncertain future of comics and comics retail. Our webstore/store point-of-sale system link-up is so close to being complete! Minor issues with Diamond’s Pullbox system. Ordering new action figures for the store and for ourselves. The new creative team on Wonder Woman is off to a solid start (#759). Some other upcoming comic talk!
Patrick was interviewed by David Harper for SKTCHD.com’s mid-year check-in. Richie Kotzen rules!! Lots of comic companies and retailers got Paycheck Protection loans. Marvel + Scholastic = The Future. A brief AEW digression. Diamond’s Pullbox is here!

Hi there Patrons and ACCtion Heroes! The audio file says it all, but we have some formatting changes coming down the pike. We're spinning off Pullbox into its own weekly show. This way, we get to focus on our core mission of introducing new comics and comics-related media to our community. We tend to think of it as gate-opening. We are still going to do regular deep dives into other topics. For example, in the coming weeks, we have Immortal Hulk and Horror, Romantic Representation in Comics, and an interview with writer Jon Tsuei. But we're also adding a "lighter" topic into the rotation. Think of those topics as being palate cleansers for the dark and gritty Daredevil/Batman stories that Marty cannot stop bringing up. Examples of those topics include All Ages Media, State of the Arrowverse, and romance in general. Bookclub isn't going anywhere. In fact, this next bookclub will be Bone! And because Nick loves it so, we're going to do two whole shows on it, about a month apart. Look for our next Book Club vote in the coming weeks! No matter what changes, our purpose remains the same: To open up the comics community so that it is welcoming to all people. Comics are for everyone, and we want to share the joy they bring with everyone. These changes let us double down on our commitment to you. The format changes are taking place this week. Let us know how we're doing either on Patreon or wherever you get your podcasts (ie a 5-star review would be great!)

Hey ACC-tion heroes! This week, Tim and Nick ask each other three insightful questions. Come for the questions, stay for the amazing answers! Feature 1 - Three Questions We each ask each other three questions. Nick to Tim What insights would an Asian-American bring to the shield if, like Sam Wilson, they took the mantle of Captain America for a while? If you were a wrestling promoter in the DC Universe, who would you recruit? No, you can’t cross-over Ben Grimm. We talk a lot about how heroes (and sometimes villains) have helped us understand ourselves. Has a hero (or villain) ever helped you understand someone ELSE? Tim to Nick Generally speaking, what limits you from reading comics? Not a critique, but a genuine curiosity. If you were tapped to write for a book, which one would you want to tackle? Comic book movies obviously pull source material from comics, but increasingly we are seeing movies affect the content of comics. (Example: Drax’s redesign), do you think this is a positive trend, negative, or neutral? Feature 2 - Pullbox Nick: Future Guys of Tomorrow Tim: Iron Fist #1-7 (2017)
Feature 1 - What book would you recommend for a college class? Nick - Astro City Tim - Maus (especially given that on the internet they say that the holocaust is ‘fading from memory’). Example #1 Example #2 Hannah - Pedro and Me / My Friend Dahmer Feature 2 - Comic book coding What is comic book coding? What are some good examples? What are some bad examples? Is it an effective technique? Feature 3 - Pullbox! Hannah - Tim - Beta Ray Bill: Godhunter (2009), Writer: Kieron Gillen Penciller: Kano Nick -

With the beginning of 2012 bringing with it a brand new season of SHFTS, we chat about the same blasted games we have been harping on about for the past few weeks. Sorry about that folks. For yes we do talk about Skyrim and Star Wars the Old Republic. We do get distracted with Pullblox on 3DS and Rayman Origins though, so it is not us banging on and on about Skyrim again. But hey, it is a fine game and we are huge fans of it here in SHFTS Towers. The same goes for SWTOR and its ability to entertain, despite the trappings of it being an MMO. We also cover details of the second SHFTS Forza 4 series and how Tara had to rebuild her PC to play SWTOR.In the news we chat about a device that allow you to download image of ROMS for SNES and Megadrive to your computer of choice and play games via an emulator. Yes this is legal apparently. Running time: 01:48:22
