And now a ramblinga and too brief review of "We3" by Grant Morrision & Frank Quitely, a three issue mini-series from 2004 about cybernetic animal assassins that is a lot more powerful than the concept reads on paper.
Episode 187!? This week we are giving our thoughts on "WE3"! Writer Grant Morrison and artist Frank Quitely deliver the emotional journey of WE3 - three house pets weaponized for lethal combat by the government - as they search for "home" and ward off the shadowy agency that created them. With nervous systems amplified to match their terrifying mechanical exoskeletons, the members of Animal Weapon 3 (WE3) have the firepower of a battalion between them. But they are just the program's prototypes, and now that their testing is complete, they're slated to be permanently "decommissioned," causing them to seize their one chance to make a desperate run for freedom. Relentlessly pursued by their makers, the WE3 team must navigate a frightening and confusing world where their instincts and heightened abilities make them as much a threat as those hunting them - but a world, nonetheless, in which somewhere there is something called "home." WE3 by Grant Morrison, Frank Quitely, Jamie Grant, and the incomparable Todd Klein is a highlight of the past 20 years. This compact tale about three cybernetically modified pets who escape their government handlers as they search for home is one that resonates on multiple levels. “PLAY” will be WE3's video game only podcast released weekly(hopefully) with our regular “Watch” episode. On the very first solo episode of We Play we talk about the gigantic news of Microsoft acquiring Activision Blizzard! What does this mean for Sony? Will Call of Duty go exclusively to Game Pass? Will absolutely nothing change and Microsoft just makes bank off of that COD, WOW and Candy Crush money train?! The WE3 hosts all have varyingly different opinions on what will go down. We discuss what we're playing including games like Halo Infinite, The Ruined King and Assassins Creed Valhalla. Plus the Raiders getting hosed and eliminated from the playoffs has completely soured Powers Madden experience. All this and we talk about the new WWE2K22 trailer that just dropped and what we'd like from this years long delayed wrestling powerhouse. Spoilers ahead! Now, on to the show… --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/watchplayrant/message

Today we teach Ryan about the illustrious chaos magician and sometimes writer Grant Morrison. Whether it's a lesson on how to improve fan engagement or just the metaphysics of physics, we tackle some of it. There is just no way we could do the great Mr. Morrison any justice in little over an hour. So here we have the first part of a two part epic, but even by the second part (whenever that shows up), still don't expect us to even scratch the surface.Available on Amazon Podcasts, Apple Podcasts, Spotify, iHeart Radio, Google Podcasts, Spreaker, Castbox, Deezer, Podcast Addict, and Podchaser.Spicy Beets: https://soundcloud.com/jesse-senpaiPaper Lab Studios: www.paperlabstudios.comFollow us on Instagram: @maddogbarsini @zippertan @paperlabstudiosFollow us on Twitter: @zippertan @paperlabSupport us on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/paperlabstudios
On the first episode of Attack Of The Stack we go into our comic book origin stories and discuss the announcement that Donny Cates will be teaming up with Ryan Ottley and Frank Martin to take over Hulk this fall. Then we get into some books we have each been reading including Heroes Reborn, Low, We3, The Last Ronin, Big Girls, HAHA and a few more. Then we wrap up with our main discussion of Jeff Lemire and Andrea Sorrentino's Gideon Falls.
Coming up on this weeks show we discuss how out of touch Brad is with modern anime. Liv makes the mistake of saying Cowboy Bebop is just “ok”. Does Demon Slayer actually start to get good by the 22nd episode(just like WE3)? Probably not. Marvels next big MCU epic is here in the form of a teaser trailer. Does The Eternals live up to the hype? Roger and Powers finally get around to watching Tenet and they wish THEY could reverse time and avoid this pile of overrated garbage. Speaking of overrated, the crew gives us their Top 5 overrated directors AND their Top 5 favorite directors. Some directors will make both lists! And let's discuss the elephant in the room. IS Pow just trolling us with his Watch section every week or does he actually enjoy things like Eurovision 21, Bob Hopes Amityville, and Battle Bots?! I have no friggin idea. Now, on to the show. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/watchplayrant/message
Neste episódio 183 do ArgCast, Daniel HDR, Rogério DeSouza, Ivo Kleber, Andy Nakamura e Júlio Cruz relembram uma HQ por muitos esquecida, por outros subestimada, mas que marcou e definiu muitos aspectos do personagem WOLVERINE: a mini-série ARMA X, escrita e ilustrada pelo incrível Barry Windsor-Smith, publicada originalmente na revista Marvel Comics Presents, e apresentada no Brasil pela primeira vez na revista Grandes Heróis Marvel #35 (em 1992). E ainda: WE3, de Grant Morrison, seria uma resposta à Arma X? – Como pendurar baterias de carro nas partes intimas de uma pessoa; – Entenda o conceito “Graphic Novel de Rodoviária”;

In this week's episode of Off Panel, artist Frank Quitely joins to chat about his art and career. Quitely discusses keeping his pseudonym, why he went the illustration route originally, the impact of influences, being an influence himself, working with Grant Morrison and Mark Millar, why Flex Mentallo was such a challenge, having an outsider perspective, reinventing the X-Men, his Sandman short, innovating on We3, different ways to approach comics, the lasting impact of All-Star Superman, building Jupiter's Legacy, and more.
Podcasts collide! The hosts of "The Earth 2 Podcast," Peter Watson and David Steel, join Matt and Cale to discuss the graphic novel, "JLA: Earth 2" by Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely. Published in 2000 by DC Comics, "Earth 2" tells the tale of the Crime Syndicate of America. Ultraman, Owlman and Superwoman rule the planet with iron fists. When twisted, mirror image versions of the CSA arrive their perfect global corruption is threatened. Will the Crime Syndicate be able to defeat the lawful and righteous Justice League of America? Or will Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman disrupt the Crime Syndicate's world? This is the second collaboration we've examined between Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely (be sure to listen to our episode on "We3") and the third book we've discussed that was written by Grant Morrison (don't forget to check out our episode on "Batman: Arkham Asylum"). In this episode we make connections to the United States' war on terror and the rise of decompressed wide-screen storytelling in comics. Our guests, Peter and David, bring their encyclopedic knowledge of the DC Golden Age multiverse (something they explore every episode in their own podcast, "The Earth 2 Podcast"). And as proud Glaswegians, they share their tales of personal encounters with both Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely on the streets of Glasgow. Listen, follow and check out the social media for "The Earth 2 Podcast" here: https://linktr.ee/theearth2podcast. The show is available for FREE on Apple Podcasts, Pod Bean and more! You can also find "The Earth 2 Podcast" on Facebook @TheEarth2Podcast. And you can follow us on Instagram @mattandcalereadcomics, on Facebook @mattandcalereadcomics and on Twitter @mattandcaleread. We will be back in two weeks with our episode on Brian Michael Bendis' "Fortune and Glory"!
On this episode Tony sits down with returning co-host and Penguin herder Mr. Alan Henderson and talks about the three issue mini series from 2004 called We3. They discuss the story and script by Grant Morrison and dissect the art by Frank Quitely from the heady days of Vertigo Comics. Oh, how we miss them. You can check out Alan's hot new Kickstarter here and follow him on Twitter right here. Many thanks for listening.
I’d like to thank everyone who has helped us get to Episode 15 of WE3. And that’s me. I’d like to thank myself! We got a wide range of topics this week from the WandaVision’s finale episode, Brad’s gushing over the big black dragon, a review of Monster Hunter, Coming 2 America and Boss Level, Next Gen Upgrades, AEW’s Revolution and RuPaul’s Drag Race!! Oh, and Brian Powers is on the show giving his insight on everything he’s been watching and playing. Blink and you’ll miss it. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/watchplayrant/message
We3 continue the fair food conversation before moving onto Disneyland's interesting food options. Later, we get into Pam Waitt President of OC Restaurant Association Inc.
Will, Ben, and Zack discuss Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely's We3 from Vertigo.
In this episode, our comic aficionados read the tear jerker that is "We3." A big thanks goes out to our friend Jake Loney for suggesting the book. "We3" is a three-issue American comic book mini-series by writer Grant Morrison and artist Frank Quitely. The story follows 3 animal super weapons as they yearn to undo the cruel experiments done to them and try to regain their normal lives. If you have a graphic novel that you want us to cover on the show, please reach out by email (mattandcalerc@gmail.com) or follow us @mattandcalereadcomics on Instagram and Facebook or @mattandcaleread on Twitter.

Kurtis and Michael talk about the award-winning modern classic We3 by Grant Morrison and Frank Quietly. The story of three domestic animals that have been genetically enhanced to become killing machines is unlike anything out there in the comics world. Find out Kurtis and Michael's reactions to this touching tale.
On this episode Andy and Derek turn their critical sites on the work of Grant Morrison. Joining them in the discussion is Marc Singer, the author of Grant Morrison: Combining the Worlds of Contemporary Comics. Although much of the talk revolves around Morrison's non-superhero work - e.g., The Invisibles, The Filth, Seaguy, Flex Mentallo, We3, Sebastian O, The Mystery Play, and Happy! - Derek, Andy, and Marc bring into their discussion titles such as Arkham Asylum, Batman Gothic, Final Crisis, JLA, New X-Men, and Morrison's recent run on Action Comics. So whether you are a diehard superhero fan, or your tastes run more to alternative or non-mainstream comics, you'll definitely find this an episode worth listening to.
