Why hello again dear listener! It has been quite some time. And what have the boys been up to? Well, we're glad you asked: Shelterwood: A Suburban Gothic is a 16-part Docu-Horror Podcast written and produced by Stephen Indrisano. The show centers around one man's quest to find his long-lost sister in an infinite, monster-infested suburb beyond the veil. With primary inspirations like The Black Tapes, Silent Hill 2, and Limetown, Shelterwood will be one part Gothic, one part Found Footage, and one hundred percent terrifying. There's a ton of Stephen King influence in here, and we think you'd really enjoy it. Check out the campaign at bit.ly/shelterwoodpod for more details!

This week we dive head first into some Matthew Gray Gubler content with the 2015 horror comedy Suburban Gothic. Why watch a movie about a socially awkward adult man who sees ghosts and moves back in with his parents only to discover his house is haunted? Why because it stars Matthew Gray Gubler of course! And that alone is enough incentive for us. Talking points: celeb merch, our birthdays, Al Pacino, the cook at Olivia's work, the word ‘hottie', Olexa's obsession with Matthew Gray Gubler, letterboxd, The Holiday (2006), Ray Wise's appearance, the year 2015, MGG's fits, ghost law, Gangs of New York (2002), and Cameron Diaz's acting. Jason talks to Robert Patrick about his role in TONE-DEAF and advice for young actors. TONE-DEAF is written and directed by Richard Bates, Jr. (Trash Fire, Suburban Gothic), and stars Robert Patrick ("Scorpion," Terminator 2: Judgment Day) and Amanda Crew ("Silicon Valley," The Age of Adaline), about a young woman who rents an ornate country house to get away for the weekend only to discover that the eccentric widower Harvey is less eccentric than he is angry and homicidal. Running through the whole thing is a very sharp wit and a lot of 4th-wall monologuing from Robert Patrick as Harvey, a man losing a grip on his sanity and eager to share his many thoughts about what’s wrong with young people today. Hosted by Jason Henderson, editor of this Summer’s Castle of Horror Anthology Volume 1, available now.

Author Aaron Dries joins us for the first half of the show where we report back from CAMP FANGORIA, which included screenings of THE BURNING and SLEEPAWAY CAMP. Then we're joined by Ricky Bates, writer/director of cult classics EXCISION, SUBURBAN GOTHIC, and TRASH FIRE, and we get the scoop on the long, painful creative process that birthed his latest TONE-DEAF, starring Robert Patrick and Amanda Crew. A unique conversation with a unique filmmaker!
This week, we're fighting back the armies of darkness as we welcome Ray Santiago, horror icon and star of ASH VS. EVIL DEAD, SUBURBAN GOTHIC, and INTO THE DARK: THE BODY! Plus, Ray reveals what famous drag queen he'd really like to call him!
Filmmaker Ricky Bates, Jr. (TRASH FIRE, EXCISION, SUBURBAN GOTHIC) sits down with Adam, Joe, and Arwen for a fascinating and hilarious discussion about his career journey so far. From stacking Ikea bunk beds in his tiny apartment to house his crew… to playing Sundance for the first time... to working with the legendary John Waters… to creating characters that are honest outcasts… to the making of his latest film TONE DEAF (out this August), Ricky's self deprecating candor makes for a truly enjoyable and sincere conversation. Dr. Arwen dishes out both marketing tips and dating advice with her “Hollywood Therapy,” Ricky informs Joe of a shocking documentary that is right up his alley, and the guys share their love for the great Ray Wise in this wicked fun episode that succeeded in getting Ricky out of his house and around other people. Fan favorite Dede Crimmins from All Things Horror and Cinematic Essential joins Evan and Kris in this week’s episode. The three of them reminisce about QUANTUM LEAP and UNSOLVED MYSTERIES before Dede discusses her upcoming trip to the Fantasia International Film Festival. Once Kris and Evan recover from the recover from hearing the number of movies she plans to see, they ask her about some her favorites from the festival. Among them are DEATHGASM, SUBURBAN GOTHIC, and ABSENTIA. First, they cover Amy Schumer’s comedy TRAINWRECK, which is formulaic but a consistently funny human experience. After they get a chance to discuss Judd Apatow’s shortcomings they move on to reviewing Marvel’s ANT-MAN, a heist flick that’s also a superhero movie. Kris thinks it has a breeziness that’s been desperately lacking in Marvel movies. Evan and Dede agree, while adding that Paul Rudd has evolved from just a pretty face into the total package as an actor.
Hey, two weeks in a row! Who'd a thunk? This week, Casey and Colleen are joined by their daughter Delaney for a look at 2014's "Suburban Gothic" starring Matthew Gray Gubler, Kat Dennings, Ray Wise and some other familiar faces!
Excision was a favorite of most of your five favorite fingers, which made us eagerly anticipate director Richard Bates, Jr.'s follow-up, Suburban Gothic. Does it get SlasherCast approved stamped on it or will it dash the guys' dreams like that mysterious green filling in shitty chocolates? You have to listen to find out. Also, we give you a list of movies to watch next year with your horror loving Valentine and discuss changes in the show's schedule going forward. As always, your support of our partners supports the show: Suburban Gothic is available on Amazon VOD and iTunes. Music featured in this episode includes: The Suburbs by Arcade Fire Quick and to the Pointless by Queens of the Stone Age C.R.E.A.M. by El Michels Affair

On this episode we move our podcast back home, with the likes of the hotly debated MOMMA'S MAN vs. the ultimate 90s Miramax film in BEAUTIFUL GIRLS. This theme and pairing was inspired by the new release SUBURBAN GOTHIC and we talk with the director of photography for that film, Lucas Lee Graham.

Matthew Gray Gubler is best know for his long-standing role as the know-it-all Dr. Spencer Reid on CBS’s Criminal Minds, but Gubler is a true horror nerd at heart. At this year’s Fantasia Film Festival in Montreal, he was in town for the premiere of two upcoming horror flicks he recently completed, Suburban Gothic (co-starring Ray Wise) and Life After Beth (co-starring Aubrey Plaza). We caught up with Matthew to discuss his deep-rooted love of horror movies, his decade on Criminal Minds, and what it’s like to intern for Wes Anderson. Matthew couldn’t have been friendlier, and both Suburban Gothic & Life After Beth are definitely worth tracking down (and would actually make for a great double feature). For this episode we have Mr. Leland Palmer himself, Ray Wise! We caught up with Ray while he was in town for the World Premiere of his new film Suburban Gothic at the Fantasia Film Festival. We spoke to Ray about his role in the horror comedy Suburban Gothic, and about the new Twin Peaks : The Entire Mystery box set, which is finally available on blu ray today. The set includes both the US and International pilots, both seasons of the show, the Fire Walk With Me prequel, including 90 minutes of cut scenes, and a brand new sequence filmed by David Lynch.
