No, Summer is not "almost over!"It always happens around this time of year. Kids start going back to school and all the folks with children think that means Summer is over. They start yapping about it, stores have sales for it. Well, Summer isn't over, and I need you all to shut your mouth with trying to make it over. We got nearly 2 months left and I'm going to enjoy it.As I enjoy my Summer sun, Summer heat, and (of course) Summer beers I'm gonna be smelling good, too. Our buddy Seth come through town from Houston last week and, after showing him some of the Atlanta beer scene, he gave us a mess of Texas beer. I cracked into a Lone Pint Yellow Rose this week, and Brian was sipping some Spindletap 5% Tint and Martin House The Silk Road. Good seeing ya, Seth. Thanks for the beers. In the news this week Brooklyn and Carlsberg collab to do a larger release of a beer brewed with fonio. We've talked about this tough grain on past episodes and it's cool to see what they do with it. Diageo is down overall, but Guinness is killing it. Tilray's craft beer bet is paying off. What started with the acquisition of Sweetwater Brewing has grown to a substantial portfolio of breweries. Most recently purchasing a handful from AB InBev a year ago.Have a great week, enjoy some great beers, and don't forget IT'S STILL SUMMER!Thanks for listening to Beer Guys Radio! Cue the Meatballs theme song…are you ready for the summer? It's a Roger episode, specifically summer beers. And while it's still spring, we record this episode when it's swelteringly hot. Seasonality means almost nothing in beer now, which means we have summer beers already (and we'll have Oktoberfest beers in July). Summer beers should be-as a guest once said- “CRUSHABLE”. That means they're very drinkable, which is probably why breweries love summer beers so much. After sneaking in an 8.5% hard cider during last year's Summer Beer episode, Roger understood the assignment this year. Some of these beers are seasonal offerings, while some of them are year-round beers that fit the general idea of an easy-drinking beer that you want to load into a cooler and drink very cold. Drink along at home with the following crushable summer beers: Brooklyn Summer Ale Saison Dupont Off Color Beer For Golf 21st Amendment Hell of High Watermelon Bell's Tropical Oberon Great Lakes Tropicoastal Goose Island 312 Lemonade Shandy If you have a question for the Barrel to Bottle Crew, email us at comments@binnys.com, or reach out to us on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram. The news doesn’t slow down for the summer, we had quite a few breaking stories this week from around the globe! We discuss the Asian beer market and its impact on a potential AB IPO for China, then head to Canada to discuss some possible changes to how provinces sell beer. We make a quick stop in the US to hear about the final beer in Ommegang’s popular Game of Thrones series then jump back overseas to cover the World Cup in Qatar and learn why you shouldn’t try to sell North Korean beer online. We end with a feel good story about the new 6pk rings now in use that are biodegradable and feed marine life! For last week’s #caskquiz we wanted to know whom do you follow on social media that everyone else should be? And on which social media platform? We are continuing this #caskquiz for another week since we recorded a bit early! We so love hearing from you! This is a Crabcake from The Maryland Crabs! What is a Crabcake? Well, it's a very short snippet of something you need to know. It might be 5 minutes long..or it might be 20....or longer in this case, because..well...beer! In any event, enjoy your Maryland Crabcake! Today, we continue our monthly series (no set schedule other than monthly) about beer. We have a huge distributer of beer right here in Annapolis--Katcef Brothers Inc. and they have a ton of experts on hand to de-mystify beer for us. Now, full disclosure--I like beer! I like beer a lot! But, I am not a beer snob and a Bud Light will suit me just fine. This month, it is all about the summer beers of which many don't really seem to be beers at all! As for the beer... on tap (pun intended) is the line up of Stella, Floyds, Innis and Gunn, New Belgium, and Troegs! Warning, we go off topic quite a bit, but as Lauren said...have a great summer but "drink wiser" and be safe! Have a listen as this episode unfolds. A quick note on the sound-- we screwed up and forgot a critical piece to the recording process--the memory card. So this was recorded using Plan B--which we always have! LINKS: Stella Artois Spritzer Floyds Spiked Lemonade, Iced Tea, and Half and Half! Innis & Gunn New Belgium Troegs Victory Come along on our beer journey!
Things we talked about: Huge shout out to Sound Pollination and Book It: Sports With John and Greg for plugging our show. Go check them out! The boys jump right into basketball- especially all of the drama with Russell Westbrook. Hockey is fun, apparently, and Moose and Nate's regional favorites are playing against each other in the second round. The guys are going to do their egg shot this weekend, so make sure you stay tuned to our social media pages to watch it unfold. With the weather heating up, the guys give their favorite summertime drinks. Nate reviews a "Naturday" on air. Ben doesn't know who Vlad Guerrero, or his son, is. Nate and Moose trade opinions on the Giant's first round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. Ben wants you to get off your phone, Moose wants you to watch a documentary about Motley Crue, and Nate wants you to watch videos of "furries." Just another fun filled episode of Everyone Has A Sports Podcast!

Did you know that Popular Mechanics editor Matt Allyn is a certified beer judge? Well, he is, and lately, he's been trying truckloads of beer for an article he's working on called 500 Beers of Summer. If he told us about all of them, it would take the next four episodes, so we kept him to five, all of which are exceptionally tasty. Also on this episode, Roy Berendsohn works too much and throws out his lower back, we learn 26 things you can do with a heat gun, and Kevin Dupzyk gets started in sailing.
Wherein we talk about towels as blankets, getting pillaged at pool, Indiana Jones video games, and movies that slip into the Uncanny Valley. Then we fall into a Bat-Spiral as we discuss the merits of Mask of the Phantasm as the best Batman film, Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill, The Killing Joke animated movie and Batman marrying Catwoman. We also touch on Jurassic World 2, movie trailers that betray the storytellers intent, Shape of Water vs. Blade Runner 2049, and we briefly revist Batman before going through a quite a few recent sad celebrity deaths. We also discuss Spinnaker's Summer Beer Launch party and debate which of their new lineup is the best. Is it the Iced Tea Pale Ale, Raspberry Lager or Peach Paradise Hefe? Final vote was divided but we did agree they all make a great refreshing summer beer. Or as Ron always judges them: "They're all perfect lawn mowing beers". This episode was sponsored by Spinnakers (http://www.spinnakers.com/) and features returning guest Nic, who used to work at Spinnakers! It's almost like we planned it.
