Pezzner on The DJ Sessions presented by Covert Bat Productions 5/15/20 About Pezzner -  David Brian Pezzner was born in Tarzana, California in 1975 and currently lives in Seattle, Washington. He is 5 foot 7 inches in height and weighs about 165 lbs. His brother, Bill works at the Port Of Seattle and has four children, two of whom are actually step-children. Bill's wife owns a local publication and is a skilled bicyclist (even though she has not gone professional.) When David works in his studio where he makes electronic music, his wife brings him a drink and discusses her day. The door-keeper comes in to give him a telegram sent the previous year from the Eolian Islands. In 2010 he wrote an album of music which was released by Freerange records. A year later David's first and only daughter, Eloise Sylvia was born. She was 5 pounds 11 ounces at birth. David spoke only English and cooked meals for his family every day until 2013 when a company called Systematic Recordings contracted him for another album. Besides writing music for night clubs and headphones, Pezzner composes music for vision and function, and teaches electronic music writing concepts to private students. He sleeps exactly like any other man but, as you will no doubt have noticed, he is not an orthodox painter of the old school, but rather a modern artist. A designer. Ernest Hemingway liked his cocktails strong, fresh, and slightly bitter. So his favorite bar in Havana, Cuba, created a Daiquiri-like cocktail for him with no sugar but double the alcohol. This eye-catching red cocktail got the name Hemingway Sour and we are honoured to present Namito’s interpretation of it! Namito, or Ali Khalaj with his real name, grew up in Iran and escaped to Berlin during the Iranian revolution and the region’s subsequent years of war. In the commune of the Osho cult he learned to DJ, and, after the fall of the Berlin Wall, Namito’s exceptional skills landed himself a residency at the legendary Tresor club and he became an ever present force within Berlin’s expanding techno scene. The Tresor residency was the kick-start of an exceptional career of the DJ and producer including other high profile residencies, various full-length albums, collaborations with the world’s best producers and releasing on imprints such as Kompakt, Systematic Recordings or Kling Klong. Recently, the lead single of Namito’s 2018 album, “Letting Go”, a collaboration with Ruede Hagelstein, was widely regarded as one of the year’s best tracks. Stone Flower, another outstanding piece of music released in 2019 on the lovely Sol Selectas, topped the dancefloor charts for a long time and is still in heavy rotation across the globe. Namito’s productions have a very intimate, personal character, as art is his way to process struggles. In uncertain times, not matter if as an artists or just in general, it’s helpful to hear from people like him; it reminds us that there always is room for optimism in the throes of chaos and despair. The Berlin based Iranian DJ, producer, and ‘Ubersee Music’ label figurehead has had a number of heavyweight releases throughout the years on labels such as ‘Kompakt’, ‘Systematic Recordings’, and ‘Kling Klong’, and his ascendance to relevancy was finally confirmed, when his ground-breaking album 'Letting Go', hit the number one spot on Beatport towards the end of 2018. The lead single, a collaboration with Ruede Hagelstein, was widely regarded as one of last year's best tracks, with Joris Voorn, Guy J, Adriatique, and Bebetta, all featuring it in their charts. Namito continues to go from strength-to-strength, with his latest production 'Stone Flower', set to be released on the Sol Selectas imprint next week. Spirit Catcher are in fact two: Belgian engineer Jean Vanesse and keyboard player Thomas Sohet are both consistent with what they do, they’ve built a reputation through their dynamic live performances and superb productions. More recently Spirit Catcher have been releasing more groove-based techno and house cuts on 2020 Vision and Systematic Recordings, and have even compiled their debut mix CD for NRK. Rod B. & Alvaro Garfunk bring you the Miami Underground Movement     Rob Acid, Sontec, Dicabor, Alton Inc, Acid Warrior Straight out of Cologne in 1993, under the pseudonym Rob Acid, Babicz released his first single Happy Answer on London Records, which unexpectedly became a huge club hit. With the rise of acid house influenced records dominating the charts, Babicz was able to ride high on this new wave of club culture. In addition to becoming an in demand live performer using one of his other names, Acid Warrior, Babicz started to release singles on high profile imprints like Kompakt, Treibstoff and Steve Bug’s Audiomatique, as well as his own label, Junkfood In what Rob appropriately dubs “the rave years” in the mid-nineties, he was already playing all over the world. During this time Babicz teamed up with Mate Galic and psychedelic sonic experiences of every kind followed, which as Rob himself sums up perfectly came as a result of “excessive sound-research and absurd parties… transistor radio and porn films on big screen”. His affiliation with Force Inc a few years later brought a series of more experimental, less dancefloor-orientated works which suggested his theoretical musique concrete roots. By the turn of the new millennium, Babicz was striving for a different sound and thus began a new label, Shortcut. At the same time, he received multiple requests for sound design from hard and software producers, most notably resulting in the presets he produced for Native Instruments. In 2007 Robert released his landmark record, A Cheerful Temper on Systematic Recordings, which expertly moves between electronica, techno, minimal and classic house. Playing ‘live’ has always been a key feature of Babicz’s authentic musicianship; improvising instead of reeling off pre-determined sets has made his celebrated shows unquestionably unique events. He consistently delivers astonishing performances of his own productions built around warm melodies, blissed atmospherics & analogue bass - sometimes jacking, but mostly tripping and always around the foundations of his first love: techno. Consequently, Babicz has more than proven his worth in the world of dance music and his right to the title of pioneer and innovator, whether producing tech house, minimal or acid techno.
