On this episode of Double Tap, Steven and Shaun break down the latest rumors surrounding Meta's upcoming Hypernova smart glasses. With prices rumored to start at over $1,000, they debate the practicality of AR displays in smart glasses and how accessible (or not) they might be for blind users. The discussion digs into Meta's broader wearable strategy, comparing it to past attempts like Google Glass and current AI-driven tools such as Be My Eyes and Aira.Listener emails pour in, ranging from app organization tips to feedback on Braille displays and screen reader tech. Rebecca raises concerns over the constant delays in assistive tech product launches like the Optima and Orbit Player, while Steven defends the need for accessible glucose monitoring—especially when the NHS doesn't always recognize accessibility as a necessity.Steven also dives deep into document accessibility tools, sharing his experiences using Scribe and DocuScan Plus from Numa Solutions for converting inaccessible PDFs into readable and audio-friendly formats. The episode highlights the growing utility of these tools and why OCR still matters even in the age of AI.Get in touch with Double Tap by emailing us feedback@doubletaponair.com or by call 1-877-803-4567 and leave us a voicemail.

The first minutes of a binary-driven hypernova by L. M. Becerra et al. on Thursday 22 September We simulate the first minutes of the evolution of a binary-driven hypernova (BdHN) event, with a special focus on the associated accretion processes of supernova (SN) ejecta onto the newborn neutron star ($nu$NS) and the NS companion. We calculate the rotational evolution of the $nu$NS and the NS under the torques exerted by the accreted matter and the magnetic field. We take into account general relativistic effects and use realistic hypercritical accretion rates obtained from three-dimensional smoothed-particle-hydrodynamics (SPH) numerical simulations of the BdHN for a variety of orbital periods. We show that the rotation power of the $nu$NS has a unique double-peak structure while that of the NS has a single peak. These peaks are of comparable intensity and can occur very close in time or even simultaneously depending on the orbital period and the initial angular momentum of the stars. We outline the consequences of the above features in the early emission and their consequent observation in long gamma-ray bursts (GRBs). arXiv: http://arxiv.org/abs/http://arxiv.org/abs/2208.03069v2

What's more, Mercedes didn't make sure the 12-hour trip happened in perfect or uniform conditions, but rather a variety of environments people might actually experience. - The road trip included 87-mph stints on the Autobahn - At the end of its journey, the Vision EQXX still had 87 miles of range left, amounting to a theoretical range exceeding 700 miles. - During 626 miles of driving, the concept car consumed one kilowatt-hour (kWh) for every 7.1 miles traveled. - The Vision EQXX managed its feat with a 100-kWh battery pack Original Source : https://www.businessinsider.com/mercedes-electric-car-626-mile-range-tesla-2022-4?r=US&IR=T TESLA MODEL Y JOINS GRAVITY'S FLEET OF ALL-ELECTRIC NYC YELLOW CABS - Gravity is debuting a new fleet of Tesla Model Y yellow taxis in New York City in the latest expansion of its fully electric taxi fleet. - The new Model Y yellow cabs will add to Gravity's existing fleet comprised of Ford Mustang Mach-E crossovers, active since December 2021. TESLA DELAYS ITS CYBERTRUCK PRODUCTION TO LATE 2022 - Elon Musk recently confirmed that the production of its upcoming electric pickup truck Cybertruck is deferred to late 2022. A couple of years ago in 2019, Cybertruck was first announced by Tesla, initially scheduled to hit the roads by the end of 2021, making it the first electric pickup truck to foray into the markets. - Over the last year, numerous incidents cropped up to suggest that the Cybertruck timeline is on shaky grounds. It is only recently that Tesla concluded the engineering design of the electric pickup truck. - In April, Musk informed that both the Cybertruck and the Semi will be powered by new, larger battery cells that the company is making on a pilot line in California. However, he alerted that the mass manufacturing of those cells will roughly take 12 to 18 months more - Musk also confirmed that due to the new and innovative technology required in the electric pickup truck, the company does not expect a production ramp-up and anticipates volume recognition from the same as late as the end of 2023. In both cases, the EPA Combined range rating for the Launch Edition versions, with "Large Pack" and 21" wheels are about 5% better than the initial brief estimation of 300 miles (483 km). The Rivian R1T will be able to go 314 miles (505 km), while the Rivian R1S goes 316 miles (508 km). Other versions might get different results (more on that below). Let's recall that the company has not revealed the battery capacity, but we can assume that it's somewhere around 150 kWh. - Rivian released info on how the wheel size will affect the range: 20" All-Terrain - 10-15% reduction so 267-283 miles (430-455 km) 21" Road - 314 miles (505 km) 22" Sport - 5-10% reduction so 283-298 miles (455-479 km) - In January 2022, the company intends to launch a 400+ mile (644+ km) range version, and at some point introduce also a 250+ mile (402+ km) range version. Now according to a report from Digitimes, Apple is said to be meeting with executives at Toyota to mass produce its Apple Car. - In July, LG Electronics finalized its new joint venture agreement with automotive supplier Magna International Inc. that will develop e-powertrains and other components for electric vehicles.

Russ gives a presentation, with slides, about the standard model processes that take place in stars to generate elements, how that process eventually results in novas and supernovas, and how supernovas and other similar very high energy events generate cosmic rays. When these cosmic rays hit earth, they result in "cosmogenic nuclides" like the radioactive Carbon 14 that is so often used to date material in archaeological settings. We also run through a short list of the most often used dating techniques, how they work, what the problems are, what the ranges are, and what the margins of error are. We also look at the various assumptions and methods and theory behind these techniques.

Streaming music is more popular than ever. But it pays nothing. I can’t help but wonder how many of these incredible artists will continue creating music. So as you listen to this show, I want you to think about how you can help these amazing artists. In fact, I might throw out a few suggestions during the show. Email a voicemail message to celticpodcast@gmail.com Jason Denen emailed: "Hey Marc, thanks so much for all the celtic Christmas music. This episode had so many wonderful tracks I hadn't heard before. I'm lucky to have a job where I can work from home, but being in the same spot every days gets wearying. It's great to have new music to fill the space. I find most Christmas music that gets played on the radio trends to the same old tracks. I do like the classics, but they get so overplayed during the holidays." Georgy Grigoryev emailed: "Hi Marc, Is it possible to listen Irish and Celtic music podcast on Spotify? I tried to look for it but there’s no results." Sadly, no but you can enjoy the Celtic Top 20 on Spotify through our Top Irish & Celtic Music Playlist. This playlist has many of the tracks featured on the Celtic Top 20 for the past 15 years. Sadly, it doesn’t have all. Some are no longer available. But it has most of them. J Dickerson saw my moniker and asked: "Ok. What does Celtfather mean?" Celtfather was a nickname given to me by Les Howard of The Signal Podcast. I was one of the earliest and biggest promoters of independent Celtic music on the internet starting back in 1999. Everyone else was going through the traditional promotional means through radio, magazines and anywhere a publicist would send your material. I took a different strategy. I created an internet newsletter and website with the Celtic Music Magazine. In 2005, I started the Irish & Celtic Music Podcast. I soon had the #1 most-downloaded podcast for Celtic music in the world. So when I met Les, he came up with The Celtfather moniker. I loved it and started using it to brand myself. Of course, in 2010, it took on new meaning when my first daughter was born.

Have you ever wondered what is the most powerful thing in universe? Astronomers believe it’s the energy that's released in the Gamma Ray Burst that comes from a Hypernova. That's a burst that's beloved to be as much as fifty times more energetic than a supernova. In their quest for more information on these events, astronomers want to know more about them. In Philippians, Paul casts his attention to something even more powerful, comforting, and of wonderful importance for you and me this very day.

My wife and I listen to your podcast all the time, whether it’s driving to visit family, or just to chill in the living room. I’ve taken up home brewing, specifically mead, and naturally listen while working on it. Unfortunately, shipping alcohol is a nightmare, but if you can get to North Texas, I promise to leave you a bottle on our porch (because distancing, sorry). Thanks for all your hard work." W. Ed Harris emailed: "Hey Marc! I just signed up to become a Podcast Patron. I think it’s wonderful what you are doing and I am going to make every effort to be more engaged/supportive! I am a Celtic multi-instrumentalist and do everything myself throughout the recording/release process. I will be releasing my 8th album within the next few weeks and I have 100+ YouTube videos out. I believe you may have featured me in the past in that we follow on FB Page as well. I also had a tune aired on Celtic Roots Podcast very recently and wanted to take this opportunity in sending you the video link on the tune as well. Again, Thanks so much for all you do and I look forward in getting more immersed in this wonderful culture (my heritage as well)! Sláinte my friend!" Just look how relaxed he is! Your show is one of the best parts of our week, and I’m so thankful we have someone carrying on these positive, welcoming and inclusive Celtic traditions. PS - as much Runa as possible, please! Best, Charlie (and Rhody)" Eric emailed some videos from his home: "Hi Marc. From time to time I listen to your podcast, which i think is really awesome - bringing the finest Irish and Celtic music to us and the world. A few episodes ago you asked about a possible location to go for. For quite some time I thought the region I live in could be a place you would like, but I always threw this thought away - not this time. It is a very historical and very interesting place, but not as famous as Ireland or Scotland. Although the country looks a little similar and the music is also not far off. We even have our own dialect "Plattdeutsch" which is recognized as its own language. I'm sure, now you are excited. I live in the northern part of Germany ca. 4km from the danish border, where I travel each day to work. In the past, this region often changed between Germany and Denmark. Originally it is the home of the Vikings with its trading center Haithabu (Hedeby in English), located at the end of the "Schlei", which is a fjord. Haithabu is still a location, but nowadays it is a museum including a historical village and it belongs to the city of Schleswig. Here, you can make yourself a picture of my home region, the Schlei: Video, Hedeby, World Heritage page. There are some clubs in this region that keep the old way of living alive like in the village of Haithabu or in Wallsbüll (Valsbøl in danish) where each year the battle of Wallsbüll is shown. There are some bands that play music in our dialect, but they are hard to find e.g. on YouTube. The local radio station may help to find them. Three times a week, in the evening this radio station broadcasts in our local dialect including such bands. Hope you find my notes interesting. If you have questions, just let me know. Slainte and have a great weekend!"

The problem is that I am on lockdown due to the COVID-19 virus. Many of you are too. Yet, I had a few emails from Patons of the Podcast especially as well as regular listeners saying, “thank you for bringing some Celtic music joy to a world turned upside down”. I know we have over 450 episodes for you to enjoy while you’re stuck at home. Nevertheless I decided to release this bonus episode of the podcast. And it’s not just a bonus episode. This is another extra-long episode. I compiled it rather quickly. But I hope you enjoy this offering. I’m not gonna talk too much. So thanks to my generous patrons and to each and every one of you. Please wash your hands, stay at home if you can, and be safe. So let’s get rolling... CELTIC PODCAST NEWS The past month was pretty devastating for Celtic musicians. Our biggest month of the year was effectively canned. We have no idea when we will be able to perform in front of live audiences again. And even when we are able, will audiences come out? Some of us are better off than others. That’s because we have Patreon pages for our music. Just like for the podcast, fans can support some Celtic bands by making a monthly pledge to their music. Sometimes you get some digital goodies for your generosity too. There are about 20 Celtic musicians and bands with Patreon pages. I compiled a list of Celtic musicians on Patreon. Follow the link for details. THANK YOU PATRONS OF THE PODCAST! Because of Your kind and generous support, this show comes out every week. You can send a written comment along with a picture of what you're doing while listening. Email a voicemail message to celticpodcast@gmail.com The band Kinnfolk posted this little online. I asked if I could share it. “Call me cynical, but I've always assumed that the world is moving away from live, local music. Our phones are too distracting; instead of looking out into the world around us, our heads are bowed over our screens, or we're busy trying to snap the perfect photo to be enjoyed later on Instagram. Or even when we are alert and engaged...it's so easy to pull up YouTube and summon a musical performance from any place in the world, any moment in time, any musician we choose. How can a local musician even matter, in a world like this? That's what I thought. Over the past two years, this community has shown me time and time again that local music is not only relevant, but is a profound means of connecting with other human beings. I'm reminded of this every time we see repeat faces in the audience. Every time someone dances. Every time a busy bar goes still. Every time I see tears after a performance of "Danny Boy" or "Kilkelly, Ireland." Every time a child wanders to the stage and watches, fascinated, as we play. I'm reminded that music is not only something we do, but something we give. And so, as always, thank you all. For listening to our music, attending our shows, chatting with us online. Performance is a circle, and our music is meaningful because of these little moments of connection with you.

The Irish & Celtic Music Podcast is a for-profit endeavor that is funded by you. I cannot pay royalties to artists because of the nature of podcast. It’s cost-prohibitive. You can read about that on my website. So I found a different way to give back. A portion of the money raised from compilation CD sales and from your Patreon donations is donated to Celtic Non-Profits. We already donated money to the Savannah Irish Festival to help some of the artists featured on this podcast. We are also sponsoring the Texas Scottish Festival in May. And now in September, we’re also sponsoring Middle Tennessee Highland Games & Celtic Festival. We have donated over $35,000 to Celtic Non-Profits. But I want to stress, that’s not me. That’s all of us. Everyone who supports this podcast is supporting Celtic culture through music. These festivals bring our musical heritage alive. So thank you for being a part of that. CELTIC PODCAST NEWS While you’re there, I want to ask you to post a review on Apple Podcasts. Right now, we are 37 reviews away from 1000. That’s incredible to think about especially considering I haven’t asked anyone to post a review in a long time. If you listen to podcasts, I want to recommend a couple that I enjoy and are Celtic in nature. Irish Music Stories is put out by Irish musician Shannon Heaton. She looks at the bigger stories behind traditional Irish music. It’s extremely well-produced and well worth subscribing Erin’s Isle is a short travel podcast. Erin brings you the delightful parts of Ireland in intriguing stories that’ll make you want to learn more. Her show is even syndicated on Aer Lingus and British Airways. It’s that good. And a lot of fun! If you want more St Patrick’s Day music, check out the St Patrick’s Day podcast. It’s a 7-part series I released years ago. It’s music with minimal chatting. It’s perfect for playing in the background of your own Paddy’s Day party. I’d be negligent if I didn’t tell you about my own personal podcast. The Pub Songs Podcast is the virtual public house for Celtic Geek culture. I put together several St Patrick’s Day episodes including the latest which is a Sci Fi St Patrick’s Day. Because, well, I’m a geek. You can find more podcasts by me and others in my Mage Podcast Network or when you subscribe to the Celtic Music Magazine. I just found the podcast this week and I am really enjoying it! I’ve been diving into Celtic music after Ancestry.com helped me track my heritage back to Scotland in the 1700s. The Southwest Virginia region was a popular place for Scots-Irish to settle because it reminded them of home. In fact my home town is named “Dublin”. Thanks!" Tom Cochran emailed a photo: "Hi Mark, Listening to show #442 while printing invitations to our upcoming Burns Night Dinner. We have hosted this in our community for 15 years now and it has grown from 10 people in our living room to 50 or so in a local hall. We invite friends, some whom are musicians or actors to participate by reciting Robert Burns poetry or singing songs. Some sing other Scottish or Irish songs or present their own songs poetry. It’s also a pot luck with lot’s of great food ( I provide the haggis.) and drink. There’s dancing and laughing and a wonderful sense of community. I know Burns Nights come in various forms from very serious to very silly but I recommend that everyone should experience one. They usually happen around his birthday, January 25 and they happen around the world so you can usually find one nearby. On a different topic, you read a letter on the show by a lady who attended a Highland Games. She was asking what the event was where the hay stuffed bag was thrown with the pitch fork. It’s called the Sheath Toss. Thanks again for all you do to promote Celtic culture."

Second, you had every right to defend your friend/guest host from inappropriate and mean-spirited comments. Also, as someone who has listened to the podcast since sometime during its first year of existence, I think it should be pretty obvious by now that listening to all aspects of Irish and Celtic music and exploring all aspects of the culture has always been what this podcast is about. It seems to me that if you were to bow to the desires and wishes of these internet trolls, you would be going against the very well-established tenets that your podcast has always been based on. This isn't whatever it is these trolls are trying to turn it into. In fact, the only people who are trying to politicize your podcast appear to be those trolls themselves, as far as I can tell. I will continue to listen to and support the podcast for as long as it goes on, and I want to thank you for all that you do to make it such a great podcast." #celticmusic #irishmusic #irishcelticmusic

King Raam is an Iranian-born musician now living in Vancouver, Canada. He is the lead singer of the punk rock band Hypernova and is currently touring as a solo artist with his show ”Departure: The Story of My Life.” Raam talks about his experience with psychedelics and how they opened new doors of healing after his family was dealt a year of tragedy which continues to unfold. We go into the backstory briefly, but you can hear the detailed version on the Tangentially Speaking podcast. Raam's father, Professor Kavous Seyed-Emami, was a prominent Iranian environmentalist who was arrested and falsely accused of being a foreign spy. He died in prison under suspicious circumstances, now Raam and his brother continue to pressure the Iranian government for answers. Most importantly, King Raam’s real name is Ramin Seyed-Emami. Which makes this the first ever Ramin-on-Ramin episode of Rainbow Brainskull. What a great time to be a Ramin! Also, if you’re in any of these cities you can catch King Raam on tour this month: May 28, 29 in Montreal May 30, 31 in Toronto June 8 in London, UK Tix at: http://www.kingraam.com Learn more about King Raam: http://www.kingraam.com http://instagram.com/kingraam Links mentioned in this episode: http://rainbowbrainskull.com http://raminnazer.com This podcast was recorded at Rainbow Brainskull Studios in Los Angeles, CA.

Hypernova Escape from Hadea looks like an RTS to the uninitiated and in many ways it does play like one. However, it is clear that there are a lot of tower defence aspects to it as well that make it somewhat different from your average base-building experience. Hypernova Escape from Hadea is a beautifully realised game and show host Chris ORegan talks to Actalogic about their origins and how Hypernova Escape from Hadea came to be. http://media.blubrry.com/caneandrinse/caneandrinse.com/sausage/TSF_Episode162.mp3
Kuo alsuoja Iranas, pasakojo ir iš šios šalies kilusios grupės bei atlikėjai – klausėmės „Take It Easy Hospital“, „Langtunes“, „The Yellow Dogs“, „Hypernova“, Sogand.
