It's another bag of random nonsense this week, as Paul and Eli bravely dive into a troubling world of second hand treats and terrors. As donated to us by Ash at the October live show (viewable on YouTube now!), it's a bag with a proper mix of tat. What follows is another typically CheapShow wild ride covering the horrors of TikTok, dog treat toys, VHS based board games, advice from Timmy Mallett, unbelievably awful pun work, pyramid puzzles, and a wallet of DVDs with a grotty surprise! To make things more maddening, Eli is desperate to try out a brand new character but because Paul is poor evil, there is a very good chance this new character will be dead on arrival. If you want to know how old Paul and Eli feel these days, this episode will give you a very clear answer to that question! More late drama in League A as Scotland rescue their place in the top division, for the time being, thanks to Andy Robertson's last minute winner against Poland.Finishing third means we miss out on Pot 1 for the World Cup qualifiers but there's a small chance we can still make it into Pot 2. And we now face a play off to stay in the top flight, thanks to John McGinn and captain Robbo, rather than automatic relegation which seemed inevitable earlier in the tournament. Andrew Slaven is joined by TNT Sports' Laura Brannan and Melbourne City's Findlay Marks as they break down why this is a big result for future qualifications.Meanwhile, elsewhere Dumbarton are going into administration, Rangers boss Philippe Clement is being linked with the Belgium job and Timmy Mallett is a Stranraer fan?!RUNNING ORDER:00:00: INTRO28:11: INTERNATIONAL ROUND UP: Scotland beat Croatia and Poland, and here's all the permutations ahead of the World Cup draw24:38: NEWS: Dumbarton are struggling and is Philippe Clement leaving Rangers?29:52: FUNNIES: Remember Timmy Mallett?! It's Wembley-Eve so we talk about Kenny Everett, Timmy Mallett and Jim Smith's Mogadon monkey glove puppet. We're quite excited, actually.
Timmy Mallett, former DJ and 1980s children's TV presenter, is creating a social media storm, during a cycle tour around Northern Ireland, in tribute to his late brother, Martin who had Down's Syndrome. Timmy Mallett was a massive star on children's TV in the 1980s and 90s. He honed his zany style of presenting on Piccadilly Radio in Manchester. Amongst his helpers were a teenage Chris Evans and the Today programme's Nick Robinson. He then went on to breakfast television where he presented the Wide Awake Club with Michaela Strachan and then Wacaday. A generation of children grew up watching him and his trusty foam mallet, Pinky Punky which he used to bonk competitors on the head when they stumbled or hesitated in his word association game Mallett's Mallet. Nowadays, he's swapped the Mallet for the artist's palette and is as successful at art as he was at children's TV presenting. At the age of 68, he's cycling round Northern Ireland, giving mini history lessons and tour guides on TikTok whilst painting scenes of his travels in memory of his late brother. Foxy calls him The Professor. You might know him as The Funster. But his passport says Paul Carrington. Paul has to be one of the most well known presenters in the north of England and is guaranteed to have worked on a station near you, if you live north of Sutton-cum-Duckmanton. Piccadilly, Signal, Viking, Buzz, Minster, Pulse - We'll let Paul tell you the rest. There's stories about working for Timmy Mallett (along with Professor Brain Cox, Chris Evans and Nick Robinson); how he helped the biggest pop group of the 80s escape a hoard of screaming fans (involves an old Ford Escort); and how he's embarrassed about being The Funster. It's a long one (so we'll keep this bit short), but absolutely worth sticking with to the end. Enjoy!

Nick and Angela are overjoyed to welcome their biggest fan to DISH HQ. In 1983 a young lad from Warrington began his professional career on Piccadilly Radio in Manchester. Forty years on and Chris Evans is a legend of TV and Radio broadcasting, with the Big Breakfast, the Radio 1 Breakfast Show and TFI Friday garnering cult status. Chris has also found time to pen some books on his incredible life and his passion, running, which he took up age 47. He now presents the Virgin Radio Breakfast show, weekday mornings from 6.30am. Chris Evans doesn't do podcasts, but agreed to appear on DISH (because he loves us) to promote CarFest which is the biggest family fundraising festival in the UK. CarFest has raised over 25 million pounds for charity in 12 years. This year's event is taking place on the August bank holiday weekend. Tickets are available at www.carfest.org Angela prepares a delicious meal of orange and herb butter spatchcock chicken with french fries for our guest of honour, who is a big fan of both, while Nick pours the Cave de Lugny Chardonnay Mâcon-Villages. Having eagerly plugged CarFest, Chris Evans does what he does best: tell stories. He shares some emotional memories of his mum's hotpot, his philosophy on drinking after years of hedonism and why Timmy Mallett is his hero. Just so you know, our podcast might contain the occasional mild swear word or adult theme. What time is it? It's time for the Chris Moyles Show on Radio X Podcast! We were without our beloved newsreader Dominic Byrne this week, so Pippa took over some of his duties, including reading out his letters feature. That led to a whole chat about cosplay, and how innocent it all is (or isn't). Our visual producer, Sam, went on holiday this week as well, and 'accidentally' dyed his hair blonde/orange after a few wines. Chris then revealed that his personal trainer once was a stripper, managed by his dad! Normal stuff! Timmy Mallett joined the team for a chat, after his bike ride around the UK coastline ended, before Intern Dr Pepper (or Danny to his friends) played a game with the team, called 'Yeah!' We finished with Pippa having a go at presenting on the station, before we said goodbye to Intern Dr Pepper with some surprise gifts. But if that wasn't enough…. - A run in with a Spanish Cleaner - James' favourite parody songs - Pippa told us about the time she ran the London Marathon (she kept that quiet) Enjoy! That's right, it's time for another edition of the Chris Moyles Show on Radio X Podcast. In a very busy and weird week, we caught up with Pippa after her Hen Do, and had a little suprise waiting for her. It was the hottest day ever recorded, which lead to John Kettley, famous weatherman, featuring on the news. Cue a campaign by Chris to get A Tribe of Toffs' 80s track, 'John Kettley Is A Weather Man', to number 1 in the iTunes chart. Timmy Mallett later joined the show to give us his latest update on his bike tour of the coast of Great Britain, before an exciting Who Are You guest that Chris knew INSTANTLY... but took Dom a little while to get. We then spoke to Issy Panayis, who presents from 4am to 6:30am every weekday, ahead of her festival trip, which lead us down the very strange path of people streaming themselves sleeping on Twitch. This gave us the opportunity to prank Dom, and set up a Twitch stream from “his bedroom” where we left him to sleep in front of thousands of people. Actually paid to sleep. But if that wasn't enough…. -Matt's Big French Sausages -Pippa's Saucy Book -Dom's Magazines in Bushes Enjoy! The Chris Moyles Show on Radio X Weekdays 6:30-10am
This week's episode, we pop to Africa and gross ourselves out by having to say 'Rhodesia' a lot. In 1975, Herbert Chitepo was assassinated by a car bomb, which was so powerful it also claimed the lives of others. Herbert was the first black barrister in Rhodesia and a prominent figure in the fight for independence and the reclamation of Zimbabwe. However, some thought he was too moderate which means the list of suspects isn't just limited to his political enemies and the Rhodesian administration, but also potentially more militant rivals ostensibly on the same side.So who planted the car bomb?We also get sidetracked about the semantics of a head transplant (still not sure how) and give Timmy Mallett some props. Hello podcast listener! This is the Chris Moyles Show on Radio X Podcast. What happened this week, you ask? Well, Chris is back from his two week holiday, and tells the team about his Dubai facial experience. With Dominic Byrne off this week, Dom Ellis sat in as newsreader, and told the team all about his anniversary tiramisu, whilst Chris also tested Dom's ability to read the weather whilst hearing his own voice back, with a half-second delay. Harder than it sounds! Timmy Mallett came on the show to talk about his tour of Britain on his bike, which lead the team to play their own game of Mallett's Mallet from Wacaday, with a questionable home-made mallet. The team did another text roll call, asking friends and family to text them live to see who was listening, although it didn't go as expected for Chris… But that's not all! - Chris Tarrant Impressions - Sam's Broken Toe - Some brand new WhatsApp Message Parodies Enjoy! The gang takes a look at the murder of noted dermatologist Dr David Birkett by the notable idiot Reg Wilson, an attempt to commit the perfect murder with the aid of Japanese erotica, stencils and crashing a motorbike into a wall like Jay did on The Inbetweeners that time, but still managing to leave fingerprints at the scene. Reg did manage to build a ladder in a maximum security prison though, so that's something.John is quite mean to Lewis Capaldi and names a section of his lawn after an unnamed actor. In 2018, he rode the pilgrimage route to Santiago de Compostela and he wrote about the very personal reason for making the trip in his book Utterly Brilliant, which is part travelogue, part memoir. Teddy is in charge of proceedings this week as he welcomes you, every man on the planet and his dog, to episode 22 of Don't Touch The Bugles. It's a three man podcast this week and the guys kick things off with a round up of their respective, and eventful weeks which include stories of a distinct lack of attendees to a prestigious sporting event, a Bugle who lost their shit and had a fight and another Bugle who had a fight to try and lose his shit......it'll make sense when you listen to it. It's then onto this week's topic of choice - Near Death Experiences! The Bugles share their own close brush with the grim reaper which include stories involving a swimming pool elevator, a trip to the hospital, a lucky lay-by, 9 lives tattoos and making front page news for being creating a city gridlock. The Bugles, guided by Teddy, then move onto Weird Shit of The Week, your regular update of crazy happenings around the globe. This week, stories are told involving football kits gone wrong and one that looks like a Burger King staff uniform, incorrectly being pronounced dead, a criminal toilet blocker and a name change with a body part/animal hybrid. Dear oh dear.... Teddy than has a surprise up his sleeve (metophically speaking of course, he had a t-shirt on because we finally have sun!) and introduces two games to the guys. First up, he plays the role of Matthew Kelly as they play 'Stars in their Eyes'.....or should that be 'Stars in their Mouths'?. He then takes inspiration from 80's children's TV presenter, Timmy Mallett and plays a bit of word association but with a difference. Download and enjoy the latest episode of wackiness from your favourite group of lovers for coned shaped snacks!
Matt aka the Artist Formerly Known As TimeLord is back with us, and this visit he wants to talk about one of the most important UK TV shows of the Eighties, if you're a Transformers fan, anyways. It's the show that introduced many of us to the G1 cartoon, the Timmy Mallett fronted show from our school holidays - WACaday! Because we're nice, we also decided to throw in some TV-am and Roland Rat stuff in there too, including that time that the UK press tried to expose something a little bit kinky about Roland himself. Richard the Lionheart has been portrayed on screen by Sean Connery, Anthony Hopkins and Patrick Stewart, quite a starry list. But what is the reality behind the legend of this famous king? Richard's nominator is Timmy Mallett, a legend of children's TV but also unexpectedly a history graduate. Great historical characters, he says, have great stories attached to them, and Richard's life was not short of adventure, particularly on the Third Crusade. Applying a cool head to Richard's life is the historian and broadcaster Helen Castor. She concedes that much of Timmy's enthusiasm is probably deserved. Presenter Matthew Parris attempts to discover the truth about whether the Lionheart was in fact gay. The producer in Bristol is Miles Warde.
Timmy Mallett deserves a punch and Michaela Strachan deserves better - it's WACADAY, the Wide Awake Club spin off that's just as awkward and uncomfortable to watch as it ever was. At least Mark and Martyn get to watch some old adverts along the way... Do you have questions, comments or recommendations for future episodes? Remember at the start of the Blair Witch project where they "find the footage"? Well this is nothing like that.However...episode 8 of the ramshackle comedy podcast that is Casa Mirth has indeed been gathering dust for several months. There might be some clues as to why in the show, and all will be properly explained in episode 9 that should be available much sooner! In this episode:Dr Norman and River take us all on a "Magical Mystery History Tour" where one variable in a historic situation is changed and the outcome is discussed. We find out why River hates Timmy Mallett, and hear his rant about charity "reliefs". We catch up with our show regulars on the Channel Mirth Newsteam who have a new co-presenter, the boys reminisce over discarded jazz mags and lactating porn and surprisingly there's also some fully bona fide words of wisdom.
It's Rum Doings Episode 120! They didn't say it couldn't be done, because they didn't care. To celebrate this monumental milestone, we don't shut up for ages. In a bumper-length episode we talk our usual rubbish for 85 non-stop minutes. Swigging on Japanese rum, with accompanying lame racism, we turn to the esteemed journal, The Practising Midwife. Here we learn how witchcraft is used by midwifes to save babies. We figure out the mistake all previous prime ministers have made when firing their shamed ministers, and then naturally move on to comics. That takes us to why we didn't enjoy Lord Of The Rings, and eventually the feminism of Arnie and Stallone. Which then means we insist you watch The Villain. At the start of the second half we ponder Timmy Mallett, and find ourselves discussing Saturday morning television. Including John's appearance thereon. Then some magic. And then some reminiscing about when we didn't hate DVDs.
