 Latino America is a show about the sounds of that part of America which has been the musical inspiration for Mestizo Sounds. The music, rhythms and poetic lyrics of the Latin American people are extraordinary. You will hear music from the old to the very new. Music by Latin American legends from the sixties to the eighties with Chavela Vargas, Edu Lobo, Victor Jara, Hector Lavoe, Toto La Momposina and Ruben Blades. The nineties are represented with the music of the so much missed music sensation Chico Science who died at the peak of his career in a traffic accident in 1997. Here with his band Nação Zumbi interpreting a great song from Brazilian legend Gilberto Gil, “Maracatu Atomico”. Other nineties artists are the pioneer Argentian Mestizo band Los Fabulosos Cadillacs, the eclectic Cafe Tacuba or the unconventionals Colombians of Aterciopelados. Finally, the new Millenium sounds with the Venezuelan band Los Amigos Invisibles, the Brazilian Carlinhos Brown and part of the great trio Tribalistas, or the tremenda rumba by the Cuban band leader and veteran musician Orlando Valle with his band Maraca. The lyrical aspect of the Latin American new wave is shown in this Latin American selection with the inspiring song “Mil Cosas” by Uruguayan songwriter Martin Buscaglia. The newest sounds of Latin America are included here with the input of three outstanding bands. The Argentinian band Sindicato Argentino del Hip Hop, the Puerto Rican Hip hop and alternative Reggaeton band Calle 13 with the emotional song Latino America inspired the whole show. An authentic Pan Latin-American song that includes the collaboration of Peruvian diva singer Susana Baca and the Colombian superstar Toto la Momposina. Last but not least of the 3 new bands is the Colombian electronic music duo Bomba Estereo. Here with a recently released new song “Me Duele” in collaboration with Manu Chao, the most Latin American of all the current European music makers. Manu is French but his heart belongs to Latin America where he has always found inspiration and guide light in his music career. The music in the show covers many styles and genres. You will hear Colombian Cumbia, Nuyorican salsa, Psychedelic Peruvian Chicha, Cuban Rhumba, Latin Hip Hop, and New Chilean Song by the political and conscious music activist Victor Jara who was tragically executed in one of the most horrific crimes of the Pinochet 1973's coup d'etat. Also, more modern styles of electronic Cumbia, Latin Funk, Hip Hop and a modern take on the Latin American Canción (songwriter Song) The extension of Latin America culture is bigger than its geography. It doesn't only go from Tierra del Fuego to the border of Rio Grande but is also extending to the US and around the world with their Latino communities. The last track “Mi Gente” is a sincere homage to the Latin American people from the core of the Big Apple, New York, by the greatest Salsa and Puerto Rican singer Hector Lavoe. En esta edición revisamos la carrera de una cantante, compositora, maestra y bailarina que interpreta música folclórica de la costa caribeña de Colombia: Totó La momposina quien lleva el título de ser considerada la Reina de la Cumbia.

Radio Nova revisite ses propres classiques : les raretés de tous bords qui rythment notre antenne, de la soul-funk au hip-hop en passant par les musiques afro-latines et la pop. Aujourd'hui : « La Verdolaga » de P18.Ce Nova Classic nous replonge au cœur de l’été 1999 avec ce chant colombien revisité des anciens de la Mano Negra : c’est « La Verdolaga » par P18.Si Manu Chao a tracé sa route en solo et connaît un succès mondial avec son disque Clandestino en 1998, d’autres membres de la Mano flirte aussi avec le continent Sud américain. C’est le cas de Thomas Darnal, ex-clavier de la Mano qui, lors d'une escale de la tournée Cargo 92 du groupe à Cuba, pose les bases avec le trompettiste Barbaro Teuntor, de ce qui deviendra P18. Comme Paris 18 où se trouve la cave où le groupe répète.Tom embarque dans l’aventure des musiciens cubains et deux anciens de la Mano : le guitariste Daniel Jamet et Napo Romero. Deux albums nourris de voyages à Cuba et à Chiapas au Mexique sortent coup sur coup. Le titre d'aujourd'hui, sortira sur Urban Cuban et pour le coup, n’est ni mexicain ni cubain puisqu’il s’agit d’une reprise d’un célèbre morceau colombien chanté par Toto La Momposina, grande ambassadrice de la musique traditionnelle colombienne depuis les années 80.Une ode au pourpier, plante médicinale et comestible que l’on appelle en espagnol La Verdolaga. Un chant d’observation du vivant mais aussi d'encouragement puisque le son des tambours fait pousser la plante. Un chant qui a une résonance toute particulière dans cette période disons, propice à la prise de conscience du vivant qui nous entoure. "Rosa que linda eres", quizá usted con esa frase recuerde una de las canciones más emblemáticas del folclore colombiano, grabada en distintas versiones como la de Joe Arroyo, Toto La Momposina e Irene Martínez, quien supuestamente la compuso, pero esta canción cuenta con una versión que que se hizo aún más popular en el país por la interpretación de Carlos Vives en el álbum La Tierra del Olvido.En el 2017 apareció El Orisha de la Rosa, el primer álbum solista de Magín Díaz, quien a sus 95 años tenía más vitalidad que nunca para dejar inmortalizada parte de su obra musical, en un larga duración que llevó a Magín a convertirse como el artista más viejo nominado a los premios de la academia y a ganar varios Grammy.Podríamos decir que el mentor, de que el sueño de Magín se materializara es un filósofo bogotano.
