Whigfield - a Danish singer, songwriter and producer - joins us from Italy on this episode of Celeb Savant. Whigfield explains why she chose her stage name, the story behind how she became a Guinness Book record holder as the first artist to go straight to number 1 on the UK singles chart with a debut single, and why she says 'listening to music on Spotify is like having sex without the orgasm'. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

It's our annual look at the contenders for the song of the summer. There's no formula for writing a song of the summer, the same way that you can't guarantee a Christmas classic, but there are some ground rules that seem to apply for most of the songs in contention every year.As noted by Mark Savage's The secrets of a hit summer song piece, some key things a song has to be simple (like Whigfield's 'Saturday Night'), It should make you feel like you're on holiday ('Pon De Replay' / 'Club Tropicana'), novelty is good, whether that means meme-friendly, silly ('Macarena') or a novel mix of styles (like Old Town Road's mix of country and rap) but most importantly it should be released before the summer, ideally mid April - early May latest. We added a few more rules of our own - including mentions of food and drink are good, controversy can be helpful, titillation can work, melancholy, anticipation and the song's unquantifiable repeatable vibe that doesn't grate over months of listening via rooftops, out of cars, festivals, clubs and pubs. A catchy lyric is essential - are you ready to match our freak? But really the song of the summer is a nebulous accolade, and ultimately decided by too many factors to identity. This year's main contenders include Kabin Crew's 'The Spark', Sabrina Carpenter's 'Espresso', Tommy Richman's 'Million Dollar Baby', Chappell Roan's 'Good Luck Babe', Charli XCX's '360', Kendrick's 'Not Like Us' and songs from Tik-Tok memes, Billie Eilish, Jamie xx, Tinashe, Hozier, Shaboozey and more.We take them at their word and consider each for the ultimate summer medal - the song of the summer 2024. Vi nyder bl.a. 90'er-klassikere fra Whigfield, Take That, Enigma, Blur, Corona, Doop, Shampoo, Haddaway, The Prodigy, East 17, Ace Of Base, D:Ream og M People.
Culture Beat, 2 Brothers On The 4th Floor, Technotronic, M.C. Sar & The Real McCoy, Snap!, Basic Element, Whigfield, La Bouche og mange andre. Playliste: Giorgio Moroder – From here to eternity ABBA – Summer Night City Loleatta Holloway – Love sensation Black Box – Ride on time Technotronic – Pump up the jam Snap! – The power Jam & Spoon feat. Plavka – Right in the night (Fall in love with music) Culture Beat – Mr. Vain M.C. Sar & The Real McCoy – Run away 2 Unlimited – No limit Double You – Please don't go Basic Element – The fiddle La Bouche – Be my lover Twenty 4 Seven – Slave to the music Corona – Try me out Whigfield – Saturday night Toy-Box – Tarzan & Jane Infernal – Sorti de L'Enfer Aqua – Roses are red Tiggy – Ring-a-ling Daze – Tamagotchi (Together forever) Hit'n'Hide – Space Invaders Sound Of Seduction – Feel like dancing Ice MC – It's a rainy day (Christmas Mix) 2 Brothers On The 4th Floor – Never alone

Los temas que sonaron fueron: Tone Loc meets ZZ Bros “Funky Cold Medina”, La festa Sound, Blue 4U “The Furby song”, Donna Summer “I Will go with you (Con te partiró)”, AC One “Sing a Song now now”, Milk inc. “Oceans”, Alice Dee jay “Back in my life”, Whigfield “Doo Whop”, Vengaboys “You and Me”, Hermes House Band “I Will Survive”, Dj Jean “The Launch”, Quicksilver “Free”, Todo éxitos de Toni Peret y JM Castells, Los Key Cee “Millenium Stringz”, Technics “The original sessions vol.3” y en el puesto nº 2 de nuestra lista, Balearic Bill con “Destination Sunshine”. AC One “Sing a Song now now”, Whigfield “Doo Whop”, Todo éxitos “Los 50 nº1”, Blue 4U “The Furby song”, como novedad… Dj Tom Stevens “Outface 2000”, Tone Loc meets ZZ Bros “Funky Cold Medina”, Southside Spinners “Luvstruck”, Paps ´n´Skar “You want my love”, Donna Summer “I Will go with you (Con te partiró)”, Ann lee “Voices”, Alice Dee jay “Back in my life”, Dhany “Quiero respirar”, Technics “The original sessions vol.3”, Milk inc. “Promise” y “Oceans”, The Messiah´s “Great Trip”, La Festa Sound, Gigi D´Agostino “Another way”, Chasis “10 Años”, Dj Bobo “together” Y esto es todo por hoy, esperamos que lo disfrutes igual o más que nosotros (aunque eso es complicado). Playliste: Whigfield - Saturday night Scooter - Hyper hyper DJ Bobo - Love is all around All-4-One - I swear Joshua Kadison - Jessie Pet Shop Boys - One in a million/Mr. Vain Sting - When we dance
In this episode, I was stunned at the unknown journey that Whigfield has been on. We discuss losing her mother to suicide, mindfulness, being naughty, how depressed she was at her peak and her recent diagnosis of bipolar disorder. Andy and Alex explore what has been called the most missing of Hartnells, The Savages, and find plenty to talk about. Why does Steven perpetually gaslight Dodo and why do Who fans not talk about it? What exactly are the Elders actually extracting from their victims and what is left behind? And, most importantly of all, who would have been a far better candidate to lead the troubled people of this planet? Andy was lucky enough to watch Josh Snares brilliant telesnap restored Episode 1 and the Loose Cannon animations while Alex experiences the fever dream that is a cartoon version of episode 4 in which everyone looks like Ian Chesterton, Dodo has been, er, enhanced, and Steven appears to have taken up ballet. Elsewhere, the Time-Space Visualiser has had an upgrade courtesy of Spotify and can only now play extracts from classic Doctor Who episodes, while this month's quiz answers all begin with the letter Z. Thanks to the wonderfully named Nanina we also have several guest appearances from 90s pop starlet Whigfield. Nanina also inspires us to discuss when Kerry Bishop got killed at a duck shoot in Neighbours and from there we also get to Joe Mangel's time on Dancing On Ice. This month's cover image was lovingly restored and colourised by Clayton Hickman and is reproduced here with his permission. Thanks for listening lovely people. Next Time: The Leisure Hive

In the second and final part of our Marbles postbag, we discuss bands who have just one great album (and ask if Marillion could be one of them), talk about the forthcoming Marillion Weekend 2019 DVDs and CDs (and the stolen tapes), and of course tackle the thorny issues of Whigfield, and whether the hypnotist Paul McKenna is still alive or not...John Strum's blog post: https://biographyinmusic.wordpress.com/2021/03/19/marillion-marbles/Support us here for early access and exclusive eps: https://www.patreon.com/mrbiffoBuy a BYAMPOD t-shirt or mug: https://www.redbubble.com/people/Digitiser/shopBuy Paul's new album: https://mrbiffo.bandcamp.comFollow BYAMPOD on Twitter and Facebook!Email us here: byampod@gmail.com See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

Sar & The Real McCoy, men også elektroniske pionerer som The Grid, Baby D og The Prodigy kigger forbi.
Dee dee na na na - It's time to go behind the scenes with Whigfield and find out the story behind her iconic "Saturday Night" smash and all her other hits. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Spoiler alert!! 1994 had some absolute belters! Although, as usual, we don't always agree on which ones. Among the usual carnage, arguments and insults we also cover: Just how good were PJ and Duncan? Was The X-Files the greatest TV show of all time? Does Emma's special list continue to grow? We both love Friends, yet proceed to pull it to pieces. What nationality was Whigfield? There's another disagreement over the best film of 1994. Why is Kylie like a dog? Emma pulls some epic impressions out of the hat! Want more Decapod goodness? Dee dee na na na! Get ready to sing into your hairdryers and put your dancing shoes on as Sannie Carlson - better known as Whigfield - joins Genevieve to reminisce about her rise to fame with her '90s smash hit. She also talks about being in the Guinness Book of Records, performing to a BILLION people, why she released her last single anonymously (and then revealed herself after it hit #1) and food porn... Sannie will be performing at Mighty Hoopla in London on 4 September, as well as in Canada later in the month on the '90s Nostalgia tour and at the Biggest 90s Disco in Dublin in October. You can also follow Sannie on Instagram @whigfield or on Twitter and Facebook @realwhigfield. ===== If you enjoyed this episode, don't keep it to yourself! "XXL feat. P. Steiner" mit ihrer Dance-Nummer "It's cool, Man".

#323 Mothersacker - Like the bravest person who has ever lived Richard is still churning out podcasts, even though he’s just 5 days out of chemotherapy. But what super powers has it given him? He starts a little weary, but the power of podcasts soon rallies him, thanks to his open and hilarious guest, 1990s Gamesmaster legend Dominik Diamond. They discuss the talented group of comedians that emerged from Bristol University in the 1990s, being conned into buying a llama farm in Canada with no llamas in it, how auditioning for the Word led to the Gamesmaster gig, Lee and Herring’s legendary appearance on the show and what really happened to Richard’s Golden Joystick and how much it might have been worth if he’d kept it, fighting with Mark Lamaar across two continents, marrying Whigfield, how too much cocaine damaged Diamond’s career and how too little cocaine damaged Herring’s, living next door to a Play Away presenter, plus some jolly limericks about cancer.
Retour dans les années 90 avec du The Darkness, Vengaboys, Klubbheadz, 2 Brothers On The 4th Floor, Masterboy, Culture Beat, Whigfield et plusieurs autres!
