Vanessa Angerer has one of the most insane stories I have heard! And is training me for my 100 days to 100kms challenge. She grew up on the Gold Coast with a very unique family life. After 6 months of work, she went overseas for a 3 months trip where she tore her ACL. This led Vanessa into a dark place but she turned her victim mindset around and found the drive to come back stronger. This is where she got heavily into running once she was fully healed.Vanessa ran multiple marathons, and ultra-marathons in 2022, and in 2023 she completed a 100-mile race, 164kms! Your 48-Hour Challenge - Hey everybody this is Carl Gould with your #70secondCEO. I have a 48-hour challenge for you. My 48-hour challenge for you is to get off the grid. Ok, I'm here in Moab, Utah, well off the grid, no sign of any cell service here, I've got my phone but it's not connected to anything. Get off the grid for 48-hours: Take a journal, a pen, take your phone, your one note, however you capture your journal notes. Start to think about where were you in the last 5 years... Where you are now and... What is the next 5 years going to look like for you What are the major accomplishments... What are the major issues... What was the theme of each year for the last 5 years What's your theme this year? What's your theme for each of the next 5 years Plan out your next 5 years as if they're on purpose, ok? My challenge, 48-hours off the grid and post a comment below: What the major take-away was from you being off the grid Thinking about what the next 5 years of your life is going to be like So, this is Carl Gould and this has been your #70secondCEO.

Chris was a world famous DJ in the 90s. He later became a successful stage hypnotist. Then he became an entrepreneur. He founded a technology company that generates enough passive revenue for him that he no longer needs to work if he doesn't want to. In today's coaching session, I give Chris 24 hours to undertake a challenge that scares the hell out of him! He completed the challenge and I come back at the end of the podcast to update you on what happened. Enjoy!! Love. Rich PS. For most of human history, it wasn't called coaching. Kia ora e te whānau. This year, Matt was back at it at the Blue Lake for (what was supposed to be) 24 hours of challenge and excitement in the best worst kept secret on the Aotearoa trail running calendar. Toe'ing the line in the 100km distance, and amongst 700 other hardy souls across multiple levels of challenge from “Casual” to “The Claw” this event has it's emphasis firmly set on self reliance, and this year the self reliance was put to the test when the stormiest year in the race's history got a vote in and turned the course into a quagmire and the participants into golems lurching through the technical single track around the lake shore and slip/sliding down the hill on the way home. Unless you've been living under a rock you'll know that the organisers (who take their safety briefing of “don't die!” seriously) made the difficult decision to call the race after 15 hours. That didn't diminish the drama or suffering or triumph one bit. Eugene joins Matt as he breaks down the weekend, plus brings us conversations with Gareth Morris, race organisers Chris Townley, Kurt Matthews, and 100km finisher Meg Collins puts her Beast foot forward. As homeschool moms we can often get into a "get it done and check the boxes" mode. We have so many responsibilities and pulls on our time, and it's way to easy to give up on beauty in our homeschools. Prioritizing all those extra beautiful things just feels too overwhelming. But is it important and valuable to prioritize these elements of beauty in our homeschool? Might, in fact, those elements of beauty (like nature study and fine arts) actually be one of the most important relational elements in our home education? Today's guests answer with a resounding YES! Tricia Hodges is a returning guest to the podcast, and she is joined today by her friend (and colleague at Nature Study Homeschool) Shirley Vels. Both veteran mamas with homeschool graduates, Shirley and Tricia have an important long-term perspective to share with us today. Plus, I learn that The Handbook of Nature Study isn't as intimidating as I thought it was: https://naturestudyhomeschool.com/the-handbook-of-nature-study-book/ref/7/(aff link) Thank you to podcast sponsor Mr. D Math.
