This week, we sit down with glass-ceiling smasher, corporate and nonprofit leader, Atlanta booster, storyteller, mentor, mother and grandmother, community organizer, and woman of the hour Hala Moddelmog. Hala is a fellow Atlantian, spending nearly her entire career in this southeastern metropolis. Shout out for the home team! Hala is currently the President and CEO of the Woodruff Arts Center in downtown Atlanta. She has spent nearly 30 years in President and CEO roles from Metro Atlanta Chamber to Arby's Restaurant Group to Susan G. Komen - and more. Needless to say, ain't no mountain high enough! In our 30-minute conversation, Hala shares her story of “having it all,” her unwavering commitment to the Atlanta community, her experience with storytelling and art as mechanisms for learning and change, and her incredible take on how to invest in others “doing the work.” Hala was among the first to join the I AM 111 to support the “making of” the I AM Series. In this episode, we ask Hala why she joined, and she surprised us with the most authentic and powerful answer!“I saw two women putting everything on the line to do something important, and I thought sign me up! Let me be a little bit a part of this.” We won't give it all away, but the TL;DR is: If you can show up for others in the “arena,” do.Hala describes her experience being part of a generation that had to break proverbial glass ceilings, and how she and her fellow “glass shatterers” won't stop because it's just not fixed yet! And finally, the pièce de résistance, and our real takeaway from this conversation… The art of shattering that glass isn't just in its breaking, it's in turning around and offering a helping hand to those that follow with hammers. Mic drop.

In this episode, we are joined by a leader in technology and innovation and the Founder of Prismm, Martha Underwood. Martha has also signed on as talent for I AM Series to share her expertise, particularly regarding the connection between money and power.  Martha's story unfolds over 32 minutes of soulful, cup-filling conversation and inspiration.  We discuss building relationships and "collecting people" who, in turn, become part of our communities and success. Martha shares her mother's mantra to "be of service" and help one another - a mantra that defines how she moves through the world.  We also discuss why she founded Prismm, a tech platform that enables the effortless transfer of generational wealth. Women in particular need this tool because most commonly they are responsible for managing caregiving, end-of-life planning or response, family money or wealth, and record keeping; often at the most transitional moments in their own lives and health. Finally, we talk money mindset. Martha has been an inspiration and advisor in this space as often we channel her bold energy when it comes to making financial decisions or asks, and acknowledging the relationship between wealth and power. *Hmmmm, this feels I AM Docuseries worthy* Granted, she admits that she was not always as bold. It's something she too had to "rewrite." She notes, "When we accept and own that power, women change society for the better." We are unstoppable, "we are to the moon!" she says, as we wrap our time together.  Hell yes, we are! PrismmPrismm is a digital vault for all life's most important documents and accounts. The platform makes end-of-life planning simple and is the most accountable tool to, safely and securely, manage everything from bank accounts to health records. It's peace of mind. And no surprise here, but women are utilizing Prismm for all the platform has to offer! More than just an end-of-life planning system, it is a one-stop shop management tool for families. Think of stashing everything from grade cards to vaccination records in one secure location. *Ancient file cabinets in the basement and external hard drives be damned! We said, "The intersection of pleasure and power..." and she said, "Jean." After our first call, she enthusiastically signed on to the I AM Docuseries. In this conversation, Jean leads us through her personal story and lived experience as she always does - with vulnerability and humor. And what's a good story without a little drama?! Theater drama that is. Glass Ceilings? Yep, got it. Sticky Floors? Now, that's something new. Say more.Meet Erica Rooney - keynote speaker, author, executive coach, work and culture expert, mother, executive, podcaster, and overall relatable FIA woman. Erica's work brings her face-to-face with the proverbial glass ceiling daily, yet it was her own lived and learned experiences that helped her understand that no matter how much you push against it, if you're being held down by your own sticky floors, you're going to stay exactly where you've always been. Why do we love this conversation and ah-ha so much? Because it's not just about doing the work on ourselves, but recognizing, naming, and understanding the systemic shortcomings of our work, family, and community systems - deeply rooted in gender bias and intersectional “isms.” (race, age, sex, etc.)The parallels of Erica's work in the professional sphere are mirrored in her own home life, where Erica and Kacie talk about the complexities and nuances that come with raising different gendered children side-by-side; and how our biases start the moment we come out of the womb. Motherhood and raising children was a catalyst for both women to reflect on their perpetuation of hustle culture, and ask the question - what do we want our kids' world to look like? Sobering and motivating - for parents, and those of us who are child-free, too. This is much more a conversation and reflection on just how deeply ingrained these biases are, even amongst the most ‘well-intentioned.'This episode is a series of one thought-provoking nugget after the other. Small mic drops, and big ah-has that are best digested slowly. We recommend pausing as you go along, reflecting on your own opinions, feelings, thoughts; and most importantly, how you will take these revelations to not only dream - but plot - against what you'll bring to life in the new year. Enjoy.Resources from this episode: Get It All In Your InboxThe It All Media Newsletter Connect with EricaLinkedInWebsiteFrom Now to Next Podcast with Erica Rooney (wherever you get your pods)Erica's Reading ListInvisible Women: Data Bias in a World Designed for Men by Caroline Criado PerezWe Should All Be Millionaires by Rachel RodgersBurnout: The Secret to Unlocking the Stress Cycle by Emily Nagoski  and Amelia Nagoski Podcast production for th

Settle in and get ready to enjoy an intimate 1:1 with master storyteller and Queen of Audio herself - Michelle Khouri. Michelle's work - from entrepreneur and trailblazer to fellow modern woman living in this moment in time - is to change the world through the power of sound. We recently heard, “When we change what power sounds like, we change who has it.” (Samara Bay, Permission to Speak) No one understands that better than Michelle, and it's why she became one of our very first calls when we started the FIA Podcast 3 years ago.Audio was our chosen medium at the time, because since the beginning of time, what women have to say is qualified by how we look and show up. Removing the physical barrier of having to show up ‘perfect,' and instead letting our voices tell our stories felt revolutionary, and like an act of defiance and activism in itself. Thanks, Michelle, for the inspiration and believing eyes from day one. Michelle's mantra, "Be as big as you are," is her rallying cry for women everywhere - a reminder that we're never told to embrace our full potential, to be unapologetically big in our ambitions and dreams; not to mention the physical space we occupy.Michelle's journey has been marked by a quest to balance both the masculine and feminine energies within herself. This pursuit hasn't always been easy, and it has angered - like viscerally, screaming, crying, throwing up angered -  those discomforted by her boldness. And through it all, she stands firm in her belief that there's no judgment in seeking harmony within yourself. You can begin to see why we love her so damn much.Michelle advocates for taking small steps to enact profound change. This is especially true as we delve into the overwhelming societal pressure to want it all, particularly as it relates to marriage, children, and suburban living. It was her own ah-ha that she was exhausting herself with trying to be small, that she chose a different path. She started listening to her own energies and honoring her intuition, even if it meant making unconventional choices. YAAAAS.In this week's episode, Michelle shares that she learned the importance of tending to wounds, addressing trauma, and truly understanding who she is and what she wants. #EveryoneShouldGoToTherapy. Many of the FIA moments we've shared on this podcast include starting over. Like, all the way over. When FIA really means FIA, that usually means leaving absolutely everything you knew behind in favor of something much better. And we're usually PUSHED into those moments. We are quite literally at our limits! But what if you weren't at your limit? What if you didn't wait for a cataclysmic moment to kickstart your FIA moment? What if you gave yourself permission to start over just because you could? I know you've thought about it... Starting over just because you can is a lesson that Lupin Campos has been learning since she was a young woman. This inspiring woman is a designer, co-founder, entrepreneur, Director of Product Management, and much more. She has been all over the world, changed careers in favor of something far more interesting, and has stayed true to herself even when it was the hardest thing in the world to do. In this episode, I actually told her it's amazing how well she knows herself and she said it's more like a gut feeling than really knowing herself. Lupin is just someone who is willing to take action and a master at following her heart. I hope this interview inspires you as much as it inspired me

Our guest this week is none other than the amazing Twana Harris. Twanna's work is known all over the city of Atlanta as well as all over the country. She is the founder of Tribal Good, a fellow Solopreneur, and an incredible friend. Her work focuses on connecting corporations with multi-hyphenate creatives. Which is basically the intersection of everything we know and love! As soon as Twanna agreed to come on the pod, I immediately knew what I would be naming this episode: “But why???” The phrase, “but why?” can get us in a lot of trouble (like A LOT of trouble). Asking ourselves why we do the things we do throws a monkey wrench into our usual path of complacency. We begin asking ourselves why we tolerate the intolerable. And what if we just didn't tolerate it? What if we started searching for something better? The phrase “but why?” can be a catalyst for FIA moments. It disrupts everything we know and starts a kick-ass revolution in ourselves. It's a phrase that demands change, and we are the only ones who can make that change for ourselves. In this episode, Twanna and I discuss how to disrupt existing models, find solutions, and keep the movement going. Twanna is a firm believer in the idea that we have so many FIA moments in our lives we might as well call it an FIA movement. And I have to agree with her

The past two decades were spent building a family and a career; and now in her forties, she is on her own for the first time, honoring the duality of waking up in her bed alone - honoring the thrill and fear of knowing, “that your whole life is out there.”She compares the past few years as a dark night of the soul, and in only a way that this brilliant, soulful woman can, puts words and perspective to what is arguably one of the most complex decisions we can face - the decision to evolve our family and end our marriage.Kelli's magic is in her ability to process her own experiences, and also walk through women at all stages of life through her work with Balance Tribe (women's circles & retreats), and her nonprofit Root to Rise for young women 18-25. Both of which are on our short list of fave organizations out there.Alright, go hit play to hear about the power of an expectant spirit, and what's next for this FIA women redefining ‘it all' real-time.X,K+K
