I sat down with Marc Gaskins (https://x.com/OvenPusher) of Event Kitchens to discuss his $337k/year event rental business in Charleston, South Carolina. Marc noticed caterers needed quality equipment and turned that opportunity into a thriving business. We explored how a bar fire led to community support, becoming a turning point. We also discussed the value of patient growth versus rapid scaling. Marc explained the unit economics of renting convection ovens, the benefits of a niche focus on caterers, and his warehouse hacking real estate strategy. He also shared why he's relied on organic growth and his future interests. This episode offers actionable insights for starting an event rental business.Timestamps below. Recently I lost access to an 13-year-old Instagram account that had been developed over that many years, and while this loss was definitely unexpected and unwanted, it did also make me confront a harsh reality. When we are forced to start fresh and reassess what we have been doing all along it is uncomfortable and pretty difficult. On this episode I share more about this experience and the takeaways I am choosing to take from the experience.

Facing the challenges of divorce can feel overwhelming, especially for men. In this episode of the True Love Knots Podcast, "divorce detoxer" Paul Murphy joins Maria and shares his journey through divorce, career changes, and personal growth. Paul discusses how divorce impacts work, relationships, and emotional readiness for dating, while offering strategies for healthy co-parenting and managing in-law dynamics. Drawing from his "Divorce Detox" program, Paul provides practical tools to help men move forward with strength and purpose. If you're ready to turn the end of a marriage into a new beginning, tune in for honest advice and actionable steps to reclaim your confidence and rebuild your life.   Standout Quotes: “Divorce isn't a final thing. Once you sign the paperwork, it's just part of the stage. For anyone who's divorced, you're divorced for life. It's not like you come and go—it's a new chapter, and you move forward.” “You need to be aware of the emotional perspective and clearly understand what you're actually looking for. If you're just dating to date or to 'be a player,' that's different from looking for a relationship.” “Divorce influenced my mindset and how I was able to process things. At times, it clouded me. I'll be very candid: the emotional stress of the divorce impacted me at work.” “I allow my kids to be very open and have open conversations. My ex and I are both in healthcare and are very open with each other. We want to promote an environment where our kids know it's okay to ask us anything.” "The world isn't going to stop; it's going to keep moving. Just be prepared. You're divorced for life, and that's been my biggest eye-opener." Key Takeaways: Prioritize your emotional well-being during and after divorce. Seek support, whether through a therapist, support group, or programs, to navigate the complex feelings and mindset shifts. Approach dating with intention and self-awareness. Reflect on what you're truly seeking in a new relationship, and don't be afraid to be selective and set boundaries. Maintain open communication with your children and ex-partner. Create an environment where difficult conversations can happen, and your kids feel empowered to ask questions. Recognize that the world doesn't stop after divorce. While it may feel like your life has been upended, remember that life continues, and you have the power to shape your new normal. Surround yourself with a network of supportive mentors and friends who can provide guidance and perspective as you navigate this transition. Leverage their experiences to inform your own journey.   Episode Timeline: [00:02] Introducing Paul Murphy [02:30] Paul's Journey from Paramedic to Divorce Coach [04:13] Inside the Divorce Detox Program for Men [05:34] Coping with Divorce's Effects on Career and Family [06:04] Tips for Dating After Divorce and Starting Fresh [08:37] How Divorce Detox Is Helping Men Rebuild Lives [15:44] The Power of Mentors During Tough Transitions [16:38] Managing Family Dynamics After Divorce Events [21:11] Closing Thoughts   Learn more about Paul Murphy on his socials: Personal Website: https://paulmurphyconsulting.com/ Divorce Detoxx Website: https://www.divorcedetoxx.com/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/weekendwarriorbeme/   Learn more about Maria Romano and True Love Knots at: Website: https://trueloveknots.com Email: maria@trueloveknots.com Phone: +1 702-501-4150
