Most brands are running marketing strategies built for a world that no longer exists. We all want to create a movement, capture demand at scale, and dominate a market. But how do we do that today? For most marketers, Account-Based Marketing (ABM) is the gold standard: highly targeted, sales-aligned, and built to close high-value accounts. Then you have Market-Based Marketing (MBM), which expands the lens to broader demand capture, category creation, and positioning at scale. But the REAL power shift to consider? Let me introduce you to Community-Based Marketing (CBM). CBM isn't just about audience segmentation; it's about integration. ABM is transactional at its core. It's focused on getting the deal, not necessarily building a lasting relationship. And in a world where trust is the currency, ABM alone isn't enough. MBM is noisy. It requires a massive investment in awareness, content, and brand positioning. And in today's world of oversaturated content, it's harder than ever to cut through. CBM is about embedding your brand into the daily lives of the people who actually matter. With ABM, you're pitching from the outside. With MBM, you're broadcasting to the masses. But with CBM, you're technically already in the room.Instead of hoping they see your ad, you're in their inbox. Instead of forcing them to book a demo, they're asking you for a call. Instead of convincing them to trust you, they're defending your brand against competitors. Doesn't that sound amazing? Well trust me it is possible by recalibrating Account-Based Marketing and Market-Based Marketing with Community-Based Marketing that aligns with Value-Based Marketing, turning your community into your growth engine: generating organic conversations, referrals, and loyalty that no ad spend can replicate.Beyond The Episode Gems:• Subscribe To My New Weekly LinkedIn Newsletter: Strategize. Join me, Kelly Brothers, as I chat with Cecily Hastings of "Inside Publications" and "Inside Sacramento" and explore her inspiring journey from Ann Arbor, Michigan, to becoming a prominent publisher in Sacramento. Cecily recounts her upbringing in a vibrant neighborhood and her multidisciplinary design education from the University of Michigan. Moving from a career in commercial interior design and office furniture sales in the San Francisco Bay Area to Sacramento, she shares the challenges of making new friends before social media and her deep involvement in local community and city government, including founding a neighborhood association to address issues at McKinley Park. Listen as Cecily discusses her transition from a design-focused professional to a community newspaper publisher in East Sacramento. Being a landlord in Ontario comes with its own unique set of challenges. From slow eviction processes to dealing with damages left by tenants, these problems can often result in significant financial losses. Kayla Andrade, my guest for this week's episode, sheds light on these issues. Kayla's journey into understanding landlord-tenant relationships started close to home in her childhood community in Newfoundland. Her early experiences living in government housing offered her a unique insight into the complexities of property management. When the property market in Ontario became volatile, Kayla sought opportunities elsewhere, even if it meant stepping out of her comfort zone. She noticed that different provinces like Newfoundland were less bureaucratically complicated and more landlord-friendly. In 2010, Kayla founded Ontario Landlords Watch, a platform aimed at helping landlords, property managers, realtors, and paralegals navigate the intricate web of regulations that govern property ownership and tenancy. Her organization works as both an educational resource and a lobbying force, pushing for reform in housing legislation for the betterment of the private real estate sector. In this episode, we discuss the following: The complexities inherent in Ontario's landlord landscape and better navigating them. Understanding of the slow eviction process operational in Ontario and the reasons behind its sluggish nature. Bill 97's influence on rent payment strategies and its financial implications. Significance of scrupulous tenant screening and the role of credit history in securing reliable occupants. Essential advocacy programs and supportive measures available to landlords in Ontario. There's a common thread that ties together justice, stigma, secrets, and truth: language. The words we use can liberate and unite as easily as they can mislead and isolate. On this episode of Zero Hour™, we're diving into the ways that language barriers can keep Latinx people from seeking and receiving HIV care. We're also exploring how discriminatory language and false conflations (such as equating HIV with AIDS) continue to fuel fear and stigma. Our guests are: José Romero, a non-binary Latinx activist currently serving as the Director of Community Advocacy, Education & Research at the Pride Foundation. They recount the experiences that ignited their passion for language justice, detail their own difficult journey to being diagnosed with HIV, and tell us about their work providing translation services for other Spanish speakers living with HIV. Oliver Ranft, an Ecuadorian international development strategist and grassroots activist currently working with Charities Aid Foundation in Florida. Dollar stores have taken over. The big brands have more stores in the U.S. than Starbucks, Walmart, and McDonald's combined. And they're especially huge in Louisiana, where there are more than twice as many dollar stores per person compared to the national average. Stephan Bisaha of the Gulf States Newsroom recently brought us four stories on dollar stores, exploring what's behind the growth and why it's worrying some communities. He joins us today for an inside look at his reporting. A recent complaint submitted to the Department of Homeland Security detailed multiple issues of medical neglect at the Central Louisiana ICE Processing Center. The man at the center of the complaint, Daniel Cortest De La Valle, was suffering from seizures when he claimed he had trouble getting his medication, and experienced painful procedures and neglectful treatment while at a hospital. Sofia Casini, the Director of Monitoring and Community Advocacy at Freedom for Immigrants, and Sarah Decker, staff attorney at RFK Human Rights, spearheaded this complaint. They join us for more along with Areley Westley, former detainee and current activist with Home is Here NOLA, an organization that offers resources to people leaving detention in Louisiana. Is compromise good or bad when trying to accomplish a more equitable community for everyone? Welcome back SDG Talkers!! Thanks for joining us for another episode of highlighting change makers and their inspirational work towards the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)! IN THIS EPISODE: - Why is Houston a microcosm for the world? - How have zoning rules created inherent environmental injustices over time? - How to consider all stakeholders involved when making a decision We got to hear from the expert working at the nexus of civic engagement, community development and equity and climate advocacy: Catherine Flowers. Catherine lived in Louisiana for many years, but when Hurricane Katrina hit she moved her family to Houston where she was hired to develop the city's Department of Neighborhoods whose mission is to improve the quality of life in Houston through people-focused programs and strong community partnerships. She has held leadership roles with the City of Houston, Capital One Bank, and the Louisiana Lt. Governor's Office, has chaired the City of Houston's Climate Action Plan Equity Committee, and - as the CEO of Bread of Life - she even expanded their services to meet the diverse needs of the greater Houston market and helped to serve over 100,000 after Hurricane Harvey. Within her current consulting position, Catherine works with elected officials, municipalities, community organizations and national campaigns like the Moms Clean Air Force to deliver social impact. Last but not least, she is the founder of Altruistic Endeavors NGO - a disaster relief organization that responds to life disasters while also operating an apiary and urban farm, co-founded Energy Well Texas - a new kind of electric company, and is the finance chair for Texas' first Green Bank.
