It's your boy King here, and welcome to the final episode of the Plan to Fail Podcast... for Season 1.[Cue Intro]To be perfectly honest with all of you, I never thought I was going to create seasons for this podcast. It honestly wasn't until the last few days the ideas really came up. And I think that through my period of reflection, post-summit, one of the things was I really wanted to change the direction of this podcast. It was something that I've been meaning to do because when I first started this podcast, I was a little less clear on the people I was trying to talk to, or the direction I wanted to take the show. And it honestly wasn't until after the summit, or during the period I was putting together the summit, that's when I started getting clear on the direction I want to take in the message. And really my message nowadays is to help you redefine what success means to you. Help you shift your perspective, right, on all the things that you know of the world in a way that will help you reframe the way you see a lot of things, which in turn will help you tackle problems tackle challenges differently. And I really want to use this platform, right, to help you become the person you need to become in order for you to achieve success. And it all stemmed from as I was going through this journey, I was like, there's so much focus on like the business tips... like the top five SEO hacks, how you can get more followers on Instagram, or like get more leads in your sales funnel. I'm not saying that's- that's bad or anything. I geek out on that stuff, quite honestly. But at the same time, there's so much focus, there's so much content surrounding hacks, hacks, quick ways to make money, quick ways to get follower, but not enough on who you need to become in order for you to achieve success.Let's say you had 100 million followers, right? Okay, that might be a bit extreme. Let's just say you had a million followers, you actually have to be a- like a different person in order for you to live that lifestyle. We like to believe that we can just insert ourselves in the shoes of a billionaire, or the shoes of a celebrity or an influencer and believe we can live that life. But it's actually much further from the truth.Let's just say that you and Tim Cook, right, the CEO of Apple, switch places right now. Would you be able to do what he's doing? Yeah, he might be making a few million dollars a year plus hundreds of million dollars in bonuses and stock options, but he also has an extremely hard job of running a multi-billion dollar company, one of the most valuable companies in the world, along with appeasing and pleasing all the shareholders and all the customers... and making it work. Right? I think that I watched a video of Tim Cook's not morning routine board like what his day looks like, and he literally wakes up at 3am and works till 9pm. Is that the lifestyle you want to live? Right? And I think that we base so much of what we see as "success", or what society sees as "success" as our success. So as a result, we start aiming for things that we didn't really want in the first place. So for Season 2, I really just want to add a little bit more diversity in the content I've been putting out there. I'll still be focusing a lot on personal development, mindset stuff. And it's really because I see entrepreneurship as a journey of self-development, of personal development, and mindset training, because you need to level up yourself each step of the way if you want to achieve the next level of success. But at the same time, I know I haven't had many interviews in this last bit just because I did most of the interviews on the summit. But I will be actually sharing some of the summit interviews I've done on the show because there was just so much great content in there, and I feel like it'd be a waste if I didn't share it. So keep an eye out on that. But I'm going forward. I'm still planning to put out three episodes a week. One episode would really be you know what I've learned that past week, then new insights that I'm able to provide. I'm definitely going to have an interview each and every week. So you're not just learning from me. You're also learning from the many, many experts that are also out there, and the last episode, the third episode of the week, I will be focusing more on giving you tips and tricks and resources that has helped me, so much that way, it gives a little bit more diversity.I really want to give you You mean the tools you need, mindset-wise to work on yourself to become the person that is capable of success. But at the same time, I know that I can't teach you everything. So I want to bring more guests in to teach you different aspects. Some of them might share about their stories, some maybe a little bit more of their expertise. And with that third episode every week, I really want to talk more about the more tangible business tips that you could be taking. Something that is less about like the quick hacks but more about the resources that has helped me create my brand and create my business authentically, right? So keep an eye out for that.A few more things to look out for, I'll definitely be recording a new intro, outro sequence for the show, I'll also be rewriting the whole description for the show, because I feel like this show has evolved so many different ways that for everybody who's new and checking out the show, I feel like that description just doesn't do it justice. So those are the main things I will be doing. I'll also be recording a new trailer, that'll be fun, for Season 2. And all of that should be coming out at the time of you listening to this the coming Monday, or the Monday afterwards. If you're listening to this episode, the day it's released, I should say so just in case you listen to it five years down the line, you're not going to be like what you're on to Season 3 or 4 now.So yeah, that's pretty much just in a nutshell of the direction I want to be taking it. Honestly, it's really more for me, just to kind of wrap up a whole chapter of my life and to look forward to how I can improve the quality of my content, the way I'm sharing it, and also the different topics that each and every one of you want to be learning about. But yeah, I don't have that much for you today. Honestly, it's really just to know- so let you know what's happening with the show. And more importantly, to thank each and every one of you for being a part of this journey. It's been rough. And I know if you were part of the last couple episodes, I kind of shared a little bit more. So I'm not gonna go into too much detail on this journey. But it's, it's been crazy, right. And I'm excited to see what really comes next after this. But thank you for being a part of the journey. And for the people that have been since the beginning, I don't know who you are yet, do reach out, you can always send me an email at king@theneogenesis.com. That's just a way for me to see who's on the other side of these episodes. But if you're someone who's only recently tuned in, I still want to thank you, and I still appreciate you! I highly recommend you going through the content that I've posted already. There's a lot of stuff that you can learn from that as well. But thank you all for being a part of this journey! Thank you all for supporting me throughout this. It honestly means so much that for the few of you who have reached out and shared with me how you know me what I'm sharing has helped you, that really means the most. So I don't plan to monetize this podcast anytime soon. But your feedback is always something that I look forward to because I think that's what gives me the drive and the energy that I need each and every time I plan out and record these episodes. They don't come easy, right? A lot of the times, it takes me at least an hour and a half, two hours to plan out each- sorry, each episode on top of recording it and editing it. So a lot of the times right, these things might seem easy, but there's a lot of work that goes behind the scenes. And I'm not saying this to be like "support me because I'm putting in so much work", but to just be transparent on it doesn't come easy. Like most people say like "I can start a podcast". Yeah, anybody could start a podcast, but are you able to stay consistent, do it right, and actually plan out content that would add value to people's lives? And I think that is the key part, right? Like you can start a podcast, but how much value are you adding? Right? How much are you actually planning out your content so it actually- they are actually learning points from it. So these are all things I had to pick up? And I'm actually curious, right if you're somebody who's listened to all my episodes from day one, well maybe not all my episodes but for some episodes from since day one till now let me know how the progress of improvement has been. Because like I said, in the very beginning I had to write it out and read out the script. Now I kind of have a few pointers and I just kind of go for it. So working my way there and really improving slowly over time. But I will have a Season 2 coming out. I am planning great things, and I'm excited to see how I can continue growing the show. If you really enjoyed my content up until this point, please please please show me some love, show me some support by rating and subscribing to the show. Really helps me helps with the SEO algorithm gods. So yeah, if you found value, leave me a review. If you- if review is too much work, then just leave me a rating. Everything is appreciated! But I'm excited to share more with you. I'm going to keep this one brief. I feel like I'm rambling just because I don't have a lot to share today. But I hope that you have found value in the first 49 episodes of my journey, and it's a bittersweet moment wrapping this up. I'm super excited. It's been one of those things that even though the 50th episode is just another episode of me sitting in front of this mic, and sharing my thoughts, it just feels different. And I'm excited to see what Season 2 has to bring and how Season 2 is gonna unfold because I don't even know how I'm gonna end Season 2.It'll feel right when it feels right. But thank you again for being a part of this community. And until next time, stay hungry. [Cue Outro]

It's your boy King here, and I want to welcome you to the 48th episode of the Plan to Fail Podcast. I can't believe we're at 48 episodes! I think that when I first started this journey, I remember 50 was the big milestone for me, and now that we're two episodes away from it... I have exciting things coming up for Episode 50. Something I did bring up at the end of the last episode was I'm actually wrapping up this season on Episode 49.So the next episode would actually be the season finale, and it was something that I didn't really plan for. I think that as I was planning out this week's episodes, it was something that felt right because, with the summit over and everything, it felt like it was an end to a chapter and a start of the next chapter that I'm still figuring out what that first steps look like. But I feel like it would be fitting, as I'm documenting this journey, because something that I've been very vocal about is, as much as I love sharing content out here to help you reframe your perspective, right, not just on entrepreneurship, but really on life, I'm also using this to document my journey on the things I share. And I feel like the first bit, the first 49 episodes was a good foundation. I really showed who I was, where I was in my journey, and I feel like ever since the summit went live, ever since I started publishing more, I went and interviewed 31 entrepreneurs, went on a bunch of IG lives, I felt like the energy has shifted. And it's about time for me, to move on to Season 2 and plan it out there. But today, I really just want to kind of go through what I've been reflecting on for the past six months, or the things I've been reflecting on the past six months. And I really want to show you a tool that I use to help me reflect on the past and to see how far I've come, especially during the times when I need the most self-confidence. So stay tuned and see how you can start measuring your growth as well.[Cue Intro]I'm going to start off by saying that if you told me that I would be where I am today, a year ago, I would laugh at you and call you crazy. I honestly have never been through such an intense period of change in my life. And I'm now kind of reflecting back on the journey so far. I'm very glad that it worked out the way did, leaving finance, starting my first online business and having it not work out, to really learning to find my voice by publishing on this podcast. For the new people that have been tuning in, I highly recommend you check the first 10 episodes. Those were the episodes I would script out, read, and pretend I wasn't reading. So just looking back and just doing the reflecting even on this podcast alone has shown me how far I've come. But it wasn't easy, right to get to 48 episodes today, it has been a struggle of learning how to stay consistent, you know, fighting through the doubts you have. And I'm actually starting to see results because I have people that have been reaching out to me saying that the stuff I've been putting out there has helped them. And I think that is the best thing that I as a content creator, you could ever hear is that the effort you put in behind the scenes, even though you don't know who it's helping, is going to help people. And I think that if I were to give any advice to somebody who wants to start publishing or just creating content, is that go out with the intent- with the intention of you never know who you're going to help. And instead of trying to speak to a very specific individual, post content that resonates with you, and you will attract the right people. But that's just really one example right, the summit alone too, before the summit, I was terrified of interviewing people. My thought was really, really like "who am I to be interviewing all these people" and I was terrified. I was sweating balls. And it was a tough, tough period of time, especially having to go through 31 interviews in pretty much a span of a month... that was crazy intensive on top of you know, having to learn the skills of funnel building. I also learned Facebook ads during my short time at the end, I should say of my career in finance. So I learned Facebook ads, I learned how to build funnels, I learned digital marketing, email marketing, I learned how to interview, start a podcast, how to record, edit put together a summit, host a summit... And that all happened in the past year or so I believe. And if you add it all up together, that's when things were like, holy crap, did I really do all of that in a year? Right?Um, I say that knowing that it wasn't, it didn't come easy, either. Right? This last year has been the toughest in my life, right? Emotionally, mentally, and physically. Like I haven't been consistently physically working out lately, just because of the amount of stress I've been under. And that's something that I've been very, very conscious of. But at the same time, emotionally speaking too that has been the hardest. I had my first panic attack last year, trying to do this and figure out this plan. And but it was because of those hard times that I have become the person I am today. And I wouldn't be so confidently speaking to you right now if I didn't go through that. And it's because I don't think I'm any better than you. I don't think that I am more talented than you, I might have more skills in certain areas than you, but that was all a result of me willing to put in the work. And I sucked out in the beginning. And there's still so many aspects I suck at.And that's why it's so important for you to see it in a different way, instead of seeing failures as failures, what you really need to be doing is seeing them as learning opportunities. And this last year has been a huge learning opportunity. I've been stretched in so many ways unimaginable. And the fact is, if I didn't go through what I went through, I would have never developed those skills on my own. And a lot of the times we end up developing skills by doing the things we don't want to do when we actually care about it. When we actually want to learn that skill, or we know that whatever skill we're learning will help us work towards our goals, right? And that's why it's so important to have that vision. It's so important to have that direction, that clarity, because if you're trying to teach yourself how to do a certain thing because for the sake of learning a certain thing is much harder. But when you know that, whatever you're learning is going to play a huge role in your success or is going to play a huge role in whatever you're aiming for, then that energy shifts. And suddenly, it's not like a nice to have, but a must-have. And when you start seeing certain skills as must-haves, you'll do whatever it takes to do it.And that's what I that's why I love using publishing as an example. I was terrified as publishing, I was terrified at putting myself out there, or sounding imperfect, right. And I know that a lot of people struggle with that, too. It's because it's one of those things that, you know, we put ourselves out there, but we don't have the confidence to actually truly believe in the stuff we're putting out there. And that's why it's so important for you to do it right, to do the things that terrify you, build your self-confidence.It's because like if you don't want to be affected by the negative comments, you don't want to be affected by other people talking smack about you or doubting you, you really need to build that strong foundation of confidence because that confidence is what is going to allow you to go out there, make a fool out of yourself, you learn skills that are extremely hard, that will take time, that you will look like a fool, day in and day out, trying to develop those skills.Well, that's easier said than done. What happens when things get tough? What happens when you're faced with a challenge that you actually doubt that you would actually be able to get through? This has been the story of my life, the last year, right? It has been a challenge after challenge that I faced that I didn't know was I capable of actually accomplishing it or getting over this hump. And something that's really helped me is something I've learned from Mindvalley, which was originally from Dan Sullivan, I believe, which is what I called the Reverse Gap.And what the Reverse Gap really is, is a comparison of who you are, let's just say five years ago, and that timeframe can be arbitrary. You can say, I want to reflect on what I've gone through, the things I've accomplished, the things I've learned last, let's say a year instead of five years. So what you'd end up doing as you start writing down the things you've accomplished. So let's just say this past year for me, right this past year, I switched industries, I left my only income source, I learned Facebook ads in the process, I learned how to dropship, I learned how to set up a Shopify store, I learned everything ClickFunnels, I learned how to build sales funnels, I learned email marketing, I learned how to create a podcast, I learned how to you know to build websites, I learned how to host a summit and, you know what I mean, interview, facilitate great interviews, I've learned how to create promo assets, I learned how to publish... that was all in In a span of 12 months, probably less than that, at this point in time of me recording this. And when you start listing things out of the things you've gone through and the things you've learned, you start to, you start to see like, Wow, did I really accomplish all that? If you want to extend it extended to five years, five years ago, what was it five years ago, I was probably when, is when I first dropped out of university and started in the finance industry. I was terrified of commissions, I didn't think people were able to make a living off commissions, I wanted the stability. I never mind, being an entrepreneur, a full-fledged entrepreneur, never mind publishing and putting content out there. That was not me. But in that span of five years, I was not only able to develop those skills but to get comfortable and confident in those skills. So it's, it's something this is the activity that helped me really build that self-confidence, especially during those times that I doubted myself, I doubted my ability. And why is that helpful is because you might not realize this, but subconsciously, we're always comparing ourselves to the person we want to become. We're always comparing ourselves to the version of us that we're not... yet. And it's something that society has really taught us, right, think about, "what do you want to be when you grow up"? You go to school, and you get marks for your future, so you can have a bright future. So we're always aiming for goals, we're taught to aim for goals, and to always improve ourselves. And I'm not saying that's a bad thing, you should always be looking to better yourselves, you should always be finding new ways to improve yourself and become the best version of yourself. But at the same time, you also have to recognize that you cannot keep comparing yourself to the person you're not yet because even though you start achieving your goals, that line will always move. You'll always be chasing that goal, and that's why you'll never feel like you're enough. But if you're able to switch that around and start comparing yourself to the person you were five years ago, a year ago, three months ago, and start listing out all the things that you have accomplished and you've learned, you will start to see how much you've accomplished over a short period of time, or even over a long period of time, right? And especially during those moments, when you're faced with a challenge that you don't know how you're going to tackle, those are the moments that you need to utilize this- this exercise. And why? It's because when you feel like you don't have the capability of getting through something, of accomplishing something, look at what you've been through and how you survived, right? Not just survived, but how you thrived, right? How you bounce back from every adversity you face. And when you start bringing that from your subconscious to your conscious, you'll actually start feeling better about yourself, I promise you. And I remember the first time I did this activity, I was like, "you're joking, right? This isn't gonna work. This is stupid. Why would I ever write it down"?But when I wrote it down, and I started looking and reading that list, I was like, holy crap. Did I really accomplish that much in a year? Did I really accomplish that in five years? That's crazy, right? And so it's something that it's really helped me, especially when I had put together the summit. I did not think I was capable of putting a summit, I'll be the first to admit. I had doubts, I didn't know how to facilitate conversations, I didn't know how to reach out. There's so many things I did not know, before I started. But before I started, I did this exercise. I was like, wow, five years ago, who was I? and comparing myself who I am today to who I was five years ago, blows my mind. And I was like, wow, if I could get through that, I can definitely get through the summit, and here I am on the other side of the summit. So a lot of this is also me living the example, right? I'm not a big fan of telling people what to do. I never liked being told what to do because I never understood why I was told that right? I think the best way for you to help other people, to impact other people, is really to live your best life, right? Lead by example, and share those examples and hopefully inspire other people to take action as well and this is really my goal with this podcast, why I'm sharing all these, the ups and the downs, right? And it's been tough, right?Even after the summit, most people might not see the success, right? But at the same time, I see it no matter what as a success, and still figuring out what the next steps are, but like, I know that the most important part, right is to be open, and to know and be confident in yourself. So the next time you're feeling self-doubt, compare yourself to who you were a year ago, five years ago, it will do wonders, I promise you that. But I hope you found value in that right? As I'm wrapping up the season, it's really been a lot of reflecting and the next- the last couple episodes were really the things that really helped me and the things I've learned. These were literally the biggest lessons in the last three months. Last, if you didn't haven't had the chance to tune in to the last episode, I highly recommended it. I really kind of boiled down the biggest takeaway I had from the summit. So if you're curious about what I've learned, putting together a free event, for three months, I definitely highly recommend you to check that out. I promise you, you won't regret it.But for this episode, yeah, use the Reverse Gap. It's helped me tremendously, something I picked up, I can't take credit for it. I didn't create it, but it is brilliant. And I promise you that you won't regret trying it out. What do you have to lose? Right, it's really five minutes of your time, and writing it down.So I hope you found value in that. If you have, please subscribe, rate, share this podcast. It really helps me to grow it, and to get it in front of the people that need to hear this message. So I just want to let you know, I appreciate you. Next episode is going to be the season finale. It's going to be a shorter episode. It's really just to set expectations on what to expect for Season 2. I'll be spending more time on planning out the content, the trailers, the interviews that I want to be sharing in Season 2. So stay tuned for that! But until then, know that I appreciate each and every one of you. I want to thank you all for being part of this community. Really means a lot to me, and I want to see how I can continue to find new ways to serve you and to shift your perspective. But until next time, stay hungry.[Cue Outro]

So I'm going to start with yet another apology and say that I'm sorry for not publishing last week, not uploading any episodes. I know that I've made quite a few commitments to myself and to each and every one of you listening that I will be posting consistently going forward... But there's no excuse. There's no justification. But the last couple of weeks were a little bit tougher than what I'm used to. The summit went live, the summit ended, then I went through a whole period of uncertainty and not knowing which direction to go. So with everything added together, it's been a little overwhelming the past couple of weeks, but I'm glad I'm back. And I feel like I spent a lot of time processing and I have more of a direction with the podcast and the direction I want to be taking it. So make sure you stay tuned for that. But today, I really want to just share more about the biggest takeaway that I've learned throughout the process of putting together the summit, and how that would actually help you start redefining what success means to you. [Cue Intro]So where do I even begin with the last three weeks? It's been such a crazy roller coaster ride that I'm still taking the time to process what has really happened. I would have to say ever since the end of 2019... Sorry, not 2019, 2020. Just this last year, is when I really fully committed myself to the summit. And ever since then it's been just sprinting in a marathon, not knowing when you're going to run out of gas. But knowing that once you start, you have to finish you got to see it through. So finally being on the other side of that conversation being on the other side of the summit. And now with everything said and done, it's been really hard just figuring out what really comes next. Because for each and every one of you that has been following me this whole time, you'll know that I've been taking this journey really step by step. I really hadn't really planned out everything before taking that first step. And why I did that was because my whole life I've always struggled with over planning, overthinking and as a result, not taking any action because I would always think about how things could go wrong or how things have to fit into place, and is it worth taking the risk. So I was really that person that really took it to the extreme where I needed to know every step of the way. I needed to know every piece of the puzzle before I was really even willing to commit that very first step. But during this whole process of putting this summit together, I learned that I can't be more wrong about that. Because for the first time in my life, I decided to go out on this path, this journey and put together a summit — a free event for three weeks without the promise of money because the event was free, right? People had the option to upgrade their ticket to an All-Access Pass to keep lifetime access to each and every one of the interviews. But at the same time that wasn't required. For the people who did just wanted to show up for the three days that the summit went live, the event was free. So going through this process has been the I would say the most uncertain it's ever been, not knowing where I was going to be financially coming out of this. I didn't know where I was going to be mentally, emotionally and physically having to put in so much work in such a short period of time. And I'm glad I did it. I really am because both- it was just my business partner I that pulled us together, it was a team of two. And we pulled together a three-day virtual summit that had 31 speakers from I believe six or seven different countries. So it was quite the accomplishment, putting it all together, organizing it, and also learning the skills that were necessary in order to get there. So when the summit first went live, it was one of the most unreal moments of my life because I've worked on this project or on this project for the last three months. And I finally shared it with the world and over the course of the three days the summit went live, it was a whirlwind. It's kind of funny, because when the summit goes live, when the event goes live, you're supposed to bring the most energy, as much as you can. But I was the most exhausted. I've literally been pulling all-nighters for pretty much three weeks in a row. My business partner has been pulling all-nighters for three weeks in a row. We were exhausted. So over the three days, we were literally engaging as much as we can with our online communities we built because since it wasn't exactly a live event, and all the interviews were pre-recorded and broadcasted for 24 hours on each day because we were trying to reach a global audience, it was hard to facilitate networking, it was hard to facilitate that sense of community. And that was something that we really learned in that process. But when everything was said and done, that was, honestly the hardest period... was when the summit ended, because I didn't really plan for what life would be like after the summit. Some might call me crazy, some might call me courageous. But whatever your opinion is, that was the reality. Because I wanted to use the summit as a vehicle for me to learn more about my audience, to learn more about the people I'm trying to serve, I'm trying to help. So I can actually create a service or a product that will actually serve a need. So it's a- I don't know what you call it an "unconventional" way of doing business, but it was different than how I've ever done business. Because like I said earlier in this episode that I tried to plan everything else out before I ever take action. So this was a very different approach for me. So going through those, like I would say, the last three, four days, there was just a lot of like, "what now?" Like we were reaching out, we were sending out surveys, we were actually getting feedback from everybody who attended the summit (or the people who are willing to submit a survey). And it was... it was just I think the hardest part was really deciphering what people wanted. Because at the end of the day, it really still is an assumption on our end. We can gather as much information as we possibly can, but we don't know what the people really want, and the survey was the closest for us to get that information. And going through that process of figuring out processing and having people asking me, "Was the summit even a success"? And I had so many friends ask me because how can I blame them? That's- the summit has been literally everything I've been talking about up until this point in time. So with all the questions on top of, you know, my own struggle of finding clarity, it got overwhelming. And I kind of dropped off social media for a bit, I didn't publish any podcast episodes for a bit, and it was just an emotional roller coaster. But like I said, it's always the periods of time that are the toughest that you learn the most. And I can confidently say that the past week, like right after the summit, was definitely the hardest it's been in this journey. And I find that surprising because I thought going through the summit, putting it together, learning how to conduct interviews, edit interviews, put- build up the funnel and the sites for the summit, those were going to be the hard parts, because there's a lot of learning involved. But it was really the last week because I felt like I still had a focus when it came to the summit. So when the summit ended, and now it was really up to me to build out the next part of my business, of this business, it got scary, it got hard because now I had to make decisions. And each decision, as educated as it can get, is still an assumption. And this is where for me my ability to really critically think actually holds me back. Because for the most part, critical thinking is great. You know, I mean, you process everything you make sure you- have all your ducks in a row, you make sure you tie up all loose ends before making a decision. But at the same time, when you overthink it that would actually prevent you from taking action. However, we have been getting feedback, I can't deny that it's been a slow, gruelling process. And at the same time, it's really taught me to really... I wouldn't say be patient, I never liked telling people to be patient, because you need to be aggressive in getting what you want, but at the same time, you have to recognize that in order for you to do anything great, it takes time. And at times, it might feel like waking up to the same reality. And that was pretty much what it was like for me for the summit. Now I've made so many great connections now have a platform, I have a clear direction. But it took three months of waking up to the same reality for me to get to this point. And every day when I woke up during the process of putting together the summit, I would question myself, "why am I still doing this"? "Is it worth it"? "Is it worth the time I put into it"? So I think a huge lesson to be learned here is that you have to be aggressive... I wouldn't say be patient, but at the same time, you have to recognize that change doesn't happen immediately. And there will be days that you wake up working towards a goal or a project that will take quite a bit of time for you to complete and during that period of time you will be waking up to the same reality. So you have to build the grit, right, and you also have to have a clear vision of where you're aiming for because it will be a process. For the summit, which took three months. For me to really build up Neo Genesis and create a community around it and build it out the way I want it to build, it'll take years, there's no doubt about that. So it's so important for you to be passionate about what you're doing. It's not because passion will pay you money, you have to find that good in-between, between not working on something that you won't hate waking up in the morning to work on. But at the same time, you have to be able to monetize it because I feel like on a creative standpoint, now I've been networking with more creatives and I have been becoming more of a creative myself, is that while doing something that you're passionate about is great. But at the end of the day, if you can't monetize it, you can't continue doing it because we still live in a world that is run by money, right? Like it or not, and it requires money for you to continue to do what you're passionate about. And more importantly, impact people by doing what you're passionate about. And that was a huge key thing because you have all the entrepreneurs that only care about money. I can't say for every entrepreneur, but you have all the business people that is very money-focused, but then you have all the creatives that are really focused on their passion and how their work can impact people. But it's an in-between. and I could go on and on about the different lessons that I have learned, but the one thing I do want to bring up before I go to my biggest takeaway from the summit is that all entrepreneurs are creatives, and all creatives are entrepreneurs. And that's how it should be. And I think that I come from more of a business / entrepreneurial background. I never saw myself as a creative before the summit before this podcast, and I also know a lot of creatives that don't see themselves as entrepreneurs, because they just see themselves as artists. And that's not a bad thing. But at the same time, I feel like entrepreneurs and artists, creatives are really one of the same because if you think of our businesses in this way, in this perspective, a business is really a creation, right? It's an expression from your soul. If you are able to create a business that can impact people, that was an idea that you formed, and you were using your idea as a vehicle as your business as a vehicle to create impact. So no, I really want more and more entrepreneurs to see themselves as creative. But that's me on a tangent, on a side note. To get to the meat of this episode, the biggest lesson I've learned from the summit. And I think that you might be surprised, you might not be, and the biggest thing was really don't get too attached to an outcome. When especially when you're determining if something was a success or a failure. It is very easy for us to fall into that trap because this is something I've literally been struggling with this past week. And it's something that I've been very aware of, even before the summit launched, was how was I going to define what was a successful summit or not. And because of how society has taught us how to view success, a lot of the time we tie it to an outcome. So for example, with the summit, I could have easily said that the summit is only a success if I get X amount of speakers, or the summit is only a success if I get X amount of people registering for the event, or it's only a success if I make X amount of dollars. A lot of the times in business, that's how we measure success, it's if you think about it, it's actually very similar to a school, if you get X amount of marks, you get an A, you get X amount of marks, you get a B, you get enough A's, a high enough GPA, you graduate or you get to go to post-grad, whatever it is, that's just how our society runs. So as a result, it is actually very, very ingrained in us how we should determine if something we did was successful or not. But if I've learned anything in this process of putting together this summit is that if you tie your success to the outcome of whatever you're doing, you're looking at it completely wrong. What you need to be doing instead is to look back at the project, or whatever you're working on, and see what you've learned in the process. So I'm gonna use the summit, for example, because this has been my life. And this is where I'm drawing this experience from. And during the summit, like quite honestly, I didn't hit the number of registrations I wanted to hit. I didn't make the amount of money I wanted to make. Yes, it was a free event. But I also had a certain expectation that there would be a handful of people upgrading to the All-Access Pass... and that didn't happen. So very naturally, I would be disappointed. I'd be like okay, I put all this effort in and it didn't really have the desired results that I was looking for. And for a while, I was going towards that way of thinking. But I had to remind myself at the end of the day, what is considered a "success" is up to you. And a lot of the time, we don't think about that is because society has taught us to view success in a certain way, right? If we make X amount of dollars in a project, in business, now you're a success, that project was a success, that venture was a success. And I'm not saying that's not great at all. But I feel like if you determine it like that you miss out a lot of it because it's really about what you learn in the process. I don't know, am I repeating myself at this point in time, but like I said, for the summit, right, I've learned how to interview people, right? I went through a whole pressure cooker of learning how to facilitate interviews with 31 expert entrepreneurs. I had to learn how to build a membership site for All-Access Pass members. I had to learn how to build the site for the summit. I had to learn how to create great interview questions. I had to learn how to deal with all the emotional garbage that's happening in your head while you're going through these periods of growth and discomfort. And over the three months, if I look back on it, I definitely have become a different person than the process. And if I didn't go through it, I would still be... I would say, not less of a person, but I would be less capable because I didn't push myself to do this. So... So this process was priceless, in a sense. Before the summit even launched, I already saw it as a success. Obviously, it's one thing to tell yourself, and it's another thing to emotionally feel it. And that's why it's so important for you to be conscious because I'm telling myself that this is summit was a success no matter what. That doesn't mean that I'm in a- I'm going to immediately feel that result. And I think that's important part is that, oh, I need to feel it immediately if I see something a certain way. But that's not the case. It's about being very conscious that even though I might not feel like the summit was a success right now, I know deep down it is. And I need to keep reminding myself every time I have a negative thought of like "why I did this summit", or "why did I put so much time into it", I remind myself that I put in so much time not because of the money, not because of you know the clout, or how many people I can even reach, but who have I become in the process of putting the summit together? And I think that it's so important and it's a point that so many people miss. So I'm going to repeat it one more time: Do not attach the outcome to what you determine as successful or not. Because the more you are open to any outcome, the more you are less married to a particular outcome, the more you learn from that experience. The more you learn from that experience, the better you get. The better you get, the more accomplished you get, and the more confident you get in yourself. And the more you learn, the faster you grow. And it's all tied in together, right. And that's why it's so important for you to start off with the right perspective to see things in the right lens... is because it's really the beginning of everything. How you see things, what your perspective is, will determine how you tackle each challenge every single day and what you learn from each challenge. And I think that is a huge part where, you know, we always talk about how two people can tackle the same situation with a different attitude. But at the same time, not a lot of people talk about that two people can walk away from the same situation, learning differently, learning at different paces. One person might come out of the same situation learning 100 times more than another person. And it all starts with how they view the challenge, how they view what they do, and their perspective on what they determine as successful. So, yeah, that was really the biggest takeaway I had. I've learned a lot more, and you know, I will be continuing to dissect the different things I've learned to apply to myself and to apply to know the content I'm deciding to put out going forward. But that's all I have for you today, there's really one key takeaway. I know I had a few other nuggets sprinkled in, but the one thing I really want you to remember is to stop determining what you see as successful or a failure based on the outcome. Start basing it on what you've learned in the process, how you've grown in the process, and the person you've become in the process. So I hope that's helped. I have a couple more episodes before I'm actually ending off this season. I'll have more details on that I'm not going to go too far into it. But it feels right for me to turn this show into a season-based show just to kind of document my journey. Now the summit's over I believe that- or I feel like it's best for us to start Season 2, a new chapter. But I will actually be going into more detail in a later episode on this. But until then, right, show me some love. If you found value in this rate, share, subscribe. Any sort of support really just helps me get a better feel on the content I'm putting out there. I think a lot of content creation, podcasting is a shot in the dark, not knowing what's going to help people. So If this resonated with you, give me a thumbs up, shoot me an email, or yeah, just give me a review on Google podcasts, Apple podcasts or Spotify. Whatever it is. But yeah, until then, I am looking forward to their very next episode. Stay hungry.[Cue Outro]

It's King here, and I want to welcome you all back to the Plan to Fail Podcast. Today is going to be, the final day of me talking about the summit.if you haven't had the chance to tune into the last two episodes, I really shared more about the update of the summit and the lessons I've learned going through. The process of putting together the summit and the past two weeks have been crazy. I've contemplated multiple times on if I really even wanted to record these podcast episodes, but at the end of the day, I really wanted to stay accountable to myself, I wanted to stay accountable to you as a listener because I appreciate your commitment to following me along on this journey. And even though I might be tripping on some of my words, because I am severely lacking sleep. I appreciate your support, and I appreciate that you're still here with me. So today I really just want to talk about the journey or where I plan to go after the summit. I think a lot of my friends have been asking like, what comes after this? For the longest time, I didn't know. But today I'll share a little bit more about the vision I have after the summit, and it's still being built out. I'm not saying I know everything yet, but at the same time, I have some sort of framework to work on. So stay tuned to find out more.[00:01:05] [Intro Sequence] If you've been through school, chances are, you've been taught to fear one thing. That thing is called failure. What they didn't teach you is that the more you fail, the faster you will learn and succeed. Join me on my journey to uncover the reason why most graduates leave school, feeling lost and confused. We'll unlock the secret to finding clarity, direction and purpose in life. My name is King Lau and welcome to Plan to Fail. [00:01:35] It's funny now, thinking about what comes after the summit because, for the longest time, I've honestly been avoiding this topic because I've started this journey focusing on one step at a time. And while I've been seeing things come together, it's been one of these stresses in my life where I'm like, I have no idea which direction I wanted to go, but as I was going through all these interviews the past week or so each person I've talked to we've chatted a little bit about the vision that comes after the summit; and after each person, I talked to I honestly felt a little more clear on where I wanted to go. And really the summit was for me to do market research, right? It's for me to understand who I'm really talking to because too often than not a lot of businesses make this mistake of assuming that they know what their audience wants. They know their market wants and I feel like for me is I just don't have the time or the money to make those mistakes. So I needed to understand who I'm attracting with the summit. Who are these people? What are their needs? What are their pain points? And that was really my goal with this whole summit. And I can't really create anything until I have that data that I can actually interpret.[00:02:43] At the end of the day, the summit is really just helping people bring awareness, how to consciously build their business. A lot of this was inspired by my four years in finance. I built up the practice that I hated because I didn't have a clear vision for myself. I didn't consciously build it in a way that would complement the lifestyle I wanted. So because of that, I ended up being miserable. I know that a lot of people go through that because a lot of people are like, I just want my business. I want financial freedom. So they end up building a business that they're not even passionate about. This is such a huge mistake for early-stage entrepreneurs, practice owners, whatever you want to call it. And the other side of it, it was like making money is great, but how do you bring that long-term fulfillment? How do you create a business and build it in a way that creates impact all around the world? And even it doesn't have to be all around the world, even in your own local community. How can you put in business processes that actually add so much value? Bring a sense of community around your business. So when something is really to bring awareness, that's what it's free upfront. Yeah, I still got to make money somehow. So at the same time, if the people who see the value in it want the deep dive sessions that want to keep the interviews for life, that's an option for them. [00:03:56] But at the end of the day, everybody can get these interviews for free. On the three days it goes live. My goal, like I said, was to bring awareness to it. So as I'm building this out, something I really learned is. You have the personal development coaches, that really focus on mindset on who you need to become. But a lot of the time, they don't teach them how they can execute what they're learning. On the other side, you have the business coaches that focus a lot on the tips and tricks, the hacks, and different strategies to grow and scale your business, but I could be wrong, but there's a gap in between. Where, how do you merge personal development and business? Because business is a vehicle for personal development. Business is where you practice, what you learn in personal development. And there's so much focus in business that, how do you grow your business through tactics, tricks, tips, whatever you want to call it, but not enough on who you need to become in order for you to achieve that success. And I think that it is so important and there's such a huge gap in it because it's either people who do mindset training and all they do is talk about mindset and thinking a certain way. That's why mindset has such a bad rap to it because. A lot of people think that it's just a way of thinking, yes, it is a way of thinking, but how has that way of thinking, going to affect how you build your business and that's the missing piece.[00:05:12] For me, I'm still figuring out what comes after this, but as I'm doing this, the next piece of what I really want to bring to the market to the world is creating a 30-day challenge. And this 30-day challenge, what it's really going to do is help people apply what they learned from the summit. I think that it's so important too because there are so many events that we all go to and I'm sure you've been to one. I've definitely been to one where you go, you get super inspired and then that's it, and then there's nothing that comes after that. So for us, what I'm trying to do is to create a 30-day challenge that comes two weeks after the summit. The challenge really surrounds is how do you apply everything we've learned to yourself? And maybe even though you're not able to execute it, maybe you're in business already and you can start applying these things, or maybe you're not, and you're really contemplating on starting your business and wanting to find the right path to starting at the right. So the challenge, that's what really, the focus is on as to help people apply it. And I have no idea what comes after the challenge. Like I said, it's really just one step of the way, but I think that. But I really wanted to share this is to tell people that I didn't have this whole idea of having a challenge on the backend, especially what the challenge was. It's going to be about before I even got the speakers. It's so important for all of you to take that first step and focus on what's in front of you.[00:06:34] I promise you that if you're willing to put yourself out there, granted that you're putting everything you have, and you're actually trying to learn and grow, you're not blaming people, going that victim mentality, and not taking responsibility, you will be okay. As long as you take full responsibility for your life. And you know that you have to push through, even if you don't know every step of the way, you will be okay. As long as you show the right intention, as long as you put every ounce of what you have into it, you will experience the grace that I have experienced. [00:07:06] But honestly, that's all I really have for you today. Like I said, this episode was really just to give you an idea of what comes after the summit for the people who are listening. Because I think that even on social media, I've stressed so much on not knowing what comes after the summit and. I really want to use my journey as an example, that it's possible.[00:07:26] It's possible not to know everything before you commit to it. The most important part is to commit and show an intention that you really want this. And as long as you really want it, that way will present itself. But that's all I have for you today. Like I said, and until next time I love you guys. Stay hungry.[00:07:44] [Outro Sequence] Thanks for listening to this episode of Plan to Fail. As Tony Robbins has said... "success leaves clues". It's so important to model the things that have made some entrepreneurs so successful. And I want to welcome you all back to the Plan to Fail podcast. For those of you who've had the chance to tune in to the last episode, I shared a little bit more about the summit update. This whole process and how hard it's been the last couple of weeks. And it's really stretched me and pushed me in ways that I never thought I could go. But at the same time, I've grown so much. But for those of you who have missed it, this week, I'm really focusing all these episodes on just this whole journey. In the summit, what I've learned and where I plan to go afterwards. So in today's episode, I'll be sharing more about the things I've learned. More importantly, I think the five things I've learned throughout this process of putting together the summit, and how these things that I've learned, will actually play a huge role in how successful you become.[00:01:17] So to be quite transparent with all of you, I am quite pressed for time. So I'm going to really just jump right into it and tell you the five things I've learned in the process of putting together the summit. So the first thing is really just an affirmation of something I've talked about in a previous episode about business being a game of faith and you having to take that first step without knowing the whole picture. And each step you take, you're going to get more clarity, the next step of the way will present itself. And why I'm stressing it again now is because this whole process of putting together this summit, never in my wildest imaginations, I would have seen everything come together like this, getting the speakers, up until the end of January, I've only had 16 speakers. And within the next week, I've had 30. And now my full roster of speakers is 32 speakers, even with a Jewish Rabbi opening for the summit, and he's open for the 150th US Congress. So never in my wildest imaginations, I think that's the best way I can put it. And I think that when I first started the summit, I didn't really have a clear vision of which direction I wanted to go. I didn't even know who I wanted to talk to. And now I know that the summit is really revolving around helping entrepreneurs consciously build their business that focuses on how their business can serve their life, and how their business can impact the world in a positive way.[00:02:36] With that being said, that wasn't always the case. In the very early stages of me putting together this summit, one of the biggest stresses was like, What am I talking to? What did I really want to talk about? I knew I wanted to talk about something business-related because I really love entrepreneurship because I see it as a personal development journey more than just the business one. And I also love personal development. I love mindset stuff. Because everything starts with your mindset, I always say 80% of everything you do is mindset and 20% is actually executed. Because your mindset shapes your perception, your perception will shape your reality, and your reality will dictate what you do or do not do in each and every circumstance. But at the same time, I recognize that if there's no way for you to execute what you learn in your own personal development journey, then there's no point in it, because at the end of the day learning is one half of it, you also have to execute and practice it. And so what I wanted to do is to merge the two, because in business, there's too much focus on , the business tips and tricks of growing and scaling your business. And I'm not saying that's not important, but there's just not enough emphasis on having to become or learning to grow into the person you need to become in order for you to achieve success. So that's the gap. I've been really trying to focus myself on trying to fill and seeing how I can create a product or service that fills that gap. But just like the speakers , I never in my wildest imagination would have thought that I would be going down this path when I first started, why I'm sharing this with all of you is I want this to illustrate that you don't need to know where you're going before you start. Yes, it's terrifying. But at the same time, I've never felt more alive. And now seeing how things have come together. It gives me more faith to continue to push forward.[00:04:24] The second thing I really learned throughout putting this summit together is attention to detail matter. I didn't have a name for myself. When I first reached out to our initial batch of speakers. The second batch was really from referrals, people that knew other speakers that knew other people that would be a right fit. What really helped me build these relationships was the attention to detail. We made sure that we had DocuSign to send speaker releases, we had an online form to collect their bio their headshot, lead magnets, we had email sequences to make sure that we're communicating properly with all our speakers. We had a Facebook speaker group, so we could push updates and introduce other speakers. So all these little things is what played a role in a lot of these speakers saying yes to us. I even had one of the speakers say that somebody else reached out to them for something summit-related or speaking-related event, and they didn't have links for them, they didn't have any more information. But hey, would you like to speak at my event? And they were laughing and told me that they probably wouldn't say yes. The reason why they said yes to us is because we had the attention to detail to make sure that we had all our bases covered. We were giving the proper links, and we were communicating properly. So taking this out of the context of a summit, it doesn't matter what you're doing, anything you're doing, the more attention to detail you give, the better you will be and the faster you will succeed, the more you will succeed because it's always the nuances that make the difference that separates the great from the good even. [00:05:51] The third thing I've learned is to make sure you communicate, communicate and communicate, I can't stress enough about this point. A lot of the times, things don't always go the way we needed them to go. Things happen. That's life. But it is extremely important for you to communicate, it is extremely important to make sure that your speakers are communicating to you, or whatever business partner, whatever you're doing, because we have to understand that people can't read our minds, we have to make sure that the other party involved knows what exactly is happening. That's something that we stress a lot that we make sure we get to our email communications on time that we make sure that we're informing our speakers, if something comes up, or there's a change in plans, so whatever you're doing in business, and in life, make sure you're communicating even though you might not want to, it's better to communicate it earlier and own up to it than to hide it and having whoever you're working with find out about it later.I think that a lot of the times, we don't want to think about it. And I've done that in the past where I'm like, I'm not going to tell anybody yet, because I'll think about it later. But the best thing you can do when something does come up, is to make sure you communicate as soon as possible, and you own up to it. I think that's the more important part. [00:07:04] The fourth thing I've learned during this process of putting together this summit, is knowing when to say no. And I think the best way I can illustrate it is we had a referral for a speaker on the event. And at first I was super excited I was I'm always very happy when people are support. And I want to be able to reciprocate that, that if somebody was recommended to me that I can provide some value as well. But I didn't do my due diligence. And when I looked into the social profiles of these individuals, I realized they just weren't the right fit for the summit. And I don't know about you, I've always had a struggle saying no. And it's something that I'm still working with, because I want to make sure that, you know, I'm as friendly as possible that I can be as accommodating as possible. And that's just in my nature. But at the same time, they just weren't the right fit. And it just wasn't because of me thinking like, Oh, these guys aren't good enough, because we have speakers that have built 6, 7, 8 figure businesses, and it would not do them justice if I allowed somebody who's just starting out to speak on the summit. So it's not a knock on them . But at the same time is knowing when to say no. And it's hard. I think my business partner talked about it for day and a half, two days before we pull the trigger and say like, yeah, we can't do this, there's no way we can fit them in. And what I really want you to take away from this point is to be okay with saying no, at the end of the day, you got to think about yourself first. If you don't think about yourself first, no one's gonna think for you. So have that self-respect, have that self-confidence in yourself and know when to say no, because it's important, especially in the world of business, there are going to be opportunities come up, people are gonna ask for crazy things. And you have to learn how to stand your ground and say no. [00:08:44] The fifth and final thing I've learned during this whole process is your network is your net worth. And I cannot stress this enough, because without the network I've built the past couple months, I would have never been able to get all the speakers I needed to get, period. Half the speakers on my summit were a referral of some sort. And to be quite honest, if I didn't get these referrals, then I probably wouldn't have hit the number of speakers I needed to make sure that I'm making the best event possible. I probably would have ended with 16 speakers, which is kind of depressing to think about, but at the same time, it's super empowering as well, because of the fact that I fostered a lot of these relationships, I made sure that I cared that people would actually refer their connections and put their neck out for me, even though they've only recently met me. As I'm growing my network, I can see more opportunities, partnerships, joint ventures, whatever you want to call it, right? Having people around you that have succeeded and surrounding yourself with people that are better than you is so crucial. I think one of the biggest fallacies I've lived in the recent past was surrounding myself with people that weren't better than me. And it's not me saying that I'm better than everybody else. But it's always important to find people that are smarter than you, wiser than you, richer than you and surround yourself with those people. And why? It's because it's so important to learn from these people. If you surround yourself with people that are in the same level as you, or even, not as mature as you, then you're not really learning anything from them. And something that after I've surrounded myself with people that are hugely more successful than me, it's been very uncomfortable. But at the same time, I've learned so much from these people. I can't stress enough that I've learned more in the last month in the last three years combined. And that's because I was willing to push myself, I was willing to surround myself with people that made me uncomfortable because it made me feel a little. And that's not a bad thing. You just have to keep your pride and ego in check. [00:10:46] But those are the five tips or the five things I've learned in the last month and a half, two months. And I hope that you can take this out of the context of the summit and apply it to your life as well. Because these are the things that we often overlook. We don't think much about it. We think that we need to learn the next best thing in order to improve, but sometimes it's about looking within and refining what you already know. But that's all I have for you today. I hope you found value in this. I hope you can support this podcast by rating, sharing, and subscribing to it. And I'm excited to touch base with you on the next one. But until then, stay hungry. [00:12:10]
