In this episode of The Purpose Show, I'm sitting down with Amanda Clark for a powerful and honest conversation all about boundaries—especially in personal relationships and marriage. We're diving into what it really looks like to move from people-pleasing to honoring your needs, and how doing this work can totally shift the dynamic in your home and relationships. Amanda shares her journey of healing her inner child, regulating her nervous system, and breaking free from old patterns to create stronger, healthier boundaries. We also explore the complexities of family dynamics, motherhood, and those challenging "witching hour" moments we all know too well. If you've ever struggled to communicate your needs or felt stuck balancing it all, this episode will leave you feeling seen, supported, and empowered to take back your time, energy, and joy—starting today. My links here:https://alliecasazza.com/tpslinks  https://alliecasazza.com/collective Amanda went from a teen mom who lost herself in motherhood to a woman who reclaimed her identity, broke free from the emotional chains of childhood, and built a life she's excited to wake up to.  For years, she wore taking care of everyone else like a badge of honor, drowning in overwhelm and shoulding all over herself. She believed sacrificing yourself as a mom was just the way life was—until she discovered a better way. Breathwork found her during her dad's passing, and everything shifted. She realized mindset work alone wasn't enough—she had to heal her nervous system, set real boundaries, and release the emotional weight keeping her stuck. Now, as The Boundary Queen, she helps moms regulate their nervous systems through breathwork and set boundaries like a boss— so you can stop living for everyone else and find YOU again. https://www.instagram.com/its.amandaclark  https://www.amandaclark.biz/    Chapters 00:00 Introduction and Emotional Breakthroughs 03:10 The Importance of Boundaries 05:57 Navigating Marriage and Boundaries 09:06 The Role of Inner Child Work 11:47 Communicating Boundaries Effectively 15:07 The Impact of Setting Boundaries 17:59 Transforming Relationships Through Boundaries 20:36 Understanding the Witching Hour 22:12 The Importance of Communication in Relationships 24:57 Redefining Masculine and Feminine Roles 29:00 Addressing Unhelpful Partners 35:05 Finding Support and Setting Boundaries

The discussion dives into Amanda's journey as a woman in ministry, navigating her calling within the context of a complementarian background. Amanda shares how her early desire to serve Jesus as a missionary eventually evolved into pastoral leadership, despite the challenges posed by conservative views on women in ministry.Throughout the episode, Amanda reflects on the barriers female pastors often face, such as the societal awkwardness and traditional rules against male and female leaders meeting privately. She also touches on the support she received from key mentors, her theological journey in seminary, and how she reconciled her beliefs with the Bible's teachings on women in leadership. The conversation expands into broader issues affecting the church today, including political polarization, social justice, and the role of discipleship in church growth. Amanda emphasizes the importance of balancing leadership growth with the spiritual development of congregants, avoiding the pitfalls of the church growth model that prioritizes numbers over genuine spiritual depth. This episode also explores Amanda's personal experiences as a lead pastor in a rural, predominantly conservative area. She candidly discusses the challenges of being perceived as too progressive by some, while also attracting those who value her inclusive approach to ministry. Finally, Amanda offers insights on how pastors can stay grounded in their core convictions, resisting the temptation to cater to popular opinion at the expense of their beliefs. It's a powerful discussion about leadership, faith, and the evolving role of women in the church. Earlier this year, emergency room nurse Amanda Clark-Stoner appeared on the first season of Peacock's reality competition show, The Traitors. Amanda visits the Jack Vita Show to discuss her time competing on The Traitors and share her incredible life story of overcoming drug addiction and depression and turning to Jesus Christ.   Amanda placed 12th on The Traitors. Despite having strong relationships with the cast, as a faithful, she mysteriously had to leave the show in episode 6, for reasons unknown to the audience. The show did not reveal why Amanda was forced to leave the show. In this episode of the Jack Vita Show, she sets the record straight, detailing how she was eliminated from contention, after testing positive for COVID-19. How did Amanda contract COVID on The Traitors? Were there quarantining protocols in place? Did other cast members contract COVID? Amanda sets the record straight on her elimination.   Amanda also reflects on her time on The Traitors. What was her strategy, and how would she have continued to play, had she not been forced out? Who did she bond most with and have an alliance with, and what did she think of the celebrities that came in to the mansion? Who from the cast is she still close with now? Is there anything about the show's format and presentation that Amanda would change about it, moving forward?   Amanda was conceived when her parents were 17, and she was adopted and raised by her maternal grandparents. After struggling with serious health issues, Amanda's grandfather committed suicide when Amanda was 11 years-old. This traumatic event, combined with the abandonment she experienced as a young child, and the bullying she was enduring at school, sent Amanda into a dark depression, which led to drug and alcohol abuse. Amanda overdosed more than once as a teenager, and at the age of 15, she was arrested.   Amanda tells the unbelievable story of how God intervened in her life and pulled her off the path she was on, as she got clean and gave her life to Jesus Christ. In the time since, Jesus has transformed her heart and her life. Welcome back to another Mom Biz Pep Talk. Today, let's dive into something that's been on my mind: the fear of judgment. We all want approval, to fit in and be wanted. But here's the thing– fear of judgment often comes from our desire for others' approval. I've been there, overthinking every choice +  worrying about what others might think. Maybe you've been there too? But lately, I've been asking… Why is the approval of others so important? Why does it matter more than just being yourself? Here's what I've learned: the people you want validation from aren't' living YOUR life.  This is your journey so be intentional about breaking  free from this cycle + make choices that feel right for you and your family. It's not always easy to let go of that fear, but I promise you you're not alone. And the first step is awareness. Where are you looking for approval from others, and how is it holding you back? You can enjoy the journey + end the cycle of self-abandonment in the name of trying to gain approval from others and trying to keep them happy! You're going to be judged either way so you may as well do what feels right for you. Remember, you write your story.

The swiftly moving current swirling and curling, taking slight detours around bridge piers. ——— Now imagine something totally different – your view being obscured by several large sandbars, covered in trees, with people coming and going from them. Prior to the 1850s, you would be looking across the river at the infamous Bloody Island, site of frequent fights and duels, or down the river at the quarter-mile wide and two-mile long Duncan Island. If you traveled three miles south of downtown, you'd see Arsenal Island, sitting just offshore of the US Arsenal. Not technically islands, but sandbars, they have all shifted and are now part of the shoreline. Though temporary, each island had its own role to play in St. Louis history. ——— Arsenal Island remained in place the longest of the three. It regularly [changed] its position and size, moving enough for Missouri and Illinois to contest ownership multiple times throughout the 19th century. During the 1860s, the island was home to a quarantine hospital and a large cemetery that received the bodies previously buried at City Cemetery as well as Civil War casualties. A farm on the island provided vegetables to patients at City Hospital. When the eastern side of the island began to wash away and threaten the graveyard, the bodies were reinterred at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. ——— In the 1880s, a farmer who lived on the island was interviewed about how he and his family, who had alternated their citizenship between two different states, handled the unstable nature of the land mass. His answer was that they just moved their house every couple of years to keep up. ——— Here's history is a joint production of the Missouri History Museum and KDHX.  I'm Amanda Clark and this is 88.1 KDHX St. Louis. ———

The report ends with a prediction that Hannerty will someday be richer than the newspaper's editor. Over the next few decades it seemed that prediction had merit as he built a successful career managing just about every theater and entertainment venue in the city. Multiple articles attest to his reputation for saving struggling productions and heading the newest attractions. And this is where I found him – while researching the Globe Cyclorama, a short-lived but novel theater experience that placed viewers in the center of a massive circular space, surrounded by a mix of panoramic painted scenery, live actors, and special effects. While many cities boasted cycloramas, featuring different historic events, the Globe immersed audiences in the 1870 Siege of Paris. When ticket sales lagged, Hannerty personally walked the streets, distributing over 2,000 free passes to encourage visitors. ——— By the turn of the 20th century, the enterprising promoter found himself in demand not just for entertainment ventures, but began consulting on product and event advertisements. Hannerty is credited with designing the iconic logo and marketing materials for the 1904 World's Fair. ——— In 1905, he made front page news by leaving the entertainment industry behind and opening the Hannerty Idea Company - a company whose only products were his ideas. In the early 20th century, the concept of not just owning ones ideas but selling them was unheard of. A newspaper profile calls him a “Doctor of Photography Who Prescribes Poses,” detailing how he gave photographers and designers artistic direction on images accompaning stories – radically changing the look and use of pictures in the newspaper. When published, these photos would be accompanied by a branding tagline that they were a “Hannerty Idea.” ——— A few years later, Hannerty left St. Louis for Manhattan, a pioneer of the modern advertising industry. ——— Here's history is a joint production of the Missouri History Museum and KDHX.  I'm Amanda Clark and this is 88.1 KDHX St. Louis. ———

In this conversation with Amanda Clark, we dive into conversations about motherhood, entrepreneurship, and everything in between. You won't want to miss it! When Amanda got pregnant at 18, she thought her dreams were over. She thought motherhood meant putting herself on the back burner and keeping everyone else happy. A few years later she became the mom sitting on the living room floor wondering if this is all there was to life. With two kids in her lap and tears in her eyes, she drew the line in the sand and said “no more.” She took the first step toward the freedom she desired with time and finances and created my dream life with kids in tow. She helps women heal themselves so they can build their lives in a way that feels good to them while dropping fear of judgment, people-pleasing, and mom guilt.
