Carl and Mike get back into some Falcons talk as they share thoughts on recent reports that the team is adding offensive tackle Carter Warren to their practice squad as well as Cobee Bryant and Nick Nash, who were cut on Tuesday. They also share thoughts on what they feel the team will do this season as they look to navigate with the loss of Kaleb McGary. They then take calls from listeners to share their thoughts on how they feel about the Falcons.
Carl and Mike get back into some Falcons talk as they react to a couple of players reportedly being added to the practice squad to which they discuss if the moves should be considered 'desperate' as they look to replace Kaleb McGary. They get into some NFL headlines including Rashee Rice accepting the 6-game suspension from the league, Kyle Hamilton getting a new 4-yr, $100.4M contract extension with $82M guaranteed and the Micah Parsons, Cowboys situation still being unresolved.
Carl and Mike open up the show with some Falcons talk as they react to Louis Riddick's prediction that James Pearce Jr. will lead the NFL in sacks this season. And as they share their thoughts on Riddick's "bold prediction", Carl notes he believes it is good for the Falcons to have a defensive player with this type of hype, especially if Pearce Jr. is able to live up to expectations.

Carl and Mike get back into more Falcons talk and take a deeper dive into the final 53-man roster as they take a look at each position group and determine which gives them rease to have concern, which Mike believes the defensive line going with only five defensive linemen is an issue but notes the reason may be due to the fact that the team held onto seven wide receivers which they believe is a result of injuries to Darnell Mooney and Ray Ray McCloud.
Carl and Mike get back to Falcons talk and believe they are bringing in a lot of guys who are "J.I.C....just in case" as they look to move forward without Kaleb McGary and believe the team will still be making some type of deal to bring in an offensive tackle they believe will be best to replace McGary. As the conversation continues, they share thoughts on why Carl believes the McGary situation will likely have Michael Penix Jr. being more of a "game manager" and does not need to be expected to be slinging the ball around the field.
Carl and Mike come back with some more Falcons talk as they share more thoughts on why Carl believes in Week 1 Michael Penix Jr. needs to be more of a game manager due to the fact that they will be figuring out their right tackle situation.
Carl and Mike close out the show with final thoughts on their conversation on why Michael Penix Jr. may be better off being more of a game manager in regards to the Falcons putting him in the best position to win as they deal with the loss of Kaleb McGary. They then share thoughts on the Braves 12-1 win over the Marlins today and there being some chippiness due to a pitcher going in and high on Ronald Acuna Jr.

Teams are in camp, some of them with new head coaches, and few head coaches are in a more interesting situation than Cortland coach Tom Blumenauer. He is in his first training camp as the Red Dragons' head coach, and he's working with a team that won a national title just 20 months ago, but lost a well-loved and highly successful head coach in the offeseason. Plus, he's an Ithaca graduate. We talk to him about what he's seen in camp so far, what he's hoping to instill from a culture perspective, and what it's like returning to the Empire 8, where he played as a player. Few teams -- no team, in fact, according to our preseason All-America team -- should be happier to have a returning quarterback than the folks at UW-River Falls. Kaleb Blaha was hurt in the first game of the season last year for the Falcons and never returned to form, taking the "med red" of a medical hardship season or a medical redshirt. We talk with Kaleb, plus head coach Matt Walker, plus offensive coordinator Joe Matheson, about the expectations at River Falls this season, how fast and how hard they like to push their offense, and more. We also hear from a Division III football head coach on the topics of whether student-athletes come into camp in better shape than they used to, and we talk to a coach whose program is using technology to try to keep student-athletes from getting hurt in camp. This edition of the podcast is sponsored by GameStrat: The Most Reliable & Fastest In-Game Video Replay System on The Market. D-III football coaches should click here to learn more. Plus, if you're new to Division III football, we'll start off this podcast with a little primer about how things work and what to expect come playoff time. And we also talk about how crazy it was to try to select a preseason All-America team this year with all the turnover from having two senior classes and a lot of upward movement through the transfer portal. Mailbag topics include: Can Johns Hopkins finish 3-0 in their crazy opening stretch of the season? And if you had to name a rock song to define the 2025 Division III football season, what would it be? Hint: One of the answers is related to what the thumbnail image for this episode looks like! Plus, you'll need to stay to the bitter end to find out what someone thinks the next hot tailgate item will be for this fall. You won't want to miss it.
Breaking down the EWC results, including TheMongolZ win, Spirit & NAVI losing their first games, Vitality crumbling, and Falcons going some distances. Carl and Mike close out the show with final thoughts on the Falcons final 53-man roster and the official word of Kaleb McGary being placed on the injured reserves and reportedly set to miss the entire season. They also discuss why they have some reservation in how much Jalon Walker will be used to start the season, with Carl noting he believes the edge rusher will not be an every down guy.
Carl and Mike open up the show with thoughts on some of the players released by the Falcons as they started making roster cuts to get down to their final 53-man roster. As they discuss, they note to this point there were no surprising names or "wow" moments as announcements have been released in regards to players being cut. As their conversation continued, they did share thoughts on Younghoe Koo and why they still have some concerns about how consistent he can be this season.
Carl and Mike come back with some more Falcons talk and react to another cut as it was reported C.J. Henderson was released by the team as they continue with roster cuts. As they discuss, they agree it was going to be an uphill battle for Henderson as he was behind the eight ball as he was brought into camp late. They then get into a conversation and share thoughts on which team out of Georgia Tech, Georgia and the Falcons have the most to prove this season, with Mike believing the Yellow Jackets have to 'make the big leap', while Carl believes Falcons seven year playoff drought makes them the team with the most to prove.
Carl and Mike come back and get into some of the NFL headlines and players who have been released by their respective teams and the Saints naming Spencer Rattler their starter for their season opener, which leads them to a discussion on if New Orleans would potentially have a bad enough season that would put them in the mix to draft Arch Manning next season should the Texas quarterback decide to enter the NFL Draft after this season.
Carl and Mike come back and briefly discuss the Braves/MLB teams releasing their 2026 schedule in a lackluster way and on the same day as the NFL announcing player cuts and final 53-man roster. They then briefly discuss the Falcons and reports of Kaleb McGary being placed on IR. They then wrap the segment revisiting their conversation with Mike Griffith, who shared why he believes Kirby Smart must be held accountable for the struggles of Georgia's offense, to which both the guys are in agreement.
Carl and Mike get back to some more brief NFL talk as they react to the Browns announcing Dillon Gabriel as their back up quarterback which leads them to a conversation on why the Falcons have the best backup QB situation in the league and with the release of Easton Stick, there is no need for the Falcons to trade the veteran QB at all this season.
Carl and Mike are joined by Marc Raimondi as they discuss the Falcons setting their 53-man roster and which player moves were they most surprised with.
In the final hour of today's show, the guys hit the Falcons report, as we chat with ESPN's Marc Raimondi on the Falcons 53 man roster announcement. Grant McAuley joins in Around the Yard.
In the third hour of today's show, the guys hit the Dawg Report. Falcons place tackle Kaleb McGary season ending IR.
In the 2nd hour of today's show, the guys hit 4th and 1. We chat with Kennesaw State head football coach Jerry Mack.
In the first hour of today's show, the guys discuss the Falcons cuts that have begun trickling out this afternoon.
In this episode, the hosts delve into the NFC South, analyzing each team's prospects for the upcoming season. They discuss the struggles of the New Orleans Saints, the potential rise of the Carolina Panthers with Bryce Young, the Atlanta Falcons' strong offensive lineup, and the challenges facing the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with injuries and coaching changes. The conversation highlights the competitive nature of the division and the opportunities for each team to improve. 36:57 NFC South Overview: Saints and Panthers Analysis 48:43 Falcons Rising: A New Era Begins 53:25 Tampa Bay Buccaneers: The Baker Show 01:04:34 Division Predictions and Future Outlooks
