How can an academic bridge the gap between rigorous research and actionable insights for executives? Stephanie Woerner, of MIT's Center for Information Systems Research (CISR), offers a masterclass on this topic in our latest podcast episode. She reveals how her team tackles the tension between academia's slower pace and business's urgent demands by designing projects with rapid deliverables and executive-relevant outcomes. It's not just about publishing papers—it's about driving impact and transforming practices. Stephanie explains how CISR collaborates with its consortium of 75 corporate members to co-create research agendas that solve real-world problems. From exploring the impact of AI and data-driven decision-making to demystifying digital transformation, her frameworks make complex concepts accessible. Her advice? Listen to your audience, translate data into actionable insights, and focus on what drives performance—whether it's profitability, innovation, or customer experience. The conversation dives into the art of storytelling with data. Stephanie shares how visuals, like a simple two-by-two matrix, can illuminate business challenges and opportunities. By simplifying without oversimplifying, she equips leaders to move from confusion to clarity, making complex transformations manageable. With thought leadership positioned as a practice, Stephanie reflects on her journey from researcher to influencer. She underscores the importance of connecting with your audience, constantly iterating, and striving for impact over time. This is thought leadership in action—anticipating the future, separating signal from noise, and delivering the insights your audience needs just when they need them. Three Key Takeaways: Bridging Academia and Business: Stephanie Woerner highlights the importance of designing research to deliver actionable insights for executives. By structuring projects with shorter cycles and a focus on business relevance, her team ensures their work addresses urgent corporate challenges while maintaining academic rigor. The Power of Frameworks and Storytelling: Simplifying complex ideas into accessible frameworks, like two-by-two matrices, helps executives understand challenges and take decisive action. Effective storytelling with data transforms raw information into compelling, actionable insights.Audience-Centered Thought Leadership: Successful thought leadership requires deep listening and collaboration with your audience. Woerner emphasizes the value of co-creating research agendas and focusing on practical outcomes that align with what your audience urgently needs to know—or hasn't yet thought to ask. If you want to further explore the idea of using academic research to build your thought leadership, be sure to check out this video by Leveraging Thought Leadership founder and CEO Peter Winick.

Want to learn how to identify undiscovered stocks before the rest of the market does? Of course, you do - what else are you going to talk about at your next dinner party... Or at the pub over a lukewarm beer... Or around the office coffee machine? In this episode, Livewire's Ally Selby was joined by LSN Capital's Nick Sladen and Elston Asset Management's Justin Woerner for a deep dive into how investors can do exactly that. They share why investors, like you and I, may have an advantage in discovering mispriced stocks in the typically undercovered small and micro-cap arena, the screens they use to identify winning stocks, and one non-negotiable that every company that makes its way into their portfolios needs to possess. They also outline the risks investors should be aware of when hunting for gems in this area of the market, and whether it's worth investing in IPOs - because God knows, this anonymous writer has been burnt doing exactly that. And just to help you level up your dinner party/office/pub chat, we also asked Woerner and Sladen to name an under-the-radar stock they are buying today. You're welcome. Note: This episode was recorded on Wednesday 24 April 2024.
Atlanta Falcons Tight End Charlie Woerner speaks about returning to Georgia and being closer to family and friends, how he views himself in the Falcons offense, what he brings to the offense, what this year could be for Kyle Pitts, what his role will be within the offense, the expectation of a deep run for the Falcons this season, and already owning a house in Athens.
Tiffany, Mike and Beau close out the opening hour by continuing to react to the Atlanta Falcons signing free agent quarterback Kirk Cousins to a four-year $180 million dollar deal with $100 million dollars guaranteed, and reacting to the Falcons also signing former San Francisco 49ers tight end Charlie Woerner to a three-year $12 million dollar deal.

Do you dread looking in the mirror knowing a drained complexion will stare back at you? Don't you want to find the perfect recipe to get that glowing, youthful complexion we see sweeping social media? Turns out you don't need an extensive twelve step routine or the most popular face mask on the market. All you need is a little faith, lots of genuine support, and good ole' fashioned science! For all the ladies out there passionate about the beauty industry and how to best take care of ourselves, you might wanna sit down for this one! This week I had the pleasure of sitting down with the insightful and warm Daniela Woerner, a Spa Marketing Strategist and the founder of Addo Aesthetics! Daniela is no stranger to stress, especially life's ups and downs. Instead of following the path her family believed would make her successful, she pursued her passion: esthetician school. As her life grew and she bounced from place to place with her husband, Daniela craved stability in her service-based business. What she devised next was a new kind of systemized success… Her personal setbacks are what inspired her to launch her business in 2014. Her mission is to transform overworked estheticians and spa industry workers into successful business owners. She even invests in giving back to the beauty community by making funding contributions to help other women in aesthetics, skincare, and beauty achieve their dream. On this week's IHML Show episode Daniela and I deep dive into what you should really look for in skincare, why team systems are crucial for business, and what you can do to give back to your community. Yes, this may be our most eclectic episode yet! But there are some common themes (we promise). This episode is all about becoming your best self, feeling good in your own skin, and receiving the financial abundance you deserve. You didn't choose your passion to make a base income… you're meant to inspire you to the world, create new ways of thinking, and encourage others to shine from the inside out! So what are you waiting for? Get to building that dream-worthy business and life, it's worth it! In This Episode: [0:31] Daniela divulges how her early life and career helped shape the life of her dreams today! [3:25] The roadblocks that Daniela faced as she moved into the entrepreneurial space. [6:59] Tune in to hear Daniela share how building her dream team grew her business! [10:52] Here's why you don't have to be the best at everything according to Daniela… [14:25] For all of you years deep in your business, here's how you can start leveling up your systems for success! [20:34] Daniela shares everything you need to know about taking care of your skin— and what misconceptions to avoid! [29:37] Looking to transform your skin? Check out Daniela's go-to skincare products! [32:10] Skincare is serious business, so here's how to find somebody you can trust to guide you. [34:18] Organic versus non-organic: what should you be using? Listen to find out… [39:42] Daniela discusses her passion to create funding for other female entrepreneurs (and why providing opportunity helps elevate the beauty industry as a whole)! [45:14] So, what does Daniela truly believe can inspire us to create a life better than our dreams? Hear what she has to say! Quotes “A big learning curve [for me] is just understanding, not my value per hour, but the value of the problem that I'm solving for that company or the amount of money that they're going to make based off of the advice and insight that I'm giving and pricing based on that, that was huge!” — Daniela Woerner “I think that both sides [online business or brick and mortar businesses] have things that they're really good at and things they excel at. And I think the people that really win are the ones that understand how to capitalize on the things that work really well in brick and mortar and the things that work really well in online [spaces].” — Daniela Woerner “So for systems, your business is always growing and evolving. Every time a problem happens that I like to call an area of opportunity; you found an area of opportunity that you can systemize.” — Daniela Woerner “Skincare is what you're doing at home every single day. So when someone comes to us, an esthetician, a service provider, we're like your trainer, right? We're your trainer at the gym. You're coming to us. We're gonna do your treatments, that's your like hardcore workout. But the skin care that you're using at home is your healthy diet. So if you go and work out at the gym every day but you're eating fast food, you're not gonna get the exact results that you want. It's gonna be good, but you may still have some issues.” — Daniela Woerner (check time stamps 22:54 to 23:54) “We've [Addo Aesthetics] always focused on elevating the spa industry as a whole. And we do that through high quality content. We focus on teaching systems, teaching ways to operate a real business, like really focusing on that.” — Daniela Woerner “It truly is women helping women rise in entrepreneurship because as women, we impact in a different way than men. We support charities in a bigger way, we support one another. Just us being in our mastermind, we have a peer formed mastermind. And the help and support that goes on in that space is beautiful to see. And I want to spread that and recreate that as much as possible because women really are incredible beings.” — Daniela Woerner ( Links & Resources Follow the I Heart My Life Show on Apple Podcasts https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/i-heart-my-life-show/id1569047758 Subscribe to the I Heart My Life Show on Spotify https://open.spotify.com/show/1Zw6fI37FrfVjZMXlMiZZ6 Connect with Emily: Emily Williams Website https://emilywilliams.com/ Emily on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/emilywilliams/ I Heart My Life Website https://www.iheartmylife.com/ I Heart My Life on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/iheartmylife/ I Heart My Life on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/iheartmylifenow I Heart My Life on LinkedIn https://www.linkedin.com/company/i-heart-my-life/ Join the IHML community to receive exclusive announcements and tips. https://www.iheartmylife.com/newsletter Email: info@iheartmylife.com Connect with Daniela Daniela's Website https://www.addoaesthetics.com Follow Daniela on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/addoaesthetics/ Listen to Daniela's Spa Marketing Made Easy podcast https://www.addoaesthetics.com/blog

Thanks for tuning into another episode of The Brave Table with today's guest, Daniela Woerner. Daniela is the CEO of Addo Aesthetics, where she coaches spa owners and aestheticians on marketing tactics and retail sales strategy. She's also the host of the Spa Marketing Made Easy podcast, a mama of 2, and a military wife to her husband, Kyle. In this conversation, Daniela bravely cracks open her heart to share the story of losing her dad suddenly, starting fresh in Hawaii, meeting her first husband, going through a divorce, and how she found love once again. What you'll get out of this episode… How to use grief as a way to reinvent yourself and how to hold space for others who might be grieving differently than you Being brave in deeply listening to your intuition and surrendering to everything life brings your way Having the bravery to honor and accept every season of life you enter Finding the gifts in each person who enters your life, even when their presence is not meant to be forever Reframing the concept of divorce as an accomplishment and a lesson, rather than a failure How to take life one moment at a time and stay radically present Learning how to trust divine timing and that you'll always be in the right place, at the right time Knowing yourself, being in tune with your needs, and why it's crucial to be clear on what you want How to know when it's time to leave a relationship Daniela was a senior in high school when she got a spiritual gut instinct that her father would soon pass away, despite him being only 44 years old. Two days later, she came home from school and heard ambulance sirens in the distance and knew they were heading for her house. What followed was a time of deep grieving for Daniela and her family, who all processed her father's passing differently. She was supposed to go away to college in the fall but had to abandon her plans to stay in town for a court case regarding the medical malpractice that resulted in her father's death. Her family eventually came back together and decided they needed a fresh start. So, they left the mainland US for a new chapter in Hawaii, where they could focus on healing the pain they experienced from such a sudden loss. In Hawaii, Daniela met her first husband, Alessio, who provided her with just what she needed in that season: joy, fun, and laughter. After 9 years of marriage, they realized they wanted different things and parted ways with utmost love and admiration for one another. Daniela decided to leave Maui and felt she was supposed to be in either New York, Boston, or Washington DC (without ever having lived in any of these cities)! Another spiritual download, btw! In a serendipitous meeting, she found her now-husband Kyle, who had also lived in Hawaii and was now based in Boston (again, her intuition nailed it). Today, Daniela and Kyle have two kids, she has a thriving business, and she knows she is exactly where she's meant to be. Daniela's story is a lesson in how there are no mistakes in life; everything that happens to you is a part of your divine plan.
