A successful career in engineering, and also in business as a VP at AVCON, INC, Rick Baldocchi has a great love and passion for mission work. This has resulted in a new outreach, a company he founded called Agua Viva Serves, which provides wells that bring clean water to many areas in Costa Rica. It was a mission trip to this region about 16 years ago that exposed such a great need for clean, safe water. Rick was compelled to do something, and he shares that story on this podcast.

Desde que empezó la crisis del Covid-19 muchos de nosotros que trabajamos en el sector AV estamos realmente preocupados pues es uno, sino EL sector que mas pronto ha caído y que más tarde se va a recuperar y muchas personas de este colectivo son autónomos, empezando por muchísimos técnicos que están en régimen autónomo y también muchos empresarios con empresas, algunas grandes y muchas pequeñas . Todos ellos se enfrentan a muchas dudas dada la ambigüedad de la información que se está recibiendo desde el gobierno. Durante este periodo, casi todos los días vemos en Televisión u oímos en radio a Lorenzo Amor, presidente de ATA, la Federación de asociaciones de trabajadores autónomos, el cual está en constante contacto con las diferentes fuerzas políticas, incluido el gobierno, presionando todos los días para que no se olviden de los autónomos. Por eso, desde Avify, se nos ocurrió la idea de llamarle a participar en una mesa redonda virtual con una representación de este colectivo formada por asociaciones de técnicos y empresas para que Don Lorenzo Amor oyera de viva voz las preocupaciones de todo el sector. Aunque no es una escucha fácil el episodio, si te dedicas a este mundo, seas o no autónomo, te aconsejo que continúes en este episodio especial, pues hay información relevante que te puede interesar ya que la conversación no solo fue sobre el autónomo sino que se abordaron otras diferentes preocupaciones más generales del sector. El resultado ha sido muy interesante, al principio éramos algo mas de 300 pero llegamos a mas de 400 personas registradas durante el desarrollo del evento y si bien es verdad que no todas pudieron quedarse todo el rato hubo un gran número que aguanto toda la jornada con muchas preguntas que nos tuvieron activos durante más de hora y media.

This week on Player Attack, we're off to AVCon to meet interesting people! AVCon is Adelaide's Anime and Video Games Festival, an annual gathering that brings the South Australian community together to celebrate what makes them happy. Each year, an assortment of guests are also invited, drawn from across the realms of pop culture - and it's difficult to tell who has more fun, the attendees or the VIPs! This year, we caught up with special AVCon guest Steve Downes - you might not recognise his face, but the moment he opens his voice, you'll know exactly who he is. A Los Angeles disc jockey for the better part of 40 years, he says his career suddenly skyrocketed (literally) when he was hand-picked for the role of Spartan John-117... that is, Master Chief, from the Halo series. We also spent some time with one of the other guests in town for AVCon - Chris Pope, known to his fans as the Space Pope. His childhood dream was to become a game developer at Sierra, working on games like Space Quest. Fast-forward a few years, and even though Sierra is long gone, the Space Pope has teamed up with two of the original developers to create Space Venture - a spiritual successor to the series. Did we mention he also held a world record for playing Pac-Man? So this week is another special episode, which focuses on the Adelaide AVcon (anime and video game convention). Brad was there for the whole weekend and brings us this compilation of interviews from the various traders, indie game developers, Street Fighters and convention organisers.
