What changes when you see yourself and others through a Loving gaze and learn more of who you truly are? Everything changes. In this episode you will learn to use the intelligence of your heart to create the right conditions for healing not only ourselves, but the failing systems we are a part of. What would a loving politics look like? A loving education system? A loving medicine? Join Theosophist Benjamin W. Decker and Author/Speaker Danielle LaPorte to also discuss:
Everywhere you look, people in all walks of life are “going minimalist” and getting rid of their possessions. Yet as exciting as it can be to throw out half of your belongings, does it really bring happiness? As Light Watkins says: “If you're unhappy now, becoming a minimalist isn't likely to change that… unless you do the inner work to cultivate happiness on the inside.” Join Theosophist Benjamin W. Decker and Author/Meditation Teacher/Public Speaker Light Watkins to discuss:
"The power of acting is really sacred. Acting is a way to reveal back to human beings, the human condition. It's the heart of empathy. This is why I always say I'm going to go to Congress and teach everybody how to act. Can you imagine these congressmen and women? They would have to look opposite their enemy, and really take in another human being."- Anthony Meindl on The Modern Spirituality Show Join Theosophist Benjamin W. Decker and Acting Coach/Director Anthony Meindl for a riveting dialogue including the following:
"In acting, when you play villains, rule number one, if you judge your character, if you call a "villain" a villain, you have just lost yourself that role. The second that you judge what you are choosing for that character, you ruin the truth and the authenticity of what an individual who expresses like that, feels.""The process that an actor goes through is almost the exact same thing as a spiritual awakening. When you look at acting and a spiritual awakening, they become synonymous."- Actress AnnaLynne McCord on The Modern Spirituality ShowJoin Theosophist Benjamin W. Decker and his longtime friend, Actress/Activist AnnaLynne McCord, as they discuss the following topics including:
"When you're going through a change, a transition, facing a big challenge, or whether you're triggered, angry, in grief, heartbroken, or you're moving across town, when we take those moments, and we walk that path out through the guidance of a meditation, we actually then have the alchemy of all that energy. The key in those meditations, is that you're guided into realizing that you have all that energy, and by changing your relationship to it, now it becomes currency."- Benjamin W. The world floods us with messages about who we should be in order to thrive in this world, but Human Design teaches us that the same advice is not correct for everyone. The road to being your happiest, most successful self is one that is totally unique to you. Archetypes can serve as an invaluable tool on our journey of spiritual awakening. When we learn more about ourselves and how we are designed, we can explore how we are truly meant to operate. In this episode, Ben Decker and Elton Anderson Jr. discuss the four Human Design types (Projector, Generator, Manifestor and Reflector). Elton reads Ben's chart and reveals Ben's type is Projector, along with President Barack Obama and celebrity Kris Jenner. More about Elton Anderson Jr. Elton's passion for creativity was the foundation for a very successful photography career involving high concept photo shoots for many celebrities including “Puff Daddy” Combs, Issa Rae, Tiffany Haddish, Nas and Kendrick Lamar. He also traveled the world to 81 different countries and was the TV host of popular travel show, but he ended up feeling unfulfilled and completely inauthentic. He knew deep inside of him lay a much greater purpose and he was determined to figure out what that was. He gave away EVERYTHING and went on a year long journey through Brazil, Africa, Southeast Asia and India to learn the art of letting go. Just 9 days into his first leg, he ended up in a Brazilian hospital fighting for his life as he battled malaria. He made a promise to God that if he lived, he would dedicate his life towards bettering himself and the lives of others. He finally discovered that true abundance is not found in material things or "status", but instead true abundance is within us all. He is passionate about sharing Human Design with the world and how it helped him and many others design the life of their dreams. There's something really cool about the fact that you are both in the full awareness of the indigenous and native spiritual practices and traditions around it, and being able to infuse some of what is appropriate, into an actual model, that's really, in a lot of ways, a better fit. You're making it a better fit for the average American."- Benjamin W. This week your host Ben Decker welcomes Jeffrey Segal onto the show. Jeffrey is the author of The Tiny Book of Big Manifesting. He's the founder of the Mystic Journey metaphysical bookstore and the Mystic Journey Crystal Gallery, which sells some of the greatest, most beautiful crystal specimens we've ever seen. Learn more about Jeffrey's own personal journey as he recounts his manifestation experiences going from a lawyer to bookstore owner, to crystal gallery owner, to life coach and most recently, a newly published author. He also shares how he actually experienced what turned out to be a needed encounter with cancer, that was resolved through natural healing. "One of the things that I work with people on in my life coaching sessions is scarcity mentality, and transforming that into a mentality that the universe will provide. To really create what one wants in their life, it's super important to not be moving forward in fear of scarcity, whether it's monetary, or love, or whatever it may be, and begin to develop, and then nurture and blossom, this feeling that the universe is there is there to provide."- Jeffrey Segal on The Modern Spirituality Show“When it comes to modern spirituality, the exploration of natural healing modalities, a new way of looking at religion and religious practices, spiritual and religious study, community or exploration of the intuition, it's about a return to our nature. It's a return to the natural way of engaging with ourselves and each other. So it's really cool to see that you are facilitating that and holding so much space and such a valuable platform for so many other teachers and that you're actually coaching them."- Ben Decker to Jeffrey Segal on The Modern Spirituality ShowBig thanks to our sponsor Open for bringing you this episode. Have you ever wondered if spirituality and politics ever could or should mix? In this episode, you will hear directly from LA City Councilmember Mike Bonin on the matter in a historically defining moment. Two weeks ago, a secretly recorded conversation about redistricting, made international headlines, which included racial slurs about Bonin's adopted son. "I knew it [the recording] was a lot bigger than my son. It was dripping with ugly, deliberate, anti-black racism," Bonin said.“I've had a couple different things that have really shaped my perspective on public service and shaped my spirituality. The thing that I get from the experience of getting sober 27 years ago, is that I have absolute, just unequivocal faith, that profound change is possible - in people, in the city, even in our broken politics, I have seen myself transform from someone unrecognizable, to where I am today. I have seen people that society has written off, just transform themselves into model parents, people I look up to. My sobriety has been a big part of my spiritual journey.”- Councilmember Mike Bonin on The Modern Spirituality Show“What I love so much about your political legacy is that you read as one of the people that really tried and really made a difference for a lot of people. You made a difference in actual individual people's lives.”- Author Ben Decker to Councilmember Mike Bonin on The Modern Spirituality ShowBig thanks to our sponsor Open for bringing you this episode. This week Ben brings Rythmia Life Advancement Center's Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Jeff McNairy, Psy.D., M.P.H. onto the show. Jeff has been working in the health care field for 25 years. He has worked in a variety of medical environments and seen the struggle individuals have when actually trying to heal. The current Western system of heath care is deficient in healing the population. It is more concerned with managing symptoms and using external sources for “change.” Through Dr. McNairy's intense experience with the most desperate patient populations (addiction, acute mental health, and trauma), he has seen that the only real healing can come from within.Rythmia: https://rythmia.com Website:https://www.jeffmcnairy.com/ Instagram:https://www.instagram.com/rythmia_/https://www.instagram.com/drjeffmcnairy/Press:https://finance.yahoo.com/news/rythmia-points-societys-plant-medicine-160000005.htmlhttps://onken.co/dr-jeff-mcnairy-plant-medicine/Book a trip to Rythmia October 9th - 16th hosted by Ben Decker:https://rythmia.link/deckerevent Ben Decker, The Unplug App & The Modern Spirituality Podcast in The New York Times: https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2022/03/30/well/guided-meditations.html Develop Your Meditation Practice with books by Ben Decker: Modern Spirituality: A Guide to the Heart of Mindfulness, Meditation, and the Art of Healing https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1647398150/ref=dbs_a_def_rwt_hsch_vapi_tpbk_p1_i2 Practical Meditation for Beginners: 10 Days to a Happier, Calmer Youhttps://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1641520256/ref=dbs_a_def_rwt_hsch_vapi_tpbk_p1_i0 Daily Mindfulness: 365 Exercises to Deepen Your Practice and Find Peacehttps://www.amazon.com/Daily-Mindfulness-Exercises-Deepen-Practice/dp/164739192X/ref=tmm_pap_swatch_0?_encoding=UTF8&qid=&sr= Meditations on Christ: A 5-Minute Guided Journal for Christianshttps://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1646118065/ref=dbs_a_def_rwt_hsch_vapi_tpbk_p1_i3Affiliate of The Modern Spirituality Podcast:

She has a rich, unique spiritual background that sets her apart from the majority of spiritual teachers in the online space. In this episode, we discuss intuition and how it impacts our lives, the value in difficult experiences, how to regulate our nervous system, inner child work, trauma, meditation, and navigating the current spiritual landscape. I have no doubt you'll have many new and interesting takeaways from this interview! In the episode, Alexandra shares that she is in a period of transition, and she has since found alignment with Christianity. With one of my clients, I sometimes would say before the sessions, are you excited? He used to say, yes, I'm excited. Then we did a mindfulness exercise where we would say, instead of identifying with our negative emotions, we would say that they're present. For example, frustration is present, impatience is present. My client now says, yes, there is excitement. It gives that breathing room so you can be an observer of your own life. Thoughts on Breathing Breathing is everything. It is the key anchor. What I love about it is this notion that as we breathe in, we taking in pranic energy, life force energy that animates the body. Then we're releasing it back to its source. This idea that when we look into each other's eyes, we're breathing from that same source of life force energy. Decker App: n/a Bullying Story In high school, I was so insecure and I didn't realize how insecure I was until I became secure a long time later. I was also navigating a challenging identity crisis around religion and my sexuality, puberty, and the cosmos, all at once. I went to three high schools in four years and my family moved around a lot. I had endured some trauma as a child so I was in therapy as a teen but I never quite felt I could trust my therapist. I was also in the priesthood and sort of felt like I was living multiple lives sort of like I had created almost a mild sense of dissociative identity disorder where I was sort of living these different personalities. None of them were really even me. They were me playing out something that I had seen or I thought I was supposed to do so people would like me. A memory that completely evaporated into the past and I completely forgot about was resurfaced when an old friend of mine reached out and said, you did something when we were in tenth grade and it really hurt me. What happened was, a friend of mine, a young woman I was going to school and church with, there was a rumor that she made out with this guy. I said, I heard that you and so and so were making out at the football game. She said no and I said, are you sure? You don't have to lie to us. She said, no, that didn't happen. After that, I made a couple jokes about it. One of the important things that we do in mindfulness is start to experience things from another person's perspective. That's why the phrase is called, 'Casting spells,' because you're spelling things into reality. But when you use airy-fairy language or talk about vibrational quantum nonsense, you turn off people. You have to meet people where they're at and demystify the mysticism because science is catching up with what the ancients knew. If you can find ways to transform that into being more unrelatable, that will help so many people on their wellness journeys." - Jennifer Sodini "My biggest heart intention is to find a space and to create experience and content that makes people feel at one with everything and everyone. I want to help people be able to converse with somebody that maybe they perceive as their opposite with an open heart. I want to allow people to be who they are without trying to expect anything more." - Jennifer Sodini "We're in an interesting time where so many of us don't even know what reconnecting to our soul means. We don't even know that we have a soul as spiritual beings and discovering that is so important. When we realize that, we find out that we're so much bigger, important, and powerful than we've ever realized." - Jennifer Sodini "Forgiving ourselves is a constant process but would you treat a child the same way that you treat yourself? Would you speak to a child with such critical, harsh words? This child is your core essence and pure being so don't hurt, harm, or speak to your inner child with such negative words." - Jennifer Sodini Links From Today's Show Jennifer Sodini Facebook Twitter Instagram WITMA Live Facebook Instagram Evolve + Ascend Facebook Twitter Instagram YouTube Amenti Oracle: Feather Heart Deck and Guidebook 2012 Time for Change Trailer Abraham-Hicks Publications - Law of Attraction Official Site They Live Aleister Crowley Letting Go: The Pathway of Surrender by David R.
