Joe Jensen sits down with Jonathan Berryhill, a North Alabama broker, land investor, and author of Warrior to Wealth, to unpack a story built from pressure, discipline, and reinvention. Jonathan shares how he went from military and law enforcement into entrepreneurship, rebuilding his marriage, mindset, and identity brick by brick. The conversation centers on his "warrior" framework, not as hype, but as a practical approach to creating structure, vision, and balance across faith, family, health, and finances, and how those principles became the foundation for his upcoming book. On the investing side, Jonathan breaks down why he prefers land over houses: fewer headaches, no structures deteriorating while you wait, and strong upside when you buy larger tracts and subdivide into smaller lots buyers can actually afford. He explains the basics of getting started, why road frontage matters, how county restrictions affect parceling, and why partnering with a strong land-focused agent can accelerate deal flow. The episode closes with Jonathan's emphasis on financial freedom, intentional living, and his reminder that changing your life starts with changing your mindset and taking action. Deep in the heart of Danville, Virginia, right on the North Carolina border, lies a crossing that locals have feared for generations. Officially known as Berry Hill Bridge, its darker nickname Satan's Bridge is well-earned. This isn't just a bridge; it's the center of a "triple threat" of Appalachian hauntings, flanked by the reality-bending Gravity Hill and the desolate ruins of the Witch's House. In this episode, we explore the heavy, unnatural atmosphere of Berry Hill Road. We dive into the history of occult rumors, ritualistic graffiti, and the legendary entities said to stalk the Dan River banks—from the Headless Woman searching for her lantern to the glowing gaze of "Old Red Eye."The true terror, however, comes from eight authentic listener-submitted stories that prove the bridge is very much active today:The Fog Man (1964): A terrifying encounter where a materialized figure attempted to board a young couple's roadster. The Bipedal "Deer": A shocking 7.5-foot-tall cryptid sighting that defies biological explanation. The Ghost Racer: Echoes of a fatal crash that still roar through the pitch-black night. The Horse Mask Figure: A modern, deeply unsettling encounter with a figure standing in the middle of the bridge. The Sunroof Whispers: A group of friends whose trip past the bridge resulted in unexplained physical illness and disembodied voices. From phantom cries to electronic failures and spectral photography, we uncover why Berry Hill Bridge remains one of the most notorious paranormal hotspots in the region.Have your own story? Brent Maher joins me on the show today to talk about his incredible career as a producer, engineer and songwriter. This is Part 1 of our conversation, and part 2 will come out a week from today.Brent is one of the few 1st generation of Nashville recording studio icons still active and working in town. Some of his extensive credits including recording “Proud Mary” for Ike & Tina Turner, “Dance to the Music” by Sly & The Family Stone and “Age of Aquarius” by the 5th dimension, not to mention producing every Judds record. His career began at Fred Foster Sound, which was the studio built by Sam Phillips. He learned and worked for years as an assistant to Bill Porter, one of the greatest engineers of all time. From the early 60's, they were working on albums for Roy Orbison, The Everly Brothers, Chet Atkins and many more. Brent followed Porter to Las Vegas, where they set up shop and that's where Brent started his producing and songwriting career, with the first song he ever wrote being recorded by Ike & Tina. Brent eventually moved back to Nashville, where he found the Judds, produced all of their huge records and redefined country music in the 80's. He was instrumental in bringing the recording scene to Berry Hill, where he helped design and build Creative Workshop and what eventually became Blackbird Studios. Brent continues to work at his studio in Berry Hill today with artists like Rob Ickes & Trey Hensley, Taj Mahal, as well as his latest project “Night of the Orphan Train” - which is a musical novel. We get into all of these facets of his stunning career in this 2-part episode.Enjoy my conversation with Brent Maher! This season is brought to you by our main sponsors Larivée Guitars, Audeze, Izotope, FabFilter, and Chase Bliss. Hello and welcome to the first officially released episode of 2026! I've got a great conversation with Jennifer Berryhill to share with you today that I think is very timely with the new year. Before jumping into that conversation, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on the start of this new year. If you happened to listen to the last episode, you'll know that there I reflected on the end of 2025. While I am a full believer that every day, every moment, really, is a chance to begin again, I do find something special about the ending and beginning of years. We mark a lot in our lives by years… birthdays, anniversaries, budgets, management cycles, zodiac signs!Back in 2014, I was introduced the idea of having a word for the year from my dear friend, Amy Cupic. My word then was curiosity, as I knew it would serve as a great reminder for me to be curious as I experienced moving from the Philippines to Saudi Arabia. This year, 2026, my word is Space. For me it serves as a reminder to take up space in the world, to create and step into spaces that will bring me joy and fulfillment. And to be intentional about the spaces in my life, both external and internal. You'll hear more about my plans in the podcast (all the text wouldn't fit here!)So, that's a little bit of what my 2026 is starting off focused on. I hope that you take some time to reflect on what you want out of this year. Maybe it's not shaving your head, but what might you do in support of others you love? Even if it's a little uncomfortable, maybe it's worth the effort of pushing through the fear. And maybe it's not camping and rock climbing for 50 days, but what might you do to celebrate life and living and loving. Life is precious and it's a gift. I know too many whose lives have been cut short and so I recommit to living life with an awareness that it's a gift and that each day I have is an opportunity to extend love to those around me, and to look for ways to make life less difficult for each other.Thank you so much for being part of my journey by listening to the Make Life Less Difficult podcast. ABOUT THIS EPISODE: This season, we're interviewing the incredible members of WYM who make up our board, moderators team, and conference team! This week we are chatting with Jess and how her views of inclusion ministry have changed. In this episode we emphasize the importance of creating organic, everyday opportunities for inclusion rather than relying solely on structured programs.ABOUT JESS: Jess Berryhill serves as the Student and Disability Minister at Mt. Pleasant Church in Terre Haute, IN. In that role, she walks alongside and serves teenagers as well as individuals with disabilities. Since founding Grace Unlimited Disability Ministry in 2015, the program has grown to serve over hundred individuals each week and houses holistic programming that extends beyond the walls of the church. This approach currently includes a dating and relationships class, a mental health group, and several weekly gatherings. Through conversations with friends in the program, Jess heard young adults with disabilities repeatedly share that they wanted to live on their own and strive towards independence. Out of those conversations, Terre Haute Friendship House was born in 2019. It is an affordable housing model that allows college students and young adults with disabilities to live in community. Residents live together as roommates. It operates as a launchpad into independent living. Jess serves as the Executive Director and currently resides there as the “house mom” with her dog, Cooper. “By creating this barrier to rabies between wildlife, pets, and people, it's not just about the well-being of the cats—it's about the well-being of the community.” This episode is sponsored-in-part by Maddie's Fund, The Community Cat Clinic, and the Whisker Tracker App. In this episode of the Community Cats Podcast, host Stacy LeBaron sits down with Dr. Bob Weedon, an expert in veterinary public health and a leading advocate for Trap-Neuter-Vaccinate-Return (TNVR) programs. Dr. Weedon shares insights into how TNVR programs are essential for managing cat populations and offer critical public health benefits. By vaccinating community cats, TNVR efforts create a vital “barrier” against diseases like rabies, protecting pets and humans. Dr. Weedon explains how public health officials can embrace TNVR as a community health strategy, emphasizing the power of collaboration between local governments, public health departments, and animal advocates. The conversation ventures into the science behind rabies immunity, debunking misconceptions about cat-related diseases like toxoplasmosis, and why cat advocates should focus on reducing misinformation. Dr. Weedon also gives a sneak peek into potential breakthroughs in non-surgical sterilization techniques, which could revolutionize community cat management. Whether you're a cat advocate, public health professional, or just interested in animal welfare, this episode sheds light on the multi-layered impact of TNVR programs on communities nationwide.
