Welcome to Cyrus Says! The Mehta Boys: A Heartfelt Tale of Family, Cricket & Parsi Culture with Boman Irani & Cyrus Broacha "The Mehta Boys" promises a rollercoaster of emotions as Amay, a young architect, navigates 48 tumultuous hours with his estranged father, blending humor and heartache. The podcast subtly weaves in cricket legends Sunil Gavaskar and Farokh Engineer, sparking debates on the "Real Parsi Hero"—a nod to Boman Irani’s iconic role as Engineer in ’83 and a nostalgic anecdote where Engineer once took him to Old Manchester. Behind-the-scenes gems include Boman’s and his childhood cricket saga with Eknath Solkar, Their chemistry shines beyond The Mehta Boys—revisiting 2009’s 99 and Fruit and Nut. At the 2025 Kala Ghoda Festival, the duo bonded over chai and Parsi nostalgia, while Boman paid tribute to Regal Cinema’s Aslam, the projectionist who fueled his film passion. Perfect for fans of cultural comedies and cricket lore, The Mehta Boys blends generational clashes, Parsi humor, and iconic Mumbai landmarks—a tribute to Kunal Vijayakar, family, food, and the chaos that binds us. Boman cherishes working with Pawan Kalyan for his humility. As for “I Am Not Bajirao,” he’d cast fresh faces but keep the soul intact—just like Parsis preserve their custard recipes! Directed by Madhur Bhandarkar, a filmmaker renowned for his commitment to realism in an era dominated by the fantastical elements of commercial cinema, "Page 3" offers a stark contrast to the usual song and dance of Bollywood, transporting us to the less seen, often darker, realities that lurk beneath the surface of pageantry.

Ravindar Fights: Peter Heins Director of Photography: Prasad Murella Editing: Praveen Pudi Written & Directed by: Trivikram Srinivas Producer: BVSN Prasad Release date: 27 September 2013 Writing/Direction: So basically by the 11th minute you get to know the story of the movie and the point, Trivikram establishes it. Trivikram is my favorite writer in Telugu cinema and I aspire to be like him and I'm a huge fan of his writing because logically, they always have a proper set up and payoff. Like in the beginning you're wondering who kidnapped Samantha and it's revealed be Brahmi. But this movie actually feels overwritten and as a result, it gives an underwhelming feeling. At the time it released, the movie seemed so good due to Trivikram's direction and writing particularly emotional scenes and entertainment. 10 years later, the emotional scenes work but the entertainment has not aged well at all, giving the movie just an average feeling, This is honestly the worst feeling you have for a movie but can't deny what you saw. The movie's main story is Gautham has to bring back his aunt. Main conflict point. Trivikram's style of writing always has multiple subplots going on parallel with main story. And it;s same Trivkkram template of a guy posing as somebody else and solving all the problems in the house. If you think about it Athadu is the same template but that movie is a masterpiece writing and direction and technical wise. Attartiniki Daredi follows the same template but here it's an ultra rich dude who's trying to solve his family issues. So not only does he have to bring back his aunt, he has to Now it is upto him to make a chink in his aunt's steely armor, untangle the tangled lives of his cousins and their marriages, pick one for himself, protect his aunt's family from unscrupulous businessmen, and then deal with baddham Bhaskar. All of these subplots go on within the movie to provide entertainment. Yet I felt the only scene that worked was the elevation and warning scene where PK beats up Posani to get the hotel contract back. The elevation here is goosebumps and I felt was the best scene in the movie. Then in 2nd half Sidhappa Naidu track is introduced for another half of conflict and then is Brahmi is brought in. But it just didnt give that feeling of a complete amazing entertainer like the first time. It's just average like strictly ok in present day. Mainly because the romantic track is worst, neither of them have any chemistry with Pawan Kalyan, bava maradalu track gives irritation and then PK is slapping his assistant or anybody else the entire movie like Ali or Brahmi. Brahmi track is actually savior in the 2nd half because the rest of it is so flat. Interval and climax twist work very well due to the sensible emotional scenes but other than that, nothing else besides some dialogues that are really good. There is also a lot of athi scenes in the movie such as jeep chase scene it falls in the water and then other jeeps bump into that and it reaches land, Samantha slipping and getting memory loss, Ali falling on that spiky thing on the car, glasses fight, interval chase, and then climax buying out an entire train station for a meeting. Direction by Trivikram is ok. I think due to the fact that it's not his best written work or directed work it feels that way. But some dialogues and scenes are brilliantly written like the warning scene, interval, climax twist, and Brahmi scenes.

Abbas and Urjita are joined by writer, actor and spoken word artist Sainee Raj to discuss the 2006 reboot of 'Don' starring Shah Rukh Khan and directed by Farhan Akhtar. Topics discussed include: Farhan's collaboration with his father Javed Akhtar who had co-written the original, does the 'Vijay' character feel out of place in this slick atmosphere? Does SRK pull it off? How good is Boman Irani and does this film do justice to Roma's character? All this and more. Johnny: PK directorial debut, couldn't even finish it, but as usual Ramana Gogula did his job, when I was a kid Naaraku Naraazu Annayya was a rage. Ee Reyi Theeyanadi is also a classic. Bangaram: Directed by Tamil fame Dharani and I like Tamil directors but they always stamp their paithyam all over Telugu films. An underage girl gets married or some shit, and then villain only says one thing aa mate Nuvvu yenduku seputhunnav, aa mate Nuvvu seppakoodadu, then in interval he screams and and the earth shatters, gets on a buffalo and rides it and interval card. Superstar composer Vidyasagar much like Mani Sharma was for Mahesh Babu, made Vijay's musical career, the only person who did his job properly. Jai Shambho and Egire Chilakamma are still bangers. Puli: SJ Suryah paithyam, hero intro is so trolly worthy, Manoj Bajpai is always shouting for no reason and looks like a joker with white mustache and goatee, one love BGM entire movie, so badly written and directed, karthavayaniki meere devudulu, shouting for no reason, and then they're in Hyd one scene and then next scene Malaysia. No sync at all. Climax is highlight when Pawan kalayn is getting zapped and screams amma. His mom screams and then PK tears becoming an earthquake and too fan at the same time. Huge wind blows and everybody goes flying. Sardaar Gabbar Singh: Pk fans said maa Anna nadichosthe chaalu, well he walked and delivered an utter flop. Literally does everything and sways on wooden horses in middle of the street, dances for no reason with his red scarf, and the comedy with Brahmi is so bad. DSP is the only person who did his job: Tauba Taub, Nee Cheppkallu, and O Pilla Subhanallah are good. Otherwise another mark rod with story and screenplay by PK. Sangeet scene is an insult to Antyakshari scene from the first movie. Also Sampath Nandi was the director at first and was attached for 2 years until he got replaced by Bobby. Rest is history. Katamarayudu: Already dubbed Veeram into telugu as Veeruduokkade and it didn't run, PK made the same movie again wit Shruthi Hassan and Siva Balaji, AJay, Kamal Kamaraju, and Venu Madhav said he was giving a comeback with the movie but I guess they deleted his scenes. First scene he stomps and a jeep goes flying into the air, cringe comedy, PK look is so bad, and comedy is awful. Just a very outdated movie, Agnythaavasi: Really don't want to slander Trivikram, but it had the potential for e great film with the storyline but Trivikram did everything but that. Said we will see nata viswaroopam. It backfired so badly, Heroines were worst and the tactics Pawan Kalyan uses to romance both of them are so bad. Hard to believe the movie turned out that bad. That too a 25th movie. Nice production values were the only good thing. A good album went to waste and theyre so bad on screen. No comedy, no story, basically no entertainment. I was supposed to watch it but thankfully escaped. Vakeel Saab: I'm not woke at all and I was hyped to see PK back after 3 years gap. But the movie was so badly directed by Venu Sriram. Not a single scene had any proper impact or anything. All I liked was PK, the fights and the BGM specifically the train one but the court scenes seemed like a parody to me and it was more like a fish market more than anything. Got a headache. DJ:Allu Arjun stated its harder to make DJ than it is to make titanic because telugu cinema makes multi genre films. Silly plot, Subbaraju worst comedy, and zero logic, Oh bhasya he says it everytime and comedy is somewhat funny but movie makes no sense. Allu Arjun fans claim he did a better job than NTR in Adhurs. NTR in Adhurs is an iconic performance. Allu Arjun is a great actor but he didn't suit this role at all. Felt forced and not natural like NTR. Pooja Hegde and songs were the only good part. Naa Peru Surya - hero has problems, then he goes to his dad for therapy, he's still angry, has sex with GF, he's still mad, Why is Boman Irani even in the movie?

Welcome to Episode 24 of the Khandaan podcast. Today we’re joined by Jay Mamtora, founder of [BollyBrit](twitter.com/bollybrit), one of the last few outposts of independent Bolly-focused media on the internet. Join us as we discuss 2014’s Farah Khan-directed glitzy spectacular (?) Happy New Year, starring Shahrukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, Boman Irani, Abhishek Bachchan, Sonu Sood, and Vivaan Shah with Jackie Shroff and Anupam Kher as supporting cast. A heist movie that also tries to be a revenge saga, a romance, a buddy movie, a dance competition movie, and a masala entertainer with nationalist underpinnings, it’s a bit of a mess. We also discuss current Bollywood happenings – from the spate of weddings (Anushka! Sonam! Deepika! Priyanka!) and their gossip quotient, to all the new films coming out. Watch out for our extended debates on Simmba, Kedarnath, 2.0, and more. And finally, just a reminder that we’re back to old and tested ways and you should vote for our next movie [here](https://www.opinionstage.com/asimburney/which-2009-movie-do-you-want-us-to-talk-about-on-the-next-khandaan-podcast).
Welcome to Episode 13 (gulp!) of the Khandaan Podcast where we discuss 2011’s Don 2, starring Shahrukh Khan, Priyanka Chopra, Boman Irani, Lara Dutta, and Kunal Kapoor. In this podcast, we talk about the consistently high production values of Excel Entertainment that allow it to make movies that don’t age as badly as other Bollywood product. However, how far can technical excellence take you when the writing is merely ho-hum? This episode left Asim, Sujoy and Amrita with more questions than answers – will Farhan ever make another movie? Were PC and SRK destroying Bharatiya Sanskriti during this film? How hot is Lara Dutta? Etc. We also discuss the blockbuster new release "Veere di Wedding" and the amazing response it has received from male reviewers who are massively upset with its brand of female power. We also look at the many controversies that emerged from this film, including Swara Bhaskar’s infamous statement about Pakistan. A few words are also spared for "Bhavesh Joshi", a movie that dared but couldn’t bear (any fruit at the box office). Asim looks forward to your outraged responses to this podcast! He would also like to remind you that Khandaan is currently accepting nominations for our special run, which begins with episode 15. Send us your listener choices at [upodcasting@gmail.com](upodcasting@gmail.com) Note: The Khandaan podcast is an interactive experience! This is a special edition episode. Back in 2014, Boman Irani came to our event at the SRCC campus and gave one of the most heartfelt talks you would ever hear from the Josh Talks stage. He spoke for more than an hour, but it was really the case of an excellent storyteller sharing a fascinating life journey. Boman Irani was the underdog who made it, and his humility, desire to learn, and zest for life are qualities we could all aspire to. If you care for a frank account of an unusual struggle, with the message that with the right attitude and the will to see the struggle through, anybody could make it big, this is one to hear. Hope you enjoy it!
