WTF Just Happened?!: Afterlife Evidence, Paranormal + Spirituality without the Woo
Dr. Roger Nelson, founder of the Global Consciousness Project, shares how random number generators placed around the world respond when millions of people focus on major events like 9/11, elections, and celebrity deaths. Dr. Nelson started at Princeton University's Engineering Anomalies Research Lab studying whether human consciousness could affect sensitive electronic equipment. They found 15% of people could change random number generator behavior through intention alone. People who could do it were free of conditioning that says you can't. The effects were tiny but accumulated over years of data collection. This led Dr. Nelson to create the Global Consciousness Project in 1997. He placed random number generators around the world to see if major global events would affect them when millions share the same emotional state. The network started with 3 devices and grew to 60-70 by the end of the formal experiment. GCP 2.0 now has 1600 random number generators sending data to cloud servers. The results were undeniable. Across 500 events, the data showed a seven sigma deviation with odds of three parts in a trillion against chance. But what shocked researchers most was the timing. On 9/11, changes started four hours before the first plane hit. Major earthquakes showed patterns eight hours before they struck. Dr. Nelson's explanation: the global mind had premonitions. Liz and Dr. Nelson discuss why random number generators are vulnerable to consciousness when other devices aren't, what the noise problem means for interpreting results, and why some elections produced strong effects while others showed nothing at all. You are good enough. You've always been good enough. You'll always be good enough. There's always more to do, but that does NOT mean you haven't done enough. If we started truly believing that, the economy as we know it, would crumble. And I dunno, maybe that's a good thing. Decentering your "beauty" makes you more beautiful. Do you know how much time, energy, and money can be freed up when you say "this is good enough"? You are perfect, right here, right now. You have to know this. Don''t ever forget it. Reclaim your attention and focus on the shit that actually matters. Most people have very small margins. There's very little time/energy/money to focus on anything beyond basic survival. But for those of us with access to any margins (even tiny ones), we must be willing to expound upon them, exploit them, and set ourselves up for even larger ones down the line. The most successful strikes, boycotts, resistance, and activism has stemmed from people willing to be brave, think differently, and utilize the protection of the margins they're living in. There are certain privileges that some of us are afforded, that can provide us with a "safety net" of protection in our acts of intentional resistance. As more of our safety nets are removed, we are less protected when we rebel against the system. The point is to limit our power through limiting our resources and ability to act freely. Pay attention to the margins and protections you do have access to, and see what you can exploit within them to stretch them for others to exist in the same space. "If the machine of government is of such a nature that it requires you to be the agent of injustice to another, then, I say, break the law." - Henry David ThoreauIn a world that shares none of my values, I must be willing to stand apart from it. It is uncomfortable, but less uncomfortable than assimilating to a culture that is in direct opposition to my personal morality. Ideally, our individual search for a "third space", will lead to a collective embracing of it. It's not healthy (or "sane") to follow the social norms of an unhealthy (or "insane") society. There is a third (secret) space available for us to boycott, sabotage, and refuse to align with what is wrong with the current "norms" but we have to be willing to look at the world differently to see it. We don't have to decide between escape and compliance. There is a middle ground that can push back against the worst aspects of our culture, and inspire others to seek out their own freewill and autonomy to do the same. Contemplation and participation are not mutually exclusive. We need to create space so we can see reality more clearly and orient ourselves towards what we really want. The pull to escape is inherent in any of us living in our current hellscape, but what if we escaped-in-place by backing out of the future the ruling class is insisting upon, and instead, tapped into a future of our own creation. Utopia doesn't exist. But a better world is available to those of us who are willing to abandon the current reality that curates harm as a way of control."Peace is an endless negotiation between two agents whose will cannot be engineered." - Jenny O'DellGet Jenny Odell's Books Here.Buy Jenny Odell's book here.Listen to a different podcast episode about Jenny Odell's book.Read Julie's Medium Blog.Support JULIE (and the show!)Support + get some bonus stuff over on PATREON.Get an occasional personal email from me: www.makeyourdamnbedpodcast.comTune in on INSTAGRAM AND YOUTUBE or TIKTOK.Info on War Tax Resistance.Donate to the Palestinian Children's Relief Fund and the Sudan Relief FundThe opinions expressed by Julie Merica and Make Your Damn Bed Podcast are intended for entertainment purposes only. In the late 60's a bunch of hippie communes popped up across the US, and the ideals were beautiful... but sadly shortlived and often filled with conflict because they focused on escapism instead of true collaboration. If we avoid politics as a way to resist tyranny, we may end up fostering a different form of tyranny. Similarly to the tolerance paradox: Governance can by tyrannical but so can non-governance. pdf, https://erickimphotography.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/How-to-control-your-life-4.pdfHow To Control Your LifeSo after much thinking and philosophizing,,, interesting question, what matters more, power or control?Control. Why?There are many individuals who have a lot of power influence, resources… Capital, yet, have no control over their lives? For example, if you don't have the control or the power in your life to just take a nap whenever you want to… Or to just turn off your phone or ignore your email… Do you got control? So the truth is, when we think about power the will to power… nietzsches idea,,, ... perhaps the way to think about it is in terms of control. The apex power AS control. For example, if you run a publicly traded corporation… The founder to just have control over his her company. Like to have enough shares in the company to not get kicked out.So the basic person talks about money, but a higher order level of thinking is capital. It's not money we seek, but capital. In fact the very interesting insight I have is, typically… People trying to chase money and things, they are just being baited by the same carrot and stick, that corporations try to sell you. And also the interesting insight is, ... then it is not capital or capitalism which is the enemy, but rather… Consumer consumerism. It doesn't matter if you are left or right or center… As long as Asya you're on Instagram or TikTok or YouTube, or Amazon prime… You're being suckered by the same game.In fact, you could simply see who somebody is by just asking them to look at the home screen of their phone. Trust no man or woman who is on Instagram TikTok YouTube or any social media app. Also, trust no man or a woman who has a Netflix subscription. or any streaming subscription. Typically the more capital you have, the more control you have over your life. The very simple idea I have is, bitcoin is digital capital, digital capitalism perfected. With bitcoin anything is possible. Like for example, assuming you have a Coinbase account, there's like 1 trillion things you could do with your bitcoin. Simply put, you could post your bitcoin as collateral, cash out some money, Untaxed,, and either withdraw a small amount a month like $5000 a month, to fund your living expenses, even lower if you live in Southeast Asia… Or, you could cash that out and buy a stock like MSTR, MSTU, MSTX etc. The simple way to have financial control over your life is to just not finance anything. Actually if you studied the ancient etymology of finance it meant “ransom“, or hostage in French. For example you don't want to finance your car, your home or your yacht, assuming you want freedom. Once again… Everyone's a little bit confused… Some people want more power influence money or whatever's… But, the true goal and the endgame is gaining more control. Infinite. In this episode, I sit down with retired Navy SEAL commander and performance expert Rich Diviney who reveals the revolutionary "Mastering Uncertainty Method" - a science-backed approach that elite military operators use to thrive under pressure when things don't go according to plan.Drawing from over two decades of experience leading and training top performers (including founding the SEALs' "Mind Gym"), Rich breaks down how anyone can harness uncertainty as an advantage rather than a liability. We explore how Navy SEALs develop mental toughness, make decisive decisions under extreme pressure, and leverage their innate human capabilities to excel in chaotic environments.Rich shares practical strategies to:Transform uncertain moments into opportunitiesTap into your body's natural performance engine during difficult challengesMaintain composure under pressureImprove performance when stakes are highestUnderstand your "raw self" to determine optimal actions in any scenarioAvoid the traps causing 95% of teams to underperformBuild the four domains of trust essential to high-performing teamsWhether facing uncertainty in your personal or professional life, this conversation provides actionable insights to develop the mindset of an elite operator. As Simon Sinek says about Rich's work: "Easy to understand and simple to implement, Masters of Uncertainty is essential for any person or team that wants to operate even better than they do now."As Andrew Huberman writes in the foreword to Rich's latest book, and the focal point of today's podcast, Masters of Uncertainty: "This book is a practical guide for how to wake up and be the most effective version of yourself, how to bring that to all your life's challenges, and (most importantly) how to perpetually bounce upward and forward when pushed back or under pressure... and in so doing, exceed your previous self and performance—over and over and over.""People like Rich Diviney are rare: because of what they know, for what they have proved capable of doing, and for their ability to teach it to others...
