"And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.'" - Matthew 25:40Millions of people around the world need the basic necessities of life, but even more importantly—they need the Gospel. One organization is helping them receive both. Kelly Miller joins us with an impact report.Kelly Miller is the CEO and President of Cross International, an underwriter of Faith & Finance.A Ministry Model Built on PartnershipCross International's approach to global missions is unique. Instead of working independently, they partner with local Christian organizations, churches, and nonprofits in the countries where they serve. These local partners know their communities far better than we do, and Cross International's role is to walk alongside them and help them expand on what God has already called them to do.This collaborative model not only maximizes impact but also reflects the unity of the Body of Christ as believers across the globe work together to serve those in desperate need.An Impact Report: What God is Doing Through Cross InternationalCross International's mission goes beyond charity. It is about sharing Jesus' love while addressing critical physical needs. Here's a snapshot of what God is doing through their ministry:40,000 children and adults receive food support annuallyOver 3 million servings of fortified rice were provided last year16,000 people gained access to clean, safe drinking waterHundreds of thousands received medical supplies and essential medicinesEach of these numbers represents real lives being changed—people who are now experiencing hope, stability, and the love of Christ.Serving in Crisis: Cross International's Work in HaitiHaiti has endured political instability, gang violence, and natural disasters, yet in the midst of turmoil, Cross International continues to bring hope.Key Ministries in Haiti:Primary education for thousands of childrenTutoring and vocational training to prepare young people for employmentDaily nutritious meals—often the only meal a child will eat all-dayDespite the negative news headlines, God is moving in Haiti, and Cross International is at the forefront of that transformation.Caring for Orphans and Vulnerable Children in AfricaIn many African nations, AIDS, poverty, and natural disasters have left countless children orphaned and homeless. Through their partnerships, Cross International provides:Education and tutoring for at-risk childrenDaily meal support for children without food securityHome rebuilding for families living in unstable, mud-based housingBy offering stable housing, education, and nourishment, Cross International is breaking the cycle of poverty for these children and their families. One of the most inspiring aspects of Cross International's work is how it transforms entire communities.Take Malawi, for example—a country where child malnutrition and extreme poverty are common. Without the feeding program, many children would not go to school. The cycle of poverty would continue. In many cases, young girls would be married off at 11 or 12 years old because their families cannot afford to feed them. This program is breaking that cycle.Through Cross International's work in Tanganyika, Malawi, over 500 children receive food, education, and discipleship—offering them a new future filled with hope and purpose.Meeting Spiritual Needs Alongside Physical OnesCross International provides food, water, and education, but it also shares the life-changing truth of the Gospel with its beneficiaries.Children need to be rooted in God's Word from a young age because navigating life becomes much harder without it. When they learn early on, they grow up with the unshakable truth that God is their provider, guiding and sustaining them through every season of life.Cross International's faith-centered mission is a direct response to 1 John 3:17, which reminds us that true love for God is demonstrated in how we care for those in need. How You Can Partner with Cross InternationalCross International has launched the Thriving Kids Initiative, a program designed to help orphaned, vulnerable, and disabled children not only survive but thrive.By focusing on three key areas:Strengthening familiesBuilding faith communitiesProviding essential resources (food, water, shelter, education)Cross International creates a foundation for long-term stability and spiritual growth. For just $62 a month, you can provide:Nutritious mealsClean and safe drinking waterEducation and discipleshipVisit crossinternational.org/faith to become a monthly partner. As believers, we are called to use our financial resources for God's purposes. Partnering with Cross International is a tangible way to invest in lives, eternity, and the Kingdom of God.God entrusts us with wealth so we can join Him in His work, using our resources to further His Kingdom. As the Body of Christ, let's come together to transform lives and bring the hope of Jesus to those in greatest need.On Today's Program, Rob Answers Listener Questions:I have a question about rebalancing for 401(k) accounts. My husband and I are both retired now, and our advisor is advising us to rebalance. I'm not sure what the pros and cons are of rebalancing. What should I know about it?I have a few hundred thousand dollars that I want to invest, but I don't know where to start. I have about $100,000 in a savings account and another $100,000 in an 18-month CD, earning 4.5%. What should I do with this money to start investing it?I have a question about how Social Security benefits are calculated. “Whoever has a bountiful eye will be blessed, for he shares his bread with the poor.” - Proverbs 22:9Do you have a generous heart—one that seeks out opportunities to bless others, especially those in need? Today, Kelly Miller joins us to share a powerful way you can not only support the poor around the world but also help bring lasting transformation to their lives.Kelly Miller is the CEO and President of Cross International, an underwriter of Faith & Finance. The Global Crisis: Hunger, Clean Water, and PovertyPoverty remains a critical issue around the world, affecting millions of families who struggle to access basic necessities like food, clean water, and education. The numbers are staggering:Over 800 million people go hungry every day.More than 50% of child deaths are linked to hunger-related issues.Nearly 700 million people lack access to safe and clean water.Cross International is a faith-based humanitarian organization dedicated to transforming the lives of impoverished individuals and families worldwide. It is on the front lines, working in over a dozen low-income countries to meet these urgent needs while also addressing the deeper spiritual transformation that brings lasting hope. The Mission of Cross InternationalFounded in 2001, Cross International partners with local Christian ministries to provide essential resources to struggling communities. Their mission is to provide food, water, and shelter and transform lives through the love of Christ. The organization primarily serves Latin America and regions of Eastern and Southern Africa, where the need is particularly dire. Through local partnerships, they empower communities by offering:Nutritious meals for childrenClean drinking waterEducational opportunitiesDiscipleship and spiritual developmentBeyond Humanitarian Aid: Transforming Lives Through ChristCross International goes beyond simply meeting physical needs—they focus on long-term transformation. One example of this is their Thriving Kids Initiative, which ensures children not only receive food and education but also grow in faith and purpose.Take Kenny, a young man from rural Malawi. He grew up in extreme poverty, with little access to food or education. Through Cross International's partnership with local ministries, Kenny was able to attend school and receive his only meal of the day—a nutritious meal provided through the program.Over the years, Kenny has thrived academically, and today, he is a university student in Malawi. He dreams of returning to his village, starting a business, and helping lift others out of poverty. His story is just one of many transformed lives through the work of Cross International. How You Can Help: Become a Thriving Kids AmbassadorThe impact of your generosity can be life-changing. For just $62, you can provide:Life-saving food and waterEducational opportunitiesSpiritual nourishment through the GospelYour gift can make an eternal difference in a child's life. Consider becoming a Thriving Kids Ambassador by giving today.Every gift of $62 helps a child not only survive but thrive through the love of Christ. To join this mission, visit crossinternational.org/faith. On Today's Program, Rob Answers Listener Questions:My problem isn't necessarily with the credit cards. This year, I have financed three reasonably large items, including a used RV that I financed for $17,000 at 10.99% interest over 15 years. If I wait to pay it off for the entire 15 years of the loan, the total cost will triple or even more. How can I pay off this RV more quickly with the resources I have left?I'm in a tough financial spot with debt and no money, and I'm not sure if I should file for bankruptcy or keep trying to pay it off. I want to honor God with my finances, but I'm really struggling.I'm interested in the advantages and disadvantages of creating a trust with money we have after the passing of a loved one, as opposed to investing the money in mutual funds. Since I'm unsure of our intentions for the money, I'm trying to determine whether a trust is the better option or whether I should invest it in mutual funds.I have a $400,000 rental property with $60,000 left on my home mortgage. The rental brings in $1,800 per month. Should I sell the property, use the proceeds to pay off my debts, and invest the remaining $340,000, or should I continue renting the property until I'm 65?Resources Mentioned:Faithful Steward: FaithFi's New Quarterly PublicationCross InternationalLook At The Sparrows: A 21-Day Devotional on Financial Fear and AnxietyRich Toward God: A Study on the Parable of the Rich FoolFind a Certified Kingdom Advisor (CKA) or Certified Christian Financial Counselor (CertCFC)FaithFi App Remember, you can call in to ask your questions most days at (800) 525-7000. VeggieTales co-creator (and "very good friend" of Larry The Cucumber) Mike Nawrocki joins the show today. Nawrocki, who also co-created the "3-2-1 Penguins" series, has a new series for younger readers (generally 1st thru 5th grade) entitled "The Dead Sea Squirrels."The Squirrels books have been released in pairs the past year or two, including the latest couple, "Tree-mendous Trouble" (book 5) and "Whirly Squirrelies" (book 6). An extremely creative writer and producer, Nawrocki's goal for his work historically is to impart one main thought or nugget of truth for the reader (or viewer). Tree-mendous Trouble revolves around Matthew 5:7: "God blesses those who are merciful, for they will be shown mercy." Whirly Squirrelies is based on Proverbs 16:32: "Better to be patient than powerful; better to have self-control than to conquer a city."Starting Monday, be on the lookout for your opportunity to win one of the six "Dead Sea Squirrels" books and qualify to win a complete set of all 6! Details and your opportunity to enter will be posted at wfil.com and shared on AM 560 WFIL :).We cap the show off with our standard "Now THAT'S Punny" segment.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Cross International is based in Pompano Beach, Florida and works in many third-world countries, coming alongside established ministries to support them in their work. (00:00-09:06): Alyssa Milano: If I hadn't opted for two abortions in 1993 'my life would be completely lacking all its great joys' today. Brian and Ian touch on this Blaze article on how the actress is thankful that she went through with the abortions. (10:02-19:14): “Want to improve your life? Just learn to say no”, writes Chloe Brotheridge in The Guardian. Brian and Ian give their input on overworking and how refraining from doing so many things can benefit you. (19:14-28:17): We are still in campaign for Cross International’s effort to feed in impoverished countries. So far we are about $2,000 away from the ultimate goal of 300 kids fed at $39 a year. You can give at this website or at 822-866-4883. (28:17-38:33): Pennywise, Bozo, Krusty, Ronald, what do they all have in common? The bigger question is, why do clowns freak us out? Brian and Ian discuss a CNN piece by Frank T. McAndrew on the possible answers. (38:33-49:21): Hillsong Songwriter Marty Sampson Says He’s Losing His Christian Faith. Brian and Ian talk about the condition of the modern Christian and the risk of losing sight of what really matters when it comes to faith. Do we remain faithful even though God seems distant? (49:21-59:45): We are still in campaign for Cross International’s effort to feed in impoverished countries. We hear some first-hand encounters of these areas and what CI is doing. So far we are about $2,000 away from the ultimate goal of 300 kids fed at $39 a year. You can give at this website or at 822-866-4883. (59:45-1:10:01): People who swear more are better friends. Brian and Ian discuss why or why not swearing is bad or inappropriate. They also touch on the difference between cussing and cursing. Can mockery contain seemingly innocent words? (1:10:01-1:16:45): Brian and Ian’s “Weird Stuff We Found on the Internet”: Florida anchorman uses his head to tell compelling story of a slow, drunk car chase. Canadian police tell drunk it is NACHO kind of day. An angry cat catches ride with irresponsible mother. Meanwhile, new Disney attraction is super inconvenient.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
(00:00-08:17): We are back to continue to campaign for Cross International. Robert Lewis joins Brian and Ian to tell more amazing stories of this amazing ministry. (08:17-18:37): We hear from Joe White of Cross International about finishing well, talking about the sheep and the goats. He emphasizes how “God cares about our piggy bank”. (18:37-28:11): Robert has us listen to a clip from Carlos Vargas regarding the hospital in Guatemala the ministry has built. Vargas also talks about a cemetery he had to build for the kids he could not save. (28:11-37:11): Robert closes out the hour to give a brief overview of what Cross International does, and who they are. They are an interdenominational organization committed to helping children and families in need in impoverished countries. (37:11-47:45): Robert sticks around for another hour to continue telling stories about his experiences in the areas Cross International helps. He touches on the garbage dumps the kids will scour for food and other things. (47:45-57:06): Robert talks about a woman who was frail and sick. Carlos Vargas tried to help her and she refused until she collected things she needed to sell for food. She finally received medical attention, but got worse. It wasn’t until she prayed with Carlos she was healed. (57:06-1:07:06): We hear from a Haitian woman who was starving child. She described the clay cookie she would ingest to trick her stomach into thinking she was eating food. Because of Cross International, she was fed. (1:07:06-1:15:06): We close out the hour and Robert extends his gratitude to WYLL for giving Cross International and outlet for outreach.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
(00:00-9:41): Robert Lewis is here from Cross International to tell us about this amazing ministry and what he does. $39 helps feed a child for a year, and CI is calling out to listeners to help. (09:41-19:01): Robert talks about a boy who was 19 pounds at age 16, on the verge of death. He asked to be healed by God. Now, he is healthier and eager to help others in his community building shelters and helping with food. (19:01-28:07): We hear again from Carlos Vargas about the joy of serving and doing what God calls us to do. God calls us to help the poor and those in need. (28:07-38:24): We close out the hour hearing from Emory Wilson. He talks about his experiences in Haiti and what he saw. He says it is so unnecessary for people to have to go hungry. (38:24-47:44): Robert talks about a station in Cleveland where a woman told the story of her terminal children. She said they were listening to the station, and her kids (who both have terminal disease) asked to donate money to the kids in need. (47:44-58:09): “Just picture 300 of the most beautiful children you’ve ever seen” “They have hopes and dreams”, Robert talks about the kids he has met in these impoverished countries that need our help. Each moment we spend is meant for something. (58:09-1:07:33): Robert shares a story about the largest gift Cross International received. The man who planned on giving $68,000 ended up giving much more. He expresses accolades to Brian and Ian and their radio ministry that helps “encourage memberships and helps keep the body of Christ strong”. (1:07:33-1:16:13): We close out the hour hearing of another miraculous story from Carlos Vargas. Jose is a child whose father abandoned the family when he was a child. Years later, Jose would be helping those in need in his community, and ended up helping a man who could not walk. It turned out that man was Jose’s birth father. He took care of him and led him to Christ. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Robert Lewis & Tom Carter with Cross International spend the hour in-studio today. Cross International is based in Pompano Beach, Florida and works in many third-world countries, coming alongside established ministries to support them in their work. The focus of our time today is a partnership with Divine Shelter Christian School in Haiti, where the average household income is $2 per day and many families cannot afford food much less education. For a one-time gift of $88, a child can have a full scholarship to DSCS, including a uniform, shoes, school supplies, and of course the education itself—and not just any education, but a Christian education, where the child reads the Bible, memorizes Scripture, and learns about the Lord. For an additional one-time gift of $22, the child will receive a hot meal each day. All told, a $110 one-time gift will provide both the Christian education and food for a child for a whole year. A number of very powerful stories are shared, including two children (ages 9 and 11) who, despite being terminally ill, insisted their Christmas money be used instead for helping two children in Haiti receive education and food with DSCS. Give the podcast a listen and be both encouraged in your faith and challenged (in a good way) to be God’s “hands and feet.” 1 866 367-9655 is the number to help out, or you can click the Cross International banner at wfil.com. Should you wish to help out on a monthly basis (say $110 / 12 months = $9.16/month), that’s totally fine too. By the way, Robert did mention a “Classroom Champion” line of thinking, for those who might be in position to help on a larger scale. Since the average class size DSCS works with is 30 children, a $3300 gift (30 x $110/child) would provide an education and food for an entire class for a year. Should you wish to help on a monthly basis, this would equate to $275/month. Thank you for your consideration & God bless you today!See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Cross International serves the poorest of the poor internationally by channeling aid through dioceses, parishes, and Catholic missionaries, and cost-effectively helping the poor break the cycle of poverty while advancing Catholic evangelization. Our pastor Fr. Kelley is visiting the missions in Patzan Guatemala with some of the missionaries of our paris Today we are also going to reflect on the readings of the 12th Sunday in Ordinary Time Cycle C. We come here today at God’s invitation to hear God’s word and offer our praise and thanksgiving. Today we are confronted with Jesus’ question, “Who do you say that I am?” As we enter into our prayer today, let us ponder our own answer to that question. For Christ is the one who calls us to take up our cross and follow him.
Cross International is a Catholic organization that works through existing structures in poor nations to get help to the poor. Approximately 98% of the money donated reaches the poor.
