It's a sleepy little week over here and after the long anticipated (or dreaded) return of What's Making Me Happy, the girls dive in. Once again, the Young Bucks were the highlight of the week as they joined Ricochet to take on the Sewer Boys in a very classic Memphis Match (we ALL know what that means). Hangman comes for our jobs hard with some of his comments this week, and yes we ARE threatened. We also check in with Jon Moxley's choking kink, Mercedes's mush, Roddy's t-shirt techniques, and hey, we had time to play the Dating Game!0:00 What's Making Me Happy11:06 The Elite33:36 Men's Owen Tournament49:28 The Opps/Deathriders54:54 Women's Owen Tournament1:01:56 The Patriarchy/FTR/Paragon1:09:49 The Dating Game!Support this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/social-suplex-podcast-network/donationsAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy

It's no secret that most men want to find love in life and someone they can partner with throughout life. But the reality is that far-fewer men are doing the work required than ever before. And, for those who are actively looking for love, many of them are floundering when it comes to approaching women and building interest that could potentially lead to a long-term relationship. David Meessen is a man who has made it his life's work to help men understand why they struggle and why society, at large, seems to be continually stacking the deck against the type of relationships the men listening to this podcast are looking for. Today we talk about why men seem to be so intimidated in approaching women, the skills (and, they are learnable skills) you can develop to have a more successful dating life, why “Progressive Desensitization” is such a valuable option in love and in life, the alarming statistics around romantic relationships and young men's increasing aversion to them, and how radical honestly (not overly-agreeableness) is what creates attraction. Forget about the original “The Dating Game,” not to mention “The All-New Dating Game” and “The Celebrity Dating Game.” This is director Violet Du Feng's “The Dating Game,” which just had its world premiere at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival. Of course, this is a documentary not a Chuck Barris game show and, like Violet's previous film, the sublime “Hidden Letters,” which was shortlisted for an Academy Award, her version explores the topic with depth, insight, and humor. Joining Ken for another of our in-person Sundance Film Festival interviews, along with the film's Academy Award-winning producer, Joanna Natasegara (“The White Helmets”), Violet discusses the similarities and differences between “Hidden Letters” and “The Dating Game.” The film delves into the world of dating for young Chinese men, who face immense challenges in a country where there are 30 million more men than women due to China's former One Child Policy. The film's compelling participants include the highly sought after but somewhat cheesy dating coach Hao and his three clients, as well as Hao's wife, Wen, also a dating coach. When, in one scene, Wen confronts Hao about their own marriage, the plot thickens. No game show can match that drama. Send us a textIn this solo episode, Andrea Atherton explores the powerful link between self-confidence, self-trust, and the way we show up in relationships. She dives deep into the subconscious stories and limiting patterns that keep us stuck in cycles of self-doubt—whether it's second-guessing our choices, overanalyzing our partner's actions, or struggling to trust our own feelings. Andrea unpacks how these hidden narratives shape our love lives and how we can begin rewriting them to cultivate healthier, more fulfilling connections. Instead of seeing past relationships as failures, she encourages a shift in perspective—viewing them as lessons that guide us toward deeper self-awareness and growth. With a blend of personal insights and actionable strategies, Andrea discusses how to approach relationships with intentionality, moving beyond outdated patterns of attraction and instead choosing a partner who aligns with our values and evolution. She highlights the delicate balance between personal growth and relational work—because while self-development is essential, relationships also require presence, vulnerability, and shared effort. Andrea also introduces powerful tools like meditation and journaling to deepen self-knowledge, helping listeners tune into their intuition, break free from self-doubt, and foster a strong inner foundation.Andrea also explores what it means to create a relationship of growth, where both partners support each other's evolution rather than staying stuck in old dynamics. She shares how to cultivate a connection that thrives on mutual respect, emotional safety, and continuous learning. If you've ever questioned whether you're choosing the right person, felt torn between independence and connection, or struggled with self-doubt in relationships, this episode is for you. Andrea shares transformative mindset shifts and practical exercises to help you break free from limiting beliefs, trust yourself fully, and approach love with both confidence and clarity. In this episode, Derek, Conrad, and Brooke welcome back our resident royal expert, Anna Marie, for another fascinating look at Danish royalty. She kicks things off by quizzing us on some of Denmark's most intriguing kings and queens before diving into the life and legacy of King Christian IX. How did a king from a relatively small nation manage to shape several European monarchies for generations? And what did these new alliances mean for Denmark's place on the world stage?King Christian IX of Denmark wasn't just a ruler—he was the ultimate matchmaker. Known as the “Father-in-Law of Europe,” he strategically married off his children and grandchildren to the most powerful thrones of the 19th and 20th centuries, turning Denmark into an unexpected royal powerhouse—one wedding at a time.Don't forget to share this podcast with any friends who have made the move to Denmark. For more clips and tips on living in Denmark and follow us on social media:What Are You Doing in Denmark podcast: Instagram: https://instagram.com/waydidpodWatch these episodes on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLFCSH6KqKooZmSx1GJu9CWZYjX8esjl2FOr listen via The Copenhagen Post: https://cphpost.dk/Inquiries: hello@robe-trotting.comDerek Hartman: Instagram: https://instagram.com/robetrottingYouTube: https://youtube.com/c/robetrottingTikTok: https://tiktok.com/@robetrottingFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/robetrottingConrad Molden:Instagram: https://instagram.com/conradmoldencomedyYouTube: https://youtube.com/c/conradmoldenTikTok: https://tiktok.com/@conradmolden Facebook: https://facebook.com/conradmoldenTour Information: https://www.conradmolden.dkBrooke Black:Instagram: https://instagram.com/brookeblackjustTikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@brookeblackjustAnna Marie:Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/pokrolewskuYouTube: www.youtube.com/@pokrolewskuPodcast: https://tr.ee/2SiX75PJBS Hosted on Acast. At the time of his appearance on The Dating Game in 1978, Alcala was a convicted sexual predator who had served time for sexual assault and had only avoided a charge of attempted murder on a technicality. After his arrest, investigators would learn that, by the time he appeared on the game show, he was also a killer. In the year that followed, Alcala would go on to murder several other women until he was finally caught and convicted for his crimes. At his trial, Rodney Alcala was found guilty of eight murders, among other crimes, but he is suspected of several other murders, perhaps as many as one hundred or more.Thank you to the Incredible Dave White of Bring Me the Axe Podcast for research and Writing support!ReferencesAssociated Press. 1980. When Cheryl Bradshaw appeared on the popular game show The Dating Game in 1978, she was charmed by bachelor number one, Rodney Alcala, and by the end of the episode, she'd chosen him to take her on a date. However, just minutes after the episode finished taping, Cheryl met bachelor number two in person backstage and was immediately uncomfortable and quickly contacted producers of the show to cancel the date. What Bradshaw didn't know at the time was that, in doing so, she had narrowly avoided spending an evening in the company of one of America's most notorious serial killers. 1980. When we left off last week, we had learned about The Dating Game contestant Rodney Alcala's assault of 8-year-old Tali and his first murder victim in NYC (at least, the first that we know of).We also reveled in the fact that a couple of his school-aged campers recognized his photo on the FBI Most Wanted list hanging in the Post Office near their New Hampshire camp (and yes, he changed his name to John Berger and worked at a camp for young girls after the assault on Tali and the alleged first NYC Killing). And just to recap, at this point in this confusing back and forth timeline, he is now a registered sex offender is about to land a job working for the LA Times, despite that registered sex offender status and finding himself in jail a couple times before appearing on The Dating Game show in 1978.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
