This week we had to work hard for Supercar News, but we found some. It was easier in Speedway with the Easter Trail and the new speedway opening at Eastern Creek. Liberty Media has bought MotoGP, there was the Bathurst 6-Hour, the World Rally Championship in Kenya and, of course, a NASCAR wrap-up with drivers throwing broken bumpers at rivals. We talk about why Formula E is boring and irrelevant, and then ramble our way through the latest F1 news... where should Carlos Sainz go? Don't forget to jump onto the Auto Action website to sign-up for the free digital copy of the magazine, and hard copy is out tomorrow.
Luke and Adam discuss Eastern Creek Speedway and the effect a lack of racing has had on Sydney and whether the sport can rebuild?
We're talking to multiple national champion, production car and Porsche icon, and inaugural Bathurst 12 Hour winner Peter Fitzgerald in this week's episode of the V8 Sleuth Podcast powered by Castrol. Fitzy shares the story of how he became a racing rookie at the age of 27 at the wheel of an ex-Pete Geoghegan Porsche, with a bit of tutelage and advice from Frank Gardner. He shares tales of how he funded his racing - including the deal that funded his first attempt to race at the Bathurst 1000 in 1981 - as well has his side of the infamous tale of how Brad Jones' dad flagged him down in Albury to secure a pivotal co-drive for his son! He also shares the story of how he managed to seamlessly switch sponsorship deals from Yokohama to Goodyear, as well as a couple of tales from his victory with Allan Grice and Nigel Arkell in the inaugural Bathurst 12 Hour in 1991. It proved his only victory in the opening era of the race - and he talks about how the win slipped away in 1993 and when the race moved to Eastern Creek in 1995. We also briefly touch on his touring car racing, including a year in the Benson & Hedges BMW squad as co-driver to Alan Jones and Denny Hulme, netting a Bathurst class podium in the process. Throughout 2024 on the V8 Sleuth Podcast feed we're going to take a look back through Australian motorsport history with a series of Ryco Rewind episodes that explore the great races, drivers and cars from the past on the anniversary of them unfolding. For our first Ryco Rewind, we're going back to the Sandown round of the 1996 Australian Touring Car Championship when 'The Kid', Craig Lowndes, showed his win on debut under lights at Eastern Creek was no fluke! "Cash, There is no cash here", is that the catchphrase at Supercars at the moment. There was plenty to come out of the F1's in Brazil even though Max was just being Max. The Speed Series happened at Eastern Creek, Nascar wrapped up in Phoenix, and the Kiwi's had a 6 hour. All that and so much more here on the Auto Action Rev Limiter. Andrew Clarke is joined by Bruce Williams and Paul Gover. The Producer is wrapped in cotton wool and plaster so he should make it through the full episode. We're back to cover all the sport. In the NFL it's a funny season. Are the Chiefs back? It's too early to tell but signs are good. The Rams are in a hole and the Pats could be the best team going round. In Soccer we've got the International weekend and World Cup Qualifiers. By the time you listen to this Australia will have played China in Sharjah. EPL is back this week and we give out tips. Arsenal have gone from the cellar to the hottest team in football in the space of 2 months. Australia beat New Zealand comfortably in the T20 World Cup Final in Dubai. New Zealand have played the final of all three forms of the game in the last couple of years taking out the test championship but losing both forms of limited overs finals. Our friend Erik may have coined the phrase DSC So Big. SVG is close to wrapping up the Supercars title with one more round at Eastern Creek before Bathurst. And in the F1 Lewis Hamilton kept the title alive with a stunning victory in Brazil. Meanwhile in other sport, Pies is loving the NBA season because it actually looks like Basketball again. Josh Giddey and Patty Mills are doing some good things too. Australia and England are heading to Brisbane to prepare for The Ashes. A preview will be out shortly. And we finsih off with The Producer's plans to fix the lopsided NRL draw. 0:00:00 - NFL 0:17:00 - FIFA WCQ 0:32:00 - EPL 0:38:00 - T20 World Cup 0:49:00 - Supercars 0:54:00 - Formula 1 1:00:00 - NBA, Marathon Running, Ashes, Fixing the NRL Part of the Always Up Network Twitter - @batsandballspod Brendan - @The Producer05 Josh - @PiesJosh Colbee - @colbee6ref Hammer - @notbatting11 Mendy - @BigMendy180 Maybo - @maybo83 Erik - @ErikNielsen2759 Always Up Network - @AlwaysUpNetwork #AUN Email - batsandballspodcast@gmail.com facebook.com/batsandballspodcast http://batsandballspodcast.com/

It's been a long time. But Pies is back in the Bats and Balls Studio with The Producer. After a short catch up we're back into the sports. In the NFL Arizona look unstoppable at the moment. There's a few other NFC teams nipping at their heels though. In the AFC no team has fewer than 2 losses which makes for a competitive conference. In the EPL Liverpool won the one fixture the fans look forward to every season. A 5-0 drubbing of Manchester United at Old Trafford no less. Mo Salah is the best player in the world right now. But Liverpool may still only be the third best team in the Premier League the way Chelsea and Manchester City are playing. It's gonna be a fascinating run to the title with these three special teams. Brighton fell to City and face the Reds this week which may see them finally drop out of the European positions. The T20 World Cup is under way. Australia won their first match., But Pakistan have been the surprise packets beating India and New Zealand. Batting coach Matt Hayden has them firing. State of Rest won the Cox Plate despite severely hampering 3yo Anamoe in the run to the post. Craig Williams looked confident waiting for the result but it wasn't to be. The question has to be if that was a midweek at Moe, do they uphold the protest. And the answer is yes. In other races Forgot You won the Vase and is headed for the Derby. But connections unfortunately won't be sending the 3yo to the Melbourne Cup. Keep an eye out for our Derby Day tips and our annual Melbourne Cup show. In other sport Max Verstappen held off Lewis Hamilton in the US Grand Prix while Supercars are back at Eastern Creek for the next 4 weeks straight. The NBA tipped off last week and the Chicago Bulls lead the standings with the Lakers slowly finding their groove. Golden State are out in front of the West. 0:11:00 - NFL 0:24:00 - EPL 0:37:00 - T20 World Cup 0:51:00 - Horse Racing 1:16:00 - Motorsport & NBA Part of the Always Up Network Twitter - @batsandballspod Brendan - @The Producer05 Josh - @PiesJosh Colbee - @colbee6ref Hammer - @notbatting11 Mendy - @BigMendy180 Maybo - @maybo83 Erik - @ErikNielsen2759 Always Up Network - @AlwaysUpNetwork #AUN Email - batsandballspodcast@gmail.com facebook.com/batsandballspodcast http://batsandballspodcast.com/

Torqueing Heads: Superbike Sundays continues with an in-depth interview with the reigning Bennetts BSB champion, Josh Brookes - the fortified and undeniable Bennetts BSB legend: two championship titles, never finished outside of the top five overall in 11 seasons of racing and - with 54 race wins - he sits second in the all-time race win table. At 37-years old, he's the ‘old man' on the grid. But with a big no.1 on the front of this bike and the mindset of a 19-year old (his words), he is the man to beat in 2021. We caught up with Josh about:His predictions for this year and his main rivalsHow he keeps motivated to winHow he keeps calm under last round pressureWhat changes have been made to the dominant Ducati V4 RWhat makes Brookes and PBM such a dominant packageWhich BSB season he would race in if he could travel back in timeWhich new track he would like BSB to make on the calendarHis thoughts on the new qualifying, showdown and triple header format.

The modern day era saw Michael Chugg’s music life take on different turns – touring new acts and new genres, breaking new artists in Australia and a return to managing artists. Chuggy had to get hands on with artists - playing a role in breaking Robbie Williams and Sheppard into Australia. In Part 3 of their conversation, Peter and Chuggy look at the ups and downs of modern day touring and the music business. It’s not common for a touring man to help break artists onto the radio and into the charts, but it was a challenge Chuggy took up. Peter and Michael also look back at the infamous moment where Chuggy took to the stage at the Guns N Roses concert at Sydney’s Eastern Creek and how he might have done things differently a second time around. Note: This interview was recorded prior to the passing away of country music promoter Rob Potts and musician and journalist Iain Shedden in late 2017.
