Ligure di nascita, torinese d'adozione, arriva in città nel 1862 dove frequenta il liceo per un breve periodo. Gli studi furono interrotti quando fece ingresso nella Scuola Militare di Modena per intraprendere la carriera militare combattendo nell'esercito Sabaudo. De Amicis per un anno percorre quotidianamente la Città di Torino sull'Omnibus raccogliendo aneddoti, storie e vicende di individui diversi, accomunati dalla necessità dello spostamento. Una micro comunità itinerante dove quotidianamente si incontrano tutti gli strati sociali, operai, nobiltà, prostitute, borghesi, sindaci e accattoni ed emergono i contrasti tra generazioni e classi. Dal 1923, in piazza Carlo Felice esiste un monumento dedicato allo scrittore, opera dell'artista Rubino.

The second episode of season two of Healthcare Reimagined was recorded on November 17th, 2020. I had a chance to speak with Dr. Edmondo Robinson, who is the Chief Digital Innovation officer for the Moffitt Cancer Center.  In his last role, he served as the Chief Transformation Officer and Senior VP of Consumerism at ChristianaCare, one of the largest health care providers in the mid-Atlantic. Dr. Robinson is an associate professor of oncologic sciences at the University of South Florida's Morsani College of Medicine.  He received his MD from UCLA; his MBA from Wharton; and his Master's in health policy research from the University of Pennsylvania. We began with a discussion about the long-term impacts of COVID on healthcare, specifically related to the move from volume to value based care.  We then discussed the technological and behavioral challenges associated with utilizing AI tools to improve care.  We dove into the intersection of AI and race, building upon a webinar the SCHI hosted this summer with Dr. Michael Kearns and Aaron Roth, the Co-Authors of “The Ethical Algorithm.”  Worse outcomes among people of color are sometimes associated with genetics, but in fact, as Dr. Robinson points out, these  are really the result of both systemic racism and implicit biases. Jornalista dos quatro costados, começou a escrever livros infantis para a filha Catarina, quando esta lhe disse que já tinha lido todos os que havia para ler. Surgiu então "Rosa, Minha Irmã Rosa", um clássico absoluto para várias gerações, a que se seguiram mais de oitenta outros títulos, muitos deles premiados, tanto em Portugal como no estrangeiro.
