Embark on a celestial journey with Andrew Dunkley and Professor Fred Watson in this episode of Space Nuts, where they explore a variety of space phenomena that are as intriguing as they are mysterious. Firstly, they discuss Blue Origin's return to the stars with NS-25, a mission that marked a triumphant comeback after technical setbacks. The flight not only signifies Blue Origin's resilience but also the inspirational story of Ed Dwight, the first African-American astronaut candidate, who at 90 years old, set a record as the oldest person to reach space.Next, the conversation lightens with the discovery of a planet with the consistency of fairy floss, also known as cotton candy or candy floss. WASP-193b, a gas giant that defies the norms of density and composition, leaves astronomers scratching their heads. How does a planet become so 'fluffy'? What could it possibly be made of? These are the questions that Andrew and Fred ponder as they delve into the mysteries of planet formation.Lastly, the duo discusses the gravitational wave background in the universe, likening it to the cosmic microwave background radiation. They explore how pulsar timing arrays are providing new insights into the 'hiss' of gravitational waves created by countless cosmic events, offering a deeper understanding of the universe's dynamic fabric. From record-breaking astronauts to cotton candy planets and the cosmic symphony of gravitational waves, this episode of Space Nuts is packed with astronomical wonders that will leave you in awe. The sugar would then dry in strings and be served as a dessert.  Obviously very time consuming...only the wealthy could afford spun sugar desserts...until 1897, when Dentist William Morrison and confectioner John C. Wharton invented machine-spun cotton candy....they introduced it at the 1904 World's Fair as Fairy Floss. Fairgoers loved it and bought over 68,000 boxes for 25¢ a box.

This fit the market need in many cases, but posed significant challenges from a marketing and messaging standpoint, as the market understands product companies and service companies but is less comfortable with descriptions that don’t entirely fit into either bucket.” “None of [the open source tools developers love(d) so much] concerned VMware particularly, because as its early developer attention waned its popularity within the operations side of the house – and central IT in particular – boomed. Which has been good for the company generally as central IT has historically been less concerned both about software being open source and being free than developers, which has led to VMware becoming an enterprise datacenter standard which in turn led to its current $60.7B market cap – a valuation roughly double that of Red Hat’s, for context.” Related: El Reg (https://www.theregister.co.uk/2018/11/06/vmware_vmworld_europe_summary/) decoder ring (https://www.theregister.co.uk/2018/11/06/vmware_vmworld_europe_summary/).   If you’re like me, this time of year your blood type is ‘pumpkin spice!’  Here are some sweet facts about Halloween Candy: The process of covering a chocolate center with hard candy like an M&M is called Enrobing! Harry Burnett Reese named his chocolate-covered peanut butter cup after himself.   Did you know that a dentist created cotton candy? In 1897 dentist William Morrison partnered with candy maker John C. Wharton to invent the machine that used centrifugal force to turn sugar into cotton-like strands! First named “Fairy Floss”, it was renamed cotton candy in the 1920s! I’d like to take a moment to extend a special thank you to all of our armed forces serving our country at home and abroad!

Self love gets thrown around life confetti. But maybe we've had the wrong approach until now. Maybe, self love isn't just forcing on the good, but also acknowledging the not so good to really be able to work it. We chat with the incredible Kim Morrison, amazing author and health and lifestyle educator, as to how we can actually get real when it comes to self love - without the bunny rabbits, fluffy lambs and fairy floss. Real, open and honest. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Experiencing the sugary fluffiness of fairy floss died at the same point we were able to stay awake past 8.30 p.m. Us big grownups don't indulge in the beautiful nostalgia of fairy floss nearly as much as we could / should. Thankfully for us Peter Pan types, Nathan Hunter has made fairy floss great again with his start-up Fluffë, and anyone who can do that is A-OK in Pedestrian's books."I started developing made-up logos and brand identities for fake businesses. One of them was a fairy floss business because that's not really a thing I've ever seen and, I don't know, I just sort of thought of what this business would offer - I always get a bit attached to things and I sort of, lose time investing in it. I thought about it, [and] thought about it, and asked for a fairy floss machine for Christmas and tested it out."Nathan's only in his early twenties and has a inspiring nonchalance about getting to where he has. "I was like, this could turn into something - and if it didn't turn into something, I still had a fairy floss machine and I could still make myself fairy floss, which was still pretty cool so I was like, I don't know how I could lose." That's the kind of optimism we need in our lives tbh.If you're an aspiring hustler who wants to see the bright side of things when it comes to the hardships of starting a biz, you should for-sure listen to Nathan's tips in the latest ep of our Founders University podcast. In addition to his taking-it-as-it-comes attitude, he also discusses handling copycats and navigating regulations and legal whatnot.
