Ownership of Vehicle Telematic Data Must Flow to the Vehicle Owner. Do you know that a car collects data as you drive? By 2022, 87% of new vehicles will be transmitting telematic data wirelessly. But who owns the data? The car manufacturer does. Without access to data, the independent service professional will not be able to get specific diagnostic data from the vehicle. Key Talking Points: Massachusetts Question 1 - “Right to Repair Law” Vehicle Data Access Requirement Initiative (2020) Find detailed data on the position from both sides and the support for and against: https://bit.ly/3iUdRFx (https://bit.ly/3iUdRFx) OEMs have invested $25 Million against this The aftermarket does 70% of the repairs The stakes are high and federal is following this Who has the data will determine who will repair cars in the future Ad campaign from the OEMs are telling the consumer that they will be stalkedThey are playing on fear They do have a foundation to stand on for why they should not allow access to mechanical data except for monopolization In Europe you have to do to the OEMs cloud for data and pay for it Aaron Lowe “If the manufactures determine the terms of the data, the independent part of the industry is dead”. This is a anti consumer initiative that would take choice away If they totally controlled the data the OEMs could determine who sells their cars Bill Hanvey: “It is ironic that the OEMs are criticizing the aftermarket for an accusation that is not true about accessing personal data, yet their business model is built upon selling that personal data”. Aaron Lowe is working with other industry groups and associations to work on federal legislation Opposition is spending a lot of money because they have a bad message In 2012 we won the Right To Repair by a 84%-16% margin. It won’t be that wide this time Message is simple: concentrating on consumer choice. It resonates with consumers and the voters in Massachusetts Any shop in Massachusetts please pass on the need to vote yes. Get the marketing materials to your customers. Same access as the dealership. Telematic data left out. Have legislation to amend the Right to Repair Act to include telematics data. Host Kash Khan interviews Bill Ottman, an internet entrepreneur, freedom of internet activist, and the CEO and co-founder of Minds, a free and open source networking service that rewards its users through the blockchain.    In this podcast, Bill talks about an array of topics from the importance of the internet transitioning to a transparent, open source, decentralized direction; to the similarities psychedelics and technology share through the interconnectedness it provides to the individuals who use them. The Educate Inspire Change Takeaway:   “Biology and technology is symbiotic.”   “Conversation minimizes violence, so if you’re restricting the conversation even though it may be with the intent of reducing hate speech or radicalization, that has a higher likelihood of causing violence and radicalization because you create all these people who think that they're victims, they’re pissed off that they’re censored, and they freak out.”   “Our success is not dependent on someone else's failure… you can be successful by doing what you do well and there will be people who are attracted to that.”   “By participating in bitcoin you are building a better system.”   “I feel like taking psychedelics is like going to a teacher and figuring out what you need to do and the areas you need to work on.”   Bullet Points (w/ time stamps) - Highlighting key topics discussed    2:37: Kash asks Bill to explain how he became involved in the technology field, and Bill talks about the platforms our technologies should be built on to ensure a user's freedoms.   8:41: Kash asks Bill why he thinks Facebook doesn't care about the creators and the platform, and after surmising his beliefs, Bill asks Kash the same question.   22:40: Kash asks Bill to talk more about how his networking website Minds works and how it rewards users with tokens, essentially paying users for their data through the revenue Minds generates.    31:00: Kash opens up the conversation for Bill to talk about his psychedelic experiences and what part they have played in his view of life, our planet, and technology.   45:47: Kash and Bill talk about artificial intelligence and the Open AI initiative that Elon Musk created, and the pros and cons Bill sees in it becoming a beautiful resource to help people or pharmaceutical and other companies corrupting the initiative.    56:52: Kash asks Bill to talk about where he believes the future of cryptocurrency lies, and Bill expresses his appreciation for the creator of Bitcoin as well as how cryptocurrency is integrated on his platform Minds.   1:07:43: Bill shares the last book that he read, which was a book of passages by Geroeg Orwell and how relevant they are today considering social media platforms have become silos of communication that are able to censor its users.    1:14:44: Bill talks about the feeling of interconnectedness that psychedelics give you is very similar to navigating through the internet by leaving traces and giving energy to thousands of places every single day.    1:18:00: Kash talks about the importance of intention and being thankful; both Bill and Kash begin discussing vegan and vegetarianism, and how the pace of eating or fasting influences the body and mind in ways similar to psychedelics. Dangerous Assignment was an NBC radio drama starring Brian Donlevy broadcast in the US 1949–1953. It preceded the James Bond character and books and may well have inspired them. "The Commissioner" sent US special agent Steve Mitchell to exotic locales all over the world, where he would encounter adventure and international intrigue in pursuit of some secret. Each show would always open with a brief teaser scene from the episode to follow. After the intro, Steve Mitchell would be summoned to the office of 'The Commissioner', the regional head of an unnamed US State Department agency created to address international unrest as it affected U.S. interests. "The Commissioner" would give background information, explain the current situation and tell Steve his assignment. Steve's cover identity, in almost all his adventures, was that of a suave debonair foreign correspondent for an unnamed print publication — his assignments invariably involved deceit, trickery, and violence, all tied together into a successful resolution by the end of the episode. Dangerous Assignment started out as a replacement radio series broadcast in the US on the NBC radio network in the summer of 1949; it became a syndicated series in early 1950. Reportedly, star Brian Donlevy himself was the one who brought the show to NBC. In the American radio shows, Donlevy was both the protagonist within the action and the narrator, giving the show "a suspenseful immediacy." The only other regular actor on the radio shows was Herb Butterfield, who played "The Commissioner." Many stage and screen actors appeared as guest-stars including, among many others, William Conrad, Raymond Burr, Richard Boone, and Eddie Cantor The radio show started out as a seven-week summer replacement series broadcast on NBC Saturdays 8:30–9 PM EST. It premiered July 9, 1949; the last episode was on August 20, 1949. A character portraying the Commissioner's secretary, 'Ruthie', was played by Betty Moran — it is hinted that there was some romantic history between Ruthie and Steve Mitchell. He has written for Inc., New York Daily News, and the American Management Association. I am absolutely thrilled to be speaking with Bill Wooditch on the What’s Next! Podcast!  THIS EPISODE IS PERFECT FOR… anyone who wants to succeed and learn how to use their indispensable failures to get there faster!  TODAY’S MAIN MESSAGE…..It’s the serious student of success that treats failure as the indispensable teacher. Unless you’re able to first move through the pains of rejection and the fear of the attempt, you will not be able to move forward to create the lifestyle you dream of. The key here is to be dispassionate about failure and check your irrational fears and it is important to check your ego and the fear of losing prestige, because this too can paralyze your progress. Bill shares some wisdom and some strategy for addressing fear, failure, and the pursuit of success!  WHAT  I  LOVE  MOST… It’s a pleasure to have someone on the What’s Next! Podcast who talks about this fear of failure and having the courage and fortitude to lean into the kind of discomfort that leads to success!    Running time: 32:21   Subscribe on iTunes   Find Tiffani on social: Facebook Twitter LinkedIn   Find Bill on social:  Twitter  Instagram  LinkedIn    Bill’s Website:  Official Website    Bill’s Books:  Fail More  Always Forward

Welcome to the What's Next! podcast with Tiffani Bova. This week, I have Bill Macaitis on the podcast. Bill served as the go-to-market executive for three of the fastest growing SaaS companies: Slack, Zendesk, and Salesforce. He has achieved five exits and now he enjoys helping other companies achieve hyper-growth by leveraging his cumulative knowledge and helping build go-to-market playbooks and teams. THIS EPISODE IS PERFECT FOR… anyone who is looking to turbocharge business performance. TODAY’S MAIN MESSAGE… Customer experience plays a bigger role than you think in your company’s growth. You have to start with two key things: 1) Understand the top reasons your company is recommended 2) Then….understand why it isn’t. Your brand is the sum of every customer touch point, which means everyone, whether they are a salesperson, a customer service agent, a marketer, or in an entirely different group – everyone must have a clear understanding of the value they bring to a customer’s journey.  Once everyone is moving forward in the same direction, then it’s a good time to discuss shared metrics and incentives. WHAT I LOVE MOST… It’s always helpful to put yourself in someone else’s shoes. If you are in marketing, go on sales calls. If you are in sales, see what goes into creating the next lead generation campaign. Regardless of where you work in the company, listen in on customer service calls. When the entire company works together toward a shared goal, it will become more effective and the brand will be stronger for it. A PIECE OF ADVICE FOR LEADERS… Raise the level of focus you have on connecting sales, marketing, and customer service. This is not a zero-sum game.   Running time: 32:45   Subscribe on iTunes   Find Tiffani on social: Facebook Twitter LinkedIn   Find Bill on social: LinkedIn Twitter

How can you use every moment as an opportunity to learn? What passion projects have you been working on during quarantine? In this episode, sales consultant, HAAS school graduate, avid cyclist, and aspiring chef Bill Conry shares his journey starting InTheKitchenWithBill.com, a compilation of simple, inexpensive recipes, comedy, food photos, and musings about life in quarantine. Bill was born in Philadelphia, PA, the middle of three boys. He went off to college at the University of Michigan where he studied Economics. Upon graduating Bill moved to Chicago to start his career in sales at a professional services firm - and also to extend the fun he had in college : ) After four years of working Bill was getting antsy in his role and had an opportunity to cycle across Europe - Turkey to Portugal - to raise money for a charity, so he jumped at it. It wound up being one of the most educational and powerful events of his life. He was hired back at the same company when he returned to work in a different role. After 8 years in Chicago Bill relocated to San Francisco for a change of pace and to attend business school part time at BerkeleyHaas, and eventually started working for LinkedIn in Sales Readiness for LinkedIn Learning. In 2018 he had the opportunity to move to Dublin, Ireland with work, which he viewed as an opportunity both professionally (e.g. working in an international office) and personally (e.g. meeting people from other countries and traveling), so packed his bags! He's lived in Dublin for 1.5 years. Find Bill online at https://www.inthekitchenwithbill.com/ Support this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/shake-the-cosmos-empower-your-vision/donations
