In Melbourne you might have picked up a book or a comic from a Jesus Christian outside Flinders Street Station, or you could have seen their religious graffiti messages along Sydney's railway lines. But while they portray themselves as an altruistic Christian community living life by faith and rejecting the money motivation of work, former members have been shunned and demonised, and parents tell heartbreaking stories of losing their relationship with their child after they have joined the Jesus Christians.Full research sources listed here. The media coverage of the Jesus Christians tends to outweigh their size. Most people who have heard of them recognise the name ‘The Kidney Cult', derived from an initiative where numerous members have donated one of their kidneys to a stranger. What may be surprising is that the person who first suggested that name was the Jesus Christians' founder himself, Dave Mckay.Part 2 is already available to Patreon supporters, and will be released on the main feed on Wednesday 25 December. So that God would be praised and those around us would see Jesus for who He really is.

Dr. Dennis Hall addresses the climate of this dislike, distrust, and hatred that exists in American society. He reviews the gradual movement of Democrats and Republicans along urban/rural and liberal/conservative lines, noting a large percentage of evangelical Christians have aligned with the Republican party. He notes that 40 years ago Democrats and Republicans felt okay about the opposing political party, but for the last four decades, political partisans have increasingly turned against each other. Leaders in both parties accuse the others of destroying our democracy and demeaning name-calling is commonplace among politicians. A discussion of how Christians have been caught up in this atmosphere of hate, being referred to as bigoted homophobic misogynistic xenophobic hatemongers who through their antiabortion activities wage a war on women. He points out that there is no comparison between the horrors of genocide against Christians around the world, but there is a quiet persecution of believers in the West. The question of, “Why are Christians hated so much?” is analyzed. Dr. Hall concludes that just like Jesus Christians of today make others uncomfortable due to their moral high ground. The podcast outlines Dr. Michael A. Milton's article, “3 Real Ways Christians Can Love Their Enemies.” Lesson one – Remember the concept of enemy is not a permanent state but a temporary position. Many who curse God today will be preaching his word tomorrow. Lesson two – We must realize that we, too, were once enemies of God. Lesson three – We love our enemies so that we might please the God who loved us. The podcast ends by reminding the listeners that Jesus is showing us how to love our enemies and teaching us why we must love them. Can also be seen on YouTube at: https://youtu.be/4GGp7ohlz-I

It was in Antioch where they first called the followers of Jesus — Christians. Never before and no where else in society had Jews, Gentiles, Men, Women, Poor and Rich gathered as one together. There were rigid social boundaries and distinctions drawn around these groups but the Church changed all of that. It became a unique expression of humanity, known for its worship of Jesus and for it's unity with one another. They Called Us Christians.  Galatians 2:11-16Acts 13:1Acts 11:262.19.2023 Message TakeawaysOur identity “in Christ” must inform all of our other identities.  When ethnicity is supreme in our lives, we struggle with Jesus being Lord of our lives.  We will be justified by faith in Christ then and we will be justified by faith in Christ now.

We alone cannot make this life all that it is meant to be. Jesus came to show us that life with Him &  in unity with the Father is the only way to live the fullest life imaginable.. Mark 10:46-52Big Ideas- This story is our clearest picture of discipleship- Discipleship isn't morals or knowledge. It's sitting down and crying out for help from Jesus.- Mercy is everything- The only people who receive mercy are the pitiful, the needy, the desperate.- That is where we need to practice being.- The people around Jesus tried to quiet the blind man, to keep him from Jesus.- The more we experience mercy, the more merciful we become. This is following Jesus.Questions- What do you think Jesus wants from you?- What is discouraging you from crying out to Jesus? What thought? What voice? What fear?- Have you ever experienced people around Jesus (Christians) trying to keep you from Jesus?- What would change if you started constantly shouting for mercy?- Have you decided to not pray for something because it's "unrealistic"?Try This- Ask yourself what you need from God that you can't do for yourself. - Ask a friend what they need from God that they can't do for themselves. - Ask God for those things.

So maybe the election hasn’t gone the way you wanted it to, or, maybe it has.  Either way, remember that our hope is not in a political party, our hope is in Jesus. Hi, I’m Paul here with today’s reminder.  Psalm chapter 20 verse 7 tells us that “Some trust in chariots, and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God.” While we should always strive to be good citizens, it’s important to remember that governments and politicians come and go. But Jesus is our hope, our strength, our salvation, our shelter, our guide and our King forever.  Jesus is the ultimate hope of this world and the true solution for all its troubles.  Let me pray for you,  Father, Keep us from being tempted from putting our hope in the wrong place. You didn’t leave us without hope. You so loved the world that you sent your Son to save us. Help us to always hold fast and trust in this truth.  In Jesus name we pray, amen.

Part 8 - SERIES: Uncertain Certainty There’s nothing like a good pandemic to make you seriously think about life and death in ways you haven’t before—forcing you to come to grips with the fact that your very life is uncertain. Including what happens after you die! Followers of Jesus (Christians) do not have different experiences in life than non-Christians (we still experience sickness, suffering, and death), but we do experience life and death differently. Birth and death take place a total of 3 times in every person’s life. 1. Every human being is born/conceived/created once. 2. Every human being dies once. 3. You get to choose which of those two you’ll do a second time. Born once, die twice. Born twice, die once.

People will wrong you. That’s life. However, we can’t expect God to be any less gracious with them because they’d offended us. That is inconsistent. Our God is NEVER THAT. Resting comes first—ceasing to try to save ourselves. Rather it is Jesus who took our sin upon Himself, dyed in our place, was buried, rose from the grave, and is seated at the right hand of the Father in heaven. Jesus’ work is complete, and now we rest in His work, ours being irrelevant. However, once safely resting in Jesus Christians strive to honor and glorify God via committing ourselves to the finished work of Jesus, growing up into the fullness of Christ, and seeking to do what He commands.

David Limbaugh is a lawyer, nationally syndicated columnist with Creators Syndicate, political commentator, and author of six New York Times bestsellers including Jesus on Trial and the #1 bestseller Crimes Against Liberty. The brother of radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh, he lives in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, with his wife and children. "Who do you say that I am?" Uttered by Jesus Christ, this profound question has presented an age-old challenge to believers, skeptics, scholars, and rulers. In attempting to answer this question, The True Jesus goes straight to the unimpeachable source: the books of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. Only in the Gospels, says #1 New York Times bestselling author David Limbaugh, do we come face-to-face with the Son of God, Whose sublime teachings, miraculous actions, and divine essence leap off every page and into our hearts. In this book, Limbaugh combines the four Gospel stories into a unified account (though not, he humbly admits, a perfect harmony) and guides readers on a faith journey through the Four Evangelists' testimonies of the life of Jesus Christ. Along the way, Limbaugh shares his insights on Jesus' words and deeds as well as His unique nature as fully human and fully divine. In The True Jesus, you will learn:  - Why even the apostles failed to completely understand Jesus' true identity and mission until after His crucifixion - The real basis for the rejection of Jesus' message by skeptics in His hometown and elsewhere - The historical events preceding Jesus' birth that providentially paved the way for Christianity  - How Jesus' message utterly contradicted modern attempts to portray Him as being non-judgmental

Wars everywhere - People claiming to be Jesus - Christians being murdered. Jesus told His disciples to expect this. And we should expect it as well. Why? Because this is the world in which we live. In today's lesson Jesus answers the first question about the coming destruction of the Temple. Along with the destruction, Jesus tells the disciples that they will be surrounded by trouble. But in the middle of all this trouble, there is hope. God will save and secure all those who believe on Him. Your Key Takeaway Jesus will save and secure those who believe on Him. The Truth False Messiahs - Luke 21:8 Wars and Rumors of Wars - Luke 21:9 Persecution - Luke 21:12-17 False Messiahs and wars are not signs of the end. Luke 21:9b Persecution becomes an opportunity to share the gospel.  Jesus will give the persecuted the words to say. Jesus will save and secure the persecuted. The Answer The answer to the disciples' first question is "When you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then know that the desolation is near." Luke 21:20-24 Timeline A.D. 66 - Jews revolt against Rome. A.D. 69 - Rome attacks Judea and surrounds Jerusalem.  This was led by Vespasian A.D. 70 - Titus attacks Jerusalem and the Temple is destroyed.  Josephus claims that 1.1 million were killed. A.D. 72 - Roman Colosseum started by Vespasian. It was finished in A.D. 80. 100,000 Jewish slaves were used in the construction. A.D. 81 - The Arch of Titus was constructed.   Time of the Gentiles The time of the Gentiles started in B.C. 588 with the Babylonian captivity of Jerusalem. It will end with the second coming of Jesus. Luke 21:24 As the time of the Gentiles comes to an end, God will save Israel. Romans 11:25-27  Closing Thoughts The promise to save and secure Israel and the persecuted is because they believed on Jesus. Do you believe Jesus died for your sins and rose again? If so you are saved and eternally secure.  Those that believe will find that all their questions about life are answered.  Christ, the cross, and the empty tomb is an answer to all our questions. In chapter five, after the apostles had been locked up for preaching about Jesus, and after the angel of the Lord had released them during the night and had told them, "Go, stand and speak to the people in the temple the whole message of this Life”, they went right back to the temple to again teach (or preach) to the people. The high priest had them brought back to stand once more before the Council and he said, "We gave you strict orders not to continue teaching in this name, and yet, you have filled Jerusalem with your teaching and intend to bring this man's blood upon us." Now, does this sound at all familiar to you? Doesn’t this go on today? Aren’t we told not to speak the name of Jesus? Christians are one of the only groups today that are discriminated against, and it’s perfectly fine with most of the world. What Peter and the other apostles said to the high priest and the Council should be an encouragement to us. They said, "We must obey God rather than men. 30The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom you had put to death by hanging Him on a cross. 31He is the one whom God exalted to His right hand as a Prince and a Savior, to grant repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins. 32And we are witnesses of these things; and so is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those who obey Him." Friends, they got the courage to do this from the same Holy Spirit that is in every believer today. Don’t be afraid to speak the name of Jesus and tell what He has done in your life and what He wants to do in the lives of every person alive. Be bold. Be strong. Do not obey those who would tell you to shut up. We answer to a higher authority. We answer to Almighty God! Your thoughts?

Why is an UNMARRIED couple traveling together as in Luke 2:4-5? What do you think of the argument that God speaking of "we" in Genesis is "the royal we"? What does that mean to have "little faith"? You suggested that Osama and Uthman are the same root name, but that doesn't seem to be true. In The Simpsons Reverend Lovejoy says the Bible does not allow us to go to the bathroom. Is there anything even remotely similar in the Bible? The Lemba should not be considered African Jews, at least not when compared to the Beta Israel (Ethiopian Jews) and the Falash Mura/Beta Abraham (Ethiopian Jews who converted within the last few centuries to Christianity). Is there any basis for the popular belief that, based on Psalm 46, Shakespeare helped translate the KJV? Is there any basis to the notion that the 12 disciples were young rabbinic school dropouts? Are there any church traditions related to the age of the disciples? What do you think is "early" for documents related to Jesus? Christians say God 1) loves mankind and cares for our eternal fate, 2) has issued rules we must follow to avoid damnation, and 3) possesses the absolute power to instantly and unambiguously convey these rules to each of us. Yet He gave His good news only to a dozen illiterate fishers and herdsmen in a remote desert tribe. We are then asked to believe He, in his compassionate power, oversaw the oral transmission, error-prone transcription, and fallible translation of contradictory gospels, leading to divergence and schism. What do you think? Is Genesis 27:5-25 a myth about a solar eclipse? The broad details of Abram going to Egypt during a plague, getting close to Pharaoh, being mixed up in some sexual impropriety, and God smiting the Egyptians with plagues (Gen. 12.10-20) is very similar to the descent of Israel to Egypt and of course the Exodus. Is it likely that this story of Abram was in time extrapolated to apply to the whole nation? What do you think of Madame Blavatsky's explanation of the rumor that Jews worshiped an ass-headed idol? King Herod asks the wise men when the star had appeared, so why doesn't Matthew tell us? Whence the notion of there being a trio of wise men? Why is Jesus called a "child" rather than a toddler once the wise men arrive? Could there have been another, older kid there? During the temptation of Jesus is Satan depicted as a villain? Whence the idea that Jesus was 30 years old? Why do none of the Egyptians seem to realize what's going on during the plagues? What are your thoughts about OT prophecies "of Jesus"? Why do Luke and Acts speak of both "the cross" and "the tree"? Just synonyms? Problems with the apologists' claim that "On that day you will surely die" means "On that day your eventual death becomes certain." Might the Nephilim of Genesis 6 have some connection with the Norse Niflheim? What do you make of Schmithals reading of 1 Cor 1:12? Is it possible that the John of Luke 1 and John the Baptist of Luke 3 are not the same Johns and that their conflation was accidental or half-accidental? Is it possible that Luke 1 was a later interpolation intended to establish the credentials of an early gospel writer named John? Is it possible that the Gospel of John was written specifically to capitalize on the reference to a prophet (not Baptist) John in Luke 1? Is it possible that Luke never meant to say that Jesus was born in a stable, since the underlying Greek word is kataluma, also used for the 'upper room' during the Last Supper?
