FEAR! IT'S WHAT'S FOR DINNER! JAMES GONIS, SHAWN SHERIDAN, LARRY STROTHE, and MATT WEINHOLD, prepare for the THANKSGIVING holiday by compiling the gruesome ingredients they'll need for history's most monstrous meal. Come shopping with us, won't you, as we load up on... FEARSOME FOOD!!! Last year, MONSTER PARTY presented you with the topic, DIABOLICAL DINNERS!!!: A celebration of the most uncomfortable and inappropriate gastronomic gatherings ever put on film. But what goes into those sinister soirees? What are the evil ingredients that are sure to send a Top Chef contestant packing their knives for protection? In this episode, expect dastardly dining that includes yucky yogurt, petrifying pies, nauseating number twos, raw rodent, mobile meat, cannibal crackers, Starfleet snacks, fiendish fungus, a carrot kook, and more! And since it's Thanksgiving, there's also a lot of arguing. Joining us for this creepy culinary confab is a dear friend of ours, and perennial guest. He's a terrifyingly talented actor, writer, artist, podcaster, and was the man who introduced us all to Chicken McNuggets and Shamrock Shakes! And for that, we our forever in his debt. Please welcome back our long-time monster kid pal... KEN DALY! (NERD POKER, STAN AGAINST EVIL, SUPER ADVENTURE TEAM, MR. MONSTER PARTY PRESENTS A DINNER WITH FIENDS! JAMES GONIS, SHAWN SHERIDAN, LARRY STROTHE, and MATT WEINHOLD, give thanks for all those genre characters with extremely questionable table manners. We hope you have the appetite for… DIABOLICAL DINNERS! With Thanksgiving just around the corner, many of you might be dreading that family dinner with your unpleasant relatives. But if you thought your uncle was crazy, listening to this episode should put things into perspective. We've got a venomous variety of aliens, oddballs, zombies, murderers, animated a-holes, a whole lotta cannibals, and more! And by more, we mean more cannibals. Helping us set the table for this gathering of ghastly gourmets, is a dear friend of the show, not to mention all of us. No stranger to good food, as a young TV pitchman, he introduced the world to McDonald's Chicken McNuggets, and the Shamrock Shake. He's a mega-talented writer, actor, podcaster, and fellow monster kid, who is like a member of the MONSTER PARTY family. We are as pleased as poisoned punch to welcome back the great… KEN DALY! (NERD POKER, STAN AGAINST EVIL, SUPER ADVENTURE TEAM, MR. SHOW WITH BOB AND DAVID, THE USUAL SUSPECTS, THE KARATE KID, QUINCY M.E., DUCK DODGERS, AND SO MUCH MORE!) WARNING: THIS EPISODE CONTAINS SPOILERS! PLEASE WATCH EVERY MOVIE WITH A WEIRD DINNER SCENE BEFORE LISTENING. MONSTER PARTY WOULD LIKE TO WISH YOU ALL A VERY HAPPY THANKSGIVING! BUT IF YOU'RE HAVING GRAVY… LEAVE SOME FOR THE REST OF US!

Thank you, Bill Heywatt! And greetings, honored soundcast listener! I am Marc Hershon, your every-other-weekly host, creator, and executive producer of this here Succotash, the Comedy Soundcast Soundcast. Special thanks to my erudite and unflappable alternating host of this show, Tyson Saner. Those who follow this show closely enough – is that you? – might have noticed that we missed dropping an episode a couple weeks ago, then Tyson picked up the slack last week with Epi315, which should have been my episode the preceding week. Following so far? Well, here's what happened. I was traveling for business. Not Succotash business but my day-job business, and I was clipping soundcasts while I was on the road. Listening to shows on planes, editing them in my hotel room,a nd trying to get it all together. Then I got “Delta shitty hand” – our keen-eared listener heard what I did there – and I had a flight cancel on the last leg before home. Not just before home, but before I could return to the Nerd Nest and my precious soundcasting equipment. Short story long, I couldn't get ‘er done in time to make it worth dropping for that week. It was going to be a show devoted to comedy sports soundcasts so I had to shelve that for a future show. And Tyson, bless his heart, reshuffled the show numbers so that in the box score that is the Succotash archives, no one will ever know that I screwed up. And now I owe my colleague one. Cash it in anytime, Tyson! If you happened to miss episode 315, entitled “the 3-Clip Tango”, Tyson featured snippets from a trio of comedy soundcasts which included The Winnebago Boys, Oxventure - A Dungeons & Dragons Podcast, and The Todd Glass Show. It was really a lovely roundup and I'd urge you to jump back a week in our feed and grab yourself an earful. Access that episode from your favorite soundcast dispensary, including – and I'm going to give you a pretty complete rundown here: Apple and Google Podcasts, Stitcher, Amazon Music, Audible, the Android app, Audacy, Blogger, Facebook, Gaana – not even sure what that is, iHeart Radio, the iPhone app, LinkedIn, Player.fm, PodBay, Pod Chaser, Radio Public, Soundcloud, Youtube, and now, after a lengthy boycott but now all is forgiven, back on Spotify. And, of course, every episode we've churned out over the last 11 and a half years can be scooped up in our archives at our homesite: SuccotashShow.com So now that I'm finally back in the saddle, what do I have in store for you for Episode 316, you might ask? Well, my sports comedy soundcast show I might do next time but for THIS week, as teased by Tyson at the end of the last episode, I have a Succotash Chat in store with none other than Blaine Capatch! Blaine is a standup comedian but oh, so much more. He's a writer, a sketch performer, a husband, a father, a son, and a druid. Well, he plays a druid on a soundcast we've featured here a few times over the years: Brian Posehn's Nerd Poker, a wonderfully funny and occasionally insane show where Brian, Blaine, and a clutch of other pals play Dungeons & Dragons. Before we get to the convo, I thought I'd set the stage a bit by playing a clip — since that's our main stock-in-trade here — from Nerd Poker and last week's action-packed episode. Beside Blaine and Brian, the rest of the cast includes Ken Daly, Sarah Guzzardo, Chris Tallman, dungeon Master Dan Telfer, and engineer Sam Kieffer. If you are unfamiliar with RPGs, that's Role Playing Games, and particularly Dungeons & Dragons, I can't help you. Well, I probably could – I've been playing since 1979 – but we just don't have the time. Blaine's and my acquaintanceship…acquantancy?… acquaintedness?… oes back a few decades to the San Francisco comedy scene which we talk about in our chat. All right. Without further ado, here is my chat with our special guest Blaine Capatch! Thanks to Blaine for jumping on the Zoomer with me for that. I would love to have the whole cast of Nerd Poker make their way in front of the Succotash microphones one of these days. Maybe I should Dungeon Master a game and invite them all to play! That could be cool and incredibly terrifying! One of the fun things their show features every week is, right after Dan Telfer thanks a bunch of their Patreon supporters, Blaine does a commercial from a variety of fake sponsors. Very much in the vein of our Henderson's Pants spots, but the advertisers are all different. Just to give you a sample, I went into their archives and slices out five different little ads he's read, and they sound a little like – no, actually, exactly like this… Blaine also makes funny, occasionally outrageous quips in real life, which you can can catch via his socials through his homogenous handles @BlaineCapatch on both Twitter and Instagram. In addition to NerdPoker.com, he's frequently a judge for Story Smash, the storytelling game show that's a spinoff of the Story Worthy soundcast from friend-of-the-show Christine Blackburn And, as he mentions look for him performing around LA in Lucha VaVOOM!, the burlesque and Mexican wrestling spectacular. Episode 316 is now officially over except for the outro and closing credits from Mr. Heywatt. Thanks again to our special guest this week, Blaine Capatch. Subscribe to us from any of your favorite places and Tyson Saner will be heading your way in this same feed next week with Epi317. My latest review in Vulture.com this Month in Comedy Podcasts, featuring Nikki Glaser guesting on Marc Maron's WTF is still up – there's a link to it up in the blog entry for this week's episode at our homesite SuccotashShow.com. And, other than that, if you happen to find a runaway dog wandering the streets and it seems friendly and you pick it up and read the ID tag and it reads, “Have you heard anything good lately?”, won't you please pass the Succotash? — Marc Hershon
MAY THE QUOTE BE WITH YOU! JAMES GONIS, SHAWN SHERIDAN, LARRY STROTHE, and MATT WEINHOLD, dive deep into their massive film libraries, to mine some the strangest sayings ever to be uttered in speculative fiction. Following in the frightful footsteps of our HORROR MOVIE QUOTES episode, MONSTER PARTY brings you a galaxy- spanning glossary that we've scientifically titled... SCI-FI MOVIE QUOTES!!! If you remember HORROR MOVIE QUOTES (with the lovely and charming KEN DALY), you know the drill. We all present quotes from well known (at least to us) science fiction films, and the rest of us try to guess what that film is. And if you think this was easy, think again. You'd be surprised at how a line taken out of context can confound even the most hardcore movie brainiac. Or maybe not! Maybe you're one of those special genre mutants, able to identify a sci-fi quote with your Cerebro-esque noodle. If so, we hope you use your powers for good. For this episode, we needed a guest with a vast knowledge of fantastic films that matched our own...well almost. He's a celebrated actor, producer, podcaster, voice artist, and friend of the show, who just happens to be the founder of BIF BANG POW! TOYS. Yep, we got our PATREON sugar daddy! Please welcome back... JASON LENZI! (POD STALLIONS, LIFE AFTER FLASH, IN SEARCH OF TOMORROW, CANNONBALL, WIPEOUT, AND ONE MORE TIME... BIF BANG POW! TOYS!!!) ONCE AGAIN, MONSTER PARTY PRESENTS A GAME THAT YOU CAN PLAY ALONG WITH AT HOME! AND AS USUAL, CLOTHING IS OPTIONAL.
Hello, Succotashians, wherever you may be! Can you believe we are into the last week of October, 2021 at this point? Before I get too far ahead of myself, I'm Marc Hershon, your host for this week's show Epi276, and I have got a humdinger of a show for you, as defined by the quartet of clips I have harvested. Before I reveal the lineup for this episode, did you miss our last episode, number 275, moderated by your every-other-weekly host, Tyson Saner? It was a fun ‘un, for sure, and featured clips from Dragon Talk, Cinemassacre Podcast, and Metaphysical Milkshake with Rainn and Reza. This week's installment has some overt team-ups, with Mike & Tom Eat Snacks and O'Brien & Bolt. Then there's subtler team-ups, as with the two hosts of The Projection Booth, and The Dana Gould Hour, where the host brings in a few pals to riff with him about horror movies. And this being Halloween week, we're sponsored by Henderson's Pants Deathly Hallowear. Protect your delicate treats from the ravages of Halloween miscreants! THE CLIPS Mike And Tom Eat SnacksFirst up is a warm welcome for the return of what was one of my favorite soundcasts back aways: Mike And Tom Eat Snacks. The hosts, Michael Ian Black and Tom Cavanagh hit episode 100 about 4 years ago and went on hiatus. Or hung up their snack shoes. Or who knows what but the important thing is that they are back! Armed with little more than their wits and their PER system – Pick a snack, Eat a snack, Rate a snack – these wisecracking jackanapes surround the most mundane of tasks – eating junk food – with the kind of very funny patter that you can only get with a couple of close friends who also happen to be pretty damn funny. Michael was part of The State, Wet Hot American Summer, and tons of other stuff, and Tom is currently best known for playing the many incarnation of Harrison Welles and the Reverse Flash on the CW's The Flash. Our clip is from their recent noshing on Walker's Shortbread. O'Brien & Bolt: The PodcastsTwo of the funniest guys I know are likely a pair of improv comics you may have never heard of outside the San Francisco Bay Area. Michael O'Brien and Geoff Bolt have forgotten more improv than I'll ever know, and I've been doing it for 35 years. There's a long history of improv groups in San Francisco, including the National Theatre of the Deranged, Spaghetti Jam, Improv Incorporated, Papaya Juice, and more – and these guys have either been in or jammed with all of them. They've started laying down some of their characters through improvised scenes as soundcast episodes in O'Brien & Bolt: The Podcasts, so I wanted to turn you onto them so you could track down their show. The clip we have on deck introduces us to third base coach Stumpy Wilson and some of his “inside baseball” wisdom. The Dana Gould HourWhen is an hour not an hour? When it's The Dana Gould Hour! The latest episode, “House of Halloweenery” runs a good two and a half hours…and I'm not complaining! Host Dana Gould is super-funny, off-kilter, and can get pretty dark. He did, after all, come up with the IFC show Stan Against Evil and it is a good barometer of Dana's sense of humor. In the latest episode of his soundcast, he starts out talking to Jeff Abraham and Burt Kearns, authors of “The Show Won't Go On!”, stories about performers who literally died on stage. This clip is from the back half of the show when he talks horror movies and more with friend-of-Succotash Matt Weinhold and Ken Daly, who I wish was a friend of the show. The Projection BoothI'm not sure The Projection Booth qualifies as a comedy soundcast per se but hosts Mike White and Rob St. Mary do have some differences of opinion when it comes to reviewing films that can get a little testy and, frankly, a lot funny. This clip is from a recent episode when the guys put the new Dune movie up against the Dune movie directed by David Lynch back in 1984. I was late getting this episode up and out this week, mainly because the power was out in Studio N, my Nerd Nook, because of the storms this past weekend in the Bay Area. So I couldn't harvest clips or get much of anything else done. So we had to dispense with the TweetSack this time around. And there were no calls into the Succotash Soundcast & Runaway Truck Status Hotline. Tyson Saner will be in this feed with your next week for Epi277 of Succotash, the Comedy Soundcast Soundcast, and I'll be back the week after that. In the meantime, have a great Halloween, wear a mask, get vaxxed and, if anyone asks if you've heard anything good lately, won't you please pass the Succotash? — Marc Hershon
Trick or treat indeed! It's that tiiiiiiime! And unlike last year, I think we're actually going to do it. Carefully indeed, but fingers crossed the kids can get out there and do some trick or treating. Every child has the right to an excellent Halloween, that's my motto. And so do you. And with that in mind, we've got a big ol Halloween Spooktacular, (yeah, I said it) for your listening enjoyment. We have two big interviews, like the olden times. First up, Jeff Abraham and Burt Kearns are here to discuss their book The Show Won't Go On, which is an excellent reference, it's an exhaustively researched reporting of the most shocking and bizarre deaths on stage by performers. Think there are one or two? There are over a hundred in here. Stuff I knew, stuff I didn't know, and stuff I didn't know about people I knew. The Show Won't Go On! An excellent show biz reference that no collection should be without and we're going to discuss it right here. Also, Ken Daly, longtime friend of this podcast and Matt Weinhold, the host of the great Monster Party podcast, are here with their 2021 horror movie recommendations and also, just to shoot the baloney and crack each other up because they are also two of my closest friends, so enjoy that, it's a great conversation. Lots of laughs. Oh, I love humor! https://DanaGould.com
QUOTE MONSTER PARTY... EVERMORE! JAMES GONIS, SHAWN SHERIDAN, LARRY STROTHE, and MATT WEINHOLD, unleash their brand new game on an unsuspecting public! Your horror movie knowledge will be put to the test, when we play a game modestly titled... HORROR MOVIE QUOTES!!! If you played along with any of our TAGLINES episodes, the gameplay is pretty much identical. Each of us offers up a anonymous quote (or several) from a horror film, and the rest of us try to guess which film it is from. Simple, yes? Were we good at it? Ummm... To do this topic justice, we wanted a guest who knows horror films as well as we do, not to mention someone we really liked! And we got just that! Joining us for this game of Terror-ivial Pursuit, is a celebrated actor, writer, producer, artist, and horror whisperer, with a literal lifetime resume of excellent work. Please welcome back a longtime friend of MONSTER PARTY... KEN DALY! (THE KARATE KID, QUINCY M.E., THE USUAL SUSPECTS, SUPER ADVENTURE TEAM, MR. SHOW WITH BOB AND DAVID, DUCK DODGERS, BE COOL SCOOBY DOO, STAN AGAINST EVIL, NERD POKER... AND HE'S THE GUY WHO INTRODUCED US TO THE "SHAMROCK SHAKE"!) WARNING: AFTER THE END MUSIC, THERE IS YET ANOTHER ROUND OF BICKERING OVER THE FILM, "GODZILLA VS. KONG." MAYBE KONG CAN LET THINGS GO, BUT APPARENTLY WE CAN'T.
Please join us for this week's episode of STAC Talks, our weekly radio show on WVOX Westchester. On today's episode Jac Tortoroli speaks to President Ken Daly and Dr. Bianca Wentzell about Environmental Global Warming Challenges and Actions
Ken Daly is one of those great characters within and around the town ball community. Ken has hooked up with several local ball clubs, serving as a guest PA announcer, building a collection of hats from each team, and rubbing elbows with locals around the grandstands, bleachers, and concession stands throughout central Minnesota. His appearance in the stands, a stranger wearing the home team hat, has caused many over the years to ask, "Who is that guy?" Hello and welcome to Succotash Shut-In, the Soundcast Stimulus Package, Episode 239. I’m your every-other-weekly host, Marc Hershon, and the chief purpose of this show – right after our prime directive: Entertaining YOU – is to support and promote comedy soundcasts AKA podcasts up, down, and across the internet. We started almost 10 years ago, in April of 2011, with the idea of spreading the word about soundcasts in general – which were having a little trouble gaining traction – and comedy soundcasts specifically because, well, we love comedy. And comedians. And the idea of being part of this exciting medium. Tyson Saner, who had stepped in for me as the regular host a few years ago, and I decided to start pumping out our show on a weekly basis for the first time since Succotash started. And we’ve been at that for nearly a solid year now. In fact, if you missed last week’s Epi238, entitled Clippin’s and Andy Dick, Tyson featured clips from a trio of soundcasts including the Jock Doc Podcast, Battle of the Bald, and Trashy Trashy. In addition, he had a quick chat with comedian/actor and professional gadabout Andy Dick. You can still hear the show via Apple and Google Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher, the Laughable app, iHeart Radio or even at our homesite, SuccotashShow.com! This week it’s my turn back in the barrel and I thought it would be fun to go a bit “niche-y”. For many years — many MANY years, actually — I have been an inveterate player of Dungeons & Dragons, a popular version of what’s known more broadly as a tabletop role-playing game. Since the early 1970s, players have gotten together around a table, created various versions of fantasy fiction characters – like knights, wizards, and thieves – and played them in a variety of adventures all over seen by a kind of referee or Dungeon Master, if you will. The DM, as they’re known, basically runs the world in which the characters live and establishes the adventures these folks pursue in hopes of gaining treasure, defeating monsters, rescuing maidens, etcetera. During the past year, a lot of gaming groups – including mine - have had to adapt to the pandemic restrictions just like everyone else. And through online resources like Zoom, Skype, D & D Beyond, and Roll20.net, they have kept right on adventuring. There are a number of soundcasts dedicated to role playing – not just Dungeons and Dragon – and they have been able to muddle through. Some using programs and websites like I just mentioned and some have actually created socially distanced and safe studio space in order to keep playing in person. I wanted to give you a taste of what this somewhat different soundcast experience is like, so I went questing for a quartet of clips from The Adventure Zone, AllD20, Critical Role, and Nerd Poker. This episode is brought to you by longtime sponsor Henderson’s Pants and their new Scavenger Slax! Are you ready? Adventure…awaits! Nerd PokerOne of my favorite shows in the RPG genre is Nerd Poker, featuring a bunch of comedians and writers. The ringmaster is Brian Posehn, and the regular crew of campaigners include Blaine Capatch, Sarah Guzzardo, Ken Daly, Chris Tallman, and Dungeon Master Dan Telfer. We last featured these guys back in 2017 on Epi153 and, if I had my druthers, I would play with this group of lunatics. With so many jokers around the table (or the Zoom gallery), the adventures tend to move along fairly slowly because these guys are always breaking each other up. In this clip it take almost five minutes for Brian to get around to having his character – a monk named Donny – get around to swinging his sword on the enemy. AllD20The AllD20 soundcast is one I just started listening to and, while they’re a little bit more into their characters than the Nerd Poker folks, they still can’t help collapsing into cascades of laughter once in a while. It’s the nature of the game, as you know if you’re had a chance to play. They’re a D&D group in Las Vegas but they play in a homebrew world called Avlonia. I can’t find a listing for the cast but they introduce themselves and the characters they play at the top of every episode and they are having a ball. In this clip, the characters have been on trial and judgement is just now being passed on them… Critical RoleI am just scratching the surface of the role playing genre of soundcasts with this episode. Hard to do it all justice with just four clips and there are tons more games than just D&D. But there’s no way I can talk about this type of show without spinning a few minutes of Critical Role, a show that has a HUGE following and rightfully so. The entire crew, from the DM through all the players are, as they say at the top of each episode, “a bunch of nerdy-ass voice actors”, and they get to strut their stuff every week for between 3 and 4…sometimes even 5 hours of game play. Matthew Mercer is highly regarded for his skills as a Dungeon Master, because of his storytelling and worldbuilding skills as well as his characterizations. You see, one of the job of the DM is to portray all of the various characters that the player’s characters meet during the course of their adventures. And the cast is wonderful: Marisha Ray, Laura Bailey, Liam O’Brien, Sam Riegel, Travis Willingham, Ashley Johnson, and Taliesin Jaffe round out the current campaign. I picked a clip from a recent episode where the adventurers who go by the name The Mighty Nein, are in the midst of fighting an ancient white dragon… The Adventure ZoneThe last show I’m clipping in this genre for this episode has ventured away from strictly playing Dungeons and Dragons but it’s manned by soundcast favorites the McElroys. Their list of shows is crazy, including My Brother, My Brother, and Me, Sawbones, Bunker buddies, Schmanners, The Besties, Can I Pet Your Dog? and a TON more. The shows are hosted by one or more of the McElroy brothers, their wives and even their dad, Clint, who is a key part of The Adventure Zone, along with brothers Travis, Justin, and Griffin, who serves as the DM for the games. I haven’t been following regularly so I’m not sure how they’ve ended up where they are today but it seems to be some kind of school and in this clip, the crew is bent on wreaking havoc in the name of justice…or something. Thanks you for letting me let my nerd flag fly high today. I’m going to give a shout out to the Demonbane, which is the name of the fellowship the players I DM every week call themselves. Remember that you can find links to shows and most of the people in them that we’ve mentioned here on Succotash Shut-In at the blog for this episode on our homesite, http://SuccotashShow.com. Tyson will be here next week with an array of soundcast clips for you in Episode 240. And I’ll see you the week after that. In the meantime, remember to socially distance, wear a mask, wash your hands and, if anyone asks if you’ve heard any good soundcasts lately, please remember to pass the Succotash! — Marc Hershon
JUST WHEN YOU THOUGHT IT WAS SAFE TO OPEN A BOOK ABOUT SCIENCE FICTION, FANTASY, OR HORROR MOVIES... JAMES GONIS, SHAWN SHERIDAN, LARRY STROTHE, and MATT WEINHOLD, return to their extensive genre film guidebook libraries, for another round of America's fast growing game of chance! Beware MONSTER PARTIERS, for... THE MAD MOVIE SMACKDOWN WALKS AMONG US!!! Once again, the boys randomly flip through various film reference books like THE PYSCHOTRONIC ENCYCLOPEDIA TO FILM, and THE CREATURE FEATURES MOVIE GUIDE. When their cocktails tell them the moment is right, they stop on a page, blindly stab a finger at an entry, and discuss said entry. What ensues, can only be described as... life affirming! Returning to MONSTER PARTY and THE MAD MOVIE SMACKDOWN, is an old friend who is a writer/actor/producer, and the man who made SHAMROCK SHAKES sexy... KEN DALY! (NERD POKER, STAN AGAINST EVIL, THE SUPER ADVENTURE TEAM, DUCK DODGERS, MR. SHOW WITH BOB AND DAVID, QUINCY M.E., THE KARATE KID) Try playing this game yourselves! It may just save your marriage. NOTE: During this episode, we experienced a cocktail versus soundboard incident. So if you hear any fluctuations in sound quality, blame Matt Weinhold.

In this in-depth conversation, Ken describes how he steered the company to infiltrate global e-commerce platforms such as Amazon and eBay, discusses how TV advertising has helped to double the size of the business, and reveals that he will be featuring on Channel 4’s ‘Buy It Now’ entertainment show celebrating British innovation and inventions.
HOLY TOPIC, MONSTER PARTIERS! JAMES GONIS, SHAWN SHERIDAN (kind of), LARRY STROTHE, and MATT WEINHOLD, take a totally biased look at those struggling second bananas, doing what they can to get their fair share of the spotlight. Feast your ears on... THE BEST & WORST SIDEKICKS!!! Joining us once again is a writer, producer, and performer, who as a child actor, introduced the world to Chicken McNuggets! He's more than just a guest, he's MONSTER PARTY family. Please welcome back... KEN DALY! (THE KARATE KID, THE USUAL SUSPECTS, SUPER ADVENTURE TEAM, MR. SHOW, DUCK DODGERS, STAN AGAINST EVIL) In this episode, we not only dissect what it takes to make a good & bad sidekick, we lament the absence of a sidekick of our own. Due to a medical emergency, SHAWN SHERIDAN regretfully had to miss the recording this episode. However, he did manage to provide us with his own "Best & Worst Sidekick" list, straight from his hospital bed! Shawn's perfectly fine now, but not having him on the mic, showed us just how much we need him. That being said, Ken, you're resume was very impressive. LONG LIVE SHAWN SHERIDAN!!!
This time, MONSTER PARTY does it by the book! JAMES GONIS, SHAWN SHERIDAN, LARRY STROTHE, and MATT WEINHOLD, have created a game more challenging than the one where they see who can be the first to get so drunk, they can't say the word, "shapeshifter." It's... THE MAD MOVIE SMACKDOWN!!! The rules are simple: We pick a genre movie guidebook like, The Psychotronic Encyclopedia of Film, or John Stanley's Creature Feature Movie Guide; close our eyes, flip through the pages, and randomly jab our fingers at a film entry. Whatever come up...we have to discuss! No matter how obscure, or awful it is. Sounds fun, right? RIGHT?!!! Joining us for this terrifying game of nerd Russian Roulette, is returning friend of the show, actor/writer/dungeon master... KEN DALY! (THE KARATE KID, MR. SHOW WITH BOB AND DAVID, DUCK DODGERS, NERD POKER, STAN AGAINST EVIL) WARNING: If you plan on playing this game at home, please drink somewhat irresponsibly.
A funny thing happened on the way to this podcast. I had recorded the first interview, with podcaster and LA comedy gadfly Mike Carano. I then recorded interview #2, with comedian Valerie Tosi. Valerie and I both grew up in Massachusetts and we started talking about, among other things the Jerry Lewis Labor Day Telethon, which always signaled to end of summer vacation. After we recorded the interview, I thought, you know, I should write the middle piece about Jerry Lewis. He's a pretty interesting dude. And then, I went to bed, and woke up in the morning and learned that Jerry Lewis had died. Oy. Hope it wasn't me. In any event, although I have never met Jerry, I did see him in what must have been one of his last public appearances here in LA. But, I know people who know Jerry, so I made a couple phone calls and got them over here. So with apologies to Valerie Tosi, who will be appearing next month, my guests today are... The brilliant and hilarious Mike Carano. If you are a fan of comedy, you may not know him, but every comedian you know knows him. Also, director Steve Kessler, who directed Vegas Vacation, The Independent and Paul Williams Still Alive. And writer director Rob Cohen. I squatted in Rob's office at The Ben Stiller Show in 1992 and we've been friends ever since. Rob has directed SPEECHLESS, MARON, and half of season 2 of STAN AGAINST EVIL. Also, actor, writer artist and Jerry Lewis expert, Ken Daly is here. As far as I'm concerned, come see me. Live appearance info is at http://DanaGould.com/events
Yes, it’s me. Marc Hershon. Your host and corporeal being for Epi153 of Succotash, the Comedy Soundcast Soundcast. And this is another installment of Succotash Clips, where we feature clips of comedy soundcasts from all over the place. As far as this epi goes, we’ve got clips coming up in this installment from Chillpak Hollywood Hour, Crazytown, The David Feldman Show, Harmontown, The Jackie & Laurie Show, Nerd Poker, Nerds with Words, PTO Unlimited, and Studio 60 Sessions. In addition, we also have a double dose of our Burst O’ Durst segment, featuring political comedian and social commentator Will Durst. And this episode is brought to you by Henderson’s Pants CoverALLs. Big thanks our Associate Producer Tyson Saner for harvesting half of the shows you’re going to hear on this episode – he does a great job finding new shows for this show and he also has his own soundcast, The Anti Social Show, along with Hunter Block, who is also a friend of this show. They just got their show up on iTunes so check ‘em out there, or on SoundCloud. Speaking of iTunes, if you’d like to be a friend of this show as well and have not yet rated and reviewed Succotash on iTunes, please do so. It doesn’t cost you a cent and it really helps our visibility in Soundcastland. For that matter if you listen to us on the Laughable app, or Stitcher, or SoundCloud, it would be great if you’d rate us using whatever system they’ve got going on. Same goes for YouTube and iHeart Radio, two more fab spots to hear our spew. WELCOME US TO PATREON I just popped the top on our new Succotash Patreon account. That’s right, we're now part of the Patreon soundcast life support system. I’m not quite sure what I’m doing with it yet, so I think the only option currently available is for you to kick us $1 a month, for which we will thank you every show in our Calvalcade of Gratitude. And I also think there’s a thing that’s live that if we get 250 followers on Patreon, I will commit to churing out an episode each and every week on a regular release day. So check out that page at https://www.patreon.com/succotash THE CLIPS The David Feldman ShowA soundcast that’s been around for a while in various forms is The David Feldman Show. David is a former standup comedian who I’ve known since he first got on stage in the San Francisco area. He took off years ago, heading for LA and then New York, where he’s been a writer on a bunch of TV shows. He’s been a guest on Succotash before – back in Epi108 – and I tickled that he asked me to be on his show just a couple of weeks ago. Chillpak Hollywood HourNormally for our friends in soundcasting, Dean Haglund and Phil Leirness, of Chillpak Hollywood Hour fame, I reserve playing clips unless they’re mentioning me because I’m just that self-absorbed. But a couple of weeks back the boys were on the road across the great US of A – Dean was even in the country from Australia where he’s been living the past couple of years – and they were at a Famous Monsters convention in Dallas, Texas. And they were not alone but, instead, sat down with Bruce Harwood and Tom Braidwood, the two actors who had co-starred with Dean as the trio known as The Lone Gunmen, first on The X-Files TV show and then for a season in their spin-off, The Lone Gunmen. HarmontownOne of Tyson Saner’s picks for this episode is from a soundcast that we’ve featured before but it’s always a delight to drop in and see what latest bits of outrageousness are going on over in Dan Harmon's Harmontown. In this case, the clip we have is from back in March, when Harmontown had been annexed to Austin, Texas, as part of South By Southwest. Harmon was on hand along with Jeff Davis and Spencer Crittendon. Nerd PokerAt the end of April this year, a version of the defunct Nerd Poker with Brian Posehn & Friends soundcast snuck back into Soundcastland. Now called Brian Posehn’s Nerd Poker, it’s not network affiliated any more and so rather than being recorded in the Earwolf Studios, the action happens in Brian Posehn’s home in LA. The DM is Dan Telfer and, in addition to Brian, the players include Brian, Blaine Capatch, and Ken Daly, all of whom were in the original crew. We feature a slice from a recent episode where the characters are fighting something that might just be a werewolf. Crazy TownIt may be called Crazy Town, but the host, Jonaas, takes pains on the homesite to make sure no one’s offended by things that happen on the show – here’s part of his disclaimer: “Let me be serious with everyone for a second. This podcast is all about having fun and being goofy and poking fun at things. Nothing should be taken super serious, and the hosts and anyone else involved in this podcast are great people who have no prejudices of any sort, in any way, shape or form. This podcast is a work of fiction, please keep that in mind even though real life events and stories are discussed. If anyone is offended or feels that they have been wronged, let us please apologize up front as that is not our intent in any way, shape or form.” Make you really curious what you’re about to hear though, right? The Jackie & Laurie ShowWe get a glimpse into the glamorous show biz lives of Jackie Kashian and Laurie Kilmartin. Jackie has had her Soundcast, The Dork Forest, for years now, but she and Laurie teamed up last year to put out The Jackie & Laurie Show, which is usually the two hosts talking about performing in comedy as woman, the state of comedy today, and reminiscing about various hell gigs over the years. But Laurie was a recent guest on Conan and so, in an episode entitled Show Yourself Out, she and Jackie headed backstage just before that appearance to do their show from there. (Producer's Note: Our host f'd up royally in this episode and called the show "Show Yourself Out". The dork has even reviewed Jackie and Laurie's soundcast before so I…er…he should have known better…) Nerds With WordsTyson snipped us off a hunk of a soundcast called Nerds with Words, featuring Adam Nutter and Greg Trout. It’s not to be mistaken with, or for, Nerdz with Wordz where the esses in "nerds" and "words" are spelled with a z. Totally different soundcast. Our clip is from a recent show featuring guest Joe Messina,a comedian and soundcaster who just shut down his show Breaking Up with Joe, where he recounted the details of a painful breakup he had gone through. He has a stage show called Party Lines and we pick up here mid-discussion about that show. PTOUnlimitedAnother “new to us” soundcast is PTO Unlimited, hosted by Brett, Josh, and Alyx. The PTO part – I think – comes from “paid time off” and the Unlimited part is from the fact they will talk about unlimited topics. Their SoundCloud page says there are from “Fort Wayne, United States.” I’m guessing that’s in Indiana, too. Anyway, Tyson flipped us this clip, where the hosts kick around the movie Ghost Ship from 2002. The Studio 60 SessionsAn old friend of Succotash is Travis Clark. He and his wife, Brandi, had their soundcast, Tiny Odd Conversations, up and running for quite some time. I think TOC is offcially in the Soundcast Graveyard now, as their last episode was posted in March of last year, but Travis popped up this last week as the first guest on a new soundcast called The Studio 60 Sessions. Another fine example of niche programming, this show is devoted to a TV show called Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, which was on NBC over a decade ago. (You can find the series on Amazon and other online places. It seems Travis had been a fan of the show and he joins Studio 60 Sessions host Dave Amiott to chat about the pilot episode of the TV show. CLOSING REMARKS If you're a comedy soundcaster and would like us to feature your show on our show, you can get us a 3-5 minute MP3 clip (no promos, please!) by uploading it directly to me via our direct upload link, at http://hightail.com/u/Succotash. And please tell us a little about you and the show itself, including the homesite, distribution points, etc. Our next epi will likely be an installment of Succotash Chats, with a surprise guest who's actually making his fourth appearance on the show! Until next time, thanks for passing the Succotash! — Marc Hershon
Ever watch Innerspace and wish you could be inside Martin Short’s nose while he died of a sinus infection? Well you're about to find out as a monstrously congested Ken Daly somehow manages to fellate the microphone without anyone else noticing or stopping him. Sorry about that, for real. Oh, and also the party delves deep into the castle of Count Ahmelegdha, hoping to free his servants and get all the credit for it. Will they survive the cellar halls? Will Ken spring for some antibiotics? Only time will tell.
LIVE in Los Angeles @riotla with Dana Gould (@DanaGould), Ken Daly (@unclegoopy) and Matt Weinhold (@mattweinhold). The talk turns to Star Wars, Star Trek and MANY actors I’ve never heard of… it’s awesome. Enjoy. The track playing here is the, normally, free bonus track of Andy and I discussing the show. And, as always here is a clip of the show: So it’s $2 for the whole thing on The recording cuts off. At 58minutes. UG. SO I can record a closing statement (heh) and use applause from the beginning at the end again? HMM. GRR. NOTES: (Podcast: The Dana Gould Hour) (Podcast: Monster Party) Ken Daly ( on Instagram @unclegoopy) WELCOME to year TEN of TDF I have an hour comedy special out called “This Will Make An Excellent Horcrux” because my soul is in it. You can download it here: or get the DVD on my site. You can also get a dork forest tshirt or any of my CDs or DVD at USE THE AMAZON banner when you order your own dorky goodness.
We did it. It's the first episode of The Dana Gould Hour podcast for 2016 and we juuuust missed January but when I tell you I had homework this month, I had homework. But everything's getting turned in on time and hopefully, we'll have some cool stuff to announce in the not too distant future. Lots of stuff coming up this year including my new special and album, tentatively entitled Mighty Mouth. More about that in the not-too-distant future, where, as Elvis Costello sang, everything will be free. This is kind of a special episode. I saw Star Wars and had very mixed emotions about it. Nothing to do with the movie, but my reaction to it was somewhat strange, and so I have, quite bluntly, my two closest friends in the word on to talk about it -- Ken Daly and Rob Cohen. But, since we know each other SO well I was afraid the conversation would devolve into a series of grunts and eye-rolls, we brought in a ringer, comedian Dan Telfer, who's CD Ocean Of Panic, you can buy. Dan is a Star Wars-knowin' motherfucker and it's a deep dish conversation that goes to some surprising places and I think you'll enjoy it. Also, the always hilarious and entertaining April Richardson is here (@APEY) and her partner in crime and comedy, life and love (but not really) Chris Fairbanks, (@ChrisFairbanks).And as for ME? The movie Southbound hits theaters and I believe VOD in Feb. 5th. Called "A cinematic miracle" by Roger Ebert.com, Southbound a is terrific little horror movie if you like that sort of thing, so go git it. Feb 18, 19 and 20th, 2016 I will be at The Comedy Bar in Toronto, Ontario. I will be at The Wheeler Opera House in Aspen on March 11, 2016 and Helium in Portland, Oregon, land of food trucks, on March 24, 25 and 26th, 2016. Welcome to Epi94 of Succotash, the Comedy Podcast Podcast. This is the podcast where we feature clips of other comedy podcasts to help you to try and sort through the, literally, thousands of comedy podcasts you could be listening to when you fancy a comedy podcast or two. Since I’m always skimming the podwaves, listening to what’s out there (I also review podcasts as part of This Week in Comedy Podcasts for Splitsider.com and on the Huffington Post as well – I know a number of podcasts have taken time out to mention the tragic death of Robin Williams in the past month. Joan Rivers, too. But Robin in particular seemed to touch a nerve across the board with his passing. I spoke about it a bit last episode. I knew Robin some, having grown up in the same area – Marin County – as well as going to the same high school and junior college just a few years behind him. And I had the opportunity to do improv with him on stage a number of times as well as just hangout with him from time to time. So I’ve had my say, really. (Although, if you’d like to see something I’ve written on it, I have a remembrance of Robin and his connection to Marin County that's up on the blog for Marin Magazine here.) Our associate producer Tyson Saner came up with a great idea and that is to give you a smattering of what some of the other podcasters have been saying about Robin. I said, “Go for it!” and he went out into Podcastland and clipped an even dozen different shows and that’s what our show this episode is going to be about. Tyson asked if I would relax our usual policy of playing only three to five minute long clips. I thought that was an appropriate request, given the nature of what we’re doing here. So some of these are pretty long. Hope you don’t mind (and I hope the hosts of the shows we’re playing these from don’t mind us taking a bit more of a liberty that usual…) I know theres been a lot of about Robin's life – and his death – since his tragic suicide a month or so ago on August 11th. Maybe you’re tired of hearing about it. I can understand that, but he was a personal acquaintance of mine and a great friend to San Francisco comedy, not to mention a global icon. But if this sort of tribute is too heavy or not you cup of tea, I get it. Feel free to give this episode a pass if you want, but you’re going to miss some great words spoken about a comedian, actor, father, husband and friend who was truly beloved. Also In This Episode We still have our usual roundup of the stuff we like doing, like our Burst O’ Durst segment with comedian & social lampooner Will Durst (It's actually a double dose o' Durst this episode!), a classic Henderson’s Pants commercial, our Tweetsack segment, and an extra big clip mention/clip/message from the Chillpak Hollywood Hour with Dean Haglund and Phil Leirness. Plus our exclusive feature that we like to call… The 10 Most Active Shows In Stitcher's Top 100 Comedy Podcast List We're not satisfied just to look at the top 10 shows on the list of Top 100 comedy podcasts over at Stitcher - mostly because those rarely change. Instead, we like checking out the shows that are moving the most up OR down the charts. Here's how they looked this past week… AT MOVED39 The Cracked Podcast +1142 Bertcast’s Podcast -1047 SModcast >> Edumacation +1860 The Brian & Jill Show - 769 The Champs with Neal Brennan & Moshe Kasher - 779 WMMR’s Preston & Steve Podcast - 783 Fernando & Greg’s Daily Podcast +3891 Straight Outta Lo Cash + 796 The Mick Bettencourt Show - 898 NYC Crime Report w/Pat Dixon +12 Latest Podcast Reviews This past week on Splitsider.com, as part of This Week In Comedy Podcasts, I reviewed The Louie Anderson Podcast Epi5, "Robin Williams: A Friend and Legend Remembered", which was chock full of comedians' remembrances of Robin. That same review appears on the Huffington Post. World Premiere of 3 Still Standing The documentary film that I've been mentioning on Succotash, entitled 3 Still Standing, is about to make its debut in the fairly prestigious Mill Valley Film Festival! I did a bit of bheind the scenes work, some consulting and even some on camera stuff for this movie, which take a look at the San Francisco comedy scene, from the early 1980s through present day. It does by examining the lives and careers of a trio of working comedians: Our own Will Durst, past guest Larry "Bubbles" Brown, and Johnny Steele. The movie's premiere is set for Saturday, October 4th, 5 PM, at the Sequoia Theater in downtown Mill Valley, California. Then, at 8 PM, just down the street at the 142 Throckmorton Theatre, I will be hosting the 3 Still Standing Live On Stage comedy show with the three comics, the film's directors and producers, and more. If you're interested in tickets, hop on over to the film festival's online box office at http://MVFF.com The Clips The Christopher Titus PodcastWe start the clips off with a slice from the top of The Christopher Titus Podcast, the section Chris Titus calls “The Armageddon Update”. This was cut just two days after Robin moved along, and you can hear the emotion in Chris’ voice as he talks about his personal hero. The Evil Teddy Bear PodcastIn the clips we have for this episode about Robin, there's only this one in which we hear from a woman. The host of The Evil Teddy Bear Podcast, Korey Epps, did his own Robin tribute and one of the people who spoke was actress Stephanie Erb. (We get a lot of Twitter love and support for our show from Korey, so thanks as always for passing the Succotash!) The Nick Di Paolo PodcastI like that we’re getting a chance to hear from some podcasts we’ve not had a chance to clip so far in the two and a half years that Succotash has been plying the podwaves. The Nick Di Paolo Podcast is one of those. Nick Di Paolo a great comic, a very real guy, and his Epi42 was entitled R.I.P. Robin Williams. About Last NightNick Di Paolo’s not much of a Mrs. Doubtfire fan but someone who is? Adam Ray, co-host of the About Last Night podcast with Brad Williams. (BTW, I just met Brad for the first time a couple of weeks ago, at the first comedy show that was done after Robin’s death at the 142 Throckmorton Theatre in Mill Valley. He's San Francisco-bound to take over morning drive duties on KITS 105.5 FM. Good luck, Brad!) The Smartest Man In The WorldHere are some wonderful remembrances from Greg Proops, host of The Smartest Man In The World podcast. I know Greg very well from being in an improv group with him in San Francisco before he got onto Whose Line Is It Anyway. And we’ve both done stage work with Robin, separately and together. This was recorded while Greg was over at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Nerd PokerWe have another tribute from some more of Robin's hometown boys. This was at the end of an episode of Nerd Poker with Brian Posehn & Friends. In this case, Brian Posehn, Blaine Capatch and Ken Daly, along with guest Dave Anthony, talk about their memories of Robin. Everyone chatting here except Ken really got their comedy chops in San Francisco and so crossed paths with Robin a number of times. The Chong & Chong ShowOne of the clips Tyson grabbed is from a podcast by a comedian who’s been in the game longer than Robin by more than half a decade. Tommy Chong, along with his son Paris Chong, hosts The Chong & Chong Show. And we have Tommy giving his perspective on Robin. This Week with Larry MillerLarry Miller, host of This Week with Larry Miller, prefaced his thoughts about Robin by talking about Lauren Bacall. Larry has got to be one of the classiest guys in comedy and he had a narrow brush with death himself a couple of years ago when he took a fall and smacked his head pretty badly. Here’s his take on Robin… Stuck In The 80sHere’s a clip from a show we’ve never featured before – Stuck In the 80’s. It’s all 80‘s stuff all the time – movie, TV, music, pop culture – and host Steve Spears and his rotating pool of co-hosts dive into the “Reagan Era” with gusto. Robin Williams is a personality who transcended 40 years of show business and our culture and the 80’s was a big chunk in the middle of that. HarmontownDan Harmon, the creator of TV’s Community as well as Adult Swim’s Morty & Jack, is the mayor of Harmontown, a live podcast, aided by his Comptroller Jeff Davis. Harmon and Jeff had a few things to say about Robin recently. The Todd Glass ShowHere’s some personal memories of running into Robin by Todd Glass on his The Todd Glass Show podcast, along with his guests Ian Karmel and Rob Gleeson. Miller TimeThe last Robin clip we have this episode is from Dennis Miller, who has been doing Miller Time, a daily radio show/podcast, for years now. As a major comedy fixture and trained observer of pop culture and society at large, his is a particularly moving reminiscence of Robin. Thanks to all the hosts and guest of the podcasts we clipped this episode to make this special Rememberin' Robin episode happen. Our next episode we'll be back with an interview with The Amazing Johnathan, as well as clips from more comedy podcasts from around the internet! Until, then, please remember to pass the Succotash! — Marc Hershon
Dungeons & Dragons vs. Dungeons and Bondage! Whose fantasy life is better? Tom Hanks' anti-cult film, Blaine Capatch, Ken Daly, April Richardson, Scott Robison and former dominatrix "GUEST X." Plus Two Guys from Boston and much, much, more!
Welcome to our first full-fledged episode of the New Year. We've got nine podcast clips for you, plus a lovely novelty tune, Undead Love Song, by friend-of-Succotash John Anealio. (Off his album Laser Robot Zombie Love, available at http://JohnAnealio.com.) And yet the show comes up a little short, timewise, this week. Maybe it's because we're missing our usual Burst O' Durst with political punwit Will Durst. (Durst's on vacay but will be back next epi...) Anyway, because the show runs a little shorter than usual, you might actually catch the little "extra" I began tagging onto the very end of the show starting with the previous episode. It's an idea I shamelessly stole from our friend Jabs of The DHead Factor — I started taking the audio track from videos on YouTube that feature recipes for succotash. This week's is a doozy: Daphne Oz and Tom Arnold make "Summerin' Succotash" on ABC's The Chew. Enjoy! THE COUNTDOWN Epi46 also marks the start of our Top 10 Comedy Podcast countdown, as tabulated weekly by Stitcher Smart Radio. It turns out that comedy podcasts up there at the top of the heap don't move around a whole lot, so unless you guys want to basically have me read the following list every week, it will behoove us all to get over to Stitcher and start listening and rating our favorites. Here's how this week looks: 10. Ari Shaffir’s Shark Tank9. Doug Loves Movies8. DeathSquad7. SModcast6. Mohr Stories5. The Nerdist4. NPR: Car Talk Podcast3. WTF with Mark Maron2. The Adam Carolla Show1. The Joe Rogan Experience THE CLIPS That's about all I have to share with you guys. Maybe if someone wrote in once in a while with questions or beefs or something, we'd get a little going here. Instead, here's who we have ready to serve up for your listening pleasure in this epi: Dazed & ConvictedAs (belatedly) promised, our lead-off clippage this show is from Monica Hamburg's new Dazed & Convicted podcast, with her equally new co-host, Bill Allman. Longtime Succotashians know Monica from S & M Rants, but she's rebooted the concept and their new show focuses on stories from the news featuring what Monica refers to as “criminal fucktards”. Nice. Ten Minute PodcastLooking for a quick blast from Podcast Land? Listen no further than the Ten Minute Podcast. It’s three funny guys – Will Sasso, Bryan Callen (both from MAD TV) and Chris D’Elia (from Whitney), and they're happy just to be shootin’ the shit and being funny. Mohr StoriesMohr Stories is the flagship podcast at Jay Mohr’s podcast network, FakeMustache.com. I’ve been wanting to clip his podcast for a while now and then, when I heard Bryan Callen in the Ten Minute Podcast we are also featuring this epi, I thought what a great segue! Royal & DoodallThey're back! You can’t escape the Pod Mafia — even though I recently played something from these two "made men" – Tommy Royal and Angus Doodall – I just HAD to play this next clip because it features…me. It’s from the R&D Christmas Panto show, where they had various members of the Pod Mafia from around the world record lines for this holiday audio play, then they stitched the whole thing together like a Christmas goose. I am truly humbled and honored that Royal and Doodall asked me to join in their reindeer games. Nerd PokerComedian Brian Posehn, who you may know from the Sarah Silverman Show, just started hosting a podcast over on the Earwolf network called Nerd Poker. Which is a euphemism for Dungeons & Dragons or D&D as it is often called. The show is Brian and a handful of funny friends, including Blaine Capatch, Ken Daly, Gerry Duggan, and Sarah Guzzardo, who have created strange and wonderful characters that go on adventures overlorded by their Dungeon Master Scott Robison. Because all these folks are comics and writers and actors, it’s all pretty funny and even if you haven’t been into D&D for over 30 years (oops, did I say that?) you’ll still probably enjoy it. (I recently reviewed Nerd Poker over on Splitsider.com - you can catch it at http://hersh.co/TWICP010313) The Zane Lamprey ShowComedian, actor and International Drinking Ambassador Zane Lamprey hosts a show that used to be called Drinking Made Easy but now goes by the name The Zane Lamprey Show. Succotashians were turned onto Zane when we had THAT Chris Gore on as our co-host a month or so ago. Our featured clip is of Zane, his posse Steve McKenna, Fun Josh and Mel, along with guest, three-time Playboy Playmate Jessica Hall. Allison Rosen Is Your New Best FriendAlthough she’s pretty well-known as Adam Carolla’s newsy sidekick on his podcast, The Adam Carolla Show, Alison Rosen’s been hosting her own show since 2009. She’s very engaging, involves her listeners in the show with games and thanks largely to her clout from being part of Carolla Digital (formerly ACE Broadcasting), she gets some awesome guests. Here’s a clip from her recent two-part visit with Dave Atell. BertcastBert Kreisher is a comedian with a podcast – imagine that! – and a forthcoming documentary that’s being done about him. We clip his Epi5 where he interviewed the two filmmakers who have been following him around, Jeff Johnson and Jeff Hinman. In the segment we have, they talk about what happened when they went out after hours with fellow comic Hannibal Buress. Cox & Crendor ShowThe official blurb calls this show “The highest quality non-content 30-minute morning show on the internet in podcast form” and it seem to be holding that spot fairly well. These guys are out of Los Angeles and, if they don’t smoke pot, Jesse Cox and Eric “Crendor” Hraab really should have to explain why they laugh so much during their show. There's our deal. Epi46 in one neat, tidy bundle. Next week we'll visit with David Owen, one of the founders of the renowned San Francisco Sketchfest, about to kick off it's 12th year. Until then, keep it real. And pass the Succotash! — Marc Hershon
