Editors – Dana E. Glauberman ACE, James D. Wilcox ACE and Rosanne Tan ACE AHSOKA editors Dana E. Glauberman ACE, James D. Wilcox ACE and Rosanne Tan ACE worked together for the very first time to help bring to life the story of Anakin Skywalker's former apprentice.  Although none of the three describe themselves as experts on the Star Wars universe, it's their gifts as storytellers that led Dave Filoni to trust them with his latest entry in the saga. Set after the fall of the Empire, AHSOKA follows the former Jedi knight, Ahsoka Tano, as she investigates an emerging threat to a vulnerable galaxy. DANA E. GLAUBERMAN ACE When she's not lending her editorial talents to the Star Wars universe, Dana is cutting films like GHOSTBUSTERS: AFTERLIFE, CREED II, UP IN THE AIR and JUNO.  AHSOKA marks Dana's third tour of duty for Lucasfilm, having been part of the editorial crew for THE MANDALORIAN - S1 and THE BOOK OF BOBA FETT. JAMES D. WILCOX ACE A frequent collaborator with director Ron Howard, James cut Howard's adaptation of the book HILLBILLY ELEGY as well as his documentary THIRTEEN LIVES.  Unlike most feature editors who started their journey in post as an assistant, James actually started out as a full-time editor working in news and sports.  This is James' third appearance on The Rough Cut. ROSANNE TAN ACE Like Dana, Rosanne Tan ACE makes her 4th appearance on The Rough Cut!  Prior to AHSOKA, Rosanne was making her mark with another Disney studio, cutting Marvel's HAWKEYE and THE FALCON AND THE WINTER SOLDIER.  Before her tour of duty with Disney, Rosanne was editing tv shows that featured action, intrigue and high drama; notably MR. ROBOT and HOMECOMING. Brittany Nicholas is currently back on Broadway playing the role of Viola, as a swing, the understudy for Angelique, and as the dance captain in the runaway hit “& Juliet”. Perhaps unbeknownst to many, her Broadway debut was actually "Billy Elliot", where she was universal swing (before that was ever a thing!). She shares the wild story of how it all happened, and how it was all a blur. She looks back on her childhood, dancing since she was four all the way through gymnastics training in high school. In fact, her love for dancing became the gateway for her to get into theatre after joining Destination Broadway. This discovery eventually inspired Brittany to audition for…literally everything, eventually becoming a swing for “Billy Elliot ” without knowing what a swing was yet. She also shares when her journey with “& Juliet” started, and how her “Matilda” journey played a part in it. Being in a show where she gets to sing songs she grew up with, it's the most fun Brittany's ever had. Having multiple responsibilities in the show, she reflects on how she looks at the big picture and makes sure she knows everything—a seemingly challenging task that Brittany makes look easy, all thanks to her talent and passion for making things happen. Brittany Nicholas is a multi-hyphenate artist who made her Broadway debut in “Billy Elliot”. She was part of the original cast of “Mean Girls” and has starred in the National Tours of “Billy Elliot” and “Matilda the Musical”. Her TV credits include Marvel's “Hawkeye”, and “America's Got Talent”. Brittany is also a teacher, gymnastics coach, competition adjudicator, and dance captain. She is now back on the Broadway stage in the runaway hit “& Juliet” as Viola, as a swing, the understudy for Angelique, and as the dance captain. Daily News Brief by TRT World

*) Calls for UNSC meeting over Al Aqsa Mosque The United Arab Emirates and China have called for a UN Security Council meeting after Israel's national security minister entered the Al Aqsa complex in occupied East Jerusalem. Itamar Ben-Gvir's move drew fierce condemnation across the world as the move was seen as a provocation that could exacerbate tensions between Israelis and Palestinians. Sitting on a site sacred to Muslims, Jews and Christians, Al Aqsa is a symbol of Palestinian resistance and a primary flashpoint in the Israeli–Palestinian conflict. Calm is upheld in the site by a sensitive status quo agreement that is regularly bypassed by Israelis visiting the mosque and praying there despite not being allowed to. *) Germany delays emissions goals Short-term measures to ensure energy security following Russia's Ukraine offensive have left Germany behind schedule in its bid to become carbon-neutral by 2045. Data from a climate think tank showed that Germany's carbon dioxide emissions held steady in 2022 as higher use of oil and coal nullified the reductions in emissions through energy savings. Germany's greenhouse gas emissions were around 761 million tonnes last year, missing a target of 756 million tonnes, despite the country's renewable energy boom. *) McCarthy's bid for House speaker to continue Kevin McCarthy's bid to become the US House speaker has continued despite losing in multiple rounds of voting that threw the new GOP majority into chaos. He won no more than 203 votes in three rounds of voting, losing as many as 20 Republicans from his slim 222-seat majority. But McCarthy said Trump wanted him to stay in the race and told him to bring an end to the House Republican chaos and pull the party together. *) Rail workers continue to strike in UK UK rail workers with the National Union of Rail, Maritime and Transport Workers will continue to strike in an ongoing dispute over pay. After a break on Thursday, another 48-hour strike will be staged on Friday and Saturday. The demonstrations have crippled rail services and resulted in travel chaos in the UK, which is in the grip of its worst run of worker unrest since the 1980s. As surging inflation follows more than 10 years of stagnant wage growth, many workers who have been unable to make ends meet were prompted to strike. And finally… *) Marvel's Hawkeye posts first selfie after accident Actor Jeremy Renner, who played Hawkeye in Marvel's "Avengers", has posted a selfie from his hospital bed after he suffered a traumatic injury while ploughing snow on New Year's Day. Alongside the selfie on Instagram, showing the actor looking bruised with oxygen tubes in his nose, Renner thanked his fans for their well wishes. The actor had "suffered blunt chest trauma and orthopaedic injuries" in the accident according to his publicist.

Fans were especially shocked to see Thor: Love and Thunder on the site, which many believe to be a weaker MCU film and a significant step down from its predecessor, 2017's Thor: Ragnarok. Disney submitted Love and Thunder for several other major awards as well, including Best Director, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Adapted Screenplay, and Best VFX. Angela Bassett Lands One of Black Panther 2's Two Golden Globe Noms https://www.cbr.com/angela-bassett-lands-black-panther-2-golden-globe-noms/ Angela Bassett has earned her second career Golden Globes nomination for her performance in the 2022 Marvel Cinematic Universe film, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.   The nominations for the 80th Golden Globe Awards were announced on Dec. 12 by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, with Bassett receiving a Best Supporting Actress Performance in a Motion Picture nomination for her reprisal of Ramonda, the Sovereign Queen Mother of Wakanda, in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. She will be competing against Kerry Condon (The Banshees of Inisherin), Jamie Lee Curtis (Everything Everywhere All at Once), Dolly de Leon (Triangle of Sadness) and Carey Mulligan (She Said) in the category. Bassett previously won the Golden Globes award for Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy for her performance in 1993's What's Love Got to Do with It.   James Gunn's Thor/GotG Timeline Explanation Baffles MCU Fans https://www.cbr.com/james-gunn-thor-gotg-timeline-baffles-mcu-fans/ James Gunn's explanation for where Thor: Love and Thunder fits into the Marvel Cinematic Universe timeline has left fans confused.   Detail-oriented fans have pointed out that Thor had to have spent more than "a few weeks" as part of the Guardians of the Galaxy team, which he was seen joining at the end of Avengers: Endgame and leaving early in Love and Thunder. If Jane were "blipped" during Infinity War, this would mean that following her resurrection in Endgame, the Mighty Thor had time to be diagnosed with cancer and spent six months in treatment prior to the events of Love and Thunder. Many have suggested this would have to have occurred while Thor was with the Guardians, meaning his time with the team was much longer than a few weeks.   Some enthusiasts stated that Love and Thunder appears to confirm the long-held fan belief that Jane was among those killed in the Snap by having Thor and Jane disagree about how long it had been since they last saw each other. Thor thinks it's about five years more than she does. However, others reject that as confirmation, instead seeing it as a joke about the pair's different attitudes towards their break up. Whether Jane was snapped is still hotly debated by fans, as there has been evidence on both sides. A tie-in novel for Avengers: Infinity War confirmed Jane and her friends Darcy and Dr. Selvig to all be among the survivors, while Endgame's script revealed Thor's beloved to be among the dead, alongside other characters whose confirmations never made it into the movie.
