Since cracking the mic at 16, audio has been his life at such companies as CBS, Stitcher, iHeartRadio and currently https://www.linkedin.com/company/amazemedialabs/ (Amaze Media Labs). https://newsletter.podcastmovement.com/Prod/link-tracker?redirectUrl=aHR0cHMlM0ElMkYlMkZhdWRpb2luc3VyZ2VudC5zdWJzdGFjay5jb20lMkZwJTJGZml2ZS1waWVjZXMtb2YtYWR2aWNlLWZvci10aG9zZS1pbnRlcmVzdGVk&sig=ESP1kQUxUfUMidipFCWmAkP7rTjeLSLqdhXdawYuTFjc&iat=1634743010&a=%7C%7C252316729%7C%7C&account=podcastmovement%2Eactivehosted%2Ecom&email=39mAMeT0TXlQRKJ%2FlDlBxQA3SuMkJhmkGexv49sZvNU%3D&s=57e9b759e25d786bfa6d8d02b142c740&i=1488A1615A3A32616 (According to Eric Nuzum, podcasters are audio makers), but they're not in the audio business. Following his podcasting masterclass at Radiodays Europe in September, the veteran creator, strategist, and https://magnificentnoise.com/ (Magnificent Noise) co-founder was asked to deliver five ideas around podcasting.  "Idea Number 1: Don't be a podcaster." Nuzum encourages podcasters and radio producers alike to think of themselves as "audio makers." Worrying about platforms will only limit your perceived versatility. To let go of that label now is to save yourself existential anxiety in 10 years when something new comes along. "Idea Number 4: You are not in the audio business." Those that make podcasts are in the community building business, Nuzum says: "You are establishing a hub for a community of people who love a subject or a topic and want to…interact about it." Fostering that hub isn't optional if you plan to grow. "You are not in the audio business; you are in the community building business." Matty and I talk about how brands look at podcasting, and their mindset on how podcasting builds community. And how podcasting is central to community building and engagement for businesses and brands. It's about looking at podcasting as a means to an end - your business or brand goal. Let's talk about what podcasting can do for your business in the next 12-months. Whether you're B2C or B2B, we can create a content marketing strategy that will work for you. Thanks for joining me on the Sound In Marketing podcast for part two of my interview with Matty Staudt, former VP of Podcast Programming at iHeartRadio and current CEO and founder of Jam Street Media a podcast production company for brands.  My name is Jeanna Isham and I’m Head of Audio at Dreamr Productions and Stage Ham Entertainment.Matty predicts, and I tend to agree that we are in a reboot of the 2001 .com and apps era.  The buzz is hot, the advertising dollar spend is high, and so everyone is jumping on the bandwagon.  But that doesn't necessarily mean they will succeed.  Those without a true plan will experience "pod fade".  They'll realize it's an actual job and drop off.  Those that are tried and true will have a great ROI.So when it is time to start a podcast for your brand, put some thought into it before launching.  “No one is ever good at it right away.” Matty stated. With any craft or new project, it takes trial and error.  And until you try, you just don’t know what will come out of it.Matty has 3 E’s that he carefully considers when starting any new podcast.  Empathy; a good podcast creates an empathetic experience. Education; is there an educational factor that goes along with the podcast?  People want to learn. They are interested in the world. And lastly, is it entertaining? Is it good? But it's not all about the end product.  In order to be successful a brand must actually market the product.  They can't just sit on their hands and wait for their audience to come to them.  And don't forget networking and connections.  The space is still friendly and people are helpful.  Take advantage of this opportunity (in a good way) and see how you can help others succeed and they will most likely reciprocate. We are living in a screenless society.  What does that mean? It means that we have become so busy that we don’t have time to look down at our phone screens let alone a computer screen.  So existing in the audio world for a brand or a company is essential.  I hope you enjoyed today's episode of Sound In Marketing.  Don’t forget to follow and subscribe on iTunes, Spotify, Google Play, iHeart Radio, and Stitcher. And don’t forget about your one month free trial of Stitcher Premium.  Just enter promo code SOUNDINMARKETING at checkout. To get ahold of Matty, you can find him on Linkedin and Twitter and for more information on his company go to Jam Street Media. To get ahold of me, you can find me at Dreamr Productions.  That’s www.dreamrproductions.com , Linkedin and Facebook.  You can also email me at jeanna@dreamrproductions.com Let’s make this world of sound more intriguing, more unique, and more on brand. In these episodes, Matty and I discussed a number of different topics which included:What makes a good podcastHow to decide the definition of your podcast’s ROIIs a podcast for everyone? The three E’sAdvertising in the podcast space

Today I’m joined by Matty Staudt former Vice President of Podcast Programming at iHeartRadio.  Just recently, he took his passion for podcasting full time devoting his full efforts to his company Jam Street Media a podcast production company for brands.  Matty is not new to the world of audio.  At age 16, he started in broadcast at his hometown radio station then off to CBS Radio to produce the G Gordon LIddy Show in DC, The Sports Guys at WNEW NYC and Alice Radio and Live 105 as the AM Executive Producer in San Francisco.  In 2007, he left traditional radio, and became Stitcher’s first Director of Content.  I am really glad that he’s joining me today.  Matty has a wealth of knowledge on what a podcast can look like for a brand, why a podcast is relevant to a brand, and how a brand can go about finding their podcast story.  Not to mention he helped start Stitcher. I feel that gives him more than a little bit of an authority on this. And while we’re on the subject of Stitcher.  If you’re interested in a one month free trial of Stitcher Premium, head on over to Stitcher.com/premium and use promo code SOUNDINMARKETING today.  It’s a great platform and free...is free.  So check it out. Now is the time to experiment, research, and dig a little deeper.  Pay attention to the things that are just barely surfacing and look closer to see what hasn’t surfaced yet.  Be inquisitive, be curious, ask questions. The only way any of us will be able to get ahead in this is if we work together and share clues.  We all bring different things to the table so don’t see your peers as threats, see them as reinforcement. I hope you enjoyed today's episode of Sound In Marketing.  Don’t forget to follow and subscribe on iTunes, Spotify, Google Play, iHeart Radio, and Stitcher. And don’t forget to enter promo code SOUNDINMARKETING for your one month free trial of Stitcher Premium.  The link and promo code will be listed in the show notes of this episode. To get ahold of Matty, you can find him on Linkedin and Twitter.  For more information on his company go to Jam Street Media.  To get ahold of me, you can find me at Dreamr Productions.  That’s www.dreamrproductions.com , Linkedin and Facebook.  You can also email me at jeanna@dreamrproductions.com Let’s make this world of sound more intriguing, more unique, and more on brand.

In the same survey, smartphones are the preferred device for listening at 65% of the listening hours and 71% of Podcast listeners listen to the whole episode while 65% listen to mostly all of the episodes they download.According to the Edison Infinate Dial report for Australia 2019, as well as with commentary from Courtney Carthy, there will be an estimated 780 million podcast episodes downloaded in Australia in 2019. With that number of downloads in a year, the gross revenue in Australia’s podcast ad market would be $15.6 million. Compared to the US, this is relatively small but the audio consumption in Australia is growing rapidly and over the next few years the podcast ad revenue in Australia is expected to grow by an annual compounded growth rate of 86%.Matty Staudt, wrote a Medium post entitled, “The Three E’s of Podcating.” In it, he writes that people love podcasts so much because of three things, empathy, education and entertainment. In it he writes, “Great podcasts evoke empathy. More than any other medium, podcasts generate shared experiences and emotions. When a person listens to a moving podcast, they are transported to the world that the creator paints for them with their words.” For education, he says, “ Podcasts are great teachers. When a person gets done listening to an amazing podcast, they leave a little more informed. They can also find out more about a brand through the stories their favorite podcasts tell.” and for entertainment he states, “At the end of the day, podcasts have to entertain listeners. They should be fun and groundbreaking in their sound. Entertaining both hardcore listeners and newbies is vital for the growth and overall reach of a podcast.”It’s that time for the random podcasting thought of the week. We recently asked ourselves the following question, What is the future of Search Engine Optimization?

Matty Staudt is someone I have been trying to get on the podcast for about a year. His busy work schedule at iHeart made scheduling difficult. However, a change in direction for Matty created the necessary time to have him on. Matty is starting a new venture called Jam Street Media. He had straddled both podcast and broadcast successfully for over a decade. From working as a producer for G. Gordon Liddy, to working at Stitcher, Matty has a good sense where the intersection of podcast and broadcast is located. With multiple Food Network episode features, new restaurant openings, and even a trip to Washington D.C. to represent the industry on Capitol Hill, 2017 has been one for the books. Be sure to stay tuned to “Hot Off the Press” to see what’s in store for 2018!  On a recent trip to "Panini Pete's" on the campus of West Virginia University, Pete caught up with former WVU quarterback star Pat White. A Daphne, Alabama native (Pete’s hometown), White played for WVU before being selected by the Miami Dolphins in the second round of the 2009 NFL draft. He became the first quarterback in NCAA history to win four bowl games in a row (five including the Senior Bowl) and broke numerous Big East Conference and NCAA records. White finished sixth in Heisman voting in 2007 and seventh in 2008. He was a three-time All-Big East first-team selection, and WVU was 42-9 in White's four seasons. In addition, White was drafted by the Anaheim Angels in the Major League Baseball draft but declined the offer to play college football instead. His career concluded with a final stop in the Canadian Football League playing for the Edmonton Eskimos before retiring in 2015 after a traumatic head injury. White now works as a financial representative for Northwestern Mutual in the Greater Pittsburgh area. White and his brothers are also the founders of Blueprint Performance, a program that provides coaching, on the field training and academic prep to help high school students make the transition to college athletes.  White hosts a weekly podcast where he talks WVU sports and takes fan questions with WVU alum and radio host Matty Staudt. Check out "The Pat White Podcast" here and be sure to connect with White on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
