PAUL CHANDLER on THE INVADERS, THE WILD WILD WEST, VOYAGE TO THE BOTTOM OF THE SEA, and BEWITCHED. First broadcast on FAB RADIO INTERNATIONAL at 19:00 on September 24th 2023 This week, all the way from THE SHY LIFE PODCAST, PAUL CHANDLER, THE SHY YETI himself is back here on VISION ON SOUND because, well, he had an idea that he thought that I might like to talk about for the show, and knowing - as he does - that I'm always eager to grab at any such demonstration of enthusiasm from the team, he suggested that I might like to try it out. So, basically, PAUL asked himself the question about what sort of Archive TV he might be able to see if he was up and about and away from home and didn't have his extensive collection of television with him. What kind of programmes, essentially, could he watch on a website like THE TUBE THAT IS YOU that might just scratch that itch when he was far, far away from the shelves of YETI TOWERS…? Over the course of several evenings he picked out a few random choices of single stories from four American television series that were popular in the 1960s, and whilst narrowing this down to choices from a single decade might not be quite as completely random as he initially planned, it does give us the opportunity to return to this theme on another occasion by selecting shows from another decade. Anyway, future planning aside, the four very popular and successful series PAUL chose were THE INVADERS, a QUINN MARTIN PRODUCTION from 1967 which featured ROY THINNES as ARCHITECT DAVID VINCENT in an era of deep paranoia when you had to have a responsible profession in order not to be a complete “ALIENS ARE HERE” spouting crackpot, apparently. After that he ventured into THE WILD, WILD WEST featuring ROBERT CONRAD and ROSS MARTIN, before taking a VOYAGE TO THE BOTTOM OF THE SEA with RICHARD BASEHART and DAVID HEDISON, and ended up being BEWITCHED by SAMANTHA the urban witch as played by ELIZABETH MONTGOMERY. For THE INVADERS PAUL picked out THE TRIAL from the second season, from THE WILD, WILD WEST, he chose THE NIGHT OF THE SIMIAN TERROR from late in the third season, and from VOYAGE he picked TERROR ON DINOSAUR ISLAND from the second year. Finally, it's a pair of fifth season offerings from BEWITCHED, that he chose, in order to keep the running times consistent, the two-part story COUSIN SERENA STRIKES AGAIN. So if you want to watch the specific shows we're talking about after the programme, at time of recording PAUL found all of these episodes on YOUTUBE, and it's always a joy when I can present a show where my guest has done all of the homework. PLEASE NOTE - For Copyright reasons, musical content sometimes has to be removed for the podcast edition. All the spoken word content remains (mostly) as it was in the broadcast version. Hopefully this won't spoil your enjoyment of the show.

Harvey Brownstone conducts an in-depth interview with Tina Cole, Singer, Actress & Author, “My Three Lives: A Memoir” About Harvey's guest: Today's special guest, Tina Cole, is a singer and actress who can truly be considered a member of show business royalty, for several reasons.   First of all, she's the daughter of Yvonne King of the legendary King Sisters, who were hugely popular big-band singers, and the 1st female vocal group to sing in 4 part harmony.  And her father was the iconic pianist, orchestra leader and musical director Buddy Cole, who worked with some of the greatest singers of all time and recorded the soundtracks of over 1,000 movies.   Secondly, she's a member of America's First Family of Song -  the legendary King Family, which entertained audiences throughout the 60s and 70s with their own TV series and 17 TV specials.    And thirdly, she will forever be remembered as the beautiful, sweet-natured Katie Douglas, in one of the greatest TV sitcoms of all time: “My Three Sons”.  When she joined the cast of that show in its 8th season as Robbie Douglas' fiancée, and then his wife, she became an international sensation, receiving more fan mail than any other actor in any of Don Fedderson's many TV productions.   And she won Photoplay Magazine's People's Choice Award for the Most Promising Actress.  And get this: the episode of “My Three Sons” where Katie Douglas gave birth to triplets, was the number one show in the Nielsen Ratings for that week.  Our guest has been entertaining audiences since she was a toddler.   In addition to performing on TV and on tour with The King Family, and as a member of the immensely popular “Four King Cousins”, and her iconic role on “My Three Sons”, she had a recurring role on “Hawaiian Eye” opposite Robert Conrad and Troy Donohue.   She guest starred in TV shows including “The Lucy Show”, “To Rome With Love”, “Adam-12” and many more.   And when you thought you were listening to Raquel Welch singing on her 1970 TV Special, you were actually hearing the voice of our guest!    She's appeared in a number of theatrical productions including “I Do, I Do”, “The Boyfriend”, “Trail of Dreams”, and “Chemical Imbalance”, and for 10 years she played Ethel Mertz in an “I Love Lucy” tribute show.  For her stellar performance in the 2014 movie, “See Me”, she won the Vanguard Award at the Sacramento Film Festival.   And in 2014, she received the Golden Halo Award for Lifetime Achievement in the Motion Picture and Television Industry.   AND NOW, she's released her long-awaited autobiography entitled, “My Three Lives: A Memoir”, which takes us on an engaging, nostalgic, heartfelt – and sometimes heartbreaking – but ALWAYS uplifting and inspirational, journey through her multi-faceted career, her personal relationships, and her enormously strong bond with her beautiful family. For more interviews and podcasts go to: https://www.harveybrownstoneinterviews.com/ To see more about Tina Cole, go to:https://www.facebook.com/OfficialTinaCole/  #OfficialTinaCole    #harveybrownstoneinterviews

The Far Middle episode 93’s release date, March 1, coincides with the birthday of the late actor, Robert Conrad. Nick says as a kid he was obsessed with Conrad’s television series The Wild Wild West, as well as Conrad’s series, Baa Baa Black Sheep. Moving on to this episode’s dedication, Nick honors Mario Lemieux’s 1992-1993 season. It was a season by the Penguins’ Center that embodied athletic achievement, personal endurance, and one “you could make a movie about.” Lemieux’s perseverance that season is, “Motivation for all of us, as we continue to achieve in our endeavors, and as we face life’s unpredictable challenges,” says Nick. Nick stays on the ice as he moves from Penguin statistics to polar bear statistics. Referencing a study by the International Union for the Conservation of Nature, Nick highlights that the world’s population of polar bears has risen from the 1960s to today, while at the same time, carbon dioxide emissions have also increased. It’s an inconvenient fact that runs counter to the beliefs of the Church of Climate parishioners. “The dynamic that we see, where an ideology insists on ignoring or suppressing facts and certainties that inconveniently counter its core beliefs, leads to quite damaging consequences, and they stretch beyond polar bears,” explains Nick as he next examines public education leadership not recognizing individual achievers in those education officials’ pursuit of “equal outcomes.” Nick argues that if our public education leaders are intent on holding back the recognition of high-performing students, not only is our public education system doomed, but so too is our future economic competitiveness, and further, the viability of the U.S. is in serious peril. Next up is a signature Far Middle trifecta connection, albeit one that illustrates the incompetence of government intervention under the cover of “saving the planet.” Electric vehicles are at the intersection of that trifecta connection. Nick delves into contradictory federal policies that mandate and subsidize electric vehicles, while on the other hand prohibit the domestic mining of the vital materials for EV battery production, and then at the same time the State Department pledges to help build foreign EV supply chains—effectively offshoring environmental destruction and human rights abuses. “As bad as it might be in the U.S. with our dysfunctional federal government, it could be much, much worse,” says Nick. “You don’t need to look beyond the Americas to see situations today that are indeed much worse.” This brings the conversation to Colombia where its new president, Gustavo Petro, is another faithful worshiper in the Church of Climate, an ex-guerilla, a 2023 Davos attendee, and at his side is a Minister of Mines and Energy who’s a professor and environmental activist. The path these two are prescribing for Colombia is about to make things much worse for the country’s residents, its economy, and its environmental health. Leaving Bogotá, Nick heads to New York City to close this episode, connecting to the film Gangs of New York and two of its stars, Daniel Day-Lewis and Liam Neeson.

After an intro by friend of the podcast Kristen Gaydos, Sarah & Joe break down the show's relatively brief, memorable run in the late '60s, from the controversy over its violence to the miraculous fabric that seemingly doesn't tear during the many fights scenes. Along the way, show favorite James Gregory makes an appearance, alongside series stars Robert Conrad and Ross Martin, with additional discussions of the 1999 Will Smith feature adaptation (and that year's Razzie Awards), Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, Clambake, Batman '66, and a chaotic outro in search of a fitting ending that gets way, way out there.

Nick reflects on a few myths that are about to deliver societal jolts, including the fallacy that climate change policies will improve America’s geopolitical standing and weaken our adversaries. “Guess what, just the opposite is occurring,” says Nick. Another myth addressed is the idea that excluding fossil fuel investments and doubling down on so-called ESG-worthy investments will deliver superior portfolio returns versus one that is not screening under such arbitrary criteria. Nick goes on to offer his thoughts on Canada’s trucker protests, the 2022 Winter Olympics, recent comments from Climate Czar John Kerry, historic policy moves by FERC that will chill infrastructure investment, and more. Nick concludes with wishing a happy birthday to the late Robert Conrad.

Former Attorney General John Ashcroft had this to say about the book: “Ambivalence and ambiguity do not inhabit these pages. Validated historic lives project principles desperately needed by our modern culture of convenience and ‘compromised integrity.' Judge Conrad's work looks at the lives of Saints John Fisher and Thomas More and the great life lessons that we can draw from these two incredible men in our own day and time. Due to his experience as a federal judge, federal prosecutor and defense lawyer, Judge Conrad's in depth look at the lives of these two great saints is often through the lens of an attorney. While a great read for anyone interested in learning about Fisher and More or focused on self-improvement, Judge Conrad's discussion of these two figures is particularly applicable for the modern attorney. Highlights: Discover why Judge Conrad believes that one of the lessons flowing from Fisher and More is that “the pursuit of truth is a costly thing.” Listen to Judge Conrad discuss the value of being detached in the legal profession and how this can equip us to be better lawyers but more importantly happier people. Learn what Fisher and More believed leading a “significant life” looked like and why this is so important for professionals in prestigious fields such as the law. Hear Judge Conrad and Jake discuss the importance, following Fisher's example, of speaking your conscience even when you are seemingly alone in your convictions.

She recurred on “Magnum, P.I.” and “Buck Rogers in the 25th Century.”
