The Worst Movie Ever Made

We're wrapping up season 106 with R.I.P.D., a movie that has so much ham jammed into its third act that it's basically a fistful of mechanically separated pork. We've been doing this for a long time, guys, and we're tired. But next week we're going to watch Predator to cleanse our palates, so we won't run the car in the garage with the doors closed just yet! Ryan Reynolds' reprehensible ripoff remake! Chris' liquid shits! Kevin Bacon's heroin hairline! Hot gas having passed through a dead ass is hilariou-ass! The haunting Hong Kong howdy do! She must die to say goodbye! Self-righteous chestnuts? The resting penis department! Aperiodic accents! Beard biting bitches! Vindaloo vitriol, and much, much more on this week's episode of The Worst Movie Ever Made! www.theworstmovieevermade.com

Welcome back and hello to newcomers, I am your host Jose Luis. I start the show off show with some 3K and unleash the flutes on yall and bring it to Pluto. NINETY THREE TIL INFINITY AND BEYONCE - ANDRE 3000 MASK OFF - FUTURE (00:00-03:58) On today's episode I talk about the BOY taking shots at the gawd, and i ask the boy to push the button. I give thoughts on black friday and how its been a miss this year. Like things done changed and not for the better, bring back the SALES damn it. (03:59-22:37) We then step into a murky subject where I ask the tough questions like what's the most american ghost movie of all time, when you think of american home defense what do you think? if you guessed guns DING DING DING that is spot on. Find me another movie that is original with that concept and pulled it off. yes yes you can name RIPD but was it though. (22:38-34:08) From there we enter the cool report where we jump into things that are going on the world like Diddy opening the floodgates for more allegations to come into the light that just didn't affect him but other socialites as well. From mayors to actors and producers and musicians. It's getting crazy out here. I also speak of a man whos karma came back to get him when least expected. A man who got his life together only for it to be taken away from him. Let me know if you think this man should still be held responsible for decisions made 13 years ago. (34:09-45:49) Then we have 3 fans ask me questions for PTL where we get asked the tough questions where we place ourselves in their shoes. Like shooters are gonna shoot but is every shot to be taken, and why would you shoot at just anyone. Basically mans is trying to get on some incest stuff. Find out what i recommend to this man. Also we talk about financial struggles over the holiday and how to move in this situation. Is going all out the right answer. You tell us.... (45:30-54:07) THE FIN I speak on taking time off for the holidays, might drop 2 or 3 more for the year who knows. But i am waiting for my new mic. So happy holidays to you guys for now. i shall be back. please continue to like, share, comment and subscribe. RIPD— the Rest in Peace Department—is based upon a comic of the same name. We're not sure about the source material, but the film is just a unabashed Men in Black ripoff. There's the wisecracking rookie who's new to the job; and the crotchety old vet who's stuck with him. Their job is to protect the earth from monstrous spirits, or deados, who walk among them, avoiding their fate in the afterlife. So, let's run this down. Secret government agency? Check. Young, quippy star? Check. Elder curmudgeon? Check. And plot that revolves around said agency protecting the unsuspecting public from a threat they have no idea exists? Check. Thus, RIPD is just a 2013 version of a 1997 film, and in no way is that a compliment. Why? Well, because most of it does not work. And it's central elements are just grifted from better movies. The villain, played hammily by the great Kevin Bacon, is essentially just the budget Gozer from Ghostbusters. With all that in mind, you can probably guess that this flopped and was buried by critics. On a budget estimated to be as high as $154 million, it earned a putrid $78.3 million. It's 12% on Rotten Tomatoes is also as moldy as one of the deados who's been hiding out on earth for too long. Now, sit back, enjoy the after life with a Dead 'N' Dead from Rogue, and stay frosty! I, the Thunderous Wizard (@WriterTLK), Chumpzilla, and a special guest are hunting down evil Kevin Bacon in the mean streets of Boston! Mystery, Alaska is a classic underdog tale. The small town who lives for hockey is thrust into the spotlight when given the opportunity to faceoff against the NHL's New York Rangers (those rascally Rags). Starring Russel Crowe— who was at the peak of his leading man powers—as sheriff/defenseman John Biebe, the movie centers on the sleepy Alaskan town of Mystery. It's a place that takes pride in many things, but hockey is really its treasure. Thus, when the opportunity arises for them to play the aforementioned Rags, the town is abuzz. Throw in some drama around old romances, unfaithful spouses, leaky locker room betrayal, and an old curmudgeon who needs a reason to love the game again, you've got yourself the recipe for a great sports film. Unfortunately, those ingredients did not equate to critical or box office success. Earning just $8.9 million on a budget of $28 million, Mystery, Alaska was a flop. And being drubbed by critics—37% with 82 reviews on Rotten Tomatoes—was unwarranted and nastier than a crosscheck to the face. But, fear not, Mystery, Alaska is well worth a watch; and over time, it has garnered a devout following. That is no doubt due to its charming cast, who all feel like an actual team. You just can't help, but root for them. Now, sit back, high stick an Amber Alt-Style Ale from Alaskan Brewing Co., and keep your head up! I, the Thunderous Wizard (@WriterTLK), Chumpzilla, Capt. Necessary Roughness is very much just Major League on the gridiron, featuring a ragtag group of footballers who must rise to the occasion in the face of great adversity. And it's 100% a 90s gem. Necessary Roughness is sort of the sequel to The Program we never got. In it, the Texas State Armadillos are mired in scandals. As a result, their team has all had their scholarships revoked, leaving the university to cobble together a team of never weres. Enter, Paul Blake, played by the remarkably handsome Scott Bakula. He's a long forgotten QB who sacrificed his shot at glory to tend to the family farm. Alongside a crew of literal misfits—including a ninja, a war enthusiast, and guy who couldn't catch a cold—Blake must defy the odds. Oh, and since it's the 90s, he also has to fall in love. That's just science. You'll laugh; you'll cry; and I'll make you a promise: If TSU gets into that end zone, you're going to feel no pain. Now, sit back, root for your team with a Holiday Cheer from Shiner, and always go for two! I, the Thunderous Wizard (@WriterTLK), Chumpzilla, and a special guest are throwing bows at Billy Bob's with the a-holes from the Texas Colts! This Week's Segments: Introduction/Plot Breakdown – This gang of loners, loonies, and losers is about to become something they've never been before ... a team! (00:00) Lingering Questions – After a word from our brothers in beer at Hop Nation USA, we debate who the greatest fictional QB of all time is. (24:51) The "Iron Man Football" Trivia Challenge – The Double Turn Podcast commits several personal fouls, and then I challenge the field to trivia about the movie. (48:09) Recommendations – We offer our picks for the week and next up: We continue "Hops and Heartthrob Flops" with the comic book disaster, RIPD! (1:02:48) And, as always, hit us up on Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram to check out all the interesting factoids—the oral history of Necessary Roughness and more—from this week's episode! Enjoy the HYPE! Movie marketing has evolved over the years but no matter what form it takes, it's meant to get us all excited! Is it too much? Or is it what really makes the movie more fun? Jovial Jay and Shua look at the hype they grew up with and how we had fun with it!   Is movie hype fun? A lot of money is pumped into letting everyone know about your film. Trailers, interviews, products with movie images plastered everywhere….the machine makes sure we know about it. Is it too much or can it be an enjoyable experience?   News Ferris Bueller is getting a spinoff! Obi-Wan Kenobi: A Jedi's Return makes its way to Disney+ as an exciting documentary R.I.P.D. 2: Rise of the Damned is a sequel that snuck up on us Need more Sega games? How about the cool, new Sega Mega Drive Mini 2? The Child Mullet Champion has been crowned! What we're Enjoying Jay checked out the Jamie Foxx, Snoop Dog vampire movie on Netflix called Day Shift. Probably not an instant classic, but a fun, vampire hunting romp. Shua is loving the funny and creative Disney+ series She-Hulk: Attorney at Law.      Sci-Fi Saturdays/MCU Location Scout Tim Burton's Mars Attacks is an homage to the Sci-Fi films of the 50s. At the time it came out, it had some innovative effects and a ton of big named stars. Jay revisits it this week on Sci-Fi Saturdays to determine how well it has aged. Maybe not as well as we'd hoped.  And don't forget his articles on MCULocationScout.com for some great, interactive maps of filming locations.    Enjoy Movies! In the early days of cinema, the only thing you needed to convince audiences to check out your motion picture was the fact that the picture was in motion. As audiences have become more sophisticated over the years, marketing movies has too.    When we were growing up, there were a variety of creative ways to let everyone know about your movie, and it was aimed at specific audiences. For example, Star Trek: The Motion Picture was for families. Where do families eat? McDonalds! Voila! The first Happy Meal.    In addition to kids' fast food toys, those quick dining establishments sometimes provided fine dinnerware, such as the Pepsi/Burger King Superman glasses in 1979. Now your family can invite people over for a fancy meal!   In 1989, Batman was everywhere, thanks to the marketing division. Billboards, cereal, TV, radio, everywhere! They used the well-known character of Batman by giving us simple images and using our prior knowledge to make it feel a bit more artistic.    The Matrix took an unknown premise to offer us a mystery. What is the Matrix? Nobody knew back then. And we desperately wanted to find out.    When Return of the Jedi came out, we enhanced our viewing experience with behind the scene TV specials that showed us exactly how they made it. Did this spoil the movie? On the contrary. We wanted to go check it out again to see how all that came together.    By the time The Phantom Menace was being made, Lucasfilm took marketing to a whole new level! You couldn't go anywhere without seeing Episode I images. Some say they may have gone too far, but we know we sure had fun in the summer of ‘99.  Is hype a bad thing? Is it the fun part of the movie experience? Did you read all of these show notes? First person that emails me with the subject line, “Jump aboard the Hype train!” will get a special mention on the show.  Let us know. Come talk to us in the Discord channel or send us an email to EnjoyStuff@RetroZap.com

They said this was a dumb knock off version of men in black. They said every moment of this film is lifeless robotic vomit. The critics burned it to the ground. the lead actor of the film even said he regretted everything about this movie. AND YET! The film prevails, thrives, and lives! RIPD is a film about two detectives hunting down dead people that just didn't want to stay dead. SIMPLE CONCEPT BRILLIANT EXECUTION!

French-American, Stephanie Szostak (show-stack) acts, writes and speaks. She is currently starring on ABC's hit series A MILLION LITTLE THINGS, is working on a book called "Oh The TiDDies You'll Grow!" and speaks to various organizations (from corporate to non-profits supporting immigrant women, teens and mental health) encouraging people to "find their truth... with love & humor." Szostak got a late start on the acting scene (age 30) and had the willingness to disrupt her life, leaving her career in the corporate world behind to seek an authentic life. Over the past decade, she has played alongside Meryl Streep, Robert Downey Jr., Jeff Bridges, Steve Carrell, Paul Rudd, Matt Damon, Kevin Bacon, Ryan Reynolds and more. Transforming her own false starts, setbacks, rejection and loss, she brings forward relatable and impactful stories to help anyone embrace their uniqueness. As part of that mission, she is passionate about encouraging people to discover their own truth and individuality. From being told "You should have never happened" as her career grew so did the pressure, causing her performance to be negatively affected by feelings of unworthiness and fear. In response, she began to work on her mental game and looked to the actors she was intimidated by for answers. She was surprised to learn they too suffered from negative inner dialogue. This pushed her to address mindset and discover its interconnection with performance. Fascinated by what she learned, she created her own “playbook” to incorporate new skills to be more confident and playful when the red light turned on. Knowing she is where she is only thanks to the help of so many, Stephanie thrives to help and connect people to support their pursuit of their darn naked truth! Most notable projects include The Devil Wears Prada, Ironman 3, Dinner for Schmucks, We Bought a Zoo, ABC's hit series, A Million Little Things and USA Network series, Satisfaction.
