Today’s Services That Sell student spotlight episode features the fabulous Micah Nicole, one of the first contractors I ever hired in my own business and it’s been a privilege to be able to watch her elevate her price points and do some amazing work with some of the most influential course creators and coaching program facilitators in our industry. Micah is obsessed with elevating the way female founders market, launch, and deliver their high-ticket coaching program. She passionately specializes in high-end, automated launch funnels, and organic visibility strategies for experts who crave serious and organic automated growth. Micah is a millionaire in the making, and in this episode, she gives a behind-the-scenes glimpse into how she’s been able to niche down and carve out her own lane in a saturated market to enroll eight thousand dollar clients into her program. Key Highlights of the Episode This episode was extremely actionable and insightful. Here are a few key highlights: Igniting the spark - While Micah was landing some four-figure clients with web design, it wasn’t making her happy. Taking a step back and figuring out what she was passionate about ignited the spark and led her to launch her signature service and achieve success. Do your market research - Micah was initially hesitant to set a high price tag. One way she overcame her money mindset was to look at competitors in the market. She realized they were charging four-figures for less robust services than what she was able to provide. Be efficient - Micah doesn’t like to do more work than she has to. This efficient approach allows her to hone in on the work that’s needed to get the optimal results for herself and her clients. Document your process - Micah understands that her audience’s needs don’t change. She has a clearly defined and efficient process to follow which allows some room to customize where necessary. Work out your “discipline muscle” - To achieve success in business, Micah recommends working out and getting it together in your personal life. Every time she works out she’s training her “discipline muscle” which transfers over to business. And lots more! Tune in now. Is it time for you to pivot? Whether you’re a coach, consultant, or service-based business owner, you need to be pivoting in order to protect your revenue. It’s time for a Hawk-Hustle table talk and we’re going to discuss some very important issues. Coronavirus has changed the world as we know it. Even though most people have a lot less money in their pockets than before, this doesn’t mean everyone is broke. You just need to understand what changes you need to make in your business. In this episode, I’m going to be raw and honest with you. We’re going to talk about what really matters. Even though you may not like everything you’re going to hear, it comes from a place of love and wanting you to get rich as you thrive in business and life. Key Highlights of the Episode This episode was extremely actionable and insightful. Here are a few key highlights: Update your message - Whatever marketing and messaging you were using a few weeks ago it’s probably not going to be relevant in today’s market climate. The coronavirus has changed the game and clients’ pain points are more visible right now than they have ever been before. Pivoting your promise - Does your promise meet the necessity of potential clients? Right now, people and businesses don’t have resources to spend on luxuries and niceties. They need their basic needs to be fulfilled. Your promise, therefore, needs to align with the basic necessities of clients. Don’t project your limiting money beliefs onto clients - You have to recognize your limiting beliefs and understand that while people have less money in their pockets than before, they’re not completely broke. Aligning with what people need and confidently offering them a specific and tangible solution will ensure you’re as profitable as ever. Keep selling - For a transformation to take place there must first be a transaction. Don’t give away your solution for free and don’t give discounts. People are still paying and in order to pay your bills, you have to keep selling and serving clients. How big before you pivot? - If you’re only making $20k - $40k a year then you need to continue making sales at a premium rate and doing excellent 1:1 client work. When you’re well beyond this threshold and operating at full capacity you need to consider pivoting your business model and leveraging beyond 1:1. And lots more! Tune in now. Are you struggling to get consistent results from your content? Do you know what kind of content creator you are? If you’re consistently putting out content and it’s not leading to sales then it’s time to take a pause. There’s a huge difference between getting likes from random followers and attracting an audience who have a specific problem that you can solve. In today’s episode, you’re going to discover which of the 3 types of content creator (The Consumer, The Creator, The Publisher) you are, and what kind of content strategy you should be pursuing in your coaching business to get the results you want. Key Highlights of the Episode This episode was extremely actionable and insightful. Here are a few key highlights: “The Consumer” - Consumers tend to follow everyone and are constantly consuming content. Consumers are so busy watching others’ content that they struggle to show up and present themselves. “The Creator” - Creators are focused on publishing content. They typically push their own content over and over again. While they tend to get plenty of likes, they may struggle with attracting qualified prospects and converting clients. “The Critic” - If you’re selling a high ticket item then you need to be a critic. Critics challenge the beliefs of their audience. They share their perspectives on topical and relevant issues that their audience is currently experiencing. Quality over quantity - It’s not about posting regurgitating other peoples’ content just for the sake of it. What’s more important is a consistent message that displays quality over quantity. Challenge beliefs - If you’re a critic, you’re not teaching people how to do something but you’re teaching people how to think. You’re challenging their point of view in a way that opens them up to something they’ve never considered before. And lots more! Tune in now. This episode features the powerful Tasha Booth, someone in the online space that I’ve been admiring for a while. Tasha is the founder and CEO of The Launch Guild, a course launch support and digital marketing implementation agency, supporting established coaches and course creators with course and podcast launches, operating and systems management, and content management and repurposing. She’s also the host of the How She Did That podcast. In this episode, Tasha gives a behind-the-scenes look at how she went from being an overworked VA to successfully leveraged her business into a multi-six-figure agency with over 20 members. Key Highlights of the Episode This episode was extremely actionable and insightful. Here are a few key highlights: What is your “why”? - As an overworked virtual assistant, Tasha began asking herself “What is it that I want to do? What is it that I love doing? What is it that I’m really good at?” These deep questions started the process of figuring out what her signature service was. Are you maxed out? - When Tasha was maxed out with 25 clients as a solopreneur, she had to change her business model. Since she enjoyed collaborating with others she decided to evolve her business into an agency. She is living proof that you can hustle yourself to six figures. But, this is usually the point when you need to pivot. From “I” to “we” - When Tasha pivoted to an agency model, she needed to learn to let go of trying to do everything herself and train others to do parts of her job. This shift allowed her to focus on being a CEO. Strategic focus - Tasha and her team carry out an annual plan to decide what the following year will look like. This ensures rash decisions aren’t made and she can take the time to ensure necessary infrastructure and processes are in place before anything new is introduced. Overcoming mindset barriers - One of the biggest limiting beliefs that Tasha has faced is “no one will pay that.” She overcomes her doubts by finding other people who have “already done it.” This lets her know what is possible. And lots more! Tune in now. This episode is brought to you by SERVICES THAT SELL: This episode was brought to you by my premium program, Services that Sell. If you’re a course creator, coach, or consultant and you’ve been wondering why your sales suck then you’ll want to listen up. If you can’t make money, you don’t have a business. And, if you don’t have a clearly defined sales process then you’re going to be relying on luck. Listening to this episode will help you take a client through a journey and set yourself up for success. I’m going to help you turn things around by giving you FOUR ways to fix your broken sales process. I want to ensure you can meet your revenue goals and confidently convert clients with ease. Key Highlights of the Episode This episode was extremely actionable and insightful. Here are a few key highlights: High ticket sales - It’s important to understand that selling a high ticket tiem is completely different from selling a low ticket item. The buyer psychology and processes required are completely different. What do we mean by a “sales process”? - A sales process isn’t about automated tools and complicated sales funnels. It’s a predefined set of interactions for identifying, qualifying, and converting prospects. You need to have your steps fully defined and documented. Identification prospects - You need to not only attract your ideal client but you need to repel those who you’re service is not for. If you have to beg for prospects to be your clients then you’re not attracting the right prospects. Qualifying prospects - What’s your screening process? You need to be clear on who can get on a sales call. Your sales process needs to weed out those who aren’t fit for your program. Converting prospects - Your sales process needs to convert. Just because you know you can help, your prospect also needs to believe it. It’s your job to communicate this. If you’re struggling to close, then I recommend checking out http://jereshiahawk.com/rightresponse. And lots more! Tune in now. Do you believe that lowering your price will increase sales? If you’re launching your signature service for the first time or you’ve been in the game for a few months and not getting the sales you expected, this episode will help. In economics, there’s something called the demand curve. It suggests that if you lower the price of your service, you increase the demand. But, what happens if you reduce your price to zero? Does this give you infinite sales? No! It’s way harder to sell something for free than with a price tag. If I see something for free then I tend to stay clear of it and question its true value. So, how should you go about setting your price? Tune in to find out more. Key Highlights of the Episode This episode was extremely actionable and insightful. Here are a few key highlights: A lower price doesn’t mean less friction - It’s normal to experience a lot of friction when you’re new to the market. While lowering your price may seem like a good idea to reduce friction, it won’t. This is a limiting belief that you need to overcome. Communicate your true value - When it comes to your service, you understand its true value. However, your prospects don’t yet understand this. It’s your job as a seller to communicate what you can do for your prospects in a way that they will comprehend. Don’t underestimate the importance of price - When it comes to sales, I believe price is the most important factor. It demonstrates the level of value your clients can expect. A high price tag communicates quality and attracts high-quality clientele. Don’t take the easy way out - Experiencing rejection and having prospects trying to haggle can be damaging to your confidence. Instead of taking the easy way out and offering discounts, you should enhance your ability to communicate your value. Raise your rates - If you’re lacking confidence and struggling to overcome sales objections then check out jereshiahawk.com/rightresponse. With the right attitude and tools, you can raise your rates and learn to become a beast at sales. And lots more! Tune in now. This episode features the fabulous Aleah Robbins who’s a great example for anyone who wants to overcome the fear of moving forward. Aleah is the founder of Left Brain Creative Group and her signature service is Branded to Sell, a branding program for product-based business owners who want to develop a stand-out brand identity to sell more products. She signed up for Services That Sell after she discovered this very podcast and decided to schedule a call with me. At the time she had just started her business and was scared at the thought of doing live videos and selling. Now, she’s getting out there and building alliances, growing her business, landing speaking engagements, and so much more... Key Highlights of the Episode This episode was extremely actionable and insightful. Here are a few key highlights: Document the process - Aleah was super scared at the thought of going live on video. Yet, when I gave her the advice to just document the process that she was going through, it allowed her to keep things simple and get her first video out there. Feel afraid and make the commitment - Even though Aleah feels the fear, she’s committed to doing the work. This has allowed her to become successful in short time span. She sees the bigger picture and realizes what she’s doing it for. She admits that you’re going to be uncomfortable either way, whether you go for it or do nothing. Get super specific - If you want to get results and have the impact you want, then Aleah points out that you have to get specific. Niche down, pick one problem and pick one person that you’re going to solve it for. Overcoming doubt and slowing down - Aleah admits that she used to always be in a rush. Now, she wakes up a bit earlier and gives herself more time. This has allowed her to gain a greater awareness of herself and her feelings and do what it takes to overcome them. Create a process and package your service - Aleah has been able to offer a comprehensive package that her clients need. Beforehand she would do things in bits and pieces. Taking note of typical client questions and teaching clients what they needed to know about branding is how she was able to create a packaged service. And lots more! Tune in now. Do you know how you’re supposed to go about pricing your coaching program? Pricing is something that can definitely be tricky. There are a lot of things to consider beyond hitting your income goals. Price is of particular importance if you’re about to sell your first service, or if you’re looking to release a new program that leverages your current offering. So, if you’re struggling with pricing then you’ll want to tune in to this episode. You’re going to learn about the three factors that really matter when you set your price. Key Highlights of the Episode This episode was extremely actionable and insightful. Here are a few key highlights: A coaching program isn’t the same as a digital course - If you’re pricing a coaching program the same way that you’d price a digital course then you’re probably selling yourself short and leaving money on the table. Coaching provides so much more value than a DIY course. What’s the promise you’re delivering? - The price of your program should be heavily dependent on the promise that you’re selling. Before you create a coaching program, you need to get crystal clear on the specific result that you’re guaranteeing. What support are you providing? - If you’re offering things like group coaching calls, one-on-one coaching, or another form of support then you should be charging more. When deciding on support it should be all about making it easier for clients to achieve results. What results do you want your clients to achieve? - The bigger the promise, the higher the price. Think about your clients’ return on investment and ensure you can communicate this to them when quoting your price. For me, if a client is paying $10,000, I want to help them make more than $100,000. Don’t overcomplicate - When you’re working at maximum capacity you need to resist the urge to overcomplicate your business model, marketing strategy, and everything else. If in doubt, keep it simple. And lots more! Tune in now. This episode is brought to you by SERVICES THAT SELL: This episode was brought to you by my premium program, Services that Sell. Are you currently looking to hire your next (or first) business coach? If you’re ready to invest in a coach or program then you’ll want to tune in to this episode. This gets me excited because I know first hand that having the right coach on your team positions you to have exponential results in your business. That’s why I’ve created an invaluable list of questions to ask any coach you’re thinking of hiring. Coaches are important for success. Just look at every successful athlete out there... The likes of Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant all have one thing in common… They’ve had amazing coaches. Key Highlights of the Episode This episode was extremely actionable and insightful. Here are a few key highlights: Finding a good coach isn’t easy - Anyone can claim to be a coach by writing a catchy bio on their social media page. This makes it particularly challenging when it comes to finding a legit coach. Ask the right questions - I put together a list of questions that you should be asking a potential coach. Asking the right questions is the best way to qualify the methodology and the person behind the methodology. If you are a coach then you should be asking yourself these questions as well. Is it clear what their area of expertise is? - You want to make sure that you’re hiring a coach with a specific area of expertise to help you achieve a specific result. If their promise is very general then there’s a good chance that they can’t really help you. How many services do they sell? - If a coach sells more than two different offers then be aware, especially if it’s a solopreneur (someone that doesn’t have employees or partners). There are only so many things an individual can focus on in a given day and selling three or more offers could mean that your coach has diluted their focus. How many clients have completed their program? - Signing up a client is great, but the bigger issue is how many of their clients are completing their program and getting the promised results. And lots more! Tune in now. This episode is brought to you by SERVICES THAT SELL: This episode was brought to you by my premium program, Services that Sell. This episode features the wonderful Claire Pelletreau, someone who has truly created her ideal lifestyle as her business has grown. She focuses on consistent quality over potentially burdensome growth, proving that bigger isn’t always better. Claire is all about Facebook and Instagram ads. While she may run the occasional client ad campaign, her core offerings consist of a course to get people running their own Facebook ads, and a mentorship program for those that want to grow a business running ads for clients. While working full-time at an info-product business, Claire gained all the expertise and confidence she needed to start her own business. Initially hustling for clients, over time she understood the true value of her worth, growing her business to six-figures and beyond. After enjoying this episode, I highly recommend you check out my episode on her excellent podcast, The Get Paid Podcast. Key Highlights of the Episode This episode was extremely actionable and insightful. Here are a few key highlights: Working with multiples - Claire sells online courses AND runs a mentorship program, she launched because her course clients wanted more. This allowed Claire to charge premium prices. However raising your rates and enrolling clients at your raised rates are two different things. Claire’s mentorship program is hugely transformational for the members because they gain access to her expertise and a whole community for support. Be an authority and have confidence in your abilities - When working with a client, Claire clearly sets expectations from the beginning. She has such confidence in her expertise that if a client experiences challenges, they trust and rely on her expert explanations without second guessing. Set your boundaries - Claire has given herself the freedom to be flexible in how she serves clients. She prioritizes her lifestyle over business growth. She doesn’t want the burden of running an agency and only chooses to work with a client if she feels their values align. Focus on your core offerings - Even though Claire focuses her efforts on her two successful core products it wasn’t always that way. She remembers creating other things that seemed like a good idea and after expensive launches, realized that no one wanted them. Know when to slow down and when to speed up - “If you’re on the beach, shouldn’t you just enjoy the beach?” Claire knows how to appreciate family and vacation time and points out that it’s a totally different world when you have a kid. There’s a time to speed up, for example, if a client is about to launch a new product, and there’s a time to slow down and focus on life. And lots more! Tune in now. Do you ever struggle to create content and get visibility on Facebook and other social media platforms? For so many of my clients, they know what they want to sell and have an idea of what their offer will be but getting the message in front of the right people is a major challenge. If you’re concerned about a lack in your visibility then this episode is going to be extremely helpful for you. I’m going to give you an introduction into how the social media game is set up, and how you can play it to your advantage. Key Highlights of the Episode This episode was extremely actionable and insightful. Here are a few key highlights: Understanding platforms - Social media is a vehicle to help amplify your message but your business model should never be 100% reliant on any one platform. If you’re purely reliant on paid advertising then you probably don’t have a sustainable business model. Knowing how the game works - Remember that Facebook (like all platforms) is a business whose objective is to make money. As a result, a standard post on your Facebook business page will only get 2% organic engagement. This is the algorithm and you have to accept that this is how the game works. Ultimately, Facebook wants you to pay for ads. The power of going live - Facebook and Instagram prioritize live video. As such, if you go live then you can expect a 10 - 16% organic reach. While this may not seem like much, it’s way higher than the 2% reach of a static post. The power of repurposing content - In order to spread your message further, you can repurpose content. Sharing a recording of your live video on your Facebook group is an excellent way to do this. You can also transcribe your live videos into written content and even release the audio as a podcast. Leveraging to maximize return - Why create a separate piece of content for your email list, YouTube, blog, and all other platforms? Instead create a single piece of content and leverage it by repurposing it for all platforms? You have to learn to leverage content to maximize your time and visibility. And lots more! Tune in now. After receiving with a bunch of great questions, I thought it was time for a little Q & A. You’ll want to tune in to this episode as I’m going to be answering some of your most popular questions. You’ll find out what my favorite planner is, what I do for self-care, how I go about creating content, how I structure my time, what you should be focused on, and much much more. I’m even going to be answering your questions about my eyebrows... Key Highlights of the Episode This episode was extremely actionable and insightful. Here are a few key highlights: What planner am I using? - Full Focus Planner by Michael Hyatt is now my planner of choice. It’s been created and crafted with the business owner in mind and is based on a 90-day timeframe. I use it every single day. Do you create 5 separate bank accounts when using Profit First? - Profit First is a business approach (and book) created by Mike Michalowicz that ensures you’re profitable from the very beginning. I highly recommend the method, especially if you’re making less than $250,000 per year. And yes, you need to have multiple bank accounts to help you manage your money. I have a primary checking account and several accounts for tax, expenses, owner’s compensation, etc. What’s my process for outlining my programs? - Before you think about creating a program, you have to get crystal clear on the end result that a client will accomplish. What’s the promise? When you have this defined you can reverse engineer the process and lay out all the steps of the process that each person will need to go through. What do I do for self-care? - For me, self-care is all about self-integrity, enforcing boundaries, and honoring what my body is asking of me. For example, when I commit to doing something, I always follow it through whether it’s in my business or my personal life. Other things I do for self-care include both yoga and float tanks. These are great for learning to be more present. How do I set aside time for myself? - One way ensure I have time to work on my business as a CEO (as opposed to working in my business as an employee) is to keep Mondays free of appointments. The rhythm you work at depends on your personality and the season of business you’re in. When starting out, it helps to determine consistent work hours to ensure you have free time for your family, social life, and other things. And lots more! Tune in now. Shawna works with individuals who attended medical school outside of the United States but want to complete their residency training in the United States. Don’t be afraid to reach out - Shawna initially sold her services to anyone that needed help and found things emotionally difficult. This led her to reach out and seek coaching to help develop the skills needed to build her business. The resistance is still there - Shawna admits that despite her success she still feels resistance. However, it became easier to overcome these challenges when she stopped accepting different types of clients and instead focused on her niche. Leveraging - Shawna is constantly evolving her business model. She made the decision to leverage what she had after finding herself repeating certain actions things over and over again. To serve more people, she moved away from the one-on-one business model to a hybrid model that allows her to serve larger groups as well. The difference between making money and managing money - Shawna is quick to point out the importance of quality. Not only does she provide a quality service to clients, but she also wants a lifestyle that is built around quality. This episode features the wonderful Kyshira Moffett who runs a program called the Founders Circle, working with freelancers and entrepreneurs to help them create their first packaged offer and sell via social media using an interactive sales method. Kyshira has been a client for a long time and I’ve had the privilege of being part of her powerful transformation as she’s gotten over the fear of charging a higher price tag that reflected her true value. Whereas before she would feel overwhelmed in her business, she now has an excited and optimistic outlook. You can hear the clarity and passion in her voice as she talks us through her inspirational success story. Key Highlights of the Episode This episode was extremely actionable and insightful. Here are a few key highlights: Where’s the money? - Even though Kyshira had an abundance of glowing testimonials, she still struggled to believe in her own value. She had plenty of clients but this wasn’t reflected in her bank balance. She had to change her outlook on money and put a price tag on the value she delivered.. Attracting better clients - After setting her higher price point, Kyshira noticed the clients she now attracted were much more passionate and willing to put in the work. This, in turn, encouraged Kyshira to level-up herself. Where is your focus? - Over the last few years, Kyshira’s business model has evolved. Being at full capacity and not being able to fully enjoy her life to the fullest led her to narrow most of her focus on her one core offering. Choose a coaching program for your level - Kyshira has worked with several coaches, with varying degrees of success. However, with Services That Sell, she found the right coaching program that was suited to where she was at, helping her to get to the next level. Slow down to move forward - Kyshira had to make a mental shift when she was at full capacity. Today’s episode is going to help you align yourself to the modern strategies and attitudes that are required to flourish in business. Back in the day, business looked a lot different from how it looks today. Sales were largely about charisma. If you were extraverted and people liked you, you could be successful. With marketing, big brands would simply hit you again and again with the same message until you bought what they were selling. The consumer was never educated and would simply go along with what the big companies told them. In today’s world, however, the consumer is much smarter and has all the information from the world wide web at their fingertips. Consumers are doing their research. They have countless options and have their own opinions about what they want. They’re not going to buy based on the charisma of a salesman anymore. That’s why, as someone selling professional services in the online space, you have to understand that credibility is the new currency. Key Highlights of the Episode This episode was extremely actionable and insightful. Here are a few key highlights: Closing a sale is just the beginning - There are so many courses that help you to go out there, pull the trigger, and close the deal to get your first sale. While this is important, getting the sale is just the beginning of the relationship, It’s not the end goal. That’s why you have to build credibility into your sales process. Your brand isn’t a logo or a service – It’s important to focus less on what your service is and more on what problem you solve. You need to have a specific niche that your product or service caters to. Your product or logo isn’t what differentiates you in the market. The problem you solve is what differentiates you. Services That Sell has a proven method to help you get crystal clear on this and to align your message with your ideal customer. Being credible before the sale - You need consistency with human-to-human connection. Are you consistently being visible? Are you consistently adding value? Is there consistency on your core messaging throughout your social media posts? Your content needs to be consistent with how buyers make decisions and if you’re not putting yourself out there and adding value to the audience in front of you then you will quickly lose that audience. Your content needs to be purposeful and it needs to show how you can get people consistent results Being credible after the sale - Selling is not the end goal. Maintaining credibility after the sale, therefore, means you have to have a documented, proven process in place that will get your client the results they desire and expect. You have to deliver on your promise. By doing so, you’re building on your credibility and setting yourself up for the next sale. Giving your services for free - There’s a common conception that you have to initially give away your services for free in order to earn credibility. I’m very skeptical about this practice, especially when it comes to the coaching business. If no transaction takes place, your client probably won’t be fully committed to putting in the work that’s required of them to get the results they want. Therefore, giving away your services for free like this can hurt your credibility. And lots more! Tune in now. This episode is brought to you by SERVICES THAT SELL: This episode was brought to you by my premium program, Services that Sell. My special guest on this episode, Kemi Doll, has been crushing it as of late! And she’s here today to give you some insight into how she’s getting it done. Kemi is a coach for women of color in academic medicine. She teaches women strategies to secure grant funding and how to build a strong foundation for an academic career that aligns with their values. After years of mentoring and giving talks on various issues, Kemi realized that she had a lot to offer. When developing a signature talk, she realized that what she was talking about could become a learning program. Kemi went down the route of trying to sell her offer through a complicated email funnel. Just before launching, however, she found Services That Sell and decided to change her approach. She flipped the funnel, re-packaging all her content to create a real service that would get real results for her clients. Now, she’s completely booked up for the rest of the year. Key Highlights of the Episode This episode was extremely actionable and insightful. Here are a few key highlights: Make a commitment - Upon signing up for Services That Sell, Kemi was committed to learning all the content of the course, regardless of how uncomfortable it would make her feel. If you sign up for a course or any kind of coaching program, you have to be committed. Be willing to answer some difficult questions. Promise one result - Kemi had trouble niching down. Even though her target audience was already small, the result she was promising was still vague. That’s when she started using results-focused language, making her promise of “Get that grant!” It was a very specific result and would force her to become committed to her clients. Promising a clear, tangible and measurable result takes true courage. Willing to fail – Despite being terrified at times, Kemi has a willingness to try new things out, even if it could mean failure. This is the perfect attitude for growth, especially if you’re following a proven methodology. She learns from each and every action, whether it’s posting on social media, going live on Facebook or having sales calls. If you truly want to help people, you will succeed – According to Kemi, the difference between someone that has success in Services That Sell vs someone that doesn’t is the desire and passion to go out there and serve. If you just want to make money, it’s much harder to be successful, because the courage and drive come from a deep desire to help people. Learning to sell – If you believe that you’re doing something wrong by asking people to pay for your services, then you’ll never be successful at sales. Kemi could never see herself selling until she changed her conception of what selling was. Now, she defines sales as inspiring people to take action. Once you change your mindset, selling becomes something totally different from the sleazy, dishonest stereotypes a lot of us have. And lots more! Tune in now. Why did you decide to start your business? Did you start out with a desire to completely change your financial situation and build wealth? If so, today’s episode is essential listening. The good news, if you have set up your own business, then you’re on the right track. Unlike full-time employment, you don’t have to grind out years and years of service before you get a seat on the executive board. Entrepreneurship gives you a fast track when it comes to getting rich in a relatively short space of time. However, getting rich and building wealth aren’t the same thing. A lot of you may already be successful in your business. You may already be rich. But building wealth is an entirely different thing altogether and requires a separate set of skills. Take buying a home, for example. This is probably the first “wealth” asset that you’ll want to acquire. But, in order to do so, you need to be making a certain amount of money from your business. To be approved for a mortgage, you may need to prove that you’re earning at least $80,000. And that’s not all! You need to have another $80,000 in the bank to afford the down payment. Can you see that getting into the wealth game carries a price? If you want to play the game of building wealth (and you weren’t born into a wealthy family), you need to get rich first. Key Highlights of the Episode This episode was extremely actionable and insightful. Here are a few key highlights: What does it mean to be rich? – Being rich can be both in terms of mindset and being financially rich. The two are not mutually exclusive. If you’re making over $100,000 a year then you can consider yourself rich. What does it mean to be wealthy? – Being wealthy goes far beyond being rich. When you’re truly wealthy, you will have such an abundance of financial wealth that the generation that comes after you will be taken care of for life. How to build wealth – Once you’re earning enough money to pay for the lifestyle you want, you can begin to build wealth, by taking your excess profit and investing it in assets, such as property, stocks, and investment funds. But, to begin to build wealth, you have to get rich first. The power of leverage – You can get rich incredibly quickly. My signature program, Services That Sell, has had countless members who are making big bucks from offering their services. However, the next step is to take what you’ve already got and leverage it. This is how you can multiply your earnings. And lots more! Tune in now.
Today’s episode features the success story of Danielle Adams, an organizational specialist and expert in efficiency who managed to establish her own company, Divine Inspirations Professional Services while learning to generate the income that her services deserve. Danielle has a full-time job, teaching second grade, and has always excelled in organizing and planning. She found herself being very passionate in this area. Before enrolling in my signature program, Services That Sell, she had acquired a few clients, but her price tag didn’t come close to reflecting her true value. Now, Danielle offers her services to service-based business owners. She essentially takes the stress out of things for her clients, allowing them to simplify their lives, become more productive at work, and enjoy more family and leisure time. Moving forward, she wants to continue having an exceptional impact on the lives of her clients by serving them the best way possible, while doubling her income. Her passion is contagious and she’s a great inspiration for anyone who’s thinking of starting a business, or if you’re ready to take your existing business to the next level. Key Highlights of the Episode This episode was extremely actionable and insightful. Here are a few key highlights: Build around your passion - Danielle is a great example of how to build a business that’s based around what you’re good at and what you’re passionate about. By the time she established her business, she was already an expert in her field and loved what she did. Enjoying what you do makes it so much easier to become successful. Take a step of faith - While Danielle confesses she didn’t know entirely what she was doing when starting her business, she had so much passion and was willing to take action. This is what makes her success inevitable. A shift in mindset - Before enrolling in Services That Sell, Danielle had only made a few dollars in her business, despite getting plenty of qualified leads on the phone. Once her mindset changed, she understood the true value in what she was offering. By charging a price that reflected her worth, she started making a lot more money. Serving your clients vs selling your services - Danielle continues to work hard in developing her ability to service her clients. Becoming a master of your craft is essential if you want to provide your clients with outstanding service. However, if you don’t know how to sell your services then you won’t have any paying clients to serve. Serving your clients and selling your services are complementary skill sets that are both essential in this game. How can you lose anything when you’re investing in yourself? - Danielle has an excellent mindset. When choosing how and when to invest in herself, her focus is based on where she wants to get to and not her current set of circumstances. Adopting this attitude will propel you forward and help you get to the next level. And lots more! Tune in now. What do you think it means to scale your business? In today’s episode, we’re going to talk about the most important elements in your business to determine whether you’re ready or not, and break down what it actually means to scale your business. In order to scale, you have to have three core areas in place: You need to be able to attract qualified leads to your business. This doesn’t just mean marketing your services to the general public, but communicating the problem you solve to qualified leads who would benefit from what you’re offering. You need to be able to convert your qualified leads into clients. You have to close the sale. I’ve found the best way to do this, by far, is through sales calls. It’s a tried and tested method that’s been proven time and time again. You need to be able to deliver your service consistently, utilizing a proven and documented methodology. Because customizing and having to change the way you do things with each client isn’t efficient. In my signature program, Services That Sell, I help my clients to get these three areas mastered. Without having these foundations in place, there’s no point in trying to scale. Key Highlights of the Episode This episode was extremely actionable and insightful. Here are a few key highlights: Making more money vs scaling - A lot of people mistake scaling with making more money. They’re not the same thing. Most of us are at a point where we’re ready to make more money, but not where we’re ready to scale. In fact, making more money is a by-product of successful scaling. Start with 1 on 1 - In the early days, working with clients in a 1 on 1 format is the best way forward. It allows you to charge a premium price while you’re developing your process and refining your methodology. Going through this process will eventually put you in an excellent place to scale your business. Always focus on the next step - If you don’t have a documented methodology, then focus on getting one. If you have plenty of qualified leads but no sales, then you need to learn how to close the sale. Always ask yourself: what’s the most important “next step” to move forward in my business? Don’t waste time on things like PR if you’re not yet achieving the results that warrant getting this kind of exposure. How much capital? - You shouldn’t need to raise any capital if you’re selling a service. If you were to develop a physical product then that’s another story. If you’re selling a service you should be able to fund your business yourself. Profit margins are usually ridiculously high in service businesses. This means that scaling can be achieved by reinvesting your profits and avoiding external financing. And lots more! Tune in now. When it comes to achieving results, a lot of the time, you may have all the pieces you need but you haven’t quite figured out how to slot them together in the right order. Today’s episode is all about the process that you should be focusing on when it comes to building your business. When I was getting into the digital space and finding out what was required to sell my service and get things going in the right direction I didn’t focus on selling. I think this tends to be common with individuals who don’t have experience in sales and therefore think they need to grow an audience and create lots and lots of content before they begin selling. Content creation and building a following are part of the process. However, these are not what will allow you to begin generating revenue in the beginning. If you don’t know how to sell, it doesn’t matter how much content you’re creating. If your content doesn’t convert and lead people to take action then you’re not doing things in the right order. If you don’t yet have an offer to sell then it doesn’t matter how well you understand how to technically set up a Facebook ad or set up a lead page or set up a course. You need to know what problem you’re solving and what steps you’re taking the client through. This is the foundation. Key Highlights of the Episode This episode was extremely actionable and insightful. Here are a few key highlights: In the beginning - Until you get to the point in your business where you’re consistently making around $5,000 a month, then don’t waste time trying to do everything. There’s only one thing that really matters, and that’s figuring out exactly what your offer is. Figuring out the problem that you’re going to solve is like the seed from which everything else in your business will grow. Making the right choice - I fully understand how hard it is to figure out what your offer is going to be. If you have numerous ideas floating about in your head then it can be especially difficult to make a committed choice. That’s why you should have a proven framework, like what we have with Services That Sell, to make the decision-making process much easier for you. Is your ego coming into play? - Are you working to get a huge number of followers, likes, and shares to gratify your ego? Or are you working to help people make real-life transformations while making a whole load of money in the process that gives you the life you’ve always dreamed of? Beware of your ego coming into play and keep reminding yourself why you went into business in the first place. Transaction before transformation - Understand that if you really want to help someone to have a life-changing transformation, a transaction has to come beforehand. This is true in all aspects of life. For someone at McDonald’s who wants a transformation from being hungry to being full, there first has to be a cash transaction before they receive their food. Serving over selling - What’s the best way to sell your service? Forget about the stereotypical sleazy car salesman who won’t take “no” for an answer. In order to sell honorably, you have to realize that you’re allowing someone to have a life-changing transformation. Instead of trying to sell them what you have, it’s better to think of the sales process as inviting a potential customer to join you in a way that serves them. And lots more! Tune in now. This episode is brought to you by SERVICES THAT SELL: This episode was brought to you by my premium program, Services that Sell. My guest today is Danielle Tucker is living an extraordinary life, traveling the world while running a successful niche web design business. Even though she’s been doing web design for well over a decade she entered the online space four years ago when she and her husband decided to quit their jobs, sell all their possessions, and book a one-way ticket to South Africa. Embarking on a nomadic adventure, she became incredibly motivated to start an online business while learning how to service the needs of clients while traveling abroad. Before successfully landing big clients via the lean launch method, Danielle spent a lot of time and effort niching down. After enrolling in Services That Sell, she was able to get crystal clear on her ideal type of client and what it would take for her to stand out and portray the value she could provide them with. She’s worked hard to niche all the way down to help speakers through her web design. Applying the lean launch method, she is able to convey the value she can provide, helping her customers to book more speaking engagements and get their message across to their audience. Key Highlights of the Episode This episode was extremely actionable and insightful. Here are a few key highlights: Invest big for big transformations - Leading up to her enrollment in Services That Sell, Danielle invested in a handful of coaches, consultants, and strategists. She came to realize that the bigger the price tag of an investment, the greater the level of transformation she could expect. Market to your ideal client - While this sounds simple, so many business owners try to market to everybody. Instead, try to get in the head of your ideal client. Get down to the finest details. Do your research and you’ll be able to figure out exactly what they need from you. What feels fun vs what’s really needed - When building your business not everything is going to be 100% enjoyable. Sometimes it’s easier to focus on what’s fun and forget about what actually needs doing. This is when a bit of discipline is needed as you have to push through any resistance and focus your efforts on what’s needed to make the greatest impact on your business. The lean launch - Danielle has been able to land a bunch of five-figure clients from utilizing the lean launch sales method. This simple, two-step approach involves putting out live videos and converting clients over the phone. Danielle has had to overcome a lot of nerves, but by planning for success, she’s pushed through all her anxieties and is now converting clients consistently. Knowing your figures - Are you intentionally taking the actions that will get you the results you desire? Danielle found herself becoming very intrigued by how certain people can work less yet earn more money than others. Knowing your figures will allow you to reverse engineer what you need to focus on in order to earn a specific income. And lots more! Tune in now. For many of us, the thought of being laid off and losing our job spells the end. Not for today’s guest, Peachi Williams, who merely switched her focus to what was really important to her. Despite establishing her side hustle, The Write Mixx, back in 2004, she continued to work a full-time job for well over a decade, creatively helping to shape the brand of a multinational corporation. Over the years she’s worked incredibly hard, developing her talents in both writing and marketing. After consuming a lot of free content and implementing a few things in her business, she eventually decided to overcome her fears of pivoting and enrolled in Services That Sell. This led to her establishing her signature service of teaching “brand voice,” something which is integral for any businesses wanting to connect with customers. Shortly after, she found out she was losing her job, a frightening thought for most people. However, Peachi actually welcomed the change since she had refocused her attention on her own company, pinpointing her niche and putting tight systems in place. In literally no time at all, clients started knocking at her door, including a highly impressive $14,000 contract. Key Highlights of the Episode This episode was extremely actionable and insightful. Here are a few key highlights: Stepping stone - Working a corporate job isn’t always a dead end street. In fact, there are many positive aspects you can take away from it. It’s an opportunity to learn and grow as you overcome challenges and develop the skill sets that will eventually make you successful in business. Are you helping yourself as much as you’re helping others? - Peachi came to realize that she was often lending a hand and helping out other people succeed in their businesses. Yet, she never really gave herself the help that her own business needed to succeed. Rather than watch by as other businesses grew, she decided enough was enough and it was time to make a big investment that would propel her in the right direction. The first time isn’t always flawless - After attempting to complete Services That Sell, Peachi found herself coming to a standstill and her progress in the program came to a halt as her life was very hectic at the time. After a phone call, I urged her to re-commit and she got back on board, more determined than ever. Sometimes, things don’t run smoothly the first time around. There are times when you have to re-commit and be willing to do whatever it takes. What to do with all that expertise - Peachi was highly confident and competent in her area of expertise. The vast experience she’d accumulated made her an expert in her field but she didn’t quite know what to do with it. She credits the STS Facebook group and its wonderful participants as a motivating factor in helping her to continue niching down until she found her ideal signature service. Do it again… and again if necessary - Peachi hasn’t simply worked through Services That Sell the one time. She made the decision to work through the material a second time in order to enrich her learning and enhance her understanding. By going through the material a second time, she’s sharpening the sword and becoming even more effective in business. And lots more! Tune in now. Do you want to know whether or not you can sell the service you’re providing before going out there and launching your business? While there are a few things you need to get clear on beforehand, you can probably start selling a lot sooner than you think. Today I’m chatting with Melody Gross who recently enrolled in my Services That Sell program. She’s currently a full-time director of marketing and communications for a local nonprofit and has a side hustle where she provides marketing and communications services for other nonprofits. It’s amazing to see how Melody is able to get clear and hone in on the specific problem she’s solving for her clients. The only way to 100% prove that your service will sell is to actually go out there and sell it. You don’t need a huge audience or a big email list before you sell. However, the one thing you do need is to get clear on the problem you’re solving. If your goal is to create a signature service and earn top dollar then you’ll need to get specific. If you’re struggling with this then try speaking to someone who really understands what you’re trying to accomplish, like a proven coach. Just ensure that you’re talking to a giraffe and not a turtle when it comes to your business. If you’re ready to get inspired by hearing Melody get focused on her business then listen to the podcast on iTunes today. Today my special guest is the incredible Quiana Darden, who was finally able to achieve the success she desired by switching up her approach. While working in education, she tried her hand at starting several businesses, none of which really worked out. Despite this, she wanted to keep her dreams alive. After getting frustrated with the traditional sales funnel, she enrolled in the Services That Sell program. Now she successfully provides search engine optimized blog posts for service-based business owners and digital product creators, selling her specialized service for a premium price point. Services That Sell was a great fit for Quiana. In her own words “it allows you to look at things in a different way… It pushes you to raise your price. It pushes you to niche down. It pushes you to do things differently to the way that everyone else says to do it”. If you’re ready to hear Quiana’s amazing story in her own words then listen to the podcast on iTunes today. Today my special guest is the inspirational Niccole Nelson. Despite working for the postal service for 23 years and raising three kids, she’s found the time and energy to make it happen for herself. Life was extremely tough growing up and Niccole is living proof that no matter how hard things have been in life, you truly deserve the best things that God has for you. Despite working with a prior coach and being committed to her business, Niccole got tired of living in her comfort zone. That’s when she discovered and enrolled in Services That Sell. Now, she’s flipped the funnel and gone from charging around $500, to as much as $2,700 for her service, a highly personalized gifting concierge business. Niccole admits that she was afraid when climbing out of her comfort zone. Because it would require her voice. And she felt her voice never mattered before. When it comes to Services That Sell, she’s a big fan of the Facebook group. While there are many social media groups out there, she has really felt like part of a community of positive people that are all here to support one another. Today’s podcast is part 3 from my Services That Sell premium course that has taught countless individuals how to hit a four-figure monthly income. If you haven’t checked out part 1 and part 2, then I highly recommend going over them before continuing. Because today I’m going to introduce you to something that will give you a laser-like focus and have you charging forward as you build momentum. The POP method is just the thing to discover the marketing and sales strategy that produces the largest ROI. The POP method was designed to declutter everything in your environment so you can focus on what’s going to get you results. Things like building a personal brand may be important, but what I’m recommending is so much more powerful. Here, you’re becoming known for solving a specific problem using your methodology. You’re building a personal service brand. Sales That Sell is a masterclass training where I break down exactly what you need to do in order to roll in high ticket clients consistently. The POP method is only part the proven methodology that we share with all our students. If you’re ready to start serving your clients while selling your services consistently then listen to the podcast on iTunes today. I also strongly urge you to subscribe so you don’t miss any of this free content that could help turn your business (and life) around. For more information, visit www.jereshiahawk.com/podcast
Today’s podcast is part 2 of my Services That Sell premium course that has taught countless individuals how to hit a four-figure monthly income. If you’ve successfully followed part 1, then you’ll already know what specific problem you’re going to sell. Now it’s important to determine what’s the most profitable way to package your offer and deliver your service. While I’m going to outline three options, you’ll also want to decide which one is most suitable for your business idea and how to go about providing a premium experience for your clients. It’s about working smarter, not harder. You can expand your product offerings in the future after you’ve laid a solid foundation. However, in the first twelve months, concentrate your efforts on one thing at a time. And remember, you don’t have to wait until you have a large audience before you start selling. Just determine where you’re at and choose the best of the three delivery methods to use. If you’re ready to go deep into the 3 types of services you can sell then listen to the podcast on iTunes today. I also strongly urge you to subscribe so you don’t miss any of this free content that could help turn your business (and life) around. For more information, visit www.jereshiahawk.com/podcast
Today’s podcast is part 1 of my Services That Sell premium course that has taught countless individuals how to hit a four-figure monthly income. When I began building my business, I was still a full-time engineer. After working my day job, I’d be grinding until 3 am every night, yet it was bringing in virtually nothing. What I was doing just didn’t make sense. I was intent on creating complex sales funnels, getting potential customers to jump through hoops in order to eventually get to my $3,000 high ticket item. My low ticket, $10 offers weren’t solving my clients’ problems. They were merely putting band-aids on their bullet wounds. That’s when I decided to get rid of my low ticket offers and flip the funnel. Understand that what’s simple to you is someone else’s struggle. If you’re really passionate about solving a specific problem that other people have, then you may have found your signature service. Now we can really get started. If you’re truly ready to understand the power of a signature service then listen to the podcast on iTunes today. I also strongly urge you to subscribe so you don’t miss any of this free content that could help turn your business (and life) around. For more information, visit www.jereshiahawk.com/podcast
