Piše Marica Škorjanec Kosterca, bereta Aleksander Golja in Eva Longyka Marušič. Uvaja ga opozorilo, da so osebe, dogajanje in kraji plod bogate avtoričine in bralčeve domišljije. Kraji dogajanja se menjujejo. zapisovalka živi z družino v Ljubljani in občasno obiskuje kraje nekdanje skupne države Jugoslavije. Največkrat potuje v Bosno in Hercegovino, njene začasne postaje so: Sarajevo, Mostar, Čapljina, Zenica, Banjaluka, Tuzla in Brčko. Svoja erotična doživetja in telesna občutenja opisuje nazorno in realistično. O nezaželenosti in zavračanju. Pisateljica Miša Gams spretno prepleta problematiko migracij z ljubezensko zgodbo med alžirskim migrantom in poročeno slovensko intelektualko. Zelo podrobno in realistično opisuje spolne odnose in položaje. Gotovo bo ta povezava tragike in ljubezni, zanimivih predstavitev krajev, oseb in dogodkov pritegnila pozornost bralcev in bralk. Svobodna ljubezen, prikazana v literarnih delih, ne dopušča moralističnega vrednotenja. Slog pisanja občasno spominja na prozo legendarnega Charlesa Bukowskega. Protagonistka je nad ljubimcem globoko razočarana in prizadeta, saj je zanj žrtvovala skoraj vse.
I find today's episode is incredibly appropriate as for some reason, the very subject matter we're going to touch on happens to be so relevant. See, I was bullied a lot when I was a kid. Something I'm sure many of you can relate to. I'm from a different time where I was taught to strike a balance between sucking it up to recognizing bullying from just playful schoolyard teasing to standing up for myself even if it meant a bruised lip when other person went over the line. I however cannot speak to some of the particular traumas that some people have experienced from their childhood and have unfortunately carried on way into their adult life...and sadly, in their workplace as well. Because truth is, personally, in the grand scheme of things, I'll admit that I never took the time to put a label on it. But as much as my tendencies would have me believe otherwise, some of the worst bullies can often be found in the very place where you work. Workplace bullying is a very real thing. There's an actual prevalence of it in North America. A January 2021 Workplace Bullying Survey survey conducted by the Workplace Bullying Institute estimates 30 percent of Americans have suffered abusive conduct at work. That's about 48.6 million Americans. if this numbers seem unreal. Imagine the stories of the people who have experienced these incidents in the first place. I believe it made for an interesting and educational exchange as today's guest, Zenica Chatman, graced this humble podcast with her insights, expertise, wit and incredible truth. I admire people who have tapped into their purpose with a clear sense of direction and drive and Zenica is one of those. Zenica is a certified personal and executive coach, workplace trauma expert, trainer and speaker helping her clients rediscover their inner strength and confidence. As a trained journalist and communications strategist, Zenica uses her unique background to help her clients reimagine what's possible for them and design a career and life they love. She decided to take a stand against corporate bullies after she was left emotionally broken by a pair of workplace bullies at the height of her career. Once she realized that too many women (especially women of colour) had experiences similar to hers, Zenica decided to take a stand against workplace bullies and help other women learn to stand up, speak out and be heard in the workplace and beyond! This episode is an emotional one. Zenica's story and mission are truly noteworthy and it's an honour to bring you this wonderful exchange. How do you rediscover your inner strength and confidence after workplace trauma like bullying or discrimination? How do you get back to a place of happiness at work? We'll learn all that and more from my guest today. It's happening now on Boss Better Now.
Zenica Chatman is a life coach with a professional background in journalism and communications. While working as a communication strategist in what she initially excitedly thought of as her dream job, Zenica became the victim of workplace bullying by her manager. She felt like she was really crushing it at work, and yet her manager found ways to make even her strengths seem like a bad thing. She was continually put down and told that she was the weakest team member regardless of her attempts to make improvements. Looking back at her performance evaluations and skills assessments, Zenica soon realized that there was no factual basis for any of the bullying she received about her job performance. After doing some research, Zenica learned that 30% of American workers report being the victim of workplace bullying. “The new job did not heal me from the trauma that I experienced in the old job. That same person who didn't have any confidence, who was taking an hour to send simple emails, she went right on into that next job. And so there was a lot of inner work that I had to do in order to get back to the person that's talking to you today,” shares Zenica Chatman, life coach. If you are being bullied at work, you are at a higher risk of burnout. Between working harder to try to stay ahead of the criticism, stress over being talked down to, and the fear surrounding the possibility of needing to change jobs, there are a lot of factors that tend to pile up and cause burnout. Workplace bullying destroys confidence and often does not have a satisfying resolution from the company. It is important to learn how to move forward and heal from workplace bullying in order to succeed at your next job. Workplace bullying is unfortunately a common experience, even with remote workers. Bullies often convince you to believe lies about yourself, so it is important to stay clear on the facts. Tune into today's episode of FRIED. The Burnout Podcast for a conversation with Zenica Chatman about how to recover from workplace bullying, so that it does not lead to burnout. Quotes · “I was in an environment where even my strengths now are being used against me.” (8:07-8:11 | Zenica) · “That was the summer that George Floyd was murdered. And so it sparked this whole conversation in the workplace about diversity, equity, and inclusion. And I was in all of these different social media groups and on all these different chats, and I was hearing the stories of other women of color, mostly black women, who were having identical situations to me. And that was very scary to me, that these women that I didn't know in different states in different industries, we're all describing exactly the same scenario. And that just prompted me to say, is this a thing? Is workplace bullying a thing? Is that real, did I make that up? And come to find out, no, I didn't make it up. Actually, 30% of American workers report being bullied.” (8:42-9:32 | Zenica) · “I think particularly when you're a woman in the workplace, and when you're a person of color, you know when you're being mistreated, but we all will start to lie to ourselves because we don't want to be that person. We don't want to be that person of color that says, ‘I think I'm being discriminated against,' for whatever reason.” (14:39-14:56 | Zenica) · “The new job did not heal me from the trauma that I experienced in the old job. That same person who didn't have any confidence, who was taking an hour to send simple emails, she went right on into that next job. And so there was a lot of inner work that I had to do in order to get back to the person that's talking to you today.” (24:05-24:29 | Zenica) · “Once I saw on that StrengthsFinder that what they said was not true in black and white. They said I wasn't a good communicator, but my actual assessment says that I was. Went back through old assessments, communication was always at the top and never, ever, ever not been a great communicator. And I started to say, what other lies did they try to put in your spirit that are not true? And so I started to peel back all the lies and I got very clear about what was true.” (29:49-30:18 | Zenica) · “Those environments have a way of making you believe things about yourself that are not true. So what's the lie that your environment has tried to put on you that is absolutely not true? And then replace it with the actual truth.” (30:53-31:07 | Zenica) · “Usually, HR is not going to help you. So you have to learn how to validate the experience for yourself so that you can move forward without resolution from the company.” (31:56-32:09 | Zenica) · “Why am I going to kill myself for a job that if I die tomorrow, they won't even trouble themselves to call my mother and send her a card? Because now I have clarity on what is important to me, and I don't feel like I'm sacrificing anything when I set boundaries for myself.” (56:10-56:37 | Zenica) Links https://cuely.ai/FRIED https://bearaby.com Connect with Zenica Chatman: Website: https://www.zenicachatman.com/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/z_chatman/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thenapministry/?hl=en XOXO, C If you know that it's time to actually DO something about the burnout cycle you've been in for too long - book your free consult today: bit.ly/callcait https://friedtheburnoutpodcast.com/quiz Podcast production and show notes provided by HiveCast.fm

How can managers and leaders address racially fuelled workplace bullying? Zenica Chatman joins host William Corless in this episode to explore the topic of racially fuelled workplace bullying and what mangers and leaders can do to address it. Zenica is a certified personal and executive coach. As a trained journalist and communications strategist, Zenica uses her unique background to help her clients identify what's no longer working in their lives, discover their unique strengths and design an action plan to create a life they love. Her journey into coaching and positive psychology began after being left emotionally broken by workplace bullying at the height of her career. In the aftermath of that experience, she went on a path to redefine her own self-worth and what it means to be successful. After realising that too many women were struggling to find their own voice as they carved out new paths in their lives, she decided to help other women stand up, speak out and be heard in the workplace. This led to her becoming the founder and leader of “Surviving Corporate!” A programme for women of color, recovering from workplace trauma. Today's guest is Zenica Chatman. Zenica was working in corporate America as a communication manager when she was the victim of a bullying episode at work. She took her own experience overcoming her situation and now she is a coach who works with women of color who have been bullied in the workplace. In our conversation, we first focused on the problem of bullying in the workplace in general. We had a very practical conversation on what people can do to address and prevent the problem. Zenica had excellent specific advice from all perspectives, and she shared what victims, HR people, corporate leaders and peers can do. Then we zeroed in on the specific challenges that women of color face in the workplace, and why it is important to tackle the problem specifically for them.
