Is defensive tackle a legitimate concern for Ohio State heading into the 2026 season?Tony Gerdeman and Tom Orr examine the biggest questions surrounding the Buckeyes' interior defensive line, beginning with the expected step back at nose tackle following the departure of Kayden McDonald. Can Will Smith Jr. and UCF transfer John Walker provide enough disruption in the middle? Does Ohio State have the depth necessary to play its preferred fronts? And can Jason Moore finally establish himself as a dependable member of the rotation?Tony and Tom also discuss the possibility of one of the true freshmen earning meaningful snaps and explain why the development of Eddrick Houston could determine the ceiling of the entire position group.Houston has shown flashes, but after battling a knee injury last season, Ohio State needs the former five-star prospect to become a more consistent and disruptive presence. The arrival of James Smith may ease some of that pressure, but the Buckeyes still need answers throughout the defensive tackle room. Are these concerns justified, or does Ohio State already have enough talent and experience to remain strong up front? What Level 2 Autism Can Look Like | Lauren Murray (S9E12)

The Autism Dad Podcast

Play Episode Listen Later Jul 15, 2026 15:57

“Most people don't even tag her with autism, because she's smart, she's so articulate.” Lauren Murray Lauren Murray is a New Jersey mom of two, and her daughters are almost twenty years apart. Her oldest is about to turn 21, a UCF graduate thriving in Florida. Her youngest is four, level two autistic, with sensory processing disorder and a short list of safe foods. She is also, in Lauren's words, doing fantastic. In this Seen and Heard episode, Lauren gives Rob an honest look at a day that starts at six in the morning and does not end until nine at night. Her husband works long days, so most of the week she is her daughter's sole care provider. Lauren is a former teacher who kept a tight schedule at home, and school does it even better, down to the minute, and her daughter loves it. Then there is the part so many parents will feel in their chest. Lauren's daughter is bright and verbal, she speaks better than most of her peers, and that is exactly why people do not believe she is autistic. At the park, one mom packs up her kids and leaves every time she sees them coming, because Lauren's daughter does not understand personal space and just wants to play. In public, a meltdown gets read as a bratty toddler, when the truth is they have done everything from A to Z to get ahead of it. And the win. Flying home from a day trip to visit her oldest in Florida, their flight got canceled. They spent the night in the airport, then got emergency landed at an airport none of them had ever seen. Her four-year-old took the whole thing in stride, iPad, comfort snacks, a blanket Lauren packed just in case, a bench, and a kid who just went with the flow. Lauren also names something a lot of families hit. In New Jersey, the services show up the moment you are diagnosed, but if you do not use them inside six months, they close your file. Not because you will never need help, just because you did not need it that week. What you'll hear: “She took it better than I did.” Lauren Murray This episode is sponsored by Mightier, a biofeedback emotional-regulation gaming program for kids, developed and tested at Boston Children's Hospital. Kids play games that get harder when they get dysregulated and easier as they calm down, so they practice regulating themselves in the moment. His activism has taken him from rallies and city council meetings to whistleblower interviews and direct confrontations with figures such as Joe Biden, Peter Hotez, Jeb Bush, and local Orlando officials. During COVID, he helped organize opposition to lockdowns and mandates, bringing firefighters and vaccine-injured individuals before Orange County leadership, contributing to state action under Gov. Ron DeSantis against COVID shot mandates for local firefighters. More recently, partnering with Stand for Health Freedom, he helped end water fluoridation in over 20 Florida communities, paving the way for a statewide ban, and aims to inspire others to "be the change" through conscious choices and civic engagement.   Social Links: X: https://x.com/JustinWeRchange  IG: https://www.instagram.com/justin_wearechange/?hl=en  FB: https://www.facebook.com/share/1DCXHgkhda/?mibextid=wwXIfr  The desire to go off grid and have the ability to grow your own food has never been stronger than before. For more information, visit wernerhoffman.com or call 1-800-320-HELP. Former UCF Knights defensive end Randy Charlton (2018-20) joined the Sons of UCF for an interview about his time in Orlando. A highly recruited defensive player out of Miami, Charlton flipped to UCF late in the recruiting cycle thanks to former defensive coordinator Randy Shannon.  As soon as Charlton got on campus, he made an immediate impact, ultimately playing in every game during his true freshman season. However, the play he is most remembered for that year was an errant penalty against LSU in the Fiesta Bowl. Charlton went on to have a productive season for the Knights in 2019 under the tutelage of coach Shane Burnham. Unfortunately, the COVID season of 2020 got off to a rough start for the Knights on the field, as they lost close games to Tulsa and Memphis. Off the field, Charlton and several other teammates were involved in an incident with campus police, which ultimately led to his dismissal from the program.  Charlton wound up at Mississippi State, where he finished his college career for the Bulldogs under legendary head coach Mike Leach. In the years since, Charlton has continued to pursue his dream of playing football, which has seen him make stops in the NFL, CFL, IFL, and UFL.  Today, Charlton is still actively training while he waits for another opportunity to crack an NFL roster.  #ucfknights #ucf #ucffootball Learn more about your ad choices. In this episode of On The Mark, Mark Immelman welcomes Carolin Pinegger (Austrian national team alum, UCF golfer, former LPGA/Symetra player, and now coach + social media star). Carolin shares what it was like competing on Big Break: Myrtle Beach—five weeks isolated, long production days, constant cameras—and why that experience made competitive golf feel easy by comparison. From there, the episode becomes a masterclass on what really wrecks swings: Tension, driven by brain “traffic.” Carolin explains how to train your brain like a muscle, use breathing to shift from “red” (overstimulated) back to “green,” and build dependable systems that hold up under pressure. Then she delivers a set of at-home drills (no range required) to improve grip, sequencing, pressure shift, and putting start line—using everyday items like a hammer, mirror, towels, and books. In This Episode, You'll Discover:  What Big Break pressure is really like (cameras, no phones, 3 hours sleep) Why tension happens — and how the brain's “traffic” affects your body The mindset truth: You don't rise to standards — you fall to systems How to move from “red” to “green” using belly breathing, and Why at-home motion training works (less “hit ball” mode, more learning.) Carolin also share 5 Game Improvement drills you can do at home: Drill #1: Hammer & Hinge (fix grip + wrist set, stop early elbow fold) Drill #2: Backswing Sequence (Mirror) (hinge → arms → shoulders → hips) Drill #3: Mirror Depth Check (hands near heels; match top position to your shot shape) Drill #4: Flow / Pressure Shift (towels under feet for rhythm + movement) Drill #5: Book Putting Gate (start-line training + “through” mindset.)  Key Takeaways: Your brain is trainable. Treat it like a muscle and build routines that lower “traffic.”  Pressure kills feel. Systems hold up when nerves show up. Grip + wrist function matter. Many swing issues start with the trail hand and early elbow fold. Sequence starts in the backswing. Build separation in the backswing, then keep moving through. Putting begins with start line. You can't make it if you can't start it on your intended line. This podcast is also available as a vodcast on YouTube.  In fact it is recommendable to watch it so you can learn exactly how to do the drills.  Search and subscribe to Mark Immelman.

This is a free preview of a paid episode. To hear more, visit www.splitzoneduo.comHost emeritus Steven Godfrey joins Richard and Alex for a look back at the Big 12's extremely public flirtation with expansion a full decade ago. It was a strange spring and summer in 2016, as the Big 12 basically put on realignment tryouts for a long list of schools including several (BYU, UCF, Houston, and Cincinnati) who did get into the conference — but not until years later, when others dominoes had fallen. Let's revisit the summer of realignment that wasn't, and then let's think about how it changed the next decade of college football. In this episode:* 0:00: Why the realignment fashion show became so public* 8:10: The now-quaint factors that drove realignment decisions back then* 12:28: The candidate pool, including Houston and Cincinnati's very different campaigns, BYU's many complications, UCF before the Scott Frost/Josh Heupel run, and SMU before it became an ACC playoff team* 32:02: Why the process came down to BYU, Cincinnati, and Houston. (Also, why the Big 12 was genuinely scared of Houston)* 43:48: Counterfactuals: whether earlier expansion would have changed Texas and Oklahoma's exit, the Pac-12's collapse, or the expanded playoff's politics around non-power teams* 56:08: The afterlife of the public audition, from Memphis and Sacramento State to the next round of conference-movement anxiety.Everyone can hear a free preview of this episodeTo get the whole thing, become a paid subscriber today.
