The books are a modern nod to Louisa May Alcott's Little Women, and they've won tons of awards including the National Book Award for Young People's Literature, several ALA Notable Children's Book Awards, and the Massachusetts Children's Book Award.Since recording this interview for RAR episode 100, Jeanne unknowingly planted the seed for my own book, A Little More Beautiful, the Story of a Garden when I visited her and her Northampton, Massachusetts, home. He also directs The Center for Sexuality & Health Disparities. Rob's work focuses on the intersection between sexuality and sexual health, examining how social stressors and inequalities create increased risks for poor sexual health. You can find some more information about Rob's work here and follow him on twitter and the Center for Sexuality and Health Disparities here. Rob's research is fuelled by the fire of social justice and aims to change people's lives for the better. He shares his journey from volunteering as an HIV tester and counsellor, to his work in Telehealth today. We discuss how stigma is a shapeshifter and how it could easily be an X-Men character (Marvel, we are interested in collaborating on creating such a villain). His work with gay men couples looks at the complex links between stigma and relationship violence. We talk about the need for more representation of relationship types for gay relationships (we shout out Schitt's Creek..again...come on as a guest Dan Levy please). Rob discusses the importance of reducing stigma in the world- not only asking people to cope 'better' with stigma. Finally Rob shares words of wisdom about not chasing two rabbits at once, and when feeling froggy...jump.Episode hosted by Dr. Carmen Logie. Original music and podcast produced by Cozmic Cat. As an entrepreneur in 2019, the reality is that most people are launching a course, a membership, a group program, and hosting a retreat all at the same time or within the same year. I did a podcast a few weeks ago with Suz Chadwick, a very like-minded business owner who is based out of Australia and we got to talking on her podcast about focus. I’ve gotten so many messages from people in her tribe about how badly they needed to hear what I had to say in the episode, so I wanted to dive deep into it on the podcast today. There is an epidemic in the online space of people who are making videos in a fancy car, dressed up in designer clothing, and telling you that they have the blueprint to instant success. That drives me CRAZY! I’ve had countless clients tell me that they’ve bought these programs to try and that they didn’t work for their business. The people who are selling these are (most of the time) capitalizing on the gigantic boom that is going on right now with info products. They might be putting in $1 to their own business and getting $.50 out. Most of these people have a “spend money to make money” mentality, which is not going to be profitable or give you long term success when building a business. What I’m seeing is that you have people creating these products that haven’t worked with anyone or others who are just dabbling in the online space to try out different things. Following one of these blueprints has a tiny chance of success, and they usually just lead to a BIG mistake. That big mistake is starting initiative after initiative with no time in between to really SELL your product successfully. If you want to know how you can get the maximum results out of each product or service that you launch, keep listening! Like what you hear? Apply to work with us! Click here.

In this episode, Dr J reflects on his experiences with running multiple businesses and how he always ensures his primary source of income, his practice, is getting the most of his attention. The same thought process can be applied to chiropractors who want to add too many services without focusing on the primary chiropractic services. If You Chase Two Rabbits...

If you chase two rabbits, you will not catch either one. Sometimes we can do the same with spiritual practices---we try to take on too much. Go small---we should ignore all the things we could do and do what we should do. Big success comes when we do a few things really well. What's the one thing for us? What are we passionate about? It's about taking what we have been offered uniquely and giving it to the world.

There’s an old Russian Proverb that says “If you chase two rabbits, you will not catch either one." This is the way life can feel for people like us.  We’re idea people and we have ideas popping into our head all the time.  We want to catch every single one of them and we end up catching nothing. This week, you’ve heard me talk about this resource quite a few times. It’s a book called The ONE Thing by Gary Keller and Jay Papasan.  I just finished it up today and I can tell you, this book was MADE for people who listen to this show: Mindset - Productivity - Self-DIscipline - Purpose These are all major heading in this book. The authors do a great job of illustrating why it’s vital we focus on and FINISH The ONE Thing in our life at this moment which will make all other things unnecessary or a lot easier. The Domino Effect Gary and Jay talk about the Domino Effect. In fact, today I saw a video where someone illustrated this perfectly. You have a MASSIVE goal, but you just have to finish the ONE thing that’s most important right now.  When you know over that domino, by finishing that one thing, it will help knock over the even bigger domino that’s next. Then by finishing or knocking down that domino, we help knock over the next bigger one.  Watch the Domino Effect Video. You’ll see how knocking over one TINY domino, you cause a chain of events which knocks over a massive domino in the end. Pereto Your Tasks If you go back to this past Tuesdays episode (#126) How to Pereto Your Way to Productivity, you’ll hear about he method Jay and Gary use to focus our attention on the tasks that are most important. They use a tool I used as a development engineer in the semi-conductor industry.  The Pereto Effect. 80% of your outcomes are caused by 20% of your inputs.   80% of your sales come from 20% of your customers The 80-20 rule.   Why Discipline is Important The authors scared me initially because they said “Discipline wasn’t important.”  Well, I thought they said that.  They share why so many of us can’t sustain our discipline. Because we’re trying to be disciplined in too many areas. Maintain your discipline in ONE area, until that area becomes a HABIT. Once something is a habit, it is a lot less taxing on our discipline.  Then we can use that energy on another area we’d like to make into a habit.  The Focusing Question. This isn’t just a book of theory, there are real tools you can put into play right now.  Like the Focusing Question. The question you need to ask yourself in order to figure out what you should be focusing on RIGHT now.  It’s in Chapter 10 of the book…   This book is a book YOU would benefit from reading right now. I listened to it on Audiobook and I’ve loved every minute of it.  I’ve implementing the processes they outline and I’m feeling a lot more clarity about what I should be doing right now. Like this Podcast… my ONE thing for today.
