It wasn't a classic by any means, but Mikel Arteta's men did enough to win the game thanks to a goal from Mikel Merino – and his role at centre-forward is an ongoing talking point in part 1. We also chat about how well Arsenal dealt with nullifying Chelsea's attacking threat, the solidity of our defensive platform, Wesley Fofana's lucky escape, and all the other in-game incidents. Then we answer listener questions about Jurrien Timber and his contribution this season, Arteta's preferred striker profile ahead of the summer, our Champions League hopes, a Chelsea Mount Rushmore, some #angeout, and lots more.Get extra bonus content and help support Arseblog by becoming an Arseblog Member on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/arseblog Hosted on Acast. Everton are actively planning on having Jarrad Branthwaite with them next season as Manchester United turn their attentions to Bayern Munich's Matthijs de Ligt. Dutch publication De Telegraaf reports that Manchester United have offered Netherlands international De Light a five-year contract as they continue transfer talks with the Bundesliga giants. The 24-year-old who is in Germany, preparing for Ronald Koeman's side's European Championship last 16 clash against Romania (5pm kick-off) in his current home ground in Munich, has become an increasingly viable option for Old Trafford chiefs in recent days and while David Ornstein of the Athletic reported on Saturday that United's move in independent of their ongoing Branthwaite interest, their own requirements to meet PSR rules would make deals for both prohibitive. An offer from United last month of £35million plus adds for Branthwaite was deemed unacceptable by Everton and rejected out of hand with the Blues maintaining they will not be bullied into selling their most-valuable asset on the cheap with claims of a Goodison Park ‘fire sale' this summer wide of the mark.  Given the £80million fee that United paid for Harry Maguire in 2019, the £75million Chelsea paid for Wesley Fofana in 2022 and the £77million Manchester City paid for Josko Gvardiol in 2023, Everton consider their breakthrough star of last season to be in the same bracket, especially given the premium for both left-footed defenders and homegrown talent. Unless a mega offer comes in for Branthwaite, Everton now expect him to be part of Sean Dyche's squad for the historic final season at Goodison Park and with the end of the previous football financial year now over, the ECHO understands the Blues do not want to or need to sell the centre-back who celebrated his 22nd birthday last week. Nick is joined by Dan Hill (@idanknow05) & Akash Hebbar to discuss the impending Wesley Fofana signing, the Champions league draw & Chelsea's gutsy 2-1 victory over Leicester with 10 men.  With Conor Gallagher getting sent off within half an hour we discuss his difficult start to life in a Chelsea shirt. We answer your  listener questions on numerous topics including: -Does recruitment solve all our problems? -What were the most pleasing aspects of the performance & what needs to improve? -Will Conor be given another chance to impress? -Do we loan Conor out again or let Tuchel work with him -Why does TT play Conor in pivot instead of RLC? -Was Kai staying on a statement to the board by Tuchel about signing a striker -Do Broja & Pulisic deserve a chance next week? -Give Ampadu a chance? -Slonina  -What would you rate Leicester performance compared to Leeds? -Would you rather have the ability to see 10 mins into the future or 150 years into the future?
