Topic 1: CISA Under the Microscope CISA was called out in the Project 2025 document as a left-wing organization inside the government due to their warning about election interference. It is now subject to cuts and scrutiny. In the mass firings at DHS on February 14th, 130 employees at CISA were fired as they were “probationary” employees. Many MSPs and MSSPs subscribe to CISA.gov alerts. It is unclear how this will be affected. Wherever you stand on politics or related topics, small business needs a good source of security alerts we can rely on. What's your take? Topic 2 (AI, of course): Was DeepSeek revolutionary or just the next obvious step in the evolution of AI? From Geekwire: Satya Nadella's response was, "Jevons paradox strikes again! . . . As AI gets more efficient and accessible, we will see its use skyrocket, turning it into a commodity we just can't get enough of." What do you think. Just another step in the evolution of AI? Or is there news here? See: - https://www.geekwire.com/2025/microsoft-ceo-says-ai-use-will-skyrocket-with-more-efficiency-amid-craze-over-deepseek/ - Wikipedia on Jevon's Paradox: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jevons_paradox - ChatGPT now has 300 million users (https://backlinko.com/chatgpt-stats) - Google Search has 1 billion regular users, and now includes Gemini results at the top of every search - Microsoft CoPilot has about 30 million users (https://www.businessofapps.com/data/microsoft-copilot-statistics/) - Adobe Creative Cloud has about 30 million users and includes AI in all products (https://photutorial.com/adobe-statistics/) Topic 3: Will Microsoft compete with you - or your SOC? Now available: Microsoft Defender Experts for XDR Says Microsoft: "Our expertise is now your expertise. Augment your teams across security, compliance, identity, management, and privacy with Microsoft Security Experts." See https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/security/business/services Is this service worth considering, or should Microsoft put those resources into fixing security problems in their deployed software? The pages makes it sound like this will have a major human-led component, but that's exactly what they are NOT doing. Will you jump on board or wait to see if this is real first? And will this help Microsoft cut payroll, or just require more hiring? We welcome your feedback! :-)

Will Microsoft soon take the throne from Apple? We delve into the perceived lack of innovation from Apple and the escalating investments from Meta in the AR and VR industry. And, what's this about Vuzix joining the AR glasses realm? As always, we make sure to cover where the best deals are for Black Friday and, surprise surprise, they're not in tech! From pre-packaged Thanksgiving dinners to unpredictable furniture sales, we leave no stone unturned. In the world of stocks, we're focusing our sights on up-and-comers in the EV market, while keeping our eyes peeled for traditional car stocks, a hot topic for our hosts. In the spirit of the season, we dish on our favorite Thanksgiving foods and introduce you to the mythical beet sandwich. Will this be the year a $10 Thanksgiving feast goes viral on TikTok? To wrap up, we delve into a sports update and share our current stock picks. Buckle up and let's get started; you don't want to miss this episode of Capitalist Investor."War for the Tech Giants:Microsoft and Apple are locked in a battle for world dominance, with Microsoft on its way to overtake its traditional rival. While Apple faces criticism over a perceived lack of innovation, particularly in virtual reality, a wildcard enters the fray. Meta has built a considerable investment footprint in AR and VR technology. The hosts also spotlight Vuzix, a stock specializing in augmented reality glasses and seen as a potential acquisition candidate. The Illusion of Black Friday and Cyber Monday Discounts:Once steeped in both anticipation and buyer's remorse, Black Friday and Cyber Monday could potentially lose their luster this year. According to the hosts, packaged goods and appliances might see the biggest price drops, while tech and furniture prices could stagnate. They also discuss how consumer attitudes have shifted, with less confrontation over mispriced items. This trend could affect the sales of big box stores dealing with compressed margins and a reduced sales forecast. The Unhealthy Reality of Processed Foods:Thanksgiving brought about a wave of patrons looking for cheap meal options, and the hosts sounded the alarm over heavily processed and unhealthy options. They weigh in on the health implications based on their own experiences with fast food and condemn the false economy and health risks of rock bottom prices when it comes to what we put on our plates. The Rise of the EV Market:Amid discussions about growth and green initiatives, electric vehicles (EVs) have piqued the hosts' interest. They cover stock movements from earlier in the year, interest rate hikes affecting businesses, and the current market valuation. The hosts show particular interest in a company with significant potential in the EV space, setting them up as potential winners in the EV market.OpenAI under the microscope:The hosts dive into the dismissal of OpenAI's CEO and what that may mean for Microsoft. Speculation arises over how this could affect Microsoft's strategic plans and whether they may incorporate OpenAI's technology into their own products. Similarly, Elon Musk's involvement with OpenAI comes under scrutiny, with speculation mounting about his intentions and any potential developments.

In a major victory for Microsoft, a federal judge has ruled in favor of the company, denying the FTC's request for a preliminary injunction to block the $69 billion deal to acquire Activision Blizzard. The ruling means that the deal can now move forward, pending further review by the FTC. The FTC had argued that the deal would give Microsoft too much power in the video game industry and that it would stifle competition. However, the judge found that the FTC had not presented enough evidence to support its claims. Microsoft president Brad Smith said that the company was “grateful” to the court for its decision. “This is a great day for Microsoft and our gaming fans,” he said. “We are excited to welcome the talented people of Activision Blizzard to our family and to continue to create the best games for our players.” The ruling is a major victory for Microsoft, and it is likely to have a significant impact on the video game industry. It remains to be seen whether the FTC will appeal the ruling, but for now, it appears that the deal to acquire Activision Blizzard is on track to close. What to Watch for Next The FTC has not yet said whether it will appeal the ruling. If it does, the case could go to the Supreme Court. In the meantime, Microsoft and Activision Blizzard will need to continue to work on getting the deal approved by other regulators, such as the CMA in the UK. It is also worth watching to see how the deal affects the video game industry. Will other publishers try to acquire their own major studios? Will Microsoft use its new size and power to make it more difficult for other publishers to compete? Only time will tell what the long-term impact of the deal will be. But for now, it is a major victory for Microsoft and a significant development in the video game industry. #Xbox #Gaming #PrimeDay

On April 26, the United Kingdom's Competition and Markets Authority announced its intent to block the $68.7 billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard by Microsoft, the largest merger and acquisition deal ever in gaming. The regulating body argues that with franchises like Call of Duty in tow, Microsoft will take over the small-but-growing cloud gaming market. The deal's not dead, but how will the challenge in the U.K. affect its ability to close by July? Will Microsoft and Activision Blizzard push forward and dare regulators to sue them? Axios' reporter Stephen Totilo joins Jacob to discuss the monumental deal and the hurdles it will face moving forward. You can follow Stephen here. Learn more about your ad choices. Sony has announced a shock price rise for the PlayStation 5, and in a Eurogamer Newscast special, we're here to discuss why the company has pulled this undoubtedly unpopular move - and why it's likely to get away with it. Will Sony sell fewer PS5s as a result? It seems unlikely. But it's more pressure on PlayStation, which has already had to defend its £70/$70 price point for games - including the upcoming The Last of Us: Part 1 remaster - and just this week announced an expensive-looking new PlayStation 5 controller. At a time when all of us are looking at our bank balance's bottom line, an extra £30 to buy a PS5 marks not just an unprecedented decision by Sony, but a troubling sign of the times. Will Microsoft now feel emboldened to follow suit, or soak up any extra costs as a point of difference? Tom Phillips, Ed Nightingale, Victoria Kennedy and Ishraq Subhan discuss.
