In this week's episode of The Cycling Podcast, Daniel Friebe is joined by Richard Abraham & Swiss journalist Emil Bischofberger to look ahead to next week's World Cycling & Para-cycling Championships in Emil's home town, Zürich. We discuss the city's, ahem, generally lukewarm feelings about the Worlds & whether they may have changed in just over a week's time. We also look at the courses & zero in on the home nation's medal hopes, which rest mainly on the shoulders of Marc Hirschi.  Also - & perhaps most importantly - what's Tina Turner got to do with it? In this episode of the 10Adventures podcast, we catch up with Nate Jetter, a cyclist and adventurer who first joined us over a year ago when he was just starting his journey. Back then, Nate was navigating his way through Europe with little cycling experience, but a lot of determination. Now, he's in rural Australia, having cycled across multiple countries, from the Balkans to Turkey, and even backpacking through Southeast Asia after a health setback.   We discuss Nate's ever-evolving travel plans, the beauty of spontaneous exploration, and the unique experiences that come with slow travel on a bike. Nate reflects on some of his favorite spots, including the hidden gems of Montenegro and Bosnia, and shares stories of unexpected encounters that made his journey unforgettable.   Don't miss this episode if you're looking for inspiration to embark on your own adventure. Today Harrison grills BT about why he's afraid to take Mrs T to Europe for her birthday, they touch on their big night out watching the Boomers, discuss how we can capitalize on the momentum of women's sport in Australia and what role government funding plays within that, they pondered why AFL clubs are so secretive about minor injuries, before chatting with the voice of world cycling, Matt Keenan.   Born and raised in the northern suburbs of Melbourne, Matt fell in love with cycling as a young lad, he dreamed of going to the Tour de France, and after many years of hard work, methodical dedication to his craft and passion for his sport, he eventually got to the Tour, just not as a cyclist as the dreams suggested. Instead, he's now the main man on SBSs coverage of the Tour (and many other of the world's biggest cycling events). With a ground-breaking world championships and a rejuvenated National Circuit Series to reflect upon, and the Ryedale Grand Prix and Tour of Britain to look forward to, co-hosts Timothy John and Phil Jones, the Managing Director of Brother UK, have much to talk about in this packed episode of the Brother UK Cycling Podcast.  Highly-qualified sources offer additional insights. Who better than Performance Director Stephen Park to offer a view from inside the Great Britain Cycling Team's wildly successful world championships in Glasgow? With a table-topping medal haul in both para and able-bodied events, ‘Sparky' offers his observations on cycling's first multi-discipline world championships and his ambitions for next year's Olympic Games in Paris.  Our preview of the Ryedale Grand Prix contains insights from defending champion Abi Smith, a professional cyclist with the UCI Women's WorldTour squad, EF Education - Tibco - SVB. As defending champion, Abi's athletic accomplishments alone would qualify her to comment, but Ryedale is also her home race. Enjoy insights on arguably the hardest course on the National Road Series from a rider who's ridden every inch of it from her earliest days as a cyclist.  The Brother UK-sponsored Tour of Britain is now mere weeks away. Tim and Phil consider the eight-stage course and the wider context in which the race will be held, both economic and environmental. As a business with multiple awards for its sustainable practices and presenting partner of the Green Zones at this year's Tour of Britain, Brother UK's interest in professional cycling's journey to sustainability is sincere and rooted in the company's commitment to a zero-carbon future.  Listen now to enjoy a detailed analysis of all the latest developments in elite road racing on British soil, with additional insights from the managers and riders of Brother UK-sponsored teams and from Larry Hickmott, the founder and editor of Brother UK-sponsored VeloUK.net.

The World Track Cycling Championships have been taking place in Glasgow, and the home crowd have had plenty to cheer. Success included Neah Evans, and her partner Elinor Barker, crowned world champions in the Madison, a team event as much about tactics as strength and speed. A crash in the race threatened to derail everything, but was Neah's previous experience as a veterinarian surgeon the difference in seeing them over the line?!Sport and music can sometimes have an uneasy relationship, from professional athletes with questionable vocals or novelty groups releasing silly songs about winning the World Cup or drinking at the World Cup. Or both. Well with the release of their fourth album 'Grand Salami Time', The Baseball Project have proved that great music and great sport can mix. Hardly surprising though, the group is made up of two members of R.E.M, one of the best known artists of the last thirty years. Scott McCaughey, often referred to as the unofficial 5th member of REM, is also part of the Project and told us about their unique mix of beats and baseball, home runs and hit singles. We are also at the Women's World Cup where New Zealand are preparing to host their last game, the semi final between Spain and Sweden. The co- hosts' welcome will live long in the memory, as will their win over the former champions Norway in the opening match... but it has also meant an introduction to a Māori traditional dance called Poi. I first had the pleasure of interviewing Victor in Episode 039 of the podcast. Victor had been on a bike tour to follow the footsteps of the famed philologist and orientalist Alexander Csoma de Koros, author of the first Tibetan-English dictionary and grammar book. Victor chose to use a bike to follow the route that Csoma walked, taking him through places such as Turkey, Kurdistan, Iran, through Tajikistan into the famed Pamir Highway, across the border into Wakhan Corridor, Pakistan and then finally into India where he finished his trip at the place where Csoma is buried in Darjeeling. Now, having finished his expedition and written a book, Victor has been on the move again, embarking on some pretty amazing cycling adventures.
