The Entrepreneur vs. Employee Mindset Hi everyone, Carl Gould here with your #70secondCEO. Just a little over a one minute investment every day for a lifetime of results. So, a main question we'll ask an owner is, ‘what keeps you up at night?' Oh my God, and the list is like this long! You know when we ask your team, ‘what keeps you up at night?' You know what the number one answer is? ‘I sleep fine.' Seriously, they're like, ‘What keeps me up at night?' Nothing, I don't know, what are you talking about? ‘Well, I got kids, you mean that?' No, I mean what keeps you up? Are you concerned about your work life? But keeping it maybe, doing it, I'm fine. What else do I need to know? That's the number one answer we get is, I sleep fine. Ok, so we need to cut into their sleep a little bit. Follow, we need to, now I get it, there's a reason why they are employees, because they don't like the risk, that's the main difference between you and your sales person, you and your admissions team, you and any part of your team. Like and follow this podcast so you can learn more. My name is Carl Gould and this has been your #70secondCEO.
Podcast Summary: In this episode of the Customer Service Revolution podcast, John DiJulius discusses the critical aspects of customer experience and employee engagement. Current work experiences are essential for developing service aptitude. Companies must invest in customer experience training. Removing personal interpretations is key to consistent service. In this episode I explore the challenges and limitations that the current corporate approach to Agile presents. Agile has devolved from a dynamic framework into a rule-bound guidebook that often prioritizes pleasing corporate structures over innovation. This "employee mindset", and its focus on maintaining the status quo stifles innovation - and speed. I challenge you to embrace an agile spirit that favors experimentation, flexibility, and a willingness to break free from rigid frameworks. The conversation also addresses the need to help Agile teams focus on value creation and client impact - instead of adhering strictly to prescribed processes. I invite everyone to rethink their approach to Agile and to prioritize outcomes and impact over traditional rule-following. It's time to let go of the fear of failure and to cultivate a bold, adventurous spirit in the pursuit of excellence and service. **CHECK OUT ALL MY PRODUCTS AND SERVICES HERE:** https://learning.fusechamber.com **ELEVATE YOUR PROFESSIONAL STORYTELLING!** The most coveted communications skill - now at your fingertips! https://learning.fusechamber.com/storytelling **JOIN THE FORGE*** New cohort for 2025! When most people think of running a business, they imagine making lots of money, traveling the world, and working less. May Yeo Silvers calls this the CEO mindset. While this lifestyle is achievable, it requires a lot of groundwork. In this episode replay, she explains the difference between a CEO mindset and an employee mindset. May points out that letting go of the employee mindset is the first step towards building a successful business, and that entails focusing on investing in your business and being prepared to go the extra mile. Unlike employees, CEOs take on more risks because they are accountable for the outcome of every decision. Before starting a business, it's really important to understand what being a CEO truly involves. Tune in to this week's episode to know the key differences between a business owner and a CEO, the value of investing in your business, and how defining your “why” can help you shift from an employee mindset to a successful CEO. Quotes • “When you own a business and you know how to run your business, your business is profitable and your business can run without you, you certainly can enjoy the fruits of your labor where you make a lot of money and work very little, very few hours, have minimal involvement in your business, except for critical decisions and communication with your key staff who is running your business. You can take vacation anytime. So, that is the dream life of a CEO or a business owner. But in order to get there, there is some work that needs to be done.” (05:01 | May Yeo Silvers) • “As a CEO, you are the only person. You have to make all of the decisions and you have to go figure things out.” (07:32 | May Yeo Silvers) • “In order for your business or your side hustle to become a full-time job, you have got to stop thinking like an employee.” (12:54 | May Yeo Silvers) • “A CEO is up for challenges. A CEO loves the potential for great results and they're not afraid to fail.” (15:55 | May Yeo Silvers) Links If you are ready to turn your passion for events into a profitable business instead of an expensive hobby, your lowest cost of investment to find one of the best resources in the events field is our 24 course Business Kickstart Bundle, at only $24! One of the most difficult psychological shifts for new business owners is going from an employee mindset to a business owner mindset. Most of your life, you've likely operated as a consumer: waiting for a paycheck so you can take care of your expenses. And when things get challenging in the economy, your instinct is to tighten the purse strings and focus on saving. But as a business owner, you have many opportunities to make investments in your business, which have the power to pay for themselves many times over. So in this episode, we're exploring the importance of spending *strategically* in your business to drive growth. Listen in now to make sure you are thinking like the business owner that you are and want to be, instead of the consumer that you used to be. --------------- Mentioned on this Episode 3 Tips for Combatting Imposter SyndromeOvercome Scarcity Mindset as a CopywriterFace Your Freelance Finances FearsWant to Earn Six Figures as a Copywriter? Let go of your employee mindset and start thinking like the entrepreneur that you are Congrats! You're officially a business owner. You have the LLC, you're making money, you're setting your schedule, and the icing on the cake is that you can work from wherever in the world that you want. You've ditched the golden handcuffs and have set out to create a life of your own design -- and on paper, it's everything you've always wanted. The thing is, even though you're technically your own boss, you still feel like you're working for someone else because you feel obligated to answer those late-night text messages from your clients or ask for approval to take some time off. I get it, sweet friend, because I've been in this awkward “in between” stage of entrepreneurship, too -- where you have your own business, but feel like you have to be available for your clients at any given time. In fact, for a couple of years after I started my own business, I still felt like I was working for someone else because my clients had such a strong grip on me. Even though I was a business owner, I was operating with an employee mindset. Eventually, I hit a breaking point -- and it was then that I discovered a new way of thinking that helped me fully step into entrepreneurship. In this episode, I share my experience of shifting from being self-employed with an employee mindset, to thinking like an entrepreneur -- and how it helped me grow my business while enjoying all the freedoms that entrepreneurship can bring. You'll learn: The difference between being self-employed and an entrepreneur How to determine if you're still thinking like an employee What you can do to start thinking like an entrepreneur The difference between a scarcity mindset and an abundance mindset (& why it's important) This is a great listen for anyone in business, whether you're just getting started or have been in the game for a while (and have yet to experience what it means to be a true entrepreneur). Here's a glance at this episode... [03:25] So many entrepreneurs feel like they still work for someone else even when they are working for themselves. [04:37] It takes work to shift from being self-employed with an employee mindset to becoming a true entrepreneur. [05:43] When I first started as a business owner, it was difficult because my clients had extremely high expectations and unmanageable deadlines. [08:30] I realized I was done with client work when I was on a tarmac being screamed at by a client. [09:23] Operating with a scarcity mindset is the quickest way to play small as an entrepreneur. Yousee limitations as opposed to opportunities. [12:43] After the tarmac incident, I started to unboss myself and make the mental shift from an employee to being an entrepreneur. [15:33] To live in abundance, start operating with the belief that there's enough money and enough success to go around. [17:23] When you shift your thinking, you'll start to run your business and your life exactly how you want, and fully step into your own as an entrepreneur. [17:38] Homework: Open up your notebook and write down all the ways you are operating with an employee mindset. Rate, Review, & Follow on Apple Podcasts "I love Amy and Online Marketing Made Easy."

Welcome to Episode 26 of the Profitable Web Designer Podcast, where we're committed to helping web designers to stop undercharging, overdelivering, overworking, overworking and create profitable, sustainable web design businesses. I'm Shannon Mattern, your host and founder of the Web Designer Academy where we teach the business side of running a web design business, and if you wanna make a consistent, full-time income as a web designer but you're struggling with things like pricing, boundaries, mindset and marketing and you're EXHAUSTED from going it alone… well, my friend, you're in the right place. Love the show? Tap here to leave us a rating and review! In this week's episode I'm chatting with Lauren Newton about why she decided to invest in her business and how she broke free from the employee mindset! Lauren has 14 years of web experience, and after 5 years of freelance SEO, she joined the WDA in 2021 to add a secondary web design layer to her business. In the time since she joined, she went from charging $1500 for a month's work to creating a pricing strategy that was actually sustainable based on her skills! “Running your own business, in a way, is like buying an IKEA desk and having to put it together with no instructions... Having a program that's there for you is like the instruction manual you need to be successful.” - Lauren Newton Key takeaways from my chat with Lauren: Anything you take consistent action on will work. There are a million different ways to tackle a goal, but you need to find what aligns with you. Impostor syndrome tags along with each new level you reach in your business, but it's still possible to have a successful web design business with it. Technology, strategy, and platforms are constantly evolving, which means everyone is winging it. You don't have to have a massive chart of experience or feel super established to be qualified. “I had to realize I'm an expert and accept that I know what I'm doing, I'm good at what I do, and I can bring value to people… I am the person I want to be.” - Lauren Newton We also talk about how Lauren: Felt unsettled by losing the comfort zone of having a day job, where the only validation she needed was in getting the job itself versus owning a business where getting a new client doesn't always carry the same weight. Joined WDA because she saw Shannon as someone who had once been in her shoes and accomplished what Lauren herself wanted to do and was now teaching others to do the same, which stood out from other business coaches. Made one small shift in her positioning which completely changed the type of ideal client she was attracting. PS - Get exclusive insider strategies from the Web Designer Academy and advice from our five-figure month earners on how to make at least $10k every single month as a web designer by adding your name to the WDA waitlist now.

Do you focus on the value you're offering in your job? Or are you thinking more about “what's in it for me”? These are two very different mindsets that create vastly different outcomes. ----------------------------------------------- Welcome to Ever Better Today: the daily podcast for creating your optimal business, career, or overall life in ten minutes or less. I'm Lisa Conners Vogt, Executive and Leadership Coach and founder of Ever Better Coaching and Consulting. Let's jump in! ----------------------------------------------- In chapter four of Cal Newport's book entitled “So Good They Can't Ignore You”, he describes two different approaches to thinking about work - a craftsman mindset versus a passion mindset. In Steve Martin's book, Born Standing Up, he describes his constant work to craft better performances. His passion for the work grew with his expertise and accolades. Crafters mindset & Entrepreneur mindset Crafters and entrepreneurs focus on the value they are producing for someone else. Entrepreneurs collect information, interpret it in their own way, and create something transformational for the world to consume. They take in information, apply their interpretation and create something new - transformation. Passion mindset vs Employee Mindset In the employee mindset, individuals are focused on how their jobs make them feel and what they're getting out of their jobs rather than emphasizing the contribution, transformation, and advancement of others. This revolves around the “what's in it for me?” culture. Real-life examples following information, interpretation, and transformation flow… Steve Martin took information about magic tricks, comedy, entertainment at Disney, and quirky personalities. He interpreted all this information in his own way and created an act that only he could do. He made an artform that entertained his audiences and shifted comedy forever. With this podcast, I'm interpreting information from books, my professional and personal experiences, and my education and transforming it into podcasts. My hope is that these podcasts help you and others to elevate their businesses, careers, and overall lives. Episodes 99, 100, 101, 102, and 103 describe just some of the takeaways from So Good They Can't Ignore You and Born Standing Up. There are many other lessons in these books so I encourage you to read or listen to them. yourself! You can find them here. ----------------------------------------------- To learn more about working with Ever Better, send me an email here or book a complimentary call with me here
We up today because we got moves to make, thank you for listening to Nuts and Guts podcast, I am your host BLK Paco. I had some time to drop some thoughts on y'all been a busy week out here. Your mindset is everything and when you run a business your focus gotta be right. You can't let your ego take over when you run a successful business, be willing to take early to late calls. Balancing time is everything but always invest in yourself for a greater purpose out here. I had my years of being an employee and random layoffs; you get tired of that. Most can't understand mind over matter. Clocking out when you the owner takes planning but I'd rather be in control of my time.Discussion:-Health-Focusing-Employee vs Boss thinkingAs always, this episode is brought to you by Smokefreemedia, brought to you by Blk Paco. “If you want to be able to move on your terms and be ready for any challenge and opportunity, it's important to avoid comparing yourself to others… be your own competition out here”Share, like and drop me a review. Today I'm going to break away from the fundamentals of short-term rentals and discuss something super important. If you have a full-time job but dream of building your business, you have to make sacrifices initially. You can focus on your short-term rental business after your regular work hours or during the weekends. You can build this business from whatever free time you have. And most importantly, you have to shift your mind and break out of the employee mindset. So how do you do that? That's what I will share with you in this episode of Arbitrage to Equity. “Know what your goal is and stay focused on that.” - Tom Swan In This Episode: - How reframing your mindset can change your life. - Helpful resources to reframe your mind. - Employee Mindset vs. Entrepreneur Mindset and why I recommend STR. - What can daily affirmations do for you? - Are you thinking BIG? What is your dream life? There is no limit to what you can achieve. Jeff Heggie Daily Success Strategies 559: Employee Mindset vs Entrepreneur Mindset The Peak Performance System for High Achievers [FREE]: https://jeffheggie.com/peakperformance There are two different time systems: Employee and Entrepreneur Dan Sullivan of Strategic Coach teaches that there are two different time systems that the world operates in. The Employee mindset measures everything by two things: time and effort · These are the people who feel that because they have put in the time, they've given the effort required to feel entitled for some kind of reward. · “Hey, I put in the time, therefore I put in the energy and the effort. I should get paid, have an amazing marriage, great body, etc.” · “My business should be booming, I watched the webinar, I listened to the podcast, I read the marketing book. I made an effort, so I should be smashing it.” The Entrepreneur mindset does not measure the game based upon time and effort · It's not how much time it took me to do something, sometimes a project may take me 100 hours during the week, other times it may take an hour. · The time it takes is irrelevant. What matters are the RESULTS This is important to understand in my coaching to teach people to be optimal performing entrepreneurs. To be an optimal performing entrepreneur, it means that you are giving focus, effort, and attention to every area of your life, not just your business. But that's not to say that each area of your life is given an equal amount of time. Life does not balance that way! But when you have specific goals and targets for each area (business & career, relationships, finance, health & fitness, spirituality, and personal development) the results are what matters the most. Do you want to be an employee or an entrepreneur? Both require a different kind of mindset. Feeling stuck, like a number, or trapped? It might be time to change your mindset and role in your career. We've been taught to live a certain way, but it's time to think about our dreams and goals. It's never too late to change things up. As kids, we were fed the myth that if we went to college, got the degree, we would be able to easily find high-paying jobs. It felt almost certain to us that if we had the degree, we would be hired. But then the recession hit. Emmy shares her journey into entrepreneurship, starting with her lemonade stand as a child, jobs as an employee, and learning what it takes to be a success on her terms. Entrepreneurship is not for everyone, and that is a good thing. The world needs employees. It's not always easy. If you have a cheering squad as an employee, you lose it when you become an entrepreneur. It can be lonely. You have to wear more hats to make money. However, it can be really freeing and rewarding to work towards your own dreams. You get to do things your way. Personal growth is one of the best things about being an entrepreneur. You'll face more roadblocks as a business owner so you've got to learn and grow constantly. This allows you to push yourself past your comfort zone and discover who you are. It pushes you to the next level and lets you live life on your terms. If that sounds hard, and you want the guaranteed check, job description, and set duties, that's great too. The thing is, you may need to evaluate what you want and what needs to happen to make your dream life possible. Do you really like what you do, or are you just following your conditioning?Curious...do you have an employee or entrepreneur mindset?Let's keep this party rolling...The Hey Hey Emmy Show Party is here!
