With decades of experience in the global pizza industry, Jim has had a storied career spanning Domino's, Brugger's Bagels, and even running pizza operations in Europe and the Caribbean. He now leads Perky's Pizza, a pioneer in non-traditional food service spaces like family entertainment centers (FECs) and resorts. With a commitment to quality and innovation, Jim's expertise in ingredient sourcing, operational efficiency, and customer satisfaction has made him a leader in his field. In this interview, Jim talks about how pizza rules the world, not following the trends, and the importance of meeting everybody. Pizza Rules the World "Pizza is the number one selling item in family entertainment centers, and nothing will replace it." Jim's passion for pizza is evident as he delves into why it dominates as the go-to food choice in FECs and beyond. He discusses the universal appeal of pizza, describing it as a versatile dish that's familiar and accessible to guests of all ages. From thin crust to deep dish, Jim emphasizes that offering a dependable and delicious pizza experience is crucial to FEC success. Perky's Pizza focuses on maintaining high-quality standards while keeping operations simple and scalable. According to Jim, pizza isn't just a menu item—it's the backbone of FEC food programs, generating significant revenue and enhancing guest satisfaction. Not Following the Trends "I hate trends because they're not sustainable in family entertainment centers." Jim cautions against chasing food trends, especially in the context of FECs. Drawing from decades of data, he argues that introducing trendy menu items like salads or gluten-free options often results in wasted resources, as these items rarely resonate with the core audience. Instead, Jim advises operators to focus on proven staples, particularly pizza, and to learn from larger chains like McDonald's, which invest heavily in research before launching new products. His philosophy is clear: stick with what works and avoid overcomplicating the menu with fleeting trends. The Importance of Meeting Everybody "Good old-fashioned networking is key—you never know where opportunities might come from." Jim shares anecdotes from his career to highlight the value of building and maintaining relationships. From his early days working in Europe to his current role at Perky's Pizza, Jim has leveraged connections to create new opportunities and grow his business. At industry events like IAAPA, Jim emphasizes the importance of engaging with everyone, whether they're prospective clients or industry peers. By staying visible and approachable, he ensures that Perky's Pizza remains top-of-mind for operators looking to enhance their food programs.   To learn more about Perky's Pizza or to connect with Jim, visit PerkysPizza.com or call their office at 813-855-7700. With 1.1 million followers on TikTok, it's an unlikely story that just 10 years ago Rachel Pedersen, our guest on this episode of She Turned Entrepreneur, was a single mother on food stamps without a plan. But by taking one modest side hustle at $15 dollars an hour she started down a career path that just a few years later earned her the label “Queen of Social Media.” It's an inspiring story with a message you won't want to miss. (Hint: Don't hold back!) Rachel today mentors millions of followers and online clients, offering hard-won insights and strategies for reaching target audiences. Where some might be stingy with sharing trade secrets, she believes in sharing. Why? Because that abundance always comes back around! She loves working with women who want to grow their businesses to six figures and beyond (which Rachel has done many times over) and reminds us: “We're all just figuring stuff out as we go.” You'll also appreciate Rachel's invaluable advice about how to shut out the online trolls who only serve to bring us down with a few key steps to eliminate their negativity and noise. It's not as hard as you might think and will go a long way towards reinforcing your self-confidence – as well as sanity! Enjoy hearing about this Minnesota mother of three's journey and the inspiration she has found in authors like Dan Sullivan, whose work can be found here. Most exciting of all? Rachel has a brand new book that covers all the bases with great tricks and tips for driving your own niche online presence. Click here to learn more about and purchase "Unfiltered: Proven Strategies to Start and Grow Your Business by Not Following the Rules." Click here to listen to, rate and review this or previous She Turned Entrepreneur episodes. Here are key takeaways from the conversation:· Side hustles are no joke. Some turn into multi-million dollar ventures! Why not yours?· If you've got an idea, dip a toe in while working your day job.· Are your competitors your foes? They don't have to be. An abundant mindset serves all.· Business ownership has inevitable ups and downs. So really celebrate those ups!· Afraid to give your secret sauce away? Sharing your resources will most likely only attract more interest and engagement from prospective clients.· Feeling stressed? Worn down or vulnerable in any way? Skip the comments entirely. · When it comes to our physical appearances, online mean girls (and guys) are inevitable, but that doesn't mean we have to pay attention. Stick with what fits and feels best to you! Here's a quick look into the episode:· Introducing Rachel! Her story starts with unexpectedly becoming a single mom a decade ago – not according to plan. Food stamps, welfare and training as a hair stylist followed until one day … She happened into a $15 per hour digital media side hustle.· Seven years ago Rachel went all-in on her digital marketing business, which today has annual revenue ranging into seven figures, “which is wild!”· Three years ago Rachel's team turned its focus towards building its own internal digital presence and brand – which has manifested today with 1.9 million global followers.· How the “Queen of Media” is helping other female entrepreneurs launch and boost their brands by leveraging social channels:o An online course called Social Media United (formerly Social Media University) that caters largely to social media managers (the competition!).o One-to-one mentoring services.· Don't hold back! Rachel's research shows that the entrepreneurs who grow fastest also happen to be those who are most generous in sharing their resources and insights.· Four reasons to share freely your intellectual capital and experience:o #1: It showcases your depth of knowledge and expertise.o #2: It serves people – which is pure good will.o #3: It creates word of mouth.o #4: Today's freebie seekers are tomorrow's prospective coaching clients.· Eliminate the Negative! Rachel's tips for minimizing online noise and trolling:o Acknowledge that you're human. Things can penetrate and sting.o Remember: You don't need to read every comment. Limit your exposure.o Remember: Only people who live life fairly negatively are taking time out to spread toxic thoughts.o Remember: When you're overwhelmed or not feeling great for whatever reason, just skip the comments. You're already sensitive and prone to feeling down.· Rachel's advice for boosting self-confidence? She believes it's something built over time. There's no one self-help book, exercise or meditation. It comes from doing each task. · About "Unfiltered: Proven Strategies to Start and Grow Your Business by Not Following the Rules," Rachel's account of learning lessons the hard way about things like boundaries, scope creep and other hard-to-anticipate business challenges. Rachel Pedersen became known as “The Queen of Social Media” for one main reason: realness. In a universe seemingly dominated by male business gurus, hustle culture, perfection, makeup and filters, Rachel helped open the doors for businesswomen to leverage their no makeup, no filter, sweats-and-slippers authenticity on social media.  And she comes by it honestly.   In less than a decade, Rachel went from single mom living on welfare to founder and CEO of two multimillion-dollar companies, a top social media marketer and consultant, worldwide viral sensation, leading authority on storytelling through social media. She also shares openly about living with depression.    Rachel's new book “Unfiltered: Proven Strategies to Start and Grow Your Business by Not Following the Rules” is a literal piece of art. If you follow it, it gives you permission to be exactly who you are and I guarantee it will be your rocket fuel.   Rachel Pedersen is on The YES Effect show to talk about fearlessly going for it, starting a business from the bottom and finding your version of success by ignoring everyone else's rules.     In this episode, you'll learn:    Rachel's journey of single mom on welfare to starting a business How bravery and handling pressure is what elevates successful people How to act on your dreams and start taking action steps - even from zero Why the small, “crappy” steps of entrepreneurship are important for success How Rachel found success differently from most business media gurus The moment Rachel decided to go from ‘talking about hashtags to changing the world' How an emotional livestream of Rachel talking about depression went viral Why many women still struggle to be truly authentic publicly Why more influencers and celebrities are doing “no makeup” social media posts How Rachel helped grow a company 6700% in less than a year Why ClickFunnels Founder Russel Brunson encouraged her to write a book The importance of knowing when to speed up and slow down in your business   Quotables:   “There was a part of me saying ‘you've come so far, let's not stop here. What's the worst that can happen? Let's try for it.'”   “It's one crappy step at a time. It's one crappy TikTok that's sharing my voice…done. Ugh. Then the next crappy action step. Not that the action steps are crappy, but when we first do them it doesn't feel revolutionary. I didn't realize that's a part of the ‘how'.”   “You change what society gets to see. You change what becomes normal for the little girl who maybe doesn't look a certain way.” -SV   “So many people are suffering in silence and silos.” -SV   “When you are willing to say ‘I'm going to do something different' and are willing to stand out and take the heat and pressure of that, all of us are together in a different category because it takes so much bravery.”   “Usually the things we've been criticized the most for are actually your rocket fuel.”   “You get to be in charge of exactly what you want to build. This is not a runaway train. You're the conductor and you get to decide how fast or slow you need to go and when you need to stop.”   Links mentioned in this episode:   Rachel Pedersen's website Book: Unfiltered: Proven Strategies to Start and Grow Your Business by Not Following the Rules   Social Media United   Rachel Pedersen on Instagram | Facebook | TikTok | Pinterest | Twitter | YouTube Join The YES Effect Inner Circle Facebook Group for a behind the scenes experience about what it means to Believe, Belong and Become!   Join Shelli on Facebook Join Shelli on Instagram Join Shelli on YouTube

Digital Marketing Rocks!

By now, most small business owners know they need to be active on social media. Regardless of your industry or niche, your customers expect to find you there. And social media's free, so... it's all easy, right? I wish it were that easy. In fact, I notice that a lot of small business social media pages are missing the mark. They're not getting the engagement – or the leads – they want and they're not sure why. Fortunately, the answer is pretty simple, you're making mistakes and they're probably the same ones that other small businesses are making. What should you do? Identify the mistakes and stop making them! Here they the most common social media missteps and what you can do to fix them. Being Inconsistent with Your Account When people follow brands on social media, they want to know what kind of content they'll be getting. If you look at big brands, you'll notice that they have a clear rubric they use to determine what they post. For example, beauty company Dove focuses on empowering content that celebrates women of every age and body type. You'll also need to think about your content format. With Instagram, it's easy – all content there is visual. However, you could still think about creating consistency by participating in community hashtags like #ThrowbackThursday, or by posting a new video every Monday. On Facebook, you have a lot of leeway when it comes to content format. You can share graphics, photographs, videos, and written content. A good way to create consistency is by pointing similar content on the same day every week: videos on Monday, infographics on Tuesday, blog posts on Wednesday, and so on. Consistency also applies to your posting frequency. I recommend creating a social media schedule and setting up your content ahead of time. That way, you can be sure your content will go out even if you're having a busy day or stuck in a meeting. Ignoring Your Audience When was the last time you responded to a comment from a social media follower? If it's been a while or you only respond when there's a problem, it's time to rethink your strategy. People like to be noticed – and when they follow a brand on social media, they like knowing that the company reads what they write and cares about it. Get in the habit of engaging with your audience by replying to their comments and direct messages and by sharing their content when it's appropriate to do so. It's a good way to build brand loyalty. And keep in mind that when you respond to a customer complaint, you greatly increase the likelihood that they'll share their positive experience with their followers. Not Using Social Media Tools Every social media site has tools you can use to engage with your audience. Facebook Insights is a perfect example. It's where you can find detailed metrics to help you determine: The best time of day to post What times of content get the most engagement Who your followers are Where your followers are located Another prime example is post scheduling, which you can do with Facebook's Creator Studio for both Facebook and Instagram. If it's been a while since you looked at your social media tools, this is a good time to take an inventory and use what you've got. Using the Wrong Social Media Sites for Your Audience Very few small businesses have the time or budget to maintain an active presence on every social media site. And guess what? In most cases, you don't need to. What you should be doing is doing research to determine which sites your audience uses. Someone who's targeting an older audience might focus on Facebook. A company targeting Generation Z should think seriously about Tik Tok. Sites such as Statista can help you to dig into the numbers. Once you know where to find your audience, you should drop any social media profiles that don't make sense and focus on the ones that do. Not Following the Site Rules This first mistake is one that happens all the time. Each social media site ha...

He is in his 19th season on the coaching staff, including eight years as an assistant coach under Gordie James prior to being named the head coach when James retired prior to the 2009-10 season.   Off the court, Ioane’s basketball program sets out to develop men of character, create a family and build a legacy — in that order. He recruits players with that promise, which is why no one protested when the coach added the educational component in 2013.   Breakdown 1:00 - Willamette Basketball Program 5:00 - The Truth Exist Between Us 8:00 - Three Pillars to his Program 10:00 - Impressions of their Practical Week For Them 12:00 - Mentor 13:30 - Strategies to Help his Players become Comfortable 15:30 - Quantifying the Impact of their Stories 18:00 - By Product 20:00 - Handling Conflicts with his Players 25:00 - Selling Ideas to the Administration 26:30 - Character Development Focus 28:00 - Educating Sexual Assaults on Campus 30:00 - Educating his Players about Alcohol 33:00 - Phrasing and the Importance of Language for Coaches 38:00 - Team Within Team 40:30 - Irresponsible Social Media Usage 42:00 - Not Following their Players on Social media  44:30 - Adopting his Ideas 47:00 - Comments about his critics 48:30 - Conclusion   Kip Ioane’s Bio Bio: https://www.wubearcats.com/sports/mbkb/coaches/ioane?view=bio Twitter: https://twitter.com/kipioane Cross The Stream Podcast: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/cross-the-stream-podcast/id1270008031    Basketball Immersion Website: http://basketballimmersion.com/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/bballimmersion?lang=en YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/user/basketballimmersion Facebook: https://facebook.com/basketballimmersion

Parable of the Ten Virgins ~ Pt 6 ~ Why did Yeshua say “I know you not…”?

The foolish virgins miss the marriage. What are they missing? They miss Messiah’s return to gather and unite the exiles of Israel. Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us. But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not. Matthew 25:10-11 “Know” in Hebrew, is “yada” and it means, “to know intimately.” Yeshua was rebuking the foolish virgins for not knowing Him intimately. Does this mean that Yeshua does not know the foolish virgins at all? That they are not saved? No! Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? And in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, you that work iniquity. Matthew 7:22-23 You that work “iniquity”. What does this mean? Iniquity, in the Greek is: “anomia” and it means: The condition of being WITHOUT THE LAW/TORAH, being IGNORANT of the Torah and VIOLATING the Torah. This is the same word used in 1 John 3:4, where we find the definition of what sin is: Whosoever commits sin transgresses also the Torah: for sin is the transgression of the Torah. 1 John 3:4 Trangress = anomia = the condition of being without the Torah So, this a group of people who have salvation, who know Yeshua and they are saved, but they are NOT FOLLOWING the TORAH! Yeshua knows them, but from a distance. They are not intimate with Yeshua, because they are not following His Torah! Yeshua was explaining in this parable that those who are following His Torah in the last generation and who are ready and prepared for Him to gather and unite the twelve tribes of Israel (the wise virgins) will be ready for this event which is likened to a marriage. The foolish virgins are those who are NOT following His Torah and will NOT participate in Yeshua gathering and uniting the twelve tribes of Israel. The wise virgins will go to the wedding supper of the Lamb. The foolish virgins are saved, but they are outside of the bride and the wedding. She was kicking around the idea of doing a proposal. So, she talked to her literary agent to get things started. Her literary agent thought it was a great idea but she started to second guess it. She kept thinking of all the work that it would entail. Everything was telling her to do this but she didn’t follow her gut feeling on it. Turns out, someone else wrote a very similar book and it was doing great. She couldn’t help but think why she passed up on it. Following - Kristen referred back to when she was finding out about her fertility challenges. She had already had a son through the process. Every time she would go for a fertility cycle she would feel that it was OK and it wasn’t the time yet. She knew she had everything against her, being older and having fertility complications, but she felt it was right. She felt like this was her “yes”. She stayed with it and ended up having a beautiful baby girl. On today’s episode, all of this week’s guests have generously provided BONUS MATERIAL, not included in the interviews you listened to earlier this week. Each one has provided incredible examples of the power of following your “Yes”.  Enjoy! Kongit Farrell (https://speakingofpartnership.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/E_MP_9165_kongit-1.jpg)  Not Following - Even after Kongit had all the training and knowledge on how to have a healthy relationship, she still had one other trip up where she didn’t follow her “Yes”. She was in a relationship with someone who had a completely opposite vision than she did. She was so attracted to this person that she pushed her internal guidance aside. She was hoping to help change his ways with her wit but it was hopeless. She didn’t follow her “Yes” and was in a dead end relationship because of it. Following - Kongit’s easiest “Yes” was when she said yes to marrying her husband. Everything felt right, they both had the same vision, and they fit so well together. Everything felt so natural for her when she was around him and she didn’t have to think about it. She simply followed her heart and married the greatest man.  Listen to Kongit’s interview here (https://speakingofpartnership.com/188-kongit-farrell/) Connect with Kongit - Kongit's website (http://www.kongitfarrell.com) Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/kongitfarrell/) Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/KongitFarrell/) Twitter (https://twitter.com/kongitfarrell?lang=en) Tamara Green & David Dachinger  (https://speakingofpartnership.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/Blue-15-LD-1-e1504716562209.jpg) Not Following - Tamara tells us about a time 4 years after they got married, they weren’t communicating very well and were almost every night upset with one another. Each of them were listening to someone else on what they should do. Each time she listened to this person, she would feel it was further and further away from what she’d believe. After some time when they were on the brinks of divorce, she told herself to listen to her own gut, and that’s where things started to turn around for the better. Listen to the interview to hear of a time when David didn’t follow his “Yes”. Following - David tells us of a time when he was a volunteer firefighter. He had come to realize that he was able to jump over one state and pursue a career in firefighting and simultaneously hold down his other career being a composer. He was getting a strong “Yes” when thinking about pursuing this. He ultimately did, tested for it and got the job. He was able to do what he loved being both a firefighter and composer. On today’s episode, all of this week’s guests have generously provided BONUS MATERIAL, not included in the interviews you listened to earlier this week. Each one has provided incredible examples of the power of following your “Yes”.  Enjoy! Robert Kandell (https://speakingofpartnership.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/Headshot2_full.jpg)  Not Following - Robert was in love with a women, and part of an organization and community that was very intense. The strong social leader of this organization advised him to split up with her. She told him that his partner was holding him back and told his partner that he was holding her back. Even though he didn’t believe her and agree with her request, he did it anyway. That was over 10 years ago and Robert still has an ache around not listening to his internal guidance. It ended up really messing up his love for quite some time afterwards. Following - In the same group that he dedicated about 12 years of his life to, about a year before leaving, he was being moved around from different centres of the organization all around the world. After being moved for a third time in less than a year, he was by himself one night and decided that he didn’t want to be moved around like this for the rest of his life. He wanted more control and to live his life they way he wanted to. She read through the invitation for what the role called for and she felt like it was a stretch for her to perform and it was out of her comfort zone. It was calling for someone to wear lingerie and play the role of a dominatrix. She really ended up giving it her all for the auditions and rehearsals because at that time she thought she wanted to be a full-time performer. Find out the rest of her story by listening to her interview. Following - Bex tells us of how things came about with her relationship with her husband. She had just been let go of the performance group, and she was feeling terrible. After a bit of time she was finally able to shift that feeling and knew that it wasn’t her true, authentic ‘yes’. She started thinking about what was really in alignment with her vision and her art. She was gifted this vision of creating this large scale hole hoop performance, which ultimately led her to her husband. She ended up writing the love story performance that ended up coming true for her. This was a truly lovely story that Bex shared. Listen to hear the rest of the story. In this episode I go out on a limb and share the 7 biggest mistakes I made when starting my speaking business. Those who don't learn from history are doomed to repeat it, so save yourself from frustration and learn from my mistakes! Isolating Myself & Doing It Alone. Creativity is not a solo sport. Doing it on my own and not investing in support or expertise early on was a big mistake. Not Following the Recipes. I was too creative and too confident that I could tweak proven frameworks and do it my way. Throwing Too Much at the Audience and assuming they could figure it all out. Seeking Perfect Solutions. I caught myself in the cycle of test, learn, refine, repeat … without ever launching. Hiding My Story. Instead of creating connection, I sought to impress people. This actually led to less impact, not more. Failure to Capture videos, images, and testimonials. Failing to Build Relationships. A mastermind group helped me gain traction in this area like nothing else. I’ll talk more about this on the next episode because a mastermind group has had the single most significant impact on my business. Have A Question? I'd Love to Answer.
