On episode 172 of March Forth with Mike Bauman, Mike chats with Marc Coronado of The Crowned! Formed in 2013, The Crowned is a Texas metal band that's toured internationally and created a fan base around the globe. With a dynamic, cinematic sound reminiscent of Slipknot and Born of Osiris, The Crowned has shared the stage with the likes of ill Nino, Flaw, Hellyeah, Wednesday 13, and the aforementioned Born of Osiris, among others. Since releasing their album Apparition in 2017, The Crowned has released numerous singles and accompanying music videos, each with a level of creativity that plays out more like a short film. On February 21st, The Crowned released their latest single entitled "Set You Free" featuring Eddie Hermida (Suicide Silence, All Shall Perish). Inspired by the underground boxing scene from the film Snatch, the music video for "Set You Free" continues the cinematic quality of The Crowned's previous music videos. In this episode, Coronado (lead vocals, drums) talks with Mike about his early interest in percussion, his migration into metal and heavy music, The Crowned's formation, the creativity and effort that goes into the band's music videos, linking up with Eddie Hermida for "Set You Free," keeping a positive mindset no matter what life throws your way, and more. This episode also features the aforementioned "Set You Free" featuring Eddie Hermida from The Crowned, available where you get your music! Follow The Crowned on Instagram @thecrownedband. SUICIDE SILENCE lead guitarist Mark Heylmun goes in-depth with the California deathcore band's latest album "Remember... You Must Die" on THE LOADED RADIO PODCAST "Remember… You Must Die", which will be released on March 10 via Century Media, was produced and mixed by Taylor Young at The Pit Recording Studio. The record will be SUICIDE SILENCE's fourth full-length effort with vocalist Hernan "Eddie" Hermida (ex-ALL SHALL PERISH), who joined SUICIDE SILENCE following the passing of frontman Mitch Lucker. SUICIDE SILENCE said about the album in a statement: "It's safe to assume that [our new album] will CRUSH your expectations. We'll have more info and music very soon." For the artwork, the band enlisted renowned necrosurrealist artist David Van Gough to visualize the concept. During the podcast, Mark discusses the creation of "Remember... You Must Die" as well as subjects like late SUICIDE SILENCE vocalist Mitch Lucker, the continued process of creating the band's dual guitar attack with fellow six-stringer Chris Garza, working with current vocalist Hernan "Eddie" Hermida and that notorious self-titled fifth studio album. And in the second portion of the podcast, host Scott Penfold discusses ex-CANNIBAL CORPSE/current SIX FEET UNDER vocalist Chris Barnes' choices for his "Top 3 Death Metal Albums Of All Time". The gayest straight man in metal, Abhi Ahluwahlia, returns to Hell Bent For Metal. Matt's unwell (get well soon), so the music journalist turned broadsheet journalist is back for a show heavily focused on two of his favourite things: nu metal and deathcore.First up, Abhi and Tom remember 'All In The Family' by Korn, the alcohol-induced rap battle between Jonathan Davis and Fred Durst (of Limp Bizkit) that includes more homophobia than your average English football match. It's a moment that was not helpful to at least one gay kid who heard it at a fairly delicate stage of development – and one that Korn themselves have since disowned. This week's Camp Classic is 'The Past Shall Haunt Us Both' by All Shall Perish, the now-defunct deathcore band who once had the world at their feet. And while it's a fairly small section of the song that Tom's honed in on as being relevant to queer experiences, that doesn't stop a fairly long, sensible (yes, really) conversation happening about it.Plus this week's additions to the Hate Crew Gaybar jukebox are Patient Number 9 by Ozzy Osbourne, Data Renaissance by The Algorithm, and Dedication to Flesh by Spite.
Like a lot of gamers, G2 Esports CEO Carlos “ocelote” Rodriguez loves heavy metal. In early 2022, G2 released “Our Way,” their first-ever company anthem. The epic metal track features Noora Louhimo (Battle Beast), Luke Holland (Starset, Falling In Reverse, The Word Alive), Jason Richardson (All That Remains, Chelsea Grin, All Shall Perish), Jose “Atlan” Aranda, Tina Guo, Taylor Davis, and ocelote himself. He tells Ryan J. Downey all about his love of metal, how the track came about, and the long-running relationship between the gaming and metal communities.
This week we have the amazing Jason Richardson on the podcast. Jason joined his first touring band while he was still in high school. He started off with All Shall Perish, then joined Born Of Osiris, next Chelsea Grin - and most recently has joined All That Remains. Jason also has an insane solo career - make sure you check him out on youtube. What I really like about Jason is how good he is at guitar. The man has turned his job into a science. I respect that, and admire his work ethic. Thank you for your time and knowledge Jason, I have learned a lot from you and look forward to learning more. In this episode of the Don't Shit On The Bus podcast we will learn: • How Jason has consistently progressed his career • The qualities required of a guitar tech from the musician's point of view • How Jason became the new member of All That Remains • The differences between being a solo artist and a member of a band (00:00) Intro (02:51) Patreon (04:31) Jason gets on the bus (06:41) How Jason got into music (12:56) Jason's history with playing the guitar (13:06) Touring at 17 (15:30) Moving forward after All Shall Perish (18:25) Not feeling at home on the road (20:45) Touring with Chelsea Grin (24:23) Discussing Jason's solo career (31:52) What makes a good guitar tech (35:54) Differences between a solo career and being in a band (46:29) The influence Lindsey Stirling had on Jason's solo career (53:18) Learning a band's whole catalog (55:32) Jason playing the guitar (57:23) How Jason became a member of All That Remains (01:02:26) Wrap up notes (01:04:21) Shower Shoes --- Jason Richardson - Guest ► Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/jasonreevesrichardson ► YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/JasonRichardsonGuitar ► Website: https://www.jasonrichardsonmusic.com --- Don't Shit On The Bus Podcast ► Website: http://www.dontshitonthebus.com ► Spotify: http://bit.ly/DSotBspotify ► Apple Podcasts: http://bit.ly/DSotBapple ► TikTok: https://tiktok.com/@dontshitonthebus ► Twitter: https://twitter.com/DSotBpodcast ► Instagram: https://instagram.com/DSotBpodcast ► Facebook: https://facebook.com/DSotBpodcast ► Patreon: https://patreon.com/DSotB --- Adam Elmakias - Host ► Twitter: https://twitter.com/elmakias ► Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/elmakias ► Website: https://www.adamelmakias.com --- Edited & Produced by Connor Gaskey
"All Shall Perish" is the theme of this week's episode, and as morbid a thought as that is your hosts find a way to bring the humor this week as we explore Adroit Theory's brew. While the Bros discuss the origins of this Virginia Based Brew, they'll discuss how the brewery ties into Nine Inch Nails and what exactly esoteric means. Paired with this week's beer is the poem "But You Didn't," which we're crediting to Merrill Glass but which the Bros discover isn't as easy a creditation as one might expect. We'll go into a little bit of what import originality has on poetry and what happens when art goes beyond itself. Esoteric indeed this week, as we hope you'll join us and as always, enjoy.Cheers!

Best Friends with Sam Pura - Episode 13 - Zack Ohren (Castle Ultimate) & Sal Castaneda (KTVU / Mornings On 2) In this episode: I hang out and drink beers at Lucky 13 in Alameda with Zack Ohren. Zack is a producer / audio engineer who used to operate under the studio name "Castle Ultimate". We talk about Zack recording my original bands and his very unique and cool history of being what I would credit as one of the first successful DIY recording engineers in the Bay Area. We cover lots of random history, previous bands like Animosity, Something Must Die, All Shall Perish, talk about audio, life and just be best friends in general (which Zack HATES). I also pull out a potentially controversial song clip from a Something Must Die song that might have been "stolen" by the band Unearth... you decide. Then I randomly run into and interview KTVU / Mornings On 2’s Traffic Reporter Sal Castaneda. I ask him about his start in Radio & TV, and ask him about the very infamous "We Tu Lo" scenario. This episode is a really long and funny one! Thanks for being my Best Friend! I hope you enjoy. Cheers! Working Class Audio #177 with Zack Ohren!!! ZACK OHREN is an Oakland-based audio engineer & producer whose work includes over a thousand recordings over a two-decade long career. Alongside his friend and former co-conspirator Aaron Hellam, he ran Castle Ultimate which quickly became synonymous with high-quality, accessible recordings. Since 2013, he's been mainly working out of Sharkbite Studios. Zack has been described as “wizard fast” and “brutally honest” – skills that have helped him settle into a niche of heavy, often technically demanding music. He has worked with artists such as Machine Head, The Ghost Inside, Exmortus, Fallujah, Decrepit Birth, Suffocation, Set Your Goals, As Blood Runs Black, Cattle Decapitation, Entheos, Carnifex, All Shall Perish, Sworn Enemy, and Immolation among others. About this Interview: Zack joins me to talk about his journey with former studio partner Aaron Hellam and the series of studio locations known as Castle Ultimate that they created, the challenges with studio landlords, neighbors as well as lessons learned and where he's at today. We talk with Zack Ohren (Machine Head, All Shall Perish, Fallujah) about gaining trust, messy clients, and making Nintendo 64 soundtracks. We all have our audio origin stories, but Zack’s might actually take the cake. Our discussion takes us from him creating video game soundtracks professionally in his teens to producing some killer extreme metal. And, if you’re looking for ... Herman "Eddie" Hermida, the new lead singer of Suicide Silence, guests this week on the podcast. He talks about the difficulties of coming into the band after the death of Mitch Lucker, his role in taking over the helm, why leaving All Shall Perish was not as easy as just saying goodbye, and his experiences with both bands. Chuck and Godless ponder what the GwarBar will look like, if they're going far enough with the idea (how about a Gwar Theme Park??), whether or not you can have a restaurant with broad appeal when considering some of the extreme imagery of the band, and what other bands might be able to pull off a similar thing. Chuck also remixes the new Judas Priest song into something more Priest-y. Songs:Suicide Silence - "Cease to Exist"Judas Priest - "Redeemer of Souls"
