In this week's episode, we continue our chronicle of Night Demon's formative years, focusing on the official release of the debut EP in summer 2013. You will hear excerpts from worldwide media coverage of the release, including glowing reviews and vintage interviews with Jarvis. A press release in early September announced the band's intention to go into the studio shortly to record their full-length debut album. Night Demon was gigging heavily in southern California at the time, feeding off the youthful energy of a growing hardcore fanbase. They performed a release show at the Bombay Bar and Grill in their hometown of Ventura on September 14, 2013, and this episode includes extensive live recordings from that night, including the live premieres of multiple new songs. As fate would have it, that show turned out to be John Crerar's final performance behind the drum kit for Night Demon,.Become a subscriber today at nightdemon.net/subscriber. This week we resume our investigation of Night Demon's early days. We pick up the narrative at the beginning of 2013. Night Demon played a show on January 5, with Dusty as roadie for drummer John Crerar. It marked the first time Jarvis and Dusty had hung out in depth, aside from a prior occasion when Dusty had saved Jarvis's life. The guys began forging bonds of camaraderie with touring bands, providing hospitality that would one day be reciprocated. A setback occurred when Night Demon lost their practice space because of noise complaints, but fortunately a historically important alternative location was secured. In late January 2013, Night Demon played their pivotal first show in Los Angeles. That night, Jarvis reached a crucial personal and professional crossroads, and decided to go all-in with Night Demon. The band had suddenly become more serious. Become a subscriber today at nightdemon.net/subscriber. This episode is part 1 of our coverage of "Run for Your Life," track 9 on Curse of the Damned. You'll learn about the origins of the song dating back to May 2013 and hear snippets of early live versions. The guys talk about how the Jarvis/Armand/Dusty version of the song differs from the Jarvis/Brent/John iteration as originally conceived. Hear them reflect on how "Run for Your Life" captured a moment in time in the evolution of Night Demon. This episode also explores in detail the Run for Your Life recording sessions of what was initially intended to be Night Demon's debut album, why those recordings were scrapped, and how "Run for Your Life" was demoted from title/lead track status to the revered deep cut it is today. Compare the initial recording to that on Curse of the Damned to uncover differences in energy, backing vocals and even sound effects. Above all, this episode provides a lesson in Night Demon's perfectionist spirit and their steadfast refusal to compromise, even if it entails jettisoning a nearly-completed record along the way."Run for Your Life" - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IkpYY6yA7ioRiff Haus - https://www.facebook.com/riff.haus.3Exmortus - https://exmortusmusic.com/"Slave to the Sword" - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AEW8kbfE_NYHell's Headbangers - http://www.hellsheadbangers.com/ Become a subscriber today at nightdemon.net/subscriber. This is the Night Demon Christmas Special. For this episode, we try a different format: a roundtable discussion via Zoom call with Night Demon and your host, Nesbit. The holiday cheer just keeps coming as the guys talk about everything from podcast plans for 2021, the fabled "Jarchives," and even Dusty's pro wrestler name. You'll learn why there are no Night Demon Xmas songs, but you'll also hear holiday music from the members' past endeavors. Carlos Cruz of Warbringer and myself decided to review their new album "Weapons of Tomorrow" track by track. Warbringer Official Website: https://www.warbringermusic.com
Exmortus is a band from Whittier, Calif. that was formed in 2002. I recently had a conversation with Exmortus’ singer/guitarist, Jadran Gonzales, who started the band. They decided to call the band Exmortus because the band loved the movie Evil Dead. In the second movie’s intro, it mentions the Necronomicon Ex Mortis, the book of the dead. However, they changed the name to the “us” ending instead of the “is” ending. Last September, drummer Mario Mortus left the band to focus on his screen printing company. Jadran spoke about how the current lineup of Exmortus came together and how the lineup change has contributed to the songwriting style on the new album. We discussed what it was like working with producer Zach Ohren, as well as working with members of Spellcaster and Holy Grail. The Sound of Steel that was released on June 8 by Prosthetic Records.
The great Balmore Lemus (Novareign) joins in on the show to discuss the downfall of metal/rock in the mainstream as well as a plethora of topics happening right now as we speak.

Great phone in interview with the talented metal master, Conan of Exmortus. Conan talks about the upcoming Ep, Legions of the Undead, scheduled for release on October 25 of this year, the upcoming tour with thrash veterans Death Angel, past tours, and band line up through the years. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/metalbeerand-bs/message
I have the pleasure of doing the review for Exmortus' new EP, “Legions of the Undead,” and this is pretty exciting. I am so happy that I got to listen to this before anybody else! I think this EP is pretty sick. I really liked the theme that they're going with this time, just because I am a horror fan and I enjoy all things spooky and dark and undead. I listened to this EP about six times, and I have to say it reminded me a lot of their albums “Ride Forth” and “Slave to the Sword“. And those two are two of my favorite Exmortus albums. “Ride Forth” is an album that I hold a dear to me because that's actually the first album that I listened to by them and how I got to know of Exmortus. At that time they were touring with Havoc and Extinction AD. But, anyway, back to the review! Yeah, I think this EP is pretty sick. One favorite song of mine on the EP was the Beetlejuice cover. I think that they definitely did that track justice and I think it's great - I absolutely loved it! They also did a cover of “Psycho“, and that track was really, really good too. I'm a little more favorable to the Beetlejuice theme, but I do like “Psycho“. I really like that movie and I thought the song it was pretty good. I'm very glad they did those covers cause it's… I guess I wasn't expecting those songs to sound as brutal as they did. They were both really good. And then they also did a cover of “Night on Bald Mountain“, which is a classical, instrumental piece by Mussorgsky. (Not sure how you pronounce his name. Conan's probably gonna give me shit about this!) You kind of grow up listening to that song in school, like if you had any type of musical or art appreciation classes. I'm pretty sure almost all instructors or teachers played that instrumental piece. At least I remembered it, and listening to Exmortus play that piece just blew it out of the water for me. Just super exciting! I can't express how excited I am a about this EP. I think the band did a really good job. Conan, Adrian, Chase, and Cody all perform very well on the release, and I think they really, really brought the theme of the undead to life, especially with the album artwork too. It all just flows very well together. For fans, I think this a EP is going to be everything that you expect from Exmortus and more. It's so, so good! If I were to rate this EP: because of how much I enjoy the theme and the music, and how much it reminds me of “Slave to the Sword” and “Ride Forth“ (and it's even better than those), I would give it a 10 out of 10. And I'm not just saying that just because I‘m friends with the band, but because I truly enjoyed listening to this EP. It was really good. I hope that all you Exmortus fans are just as excited as I am for it to be released because it's amazing. The new Exmortus EP “Legions of the Undead” will be released on October 25th, which is by the way, very close to Halloween. So you guys can get spooky with it!

Then: Andrew the Impaled's new song, "Fuck It," Pisces on pooping and fuckery, Lord Angry Larry's new dance craze tune "Do the Hairball," Pisces and the jammers jamming it up the Con's ass, some trivia about The Shitty Beatles ("Bob's" early Wotan band with Ronald Reagan), a comparison between the new live version of Drs. 4 Wotan's "Split the Anus of a Moonie Now" and the 1980 original, more Kaosmic fuksinging, and finally Exmortus crooning "Kill the Pinks" and the Baby Bear/Pisces Audience Hate Song. Mario Moreno drummer for Exmortus was interviewed on February 16th 2014 by The Aquarian Weekly's/Montclair State University's WMSC 90.3 Japan Nick of Japan Nick of Japan Nick's Rock and Metal Pandemonium. Exmortus is a Whittier California based death/thrash metal band that was formed in 2002. Exmortus released the albums In Hatred's Flame(2008), and Beyond the Fall of Time (2011) on Heavy Artillery Records before signing to their present label Prosthetic Records. They have just released their third full length album which is on Prosthetic Records called Slave to the Sword. The following songs from the new album as well as the studio sessions were remembered for “Immortality Made Flesh”, “Battle Born,” “Moonlight Sonata (Act 3),” and Metal is King were explained structurally and lyrically. Advice was given for bands starting to play backyard parties. Things such as labeling all your equipment and packing up right afterwards are some useful tips not only just for the DIY backyard party scene but for the professional touring world as well in order to cut down on theft of equipment as well as other bands mistaking your equipment for theirs. Some dos and don’ts of breaking in new band members were given. Information was also provided for how young bands should start preparing to make their own T-Shirts and posters to sell. The band has started to write their next album and have plans to have it out by next summer.
