H., Jones, D., crary, J. F., Ordureau, A., Blanchard, J., Ahfeldt, T. D. Abstract: Accumulation of advanced glycation end products (AGEs) on biopolymers accompany cellular aging and drives poorly understood disease processes. Here, we studied how AGEs contribute to development of early on-set Parkinson's Disease (PD) caused by loss-of-function of DJ1, a protein deglycase. In induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC)-derived midbrain organoid models deficient for DJ1 activity, we find that lysosomal proteolysis is impaired, causing AGEs to accumulate, -synuclein (-syn) phosphorylation to increase, and proteins to aggregate. These processes are at least partly driven by astrocytes, as DJ1 loss reduces their capacity to provide metabolic support and triggers acquisition of a pro-inflammatory phenotype. Consistently, in co-cultures, we find that DJ1-expressing astrocytes are able to reverse the proteolysis deficits of DJ1 knockout midbrain neurons. In conclusion, astrocytes' capacity to clear toxic damaged proteins is critical to preserve neuronal function and their dysfunction contributes to the neurodegeneration observed in PD.
Intanto Mara Carfagna lascia Forza Italia.
Scenari foschi all'orizzonte.

On The Line follows Jordan Ryker (also known as Jordie) as his life starts changing. First his parents separate after fighting often and then his father comes out as gay. Will Jordan be able to make amends with his father? Or will he lose his cool this season? Theme Song by Man With Roses
In this episode of URBAN NATURE, Emanuele Coccia and Gabriel Kozlowski talk about the relationship of ecology with economy and politics, both in history and in the present. Coccia argues that we call natural environment is a form of artifact, artificially produced by living beings, and that the solution to our future is a spatial one, as a form of new modes of cohabitation between species. - Welcome to the first episode of URBAN NATURE, hosted by Gabriel Kozlowski, Brazilian architect and curator working on urbanization from the perspective of political ecology. The Series presents guests from a diverse set of disciplines—including Anthropology, Biology, Philosophy, Political Science, Political Theory, Geography, Architecture, the Arts, among others—that have been reflecting on the relationship between humans and nature. The first guest to inaugurate the series is Emanuele Coccia, a philosopher with interest spanning from ecology to arts and fashion. Coccia has a background in agricultural sciences. When he first got exposed to botany, chemistry and biology, the influence of which becomes evident in some of his philosophical works is he's the author of The Life of Plants: A Metaphysics of Mixture (2018) and Metamorphosis (2021). He is currently working on a book on the history of ecology. "We forget that ecology and economy are twin sisters. In the sense that they are sciences that share the same name—remember: ecology starts as "economy of nature"—, they share the same concepts, the same epistemological frameworks, and the same metaphors. (…) for instance, the metaphor of invisible hand that produces an order, a balance, was present from the start in both ecology and economy." -Emanuele Coccia - Episode recorded on Zoom in March 2022. Produced by ISTANBUL'74.
I have a couple guests today. My friend CJ Coccia from Telemark Colorado is back on. He's one of the brains behind Telemark Colorado along with his buds Brian Strickland & Erik Jensen. He is rolling solo today, reppin' The TC Crew but he has brought with him two other guys: Taylor “T2” Hennum: who was born in New Hampshire and grew up at a small hill called Granite Gorge. T2 moved to salt lake city last year to work at freeheel life and improve his tele turns. He's also brought along Curtis Devore — who since a young age, had a passion for photography and filmmaking. Growing up near Lake Tahoe, he always appreciated the outdoors and enjoyed using a camera to capture his favorite moments in life. He attended Colorado Film School, where he obtained a film degree emphasizing in Cinematography. We had a great chat about Telemark Colorado's movie WHY NOT? That dropped this past fall. Alex Coccia is one of the smartest people I've ever met. At his core, this NCAA Fencing Champion and Notre Dame Student Body President turned Truman and Rhodes Scholar is a humble boy from Colombus, Ohio who looks at the world a little differently to the rest of us.
