Hey friends, thank you for helping me to stay on purpose as I build my Ambitious Legacy and share how others are building theirs! Speaking of legacies, remember that, the better we are, the more we have to give! For example, here are some questions you should be asking yourself: What do I need to know in order to perfect my craft? How can I improve as a thought leader, business owner, employee, parent, etc? What can I add to my list of courses, books, or other educational pieces, that will help me on my journey of creating my Ambitious Legacy? As I continue to build my legacy, one of the things that I am excited to finally share with you guys is a course that me and my good friend, Crystal Young, created called "Successfully Practicing Real Estate in 30 Days"! This course will teach attorneys everything they need to know to successfully practice real estate in just 30 days! A course like no other, it includes everything we WISH we knew when we decided to become attorneys, specifically real estate attorneys, including but not limited to: how to start your own practice, how to network, and how to represent both buyers and sellers from contract to closing! You can purchase the course using the link at the bottom! My guest this week is someone who continues to be an inspiration to all attorneys, including myself, and who was a huge influence in my decision to create my own course after having taken hers, and seeing how she was able to fulfill a need and create a resource that wasn't available anywhere else. So who is this amazing guest? This week I had the pleasure of interviewing thought leader, educator, attorney, and entrepreneur, Sonia Lakhany, who has been featured on Bloomberg, USA Today, CBS, and countless other networks and publications! She is the Trademark Guru, and has multiple courses that teach aspiring trademark attorneys not only how to practice trademark law, but also the business side of being an attorney. Sonia (like many of us who come from immigrant parents), didn't have much of a say in her career choice and was pushed by her mom to pursue law. She ended up gravitating towards trademark law because it was the only class in law school that really resonated with her. After graduating law school, she started filing trademarks for free to gain the experience, and her story ended up landing her a job as a trademark attorney, which was the stepping stone to the numerous firms she would go on to work for. After 5 years she decided that it was no longer serving her, and decided to quit and bet on herself! Although she didn't have a plan, she knew that whatever she did would be successful. She now has million dollar courses, is doing what she loves, and serves as someone that attorneys and people of color can aspire to be and learn from. Now that's an ambitious legacy! Don't forget to rate and subscribe! This is Derek Miller Speaking on Business. In Utah there are over 155,000 people employed in the arts, humanities, and cultural sector who generate an amazing $7.2 billion in revenue each year. Crystal Young, with the Utah Cultural Alliance, has more about efforts to enhance such opportunities in the Beehive State. CRYSTAL YOUNG The Utah Cultural Alliance was founded in 1980 to advance the arts, entertainment, museums, and humanities. Today as the industry association, we represent over 400 organizations and businesses, and thousands of creative professionals, and support them through our foundation and advocacy efforts. Studies show that students who participate in the arts and humanities are more likely to have higher grades and graduation rates, making Utah an attractive place for companies to locate and grow. The Utah Cultural Alliance works to enhance the commitment to the arts by meeting with government leaders to help them understand the positive impacts cultural efforts can have. As part of that outreach, we help those interested draft community cultural plans to improve the lives of Utah citizens. We also manage NowPlayingUtah.com, a statewide calendar of everything to see and do here. It gets over four million hits a year. Go enjoy the business of living. DEREK MILLER The National Endowment for the Arts reports that Utah is the number one state for art participation and number two for attending live performances. We enjoy over 350 museums and more, thanks in part to the Utah Cultural Alliance. I'm Derek Miller with the Salt Lake Chamber, Speaking on Business. Originally Aired: December 10, 2021

AFTERBUZZ TV - AfterBuzz TV's Mini Spotlight edition, is a short form interview series featuring actors & artists discussing their roles and shows as well as their thoughts, passions and journeys. In this episode host Steph Sabraw interviews Shawn-Caulin Young. Shawn-Caulin Young is a director, producer and actor who stars in the film Heart, Baby as ‘Crystal’, a devout transgender Christian who quotes scripture in support of LGTBQ+ rights. The film follows the true story of George (Gbenga Akinnagbe), an unbeatable prison boxer who turned down an offer from the 1984 US Olympic team in exchange for his freedom, his best friend and transphobic inmate, Doc (Jackson Rathbone), and his transgender female cellmate & love interest, Crystal (Young). To prepare for the role, Shawn lived as a trans-woman on and off set, and throughout the course of filming, experienced harassment both as a female and trans-woman. “I knew if I as a cisgender gay man was going to try and tell a trans story, I needed to know in my soul what life was truly like for a woman like Crystal. It was hard, but I wanted to experience the day-to-day and all the feelings that came with living as a trans woman, so I could try to honor Crystal, as well as my trans sister & brothers. I did it so I could be a true advocate and ally, not just another cisgender person who sympathizes.” Shawn also co-produced the film and has won awards for his performance. Heart, Baby will open in New York on November 16th at the Village East Theatre and in Los Angeles at the Ahrya Fine Arts Laemmle Theatre on November 23rd, with additional markets to follow. Shawn will next be seen in season 3 of “True Detective”, returning Sunday, January 13th, 2019 at 9pm. He is known for his guest roles on Netflix’s “Santa Clarita Diet”, Disney’s “Wizards of Waverly Place”, and Netflix’s “Godless”. Shawn is originally from New Mexico and has lived in England and New York. He likes to spend his spare time coaching and mentoring children and young adults around the world in the art of acting.
